Other Collectibles / British Coins

Saw this on the BBC:

The Royal Mint is releasing a series of coins to commerate the 40th anniversary of ROTJ. Sounds like they'll be minted in Wales specifically? Llantrisant, Rhondda Cynon Taf. Anyone have any Welsh friends?

Anyone else collecting these? I couldn't find another thread on this. I got R2D2 and R2B1 over the weekend. Interesting that these cost roughly what Mighty Muggs cost like 5 years ago and are almost all unique sculpt + paint. I doubt I'll get am all, but these are fun.

Modern Trading / H:Corran and Whistler BAD W:Stormtrooper Commander
« on: October 2, 2009, 12:30 PM »
Looking to see if anyone wants the Corran and Whistler BAD pack from Walmart and is willing to trade a Stormtrooper Commander for it.  The Corran and Whistler pack is unopened/complete with BAD part.  I am not a carded collector, so I can't say its in perfect condition, but there wasn't any obvious damage when I looked at it this AM.  Like I said I'm a loose collector, so an opened Strmtrpr Cmdr is fine.  Anyone interested in making a trade?

The Clone Wars '08-'13 / Recent Clone Wars Finds/Purchases
« on: February 20, 2009, 10:04 AM »
I didn't see a thread this fit in, since there isn't a Clone Wars finds thread, but if someone wants to merge this, please do.

I was at a Super Wally this morning and there was a pallet of unopened cases.  I had already found the Legacy figs I wanted, and there were a number of stock people there, so I wasn't going to start opening cases.  But there was one case that I saw that I didn't recognize the description and hope someone can fill me in.  It said something along the lines of "SW Clone Wars EU 2 Packs".  I wish I'd had the presence of mind to take a pic with my phone so I could atleast have gotten the text right, or asked one of the stock people to open it for me (it was 2:30 am, so I wasn't thinking straight).  Anyone know what this might be?  The only Walmart two packs I know about are the BAD line in the Legacy collection.  Is Walmart getting a Clone Wars line of 2packs?

On the otheR Site, someone has posted a pic, with a receipt showing they bought the Clone set at TRU for $40 in Indianapolis.  Anyone see these?  I think that's the price they were thru Previews, right?

Watto's Junk Yard / Heating System Question
« on: October 16, 2008, 04:29 PM »
Anyone know about home hot water heat systems?

Last year we bought a house built in the 50s that has a hot water heating system with radiators.  I believe they call it a 'one pipe' system, meaning a pipe leaves the furnace and goes around the basement, with t-joints periodically that go out to the radiator in parallel to the main line.

The problem I have is with the radiator in our downstairs bedroom, our house is a two story with only one heating zone and all the upstairs radiators produce heat (as well as the rest of the downstairs radiators).  Only the one downstairs radiator doesn't.  When I go into the basement, both the supply and return pipes for that radiator get hot, but the radiator itself never seems to get more than slightly warm.  I'm thinking there is a problem with the shut off valve because it just turns and turns, but is there a chance its a blockage within the radiator?  If it is a blockage I'll have to replace the radiator, right?  If its just the valve I think I'll just have to replace the shut off valve.

Anyone here know a lot about these kind of things?

The Original Trilogy / Vader in the TIE X1
« on: July 25, 2008, 04:11 PM »
My understanding on the TIE design was that they didn't include any life support mechanism, which required the pilot to wear the helmet with the tubes going to the box on his chest, right?  How come Vader doesn't need something similar?  He spends the entire OT breathing audibly, so clearly he doesn't rely on internal air supplies most of the time.  This is particularly noticeable when he fights Luke on Bespin because Luke sprays Vader in the face with some gas coming from a tube.

So my question is, what do you guys think, does the X1 have internal life support, or does Vader's suit have some sort of capacity to exist in vacuum which he has to turn on before flying a TIE?

Watto's Junk Yard / A Dad, again
« on: June 6, 2008, 10:11 AM »
Hey JD, haven't posted in a while, my Wife gave birth to our second son on May 23rd.  Noah was 9 lbs 4oz.  He and Mom are both doing great.  His brother, a 22 month old, seems to really like him, but gets bored pretty quickly.  I kind of forgot how an infant messes with your sleep schedule.  I think we'll take a break for a couple years, though my Wife wants to try once more, she really wants to have a girl.

Newbies / Hello JD
« on: April 23, 2008, 10:06 AM »
Hi JediDefender.  I'm Keonobi.  My real name is John.  I'm 27 and I've been collecting off and on for most of the modern line, my parents didn't get me any of the Vintage figures when I was real little.  I'm pretty much your average collector, I just buy what I like.  I'm not a completist, an army-builder, I don't have the time, space or money to be a MOC collector and I haven't tried my hand at customizing yet.  Though I'm sure all the completists, army-builders, MOC collectors and customizers would correct me that they too only buy what they like....  I've read JD for some time now, and I've always found the news and discussions to be the best of the Star Wars sites.  So that's why I joined.
