Title: UCS Millenium Falcon
Post by: Mikey D on February 10, 2007, 07:28 PM
Holy ****, a Lego minifig scale Millenium Falcon.  :o It's going to be the largest set Lego has ever produced, with over 5,000 pieces.  Looks fantastic.

All I can say is WOW.  This is impressive, almost 3 feet long.  This thing is grand.

Half a grand, actually.

Wow, that is just nuts.  It was only a matter of time for them to try it though.

If I had the cash and the space for it, I'd be tempted.  Luckily for me I have neither.   :P

Words can't describe how cool that thing looks. I'd be happy just putting one together.

I just preordered this bad boy.  I'm not sure where I'll put it...I still haven't reassembled my UCS Star Destroyer and Tantive IV since when I moved about three years ago.  This set is going to take massive amounts of time to assemble.

Hey, there's a five per customer limit.  What's up with that crap >:( ::)

Hah!  I saw that too and laughed.

This would be sooo much fun to build, I've got a table in the basement just begging for a project to be started on it.  And I bet my daughter would love to help.  Alas, the price.  But it will be released in October, perhaps I should start 'suggesting' it to my wife now as a birthday present.  ;)

Might be more receptive than my wife was to the Death Star :'(  Didn't help that my niece (23 and in the military and an avowed mega-blocks fan ::)) was crapping on it as a big, grey ball.  Maybe the Falcon will go over better.

FBTB posted some info on the set. The cockpit can hold 4 figures, but there will be no interior in order to keep the model sturdy.

Boy oh Boy I'm on the fence here... I want to pre-order this really badly.  But a) I don't have a surface big enough to display it on and b) $500 is a **** of a lot of money.

Anyone else pre-ordered?

My birthday is in September, maybe I'll just ask everyone to pitch in towards the bill on this thing.

There's some definite temptation to order this, but it's a lot of money to commit to one item, even if it would kick ass.

Well I pre-ordered.  It's expensive as hell, but I know I'll want it later.  I can always chicken out and cancel in September.

I haven't really been keeping up on LEGO much lately, but was looking through the pics from C4 and saw this bad boy.  Wow, it looks amazing.  Like others have said, if I had the money/space for it, I would be all over it.  I don't envision any scenario where I could talk my wife into a $500 "toy" though, no matter what it is.  It would have to be the only thing I bought all year.  There are times though where I think it would be cool to be a LEGO collector, there's a lot of neat stuff and some of it can be scaled to the minifigs themselves.

I'd completly forgotten about this. I just recently lucked into the last lego falcon they released and I'd have to sell that off to be able to get this. What do you think, would you keep the original trilogy edition #4504 or would you sell it off to get this? I'm curious because the 4504 has an interior and I think that makes it more fun. However, a large falcon like this would be pretty sweet.

Maybe we will have to take a trip to WussBoy's house to see his once he's done putting his together...

Will do - but don't hold your breath, unfortunately it will probably be at least a week before I can start it.

I think when Matt and I saw this at SDCC, we both thought the same thing:  where the heck would you display this grand monstrosity.  Good luck if you had the Sail Barge and Star Destroyer too!  Very nice pieces though.

I've got all the UCS sets save the Death Star and the Naboo Starfigher.  I'll probably pick up a Death Star later this year.

As for a space for display on this falcon... I haven't quite figured that out yet.

I am hoping to be able to start on mine this week.  I am also hoping that for those of us who shelled out the money for this set that we at least find the gold C-3PO's in the box.

I finally got to open it up today.  It took me nearly a half hour to open all the bags and pour them into a few separate containers.

And I've never seen an instruction manual that was spiral bound.  This set is very intimidating.

Good luck with the Falcon Rob, pretty complex with all those parts.

As for a space for display on this falcon... I haven't quite figured that out yet.

So did you make any room to display that thing when all said & done?

I've got two options, I'm not sure which one (if any) will work yet.  I'll know when I have it all together and see exactly how big it is.  I definitely plan on leaving it out, I wouldn't have bothered opening it otherwise.   :)

That looks like a lot of fun to build.  I've always wanted to try one of those UCS sets.

For $500, I just wish they'd given us SOME interior decor... at the very least the Dejarik section.. all this has is the cockpit and a removable top gun that Luke can fit in.
Very sturdy though- Galen brought his to our last meeting and was able to fly (carry) it around with ease.

I've just gotten my UCS Star Destroyer back together... next is the Tantive IV.... dunno if I'll ever be able to afford this...

I best be off to 7-11 for some lotto tickets!

I'm personally not sweating the lack of an interior, since I don't do anything with these outside of display... for $500 I think it's sadly a fair deal and the free shipping was helpful.  Generally lego kits cost about $0.10 per brick, with over $5,000 pieces, it's pretty much in line with their other sets.

A Gold Threepio would have been nice though.

I've got all the other kits except the Death Star - hopefully within the next few months I'll pick that one up too.  My Star Destroyer is the only one that is boxed up at the moment.  I just don't have a place for it.

That Lego Millennium Falcon looks like one amazing "piece of junk".  I'm thinking about putting it on my Christmas list.

I saw this put together at a Lego store tonight and it's friggin' massive.  I knew it was going to be big, but I was amazed at how big it actually was.  I'd love to get one but I honestly have no idea where I'd put it.  Hell, I just recently found a spot for my 12" Jabba set up.

What's this thing weigh roughly, Rob?

DHL said the package was about 25 pounds.

So, I'd guess about 23?  The manual is (comparatively)  heavy.

That sounds about right.  I felt that the instructions weighed almost as much as a ream of paper.  I think this is the best UCS set to date.  It is really solidly constructed, especially compared to the Star Destroyer.  Also, it parallels to the regular falcons in the same way the SD parallels to the regular Star Destroyer set.  The smaller sets have the play value and interior while the UCS sets are just a frame with a lot of outside detail.  I do wonder why this set contained mini figs if they were not going to do an interior.  Also, why the extra head piece?  Would it have killed Lego to hook those of us who purchased this set up with one of the vac metalized C-3PO's?
