Site Feedback, Suggestions, and Help / Convention Section

Just was windering if it was possible to eventually get a convention section on the fourm. With C3 coming up in a year and a few months it would be alot better (IMO) if we have a section didicated to shows/conventions where we can talk about it instead of posting a lot of threads on different conventions in Watto's Junkyard. I know we have that thread on C3 in there but maybe it would be better to it be a seperate area since as it gets closer to that time more people will be joining up and asking a bunch of different questions about it and other cons.

Watto's Junk Yard / Anyone into Geneology?

Title says it all.
For the best 5 years or so I been trying to make a little family history book for my immedate family. In all likely hood its only going to go back to my great grandparents and then to me since I can't find alot about my anescetor since most of my grandparents died before I really cared to learn about my past. This is why I started to think about doing this book so that my kids and my siblings kids where know what their ancestor is. I haven't done all that great with stuff to write about but right now I trying to write up my life story which I have found to be hard to figure out what to write about.
So anyone else every done something like this?

"PASADENA -- Someone eager for a piece of the force stole a 170- pound, life-size bronze statue of Yoda, Star Wars' dwarfish Jedi master, from a flatbed truck parked overnight in Pasadena.

Lawrence Noble, 55, the Crestline artist who sculpted the mold for the statue, said the limited-edition piece is worth between $15,000 and $20,000. Artworks Foundry, which cast the statue, is offering a $1,000 reward for information leading to its recovery.

"It's a real high-end collectible,' said Lawrence, who also created the California Firefighters Memorial in Sacramento.

Pasadena Police spokeswoman Janet Pope said the statue was one of four bolted to a flatbed truck that stopped at the Westway Inn, 1599 E. Colorado Blvd., on Jan. 17.

The drivers parked the truck in the inn parking lot so they could keep an eye on the statues, she said, but that night or early on the 18th someone took one.

"We are treating this as a burglary and we'd appreciate any information the public might have,' she said.

Noble said the statues were being transported from Artworks in Berkeley to DKE Enterprises in Los Angeles to be sold.

Lucas Films commissioned the statues, which are slated to be part of a series featuring other characters from the popular Star Wars movie series, and Yoda was the first to be cast, Noble said. "I was thrilled Lucas Films wanted the most high-end bronzes they could get,' Noble said. The stolen statue was one of 36 Yodas, including six artist proofs, and only 10 are left, he said.

Artist proofs, he explained, were used by him to develop the final statue and belong to him, but the stolen statue is one of the finished products.

"Since it's not signed or dated, it should be easier to find it,' he said. Noble was in Los Angeles last weekend to sign the three remaining statues.

Noble started work on the Yoda statues a couple of years ago, he said. He sculpted a figure that was then used to make a mold, which was shipped to Artworks, where hot, liquid bronze was poured into it to form the statues. "

Watto's Junk Yard / The Joys of being on strike (aka how I need to find a new job)

As some of you may know I been on strike for the past 14 weeks out here in SoCal. Over the weeks some people have slacked off (signing in/out then leaving, signing in at different time etc) and other people have compline (me being one of those who was complining since these slackers caused our pay to be cut to $75 a week). This week a couple of us started to watch those slackers more closely and it was bought to the Union's attention. This caused those people to lose the pay which they didn't deserve in the first place. Now half our picket line seems to want to cross a line and half of those people seem to hate me personally. Someone crossed my name off of a shift I did work which could cause me to lose my paycheck this week. A guy also was starting s*** with me trying to get in a fight. So now I have have to really find a new job since my coworkers don't like me, some more then others. This sucks....

Watto's Junk Yard / Happy Holidays from Local 1428

As most of you know I have been out on strike since October 11 with my local Union. Today just 13 days before Christmas they (the Union Heads) decided to cut our pay by more then half. I'm a courtesy clerk and affective this Sunday I'm going to be pickiting for $2.50 a hour for a maxium 30 hours for a total of $75 dollars a week. All other clerks are getting $125 dollars a week. Next week I need to start looking for another job so that I can live my life and be able to go to school and pay bills next month. This strike sucks big time.

The Wookiee Arcade / Jedi Knight 2 Outcast Help

I just started to replay this game and am stuck in the second level where you have to hitch a ride on those mining cars things (after you destory the melting pot thing). I get on the car and ride it till I'm at the door on the other side but I die since theres a blue force feild right behind the door. I can't figure out how to get that thing down any ideals on how I can get throught this. THanks Tom

Watto's Junk Yard / In Memory of Those Who Died

Two years ago many of us watched in horror as the wrost attack on this country took place and thousands of inncoent people lost there lives. It doesn't seem like it has already been two years since this day which for me started with me getting a little angry at my dad for waking me up so early (I had to be at work at 11 and asked them to wake me up before they left around 7). I heard him saying something through the door about a plane crashing into the WTC which caused me to do two things at once, open the door and turning on my TV in my room, and I watched for a little bit in my room but decided I need to be with someone. That day I said something which I think my grandfather said once he heard about the attack on Pearl Harbor which was to join the armed forces, he did( at age 30 or something higher) I didn't. This day has made up my mind in what I would do if some idoit tries to Hijack a plane I'm on.
To anyone (on these boards/and else where) who lost loved ones my thoughts are with you as we appoach this terrible day.
