JD Sports Forum! / Re: MLB 2005

As Meatloaf once said, "two out of three ain't bad."  :D

And, in other news, I was listening to the radio today and they were talking MLB Payroll.  I hadn't heard yet that thanks to all the off-season trades, the Florida Marlins Payroll is less than $15 million.

That means that at least 12 players in MLB this year will make more than the whole 25-member Marlins team combined.
1. Alex Rodriguez - $25,680,727
2. Derek Jeter - $20,600,000
3. Jason Giambi - $20,428,571
4. Barry Bonds - $20,000,000
5. Jeff Bagwell - $19,369,019
6. Mike Mussina - $19,000,000
7. Manny Ramirez - $18,279,238
8. Todd Helton - $16,600,000
9. Andy Pettitte - $16,428,416
10. Magglio Ordonez - $16,200,000
11. Randy Johnson - $15,661,427
12. Chan Ho Park - $15,333,679

In fact, the top trio of Yankees on the list together make more than 13 teams.  Add in Mussina and you have more money in those four guys than in 17 others have in their entire team.   :o

Another place that I really enjoy shopping through is www.dnstoys.com - very good people to deal with and probably the best customer service I've seen.

I've never used them for case orders, but I have placed a few orders with them for individual things.  In those times I used them, they always seemed to come through with little hassel and pretty good service.

Yes.

I have two Snowtroopers (one for me, one for Brent) and they have different mini-holos...

I received a quick payment from Ed today.  Always nice when you get payment the same day you start the deal!   :)

Your figures should go out tomorrow!

Western Conference
1. Detroit Red Wings (Central Division champs)
2. San Jose Sharks (Pacific Division champs)
3. Calgary Flames (Northwest Division champs)
4. Dallas Stars
5. Colorado Avalanche
6. Vancouver Canucks
7. Nashville Predators
8. Minnesota Wild

Looks like I only got 2/3 of the Division winners and 6/8 overall.  Not too shabby I guess.

I tend to use www.NewForceComics.com as my source.

NewForce is going to be the cheapest ($72 plus about $8 shipping), but there is alway the chance you won't get your order because they sometimes get shorted by Hasbro (since they don't do the volume of EE).

If your main concern is that you know that you will get your order, your best bet is probably EE.  the are often times the most expensive option ($80 plus about $10 shipping), but they come through 95% of the time with your pre-order.

So,
- if you want them cheap and are willing to risk you won't get what you ordered , the NewForce is for you
- if you want to be sure that you have the best chance to get the case and are willing to pay a litle more for it, then EE is for you.

There are tons of other sites out there, but I've done most of my "by the case" ordering at NewForce or EE.

I'm both actually... I usually am up 'til midnight and wake up around 4 a.m.

I'm both. Usually up till 1 or 2am and then wake up around 5ish in the morning.

I also have a tendency to stay up late and then wake up early...

Must be something in the Minnesota water I guess.  ;)

Like I said earlier in this thread, if they made them, I'd probably buy them.

Sure it's blasphemous to some to even consider it, but you all know you'd love to buy a SA JarJar on a "vintage" style card.  :P

I still think though that the best way to do it would be to grind out the VTSC/VOTC type stuff until they have covered all 93-100 Kenner figures and meanwhile grind out Evolutions style 3-packs for the prequel stuff.  No one would have a problem with that I think... well, OK someone would have a problem with it because some people will have a problem no matter what Hasbro does.   ;)

I didn't have any real problems with Indy the city.  Most of the problems I saw at C3 were with the way things were set up inside (most notibly, the damn C3 store).

But, I wouldn't mind if they moved it somewhere else because one trip to Indy was enough for me, I've got no need to keep gonig there again and again.  Why not move it around to a new city to give other people the chance to go too?

I know there want to keep it centered in the USA, but there are plenty of other mid-west cities to choose besides Indy - Minneapoils/St. Paul, Chicago, St. Louis, etc.

10181
Your suggestion has been noted.

10182
Well you're right about one thing, I didn't read the whole thread! But you're wrong on my stance.

Let's see -  I'm wrong on your stance?  I'm not quite sure what your "stance" was.   ???

- "Why not just post who the Secret Santas were?? "
- "this doesn't have to posted, but told to each member individually"
- "How'd I know Famine would come in with a "question"? "
- "not that I really care, just hate seeing anyone taken"

The only real "stance" I see you taking in those last few posts is that no one should get taken.  Well, duh.  No one in this event should get ripped off - not Hemish, Slothus, stormie, or Deanpaul.

That doesn't change the fact that I believe you're only posting in this thread in order to stir the pot a little bit (and apparently doing a good job of it since you got at least a few people to respond to you).

10183
Man, this is awfully tempting.  If I was going to buy just one, this might be a cool one to grab...  :-\

10184
And it's not that I really care, just hate seeing anyone taken, especially since Hemish is one of the guys who hasn't received his X-Mas gift. He's a stand up kind of guy, and I hate seeing him not get a gift!

I think you like stirring the pot more than you really care about the topic in this case.

If you did actually care about it, you might have actually read the posts in this thread and seen this:

I'm pissed that Hemish didn't get my package; especially since his recipient got his. I'm not as pissed I didn't get mine but think an explanation is in order. :-\

See, right there in that post, Hemish learns who his Santa was.  His Santa mailed the box and it looks like the Post Office lost it.

Same goes for Deanpaul.  His Santa has already revealed himself as well, in this very thread:

I'm really not sure why Deanpaul hasn't gotten his present by now...

I would really like to apologize to Deanpaul in any case, however.

That only leaves 2 other people waiting for gifts:  Stormie and Slothus.

- Stormie figured out who his Santa is (again from posts in the thread) and is patiently waiting for his Santa to come through despite a bit of strange circumstance.

- Slothus Santa has gone MIA and I'm still working on that one for him.

So, the moral of the story is that you can stop worrying about it and just let the staff handle it.  Thanks!

Huh,

I was digging around over there and found a goofy looking poster:

http://www.hasbro.co.uk/swminimovies/collectors%20poster%20reverse.pdf

Very similar to the ROTS poster, but photoshopped with the first 30 Saga figures instead... I wonder if this type of poster is coming at SDCC?
