Question for others who have bought this set:  was there any kind of a packet with the antennae for the 2 Clone Troopers?  I wasn't able to find them in my ARC-170 Battle Pack.

If you have yet to buy this book but you've been deterred by the price, then you may be in luck!  I found the Vault today at a Barnes & Noble store for 50% off.  That's a lot of money when the book sells for $85!  Plus if you have a member rewards card at B&N, you get another 10% off.  I didn't have that and the book cost me about $46.

Update!

Debatable

3. Imperial Commander One was done in a different costume

There have been strong rumors of a Commander Praji figure for the ANH wave.  He's an Imperial Officer in the black tunic uniform.  Think that one would suffice for the Imperial Commander?

There's a planogram listed over at the RS forums that mentions some 2-packs.  And that listing assigns 2 pegs to those 2-packs.  It makes me think that the packaging for these 2-packs may have changed.

I finally got around to opening the figures from this wave.  Overall impressions?

___  # 07/55 Clone Trooper (Training Gear) - Pretty cool.  But the way the legs are posed he looks kind of crooked.  The snap on armor is actually cool, and works much better than it did on the 2002/03 SAGA Deluxe Clone Trooper.  It's a really cool figure, but not what I had totally been hoping for.

___  # 07/56 Padme Amidala (Fireside Gown) - I think facially it's one of the better Padme figures.  Overall the figure looks cool, but it's essentially a statue.  Nice, but flawed.

___  # 07/57 Jango Fett (w/ poncho) - WOW!  This figure really impressed me in a big way!  All of the accessories are very good, from the armor, to the helmet, to the holsters, blasters and poncho.  Even the way the poncho is sewn is such that it's hiked up for Jango's right arm to get at his blaster.  It comes across as very "Clint Eastwood" from "The Good, the bad & the ugly".  And the figure itself?  Very nice.  It's a shame that most of the sculpt is hidden under the accessories.  This is the true gem of wave 8.

___  # 07/58 Voolvif Monn (Clone Wars) - This is a decent figure, but compared to some of the other figures in the wave it doesn't measure up.  Especially if you compare it to Jango Fett.

___  # 07/59 Destroyer Droid (with 1/2 shield) - I've been a fan of the Destroyer Droid figures since the first one came out in 1999.  This one seems like the first to REALLY get the look of the droid down pat.  In an ideal world it would be cool to get a transforming one, but the figure is done on too small of a scale to make that practical.  And I see the shield as just gravy.  I would have liked it to be a little more translucent, but I think it was a very cool add-on to the droid.

___  # 07/60 McQuarrie Signature Series - Concept Rebel Trooper - This is the one figure from the wave that I've yet to open.  To be honest, this is one of the McQuarries that I'm the least impressed with.  When I open it I'll post more of a review.

Ahhh, thanks for the info Jeff.  I think I might have to order them, or check Toy Tokyo in Manhattan one day.

So did anyone order these?  And did they ship in November?

Well, the timeline for the Secret Apprentice's training with Vader has been set.  The new book Jedi VS Sith - The Essential Guide To The Force sets the apprenticeship starting at 18 years before the Battle of Yavin.

Will they use the "new" 2004 DVD Ian McDiarmid head or the original?  Whichever is picked there is sure to be some arguing about that.  I am interested to see what they come up with for the head.

Lucasfilm Licensing would probably direct them to use the McDiarmid head.  They have final approval on pretty much anything that's licensed, and they would no doubt take GL's stance that the Emporer should look like he does in the current incarnation of TESB.

Dr. Evazan has never really gotten a decent figure.  And both of the Evazan's to date have been part of multi-packs.  But neither figure has really captured his true ugliness that well.  Especially when you consider that his appearance in ANH is pretty crucial, since it's the first time Obi-Wan really shows off his Jedi powers.

As for the Emporer's giant holographic head?  You have me to blame, there.  Well, at least for the question.  I was very surprised to see that Hasbro bit at that one, but I'm very pleased with the answer.  I think it will make for a very interesting piece, although I think it's probably going to be offered in something like a Battle Pack.

Or any of the other Jedi, for that matter.  But Tsui Choi will definitely be one of the high points from these sets.

I think Hasbro's response here is somewhat on the mark.  And believe me, I have LOVED the Vintage figure line.  But I tend to agree that the figure aesthetic has definitely improved since Vintage was introduced back in 2004, and the Basic Figure line of today looks much more like the vintage line but with less expensive packaging.

Still, I think I would like to see the Vintage line return in some kind of commemorative capacity.  We do have some significant anniversaries coming up that might be well commemorated with a one-off Vintage wave.

-2008 - 25th Anniversary of Return Of The Jedi
-2009 - 10th Anniversary of The Phantom Menace
-2010 - 30th Anniversary of The Empire Strikes Back
-2012 - 10th Anniversary of Attack Of The Clones
-2013 - 30th Anniversary of Return Of The Jedi

The Clone Wars '08-'13 / Re: Clone Wars AT-TE

Back to talking about the toy...

I'm personally hoping for one, maybe two pack-in figures.  I'd be happy with the Evolutions Phase I Clone Trooper, one being the pilot version and the other being the standard, white armored grunt Clone for the dorsal cannon position.

As for the interior?  I'd like to see a couple of gunner stations on the inside, for the point defense turrets.  And then some kind of troop seating, with some kind of deployment hatch(es).  I think those features would really give this some play value.

I just realized something about the Fett Legacy 3-pack....we're getting another figure that's related to KOTOR.  Mandalore has shown up in the Dark Horse KOTOR comic series.  And Darth Nihilus is from KOTOR II.  So I have to wonder if we've got a serious shot at some more KOTOR era figures.

Since this version isn't in one of the WalMart 3-packs and it's not in the Wave 2 assortment, what do you all think the chances are this figure will be a Target Exclusive just like the Saleucami and Utapau Shadow Trooper clones were?

I'm not totally sold on that idea.  The reason being that there are still other, significant characters in The Force Unleashed that we really haven't heard much about.  And they seem to be likely candidates for figures.  Just to name a few?

-Proxy - This is a droid that can disguise itself as other people
-Shaak Ti - She's confirmed to be in the game
-The Secret Apprentice

And the RS 411 report said that there may very well be more Force Unleashed waves later in the year.
