Droid Factory 2013 / Re: 2013 Droid Factory Wave 2

I'm a lot more excited for this wave now. Hasbro's obviously putting a TON of effort in the realistically-styled TCW figures, those figures from Anakin to Rex now all look amazing in terms of sculpt. Glad there was also a lot of effort with Mara, they did say they were trying to keep the spirit of TVC alive by sculpting her hair as a separate piece.

Looks like there is also going to be repacks of Cody, Maul, and Opress (Armored) in this wave.

So then that Maul is the one that Hasbro mentioned a lot earlier this year that would see release single-carded. Funny, it's just a straight repack. Not even any tweaking... I'm sure hecka people are dissapointed that it's not even Spidey Maul. :-\

Finally a repack with armored Savage. Hasbro's just terribly sly - they don't pack in his lightsaber with the Battle Pack version so that we can get both the BP AND the single-carded repack.

I'm not exactly sure why Hasbrpo hasn't repacked Ahsoka yet. You would think that being that they're going with core characters only now they would repack her. This figure goes for $70 on Amazon!

The Clone Wars '08-'13 / Re: The Future of the Clone Wars Toy Line?

I really get the vibe that they are basically just waiting for the show to end so they can axe the line for good.

It's funny, I also got that impression that they're essentially just waiting on relentlessly for the show to end. They've already made clear that the line will transition over to the realistic style. Honestly I love the realistic figures we're getting soon, and it'll bring something fresh to the table to keep the realistic line going on without getting stale in character choices. Think about, all the new characters from TCW that we can finally have now. I wouldn't be surprised if we even get a Duchess Satine waaaaay down the line.

Kind of bummed that this could be like a death throw for it...  The show looks like they maybe righted the ship this season.  I honestly am amped...  They trick me with trailers sometimes, but this one really looked like this year's going to what they needed to go to.

To be honest, with what was shown in the trailer and with the apparent "big secret" set for later in the season, this could be THE big bang to end it, you know? Because honestly at this point I don't see it surviving another season. And it looks like a LOT of loose ends will be tied up. I mean, Sidious fighting Maul and Savage? Come on, someone has to die there. And I have a feeling something big will definitely happen with Ahsoka, I did read somewhere (don't remember where exactly) that all the actors had to be kicked out of the studio while Matt Lanter (Anakin) and Ashley Eckstein (Ahsoka) recorded one particular scene together.

I'm just so hyped for Season 5 it's ridiculous. Thank you, Dave Filoni, for putting together a quality and rewarding season together for us.

I'd like to start off by saying that I have never once bought a full case of figures, nor do I usually buy online. Ever since TVC, I've been buying individual figures from Amazon, because that is my only option for ever getting new figures these days. I haven't seen ONE figure from anything after the TPM wave at retail. Ever. In short, I've been adapting to the situation Hasbro has presented the hard way.

How is this relevant to this wave? Well, this was the one wave I actually really wanted - I don't know about you guys, but I'm all down for realistic Obi and Ahsoka. Those figures look stunning to me. And, as far outta the loop I am with OT, I'm all down for the Royal Guard figure. So I was really annoyed when these came out as online exclusives.

Well, I can say I've bought my first full case of figures. EE was the way to go for me. It really is bittersweet. I can't believe that I seriously spend $100+ - online, mind you - just to get 3 figures I really wanted. Ugh, Hasbro.

I was shocked Mace even got the realistic TCW treatment. Other than the clone armor guantlets and maybe a longer robe, there really isn't too big of a difference. I really wish Hasbro would start on realistic TCW villains instead - give me realistic Asajj, Cyborg Maul and Savage Opress instead, please Hasbro? :-*

Since this is supposed to be a relaunch on the heels of Vintage, I'm completely underwhelmed. I don't like that AOTC takes the center stage here - sure, an updated Anakin is nice, and so is that Padme, but this is a weak first wave.  :'(

Idk, put Mara Jade in that first wave, or one of the remaining Original Kenner in need of an update, but this is such a lackluster first wave.

I used Amazon to buy this wave; Ep.I pegwarmers are still pegwarming at my local retailers. :'( Amazon has not let me down, though; I was able to score Malgus when he was $12.99. I will say, though, that the thrill of the unexpected finds when you actually go into the stores isn't there.

I find it somewhat irritating that Hasbro is more invested in their Fighter Pods than the TCW line. >:(

The only "new" stuff I've heard of anywhere regarding this line has been from GH, per their post-Hasbro panel summary:

CLONE WARS

Commander Fox will be the last Clone Wars figure for 2012. Hasbro does plan on continuing to strongly support the series and releasing 20+ figures in 2013.

There is no arachnid Darth Maul planned for release at the present time due to the size of the figure, but General Pong Krell is very much in their radar. Another Maul is slated for release outside the Target battle pack version. We think Spidey Maul is a perfect piece for an exclusive

I'm just so confused with this line... only 20+ figures for 2013, again? I thought Pong Krell had already been made, as indicated per rumors last year... and another Maul? I'm just so lost I don't even know...

I re-watched the trailer today on the Star Wars site and I noticed something odd - in the one shot where Savage and Embo are fighting it out, Savage's left arm is mechanical. It's easier to see in the shot where he punches Embo with that arm. Is he losing his arm this season?

I've found multiple figures from the "new" TCW line - including the apparently hard to find Cody - and I've passed them all up without a second thought. I have absolutely no regard for this line now; Hasbro effectively killed it. The only TCW item I'll pick up in the forseeable future is the "Maul Returns" BP.

Hoping my Malgus is coming soon - I joined in the rush to get him when he was on Amazon for $16 - but I was disheartened to see the report on JTA from someone who received the order already. The card was bent and damaged from the bubble wrapped envelope. Plus I don't know why it didn't dawn on me that the figure would come on tri-logo packaging being that it shipped from outside the US. Well I guess I'm getting my opener. I was actually hoping to keep it carded for display.

I'm totally buying this. Just some thoughts, especially since Scum has some Hi-Res photos of the set:

- Nightsister is SA - ankles, ball-jointed elbows (not the cut elbows as previously thought), the works
- Where in the HECK is Savage's lightsaber? Hasbro, that's a really, REALLY stupid move...
- Maul has jointed elbows, ankles, and knees, as far as I can discern. From the photos, it looks like he has no torso articulation, and I can't tell if he has wrist articulation, either.
- What the hell is the deal with Maul's lightsaber?

Maul actually looks like the weakest of the set, which is incredibly stupid being that this BP revolves around him, a major, iconic Star Wars character that's been MIA for 12+ years since TPM in '99. The head sculpt doesn't look like the cartoon character, and he seems to be missing articulation in major places. Plus, that crappy lightsaber contraption sure looks wonky. I'm hoping the lightsaber pieces themselves are removable from that round red piece of plastic.
