Title: The Full 56
Post by: Darby on March 11, 2005, 04:27 AM
HOLY.  ****. (http://www.rebelscum.com/article.asp?i=90231)

First we got the trailer.  Now we get a look at all 56 ROTS figs.  Obi Wan Pilot (thank you Hasbro).  Tarkin.  Wookie Warrior (with shield!!!).  Clones.  Wonderful clones.  Crispy Anakin.  SP aliens.  Weirdo aliens.

I couldn't be more excited.   ;D

The greats have been bested. Move on Empire Strikes Back, move on Power of the Jedi.

Man, I'm so excited about all these Clones! This is what the line should have been like from the begining!

Rebelscum isn't working for me right now for some reason, but sounds like there is lots of great stuff to be seen.  Can't turn down Clones, Wookiees, weirdo aliens, and misc background characters.  Hopefully they'll get back up soon, or my copy of Insider hits the mailbox (I understand that is where it is from?).  Sounds cool.

Yep, IMO this entire line rocks really hard overall.  Love all the Jedi and clones.  We get some funky looking aliens, droids, and vehicles.  Glad to see SW go out with a bang.  Before the line came out I was thinking of just getting a few figures and that was it.  LOL!  Not now.  I'll end up getting most of these if not a bunch of duplicates.

Rebelscum is not working for me either.  I saw this picture earlier though.  Great shot of some figures we had not seen yet.  The Kenobi Pilot looked fantastic along with some other gems.  I did not have a lot of time to stare at it.  Bummer the site is not working :(

Got RS to work now, and that picture is just amazing.  Lots of great figures coming this year the way it looks (Wookiee warrior and Clones look amazing), and I really like the way that overall look/display is set up for that picture.  This line looks awesome.

Wow.

Just out of curiousity, I spliced the 3 photos together...

- I love the fact that the Ep3 Wookiee Warrior is different from the Preview figure.
- I love the fact that there are a ton of Army builder figures in there.
- Still don't know what a #52 "Tado" is, must be some prominent Jedi Padawan I guess  :-\
- #50 Anakin = creepy...
- I like how the picture includes both the blue & red guards!

Very excited to get my hands on these...

Thanks for doing that Jeff, nice to see the whole thing together like that.  The whole lineup just looks cool to me, set up and displayed like that.  Granted, their background/lighting does make a few of the Col 1 figures look better than they are, but still overall, it is a nice ad/display.  I'll be getting close to each and every one of those figures, provided I find them, this year :).

#41 looks to be a SA Ep3 Clone Trooper, no need to buy the first one now :)

#45 Tarkin!  Neat!

#46 and #47  Cool, nice Senator type figures and OT aliens to boot

#52 Is that Jett Lucas?  The checklist calls him Tado

I've never even seen pics of #53 (Utapauian Warrior), #54 (Turbo Tank Driver) or #55 (Mustafar Sentry), they all look cool.

Burned Anakin also looks great, I wonder though if he actually is much more burned than that?  Based on the early spoiler images and the 12" figure I would guess so and they actually toned this one down a bit
Title: Re: The Full 56
Post by: Brian on March 11, 2005, 10:06 AM
I was wondering if that padawan was the Jett Lucas character as well, although I think his name is different than "Tado" or whatever he is listed as.  At least, according to the official site, his name is "Zett Jukassa", but who knows.  Either way, looks like a nice figure.  It always seems like the nicest ones come later in the year like that.  Agreed about the Clonetrooper, seeing that SA one on the way makes the first one avoidable.  I'll probably pick up 1 if I see it, but won't be army building with the "quick draw" version.  Lots of neat clones this year, and the wookiee warrior looks nice as well.  Glad to see Tarkin in the lineup too, I actually don't have the POTF2 one, so it would be neat if they did an "old" variant down the line somewhere of this figure ;).

I thought of that this morning too Brian, they could easily put an old head on the new Tarkin and many people would be happy

Good Lord... first the trailer and now this... I am gonna be so broke.  The only figure that looks like a letdown really is the Windu.

I'll still get a few of the first Clone.  Don't want to chance the 2nd one being hard to find.  And can get some AT-TE Gunners as well.   :)

That's frikkin' fantastic! I love all the clones and army builders, particularly #49, Commander Baccarra--really medieval, and also McQuarrie-esque for some reason. And I'm glad the Wookiee Warrior isn't just a repack from the SP Wook.

Agreed about the Clonetrooper, seeing that SA one on the way makes the first one avoidable.  I'll probably pick up 1 if I see it, but won't be army building with the "quick draw" version.

I was thinking the same thing, though there will be 3-packs to consider as well.

Great idea! I don't have the old one either, and either way it would be great to have a better-articulated version.

The complete picture of all 56 is a nice treat for us collectors from the Insider.

I can't wait until mine comes in the mail - I'm going to drool over it for hours!

Some of the later figures in this line are just absolutely FANTASTIC - great army builders too - figures #41 - #44, #49 and #53 - #55 are ALL going to be bought for me in multiples!

I wonder if that second R2-D2 in the toy line is a bit smaller and shorter to accomodate the droid socket in Anakin's starfighter? That would be great if it is, then I could get a couple of those and repaint them each for R4-G9 and R4-P17...

I think the Anakin on Mustafar figure is by far my favorite of the line - does anyone think that this figure will come with interchangeable heads and arms like the Dagobah Training Luke does? One crispy head and one yellow glowing eyes head!

This year is going to rock for figures!

That's a nice thought on the Anakin figure Pete_Fett, hopefully that is the case.  It does look like an amazing figure and interchangeable heads/limbs/etc. would make it pretty cool.  I'm curious about the 2nd R2 as well, looks like he could be gadget-tastic (looks like panels can be removed/popped out or something), and if it is pretty good I might just pass on the first offering and pick up this one.

Passing on the following - Super Battle Droid, Destroyer Droid, Spinning Yoda.

Everything else looks damn good, except Mace.  But I'm getting one anyway.

#52 Is that Jett Lucas?  The checklist calls him Tado

I've heard reports now that there is an updated checklist in the Insider as well.  It fixes the number errors found on the Mas Amedda wave (Polis/Mas/ChopperDroid/AT-TE gunner) and makes a few more name changes such as:

III-47 Meena Tillis
III-52 Zett Jukassa

So, it looks like the Mon cal senator has a name, and it looks like Scott is right and "Tado" is now Jett Lucas's character... must be a little pandering to Poppa George with that one.   ::)

Holy ****, all of those last figures look great! So many army builders.

I'm assuming that the Obi-Wan pilot has removable robes, and hopefully much better articulation than the other two Obis. Fingers crossed.

That SA Clone is going to be interesting. Gonna have to army build, and I'd assume they'll start cranking out deco variants right away. I can see them doing the red Shocktrooper version and the blue version seen (a lot) in the trailer.

They all look like they are well done.

I'm apprehensive until I see them in person, though. Early Collection 1 figures looked great in all of the Hasbro pictures, and once in hand are wretched, cheap piles of crap.

Well, I'm sad to see Antilles is the sopping wet pile of diahrea I imagined...  What a shame he got the shaft but Organa's a pretty great figure overall.  Sucks they cut corners on him, even if all he maybe does is stand around.  He strikes me as something of a "soldier" for Alderaan.  Guess Organa's the better fodder figure now.

That said, he's the only disappointment so far...  Barring any minor ones that spring up here and there like the seeming crappiness of the Collection 1 Clone and things.

Screw him though...  The SA looking clone coming later is the one I want.  I'll use Collection 1's for dead clones I guess.  Overall this is shaping up to be some great figures.  I like the AT-RT looking dude too.  A great figure.

We need more though...  I want a SA BARC now that they do a white version of for ROTJ then as well.  :)

Wow.

I'm buying them all. Multiples of Clones, of course.

I'm surprised Hasbro's only making one Vader figure, I figured there'd be two or three in the line-up.
Not that I'm complaining. I have enough Vader figures as it is.

I hope that they put out a paint-op variant of the SA CloneTrooper that looks like this:

I love the blue stripes on these clones for some reason.

I think those Clones look badass too... love the blue pattern - much better than the patterns we saw on the AOTC Clones.

As for Vader - I'm kinda surprised too.  But there is the deluxe Anakin/Vader coming out, as well as the 500th Vader this year.  So that should be at least 3 Vaders, correct?

I don't really care about Antilles one way or another.  I like the Bail Organa flgure and Antilles looks about the same.  I will probably leave it on the pegs in favor of one of the other clones.

I agree that Mace Windu figure blows along with spinning Yoda.  I just don't care to get another SBD, Droideka, nor Battle Droid.  I will probably skip on the first R2-D2 and one of the Kenobi's.

The line on a whole is just gorgeous to me.
Title: Re: The Full 56
Post by: Brian on March 11, 2005, 03:26 PM
I'm leaning towards skipping that first R2 as well, along with spinning Yoda and the battle/super/destroyer droids...I don't need anymore of those.  Other than that, I'm pretty much all in on the basic figures I think, at least depending on funds.  My main problem is trying to figure out what to pick up on that first day (we haven't seen leaks around here).  For AOTC, I basically bought everything that night, only leaving a couple figures I didn't think I'd have any problems finding later (and didn't).  This time, there's a lot more to go around, so it might get a bit pricey.  We'll have to see, but I do agree, overall the line just looks outstanding.  That poster (from Insider I believe) of the "full 56" really makes all the figures look great...even if not all of them end up being quite that spiffy in person.

Emperor is fine.  So is the clone trooper.  Mace is funky and the action feature is fun :-X  Vader's pretty useless, Chewie is freaking huge.  Anakin and Obi are itching to be opened.

WOW!  What  a fan-frickin-tastic picture!  I love how it looks like a real "collection," and not just a bunch of random, differently produced figures.  I'm so, so excited about these toys right now.  I don't have time to look for anything leaking right now,  but I will be first in line on 4/2!

On closer inspection, the only thing that kind of bums me out is the Neimodian Soldier's gun is huge, and it looks like it fires a missle.

But I really like that the Senators come with guns!

I think the only gripe I have is that  I wish there were another Padme.  I'd sure trade her for Antilies or Zett, but I'm sure there are plenty more of her to come.

I think I may skip most early collection 1 figs, considering the options we're getting later on.  Still torn though.  We'll see.

Well, I can't comment on the Emperor, but if Brent's happy perhaps there's some hope.

So far I've opened Obi-Wan 1, Anakin 1, Chewbacca, Darth Vader, Tarfful, Obi 27, and R2-D2. I'm not happy with any of them. If the paint apps or plastic quality aren't bad on the figure, the action feature renders them as either statues or Happy Meal toys. Of all those I've opened, I'm now waiting on better versions of each to come down the pipe. That sucks.

The fact that this complete list already has a third Obi to hopefully start fixing the kidified ones gives me hope.

I've only opened Agen from C2, and in my opinion, he's on par with the new sculpts in OTC.
Title: Re: The Full 56
Post by: Jesse James on March 12, 2005, 02:35 AM
I concur Jared.

I was immediately likening him to the Cantina wave.  He's not perfect, but he's far from bad either.  He has plenty of articulation but can't hold a saber with 2 hands, which sucks...  He has the kickass robe...  It was a neat idea however I still prefer a cloth one made of good material.

Speaking of material, Agen's skirt is cloth but sewn together which is sorta tough to pose his legs then, and it's not the limpest cloth either.  Yet I totally see Agen making a good "Old" Obi-Wan if you wanted one.  :)

His saber's old-school wtih the removable blade AND fits on his belt.  Kick ass!

He's not bad...  Just not perfect.  I like him though, he's fun.  I think some figures will disappoint where a corner's been cut more than Agen does...  Others though I think will look pretty good.

If those damn figs at KM weren't $8 each, I'd have at least gotten a couple more.  :(  KM just put a knife in my heart...  Damn them!

Forgive me if this has already been discussed elsewhere, but another notable )and GOOD) omission is Jar Jar.  Seeing as how there's no figure of him, and I've yet to see him in any footage, it looks like his role has diminished even beyond his brief cameos in AOTC, so that's obviously excellent news.  I wouldn't mind another brief cameo for him in ROTS though, just to see him get waxed...   8)

Got Mace Windu in the mail today... I actually like this figure quite a bit.  The only flaw to me is the shoulders, but when he is holding his lightsaber with both hands he looks just fine.  Very little to complain about... if this figure is considered the turd of the ROTS line, we are in good shape.  He's already way better than most of the initial AOTC stuff!!!

I opened Ani and Obi :-\  Wish I hadn't.  The action feature pretty much ruins any sort of poseability these things had and if that weren't enough, the useless elbow articulation on the left arm ruins it completely.  Blech.
Title: Re: The Full 56
Post by: Brian on March 14, 2005, 09:10 AM
I've been trying to figure out which Ani or Obi would be best to pick up initially (don't want both of each), and it sounds like the first ones out in Series 1 aren't exactly getting glowing reviews.  From that "full 56" poster, it looks like the later ones (Obi Pilot and Crispy Anakin) will probably be the best, although the Anakin isn't exactly a "normal" version.  Nice to see lots of people finding figures early, although its too bad the Col 1 figures aren't exactly getting glowing reviews.  I'm a little disappointed with the excessive yellow highlights on the wookiee figures as well, at least from what I've seen in pictures.  The painting used on the VOTC Chewbacca was just right, too bad they couldn't have followed that standard.  Nothing new around here yet, just preview figures clearanced at Target, and empty pegs at Wal-Mart.

Just out of curiosity - have either of you guys tried to put our two heroes behind the wheel of their respective starfighters?

For me, I'll be extremely disappointed if the only way I get a Anakin pilot figure is to customize one and that I'll have to wait until figure #56 comes out to get the Obi-Wan that can fly his own ship!

Pete, I can't make the comparison for you with the starfighters, they haven't shown up in Canada yet (no Targets).  My disappointment comes from the lack of arm poseability.  The right arms are hooked into the action feature; the left arms are only articulated to rotate at the elbow, not straighten.  I didn't like Ani's face sculpt/coloration from the start, though I did like the Obi figure in the package.  I don't recall the knees being articulated, but I sure hope they are.
