Title: Droid Depot - The Droid Factory Playset
Post by: Jeff on April 15, 2019, 10:34 AM
Disney Galaxy's Edge exclusive 3.75" Droid Factory playset with Gonk Droid revealed at Star Wars Celebration.  Ties into the color changing droid 4-packs.  Looks like there's a spot to fill up with water and then you dunk your droids to change the colors, I guess?

This is a must have.  This is EXACTLY the kind of playset I want.  Well done Hasbro Disney!

*FIXED*

Are we not going to talk about how they've finally updated the vintage blue Power Droid in this set?

I will be looking for this to show up for order outside the park. A proper modern Droid Factory Playset to go with all those Droid Factory figures has been on my want-list for over a decade!

Well done Hasbro!

Not Hasbro, Disney. ;)

Are we not going to talk about how they've finally updated the vintage blue Power Droid in this set?

It is the same droid that was included with the Disney Sandcrawler last year (which is a slight kitbash of the TVC 3-pack power droid version).

Any indications if these are available now at Galaxy's Edge?  Because a trip there could get REALLY expensive between all of these sets, the 6" TBS multipacks, the holocrons and the build your own lightsaber location.  And that's not even including accomodations, food and park admission!!!!

It’s my understanding these are going to be where the other BaD stuff is and not in GE but I could be wrong.

These will be in the Galaxy's Edge shop to start and then eventually be available at other retail locations at the Disney resorts as well as eventually on-line.

Ah ok.  I thought for sure they were going to just be in the other areas with the old BADs.  Which is weird but they aren’t moving the old BADs yet to GE so that’s odd too haha.

I've got a buddy at GE today who offered to look for these for me...  they're not out yet right?

Just heard from my aforementioned buddy, he managed to get me all three new Droid Factory sets, the playset and the two 4-packs.  So I guess they’re out now.

So are the bins in the playset supposed to be a droid oil bath?

Nice score Jeff.  Do you like it?

Looking forward to your review. (Since clearly Jesse does not have it.)

I think I've said it before in this thread but it bears repeating.  The biggest reason I love this is the nod to the vintage playset.  I had a lot of fun with the vintage droid factory when I was a kid and any homage to it is most welcome!

So do we know the price on this set as well as the color change droid 4-packs?

Got my playset and figures tonight from my buddies...  that playset is the bees knees.  It’s a perfect little droid dio.  Lotta thought went into it.  It is a load of fun to mess with.  If I weren’t 42 I could see this being something I had all my figures messing with...  hell, I am 42 and I’m having fun.  Worth it.

Nice score.  This is only at the Disney parks, correct?  I haven't heard much about this thing since the initial news, but am dying to get one.

Yeah it’s only in the Battu area specifically too.  Same with the color change droids, and the rise of resistance escape pod too (which I also got one and love).

The droid playset will make an interesting display for just droids I think.  Fit well on a shelf and things, not too big or complex.
