Hey everyone!
I am looking for some good reference pics of both the CZ-3 droids (seen in sandcrawler and mos eisely, usually white colored with vague protocal droid shape) and the RA-7 droids (also known as Death Star Droid)
I need pics that show the leg details and back veiws of said droids.
I am feeling inspired to give a sculpt of those a try in the near future.

Hmmm sounds like working with it is very similar to FIXIT. That will definitely help in giving me and idea of what to expect if I get some to try out.
Were do you find sculpey III? I have never seen it.  I just see the regular sculpey in most places I go. (I actually still use sculpey once in a while to make a rough shape of something, then do a detailed layer over it with FIXIT, that way when I need to hollow the parts out, the sculpey is the softer and easier to dremel out part.)

Hey Incom and BrentS, what is the cure time on the "green stuff"?
I (when I have time) use FIXIT sculpt now days. Sculpey is good and all for starting sculpting, but if you want to get some really good details, definitely give the FIXIT sculpt a shot. (Just take a look at Sith_Fire30s recent work to see the wonderful details that stuff can hold) My very first attempt sculpting with the stuff allowed me alot more detail than any of my previous sculpey sculpts.

Very cool. I like the combination of parts you got. That and the brick red for something other than a galactic marine is cool too. The Gen 1 Imp Commando also has a very good combo on parts. I like the grey on the helmet.

Thanks guys!
Well, I have made some slight improvements on scupting faces. I just need a bit more practice then I will give ICMG another shot. The problem right now is that I have for some unknown reason turned into a morning person about a month ago. This is a problem because this sleep schedule does not give me much time to work on anything before I have to go to work, then after work I just fall asleep again. Cant seem to shake this messed up sleep schedule. I hate it, I have been a nightowl for the last 12 years...that is when I get the best work done...
So as soon as my schedule is back on track I will try to finish this project and eventually get back to ICMG.

Watto's Junk Yard / Re: Battlestar Galactica...who's watching?
« on: December 12, 2006, 02:22 AM »
And even if she could, I already sat through that for a season in a different series.  I was sooo glad to see the Ana-Lucia wannabe die.

Funny that you mention that, I was discussing BG with a pal this weekend and he joked that they should call the show Battlestar GaLOSTica because there are so many similarities between some of the characters and their purposes on the show...

Hmmm maybe that is why I like both shows... (I could never give up one for the other...)
I think the thing I like most about BSG is consitency and characters that have real-life relatable issues that are not miraculously solved after barely being discovered in the same episode (like so many freaking star trek episodes...bleh...)
It still very much pains me that most people I know in person, hate the new BSG... The only people I know in person that like it is my best friend and my girlfriend's mom. (well my girlfriend likes it, but its not on her priority list of TV shows, she is not the sci-fi geek that her mom is...maybe one day...)
One of my friends that said he could not get into the new BSG, I had to ask him "Do you just have a phobia of good television?"
Not sure if I mentioned this previously, but I like how the Galactica still looked charred and dented many episodes after getting pummelled by the Cylons.

Congrats on the ultimate custom!

Update 11-30-06
After much much delay I finaly have an update!
I finaly opened up my FIXIT Sculpt and decided to attempt to sculpt the helmet for a new type of clone trooper that I have made a few sketches of... The Fallout Trooper. This trooper is trained and equiped to deal with areas of high radiation fallout and other toxic biohazards. They have a secondary duty of assisting in the reactor cores of capital ships and stations.
The body will be sculpted eventually (hopefully very soon if all goes well)
I still have more I want to do with this helmet. It will have a cowl similar to that of snowtroopers and galactic marines, as it would be part of their Radiation Battlesuit. The gas filter areas on the mask will also have air tubes attached to them. I am waiting to add the tubes and cowl after I have sculpted the body to make sure all fits well.

EDIT- 12-01-06
hmmm the more I look at it I keep thinking maybe I should remove the "mouth" peice and details below it and resculpt something else over that area, kinda like a detailed cover that would look like the cowl meeting the rest of the mask. I am keeping the eye details and the air filter attachements though.

Customizing Tips and Tricks / Re: action figure head with glasses?

The first half of the removable marine armor mold was made last night. Just got back from out of town getting molding casting supplies to finish the rest tonight! Incom, the Marine is still top priority..hehe.

Very cool. I remember that custom!

I think what I will do is do the sculpt of Gordon Freeman's head first and make copies (that I can then later use for star wars customs) then scultp just the frames of the glasses on one of the copies. (much the like the 1984 Baroness figure) That way I can have eye details present (and then painted) and just do a very light gloss with maybe a slight shade of blue in the areas where the lenses would be.

Once again wanted to thank you guys for the input on this.
Though this figure wont be worked on right away,  I wanted to get all the information on how best to start it prepared for when I do start on it. Since time is finaly available to me again and I have had some much needed successes with some small detailed articulation peices for my mass produced sculpting figure project, I will with luck start getting some figures done for a change!

Customizing Tips and Tricks / action figure head with glasses?
« on: November 25, 2006, 10:55 AM »
I was wondering if anyone knew of any 1/18 scale figures out there that have sculpts of glasses on them (preferably that look like standard glasses and not stylish sunglasses)
I just want to see how they might have sculted (and painted it) in a way that actually looked like the eyes appear behind the glasses...)

The reason is that after I finaly get arround to finishing some star wars figures, I wanted to try making a few customs based on Half-Life characters, starting with Gordon Freeman.

I had seen this thread had gone to five pages and pondered why it had... After reading the last two pages I understand completely. Trying not to wake up my girlfriend laughing so much...hehe. Great stuff!

Customs Community and Group Projects / Re: UPDATE?? OUTRIDER
« on: November 21, 2006, 12:02 PM »
I could be wrong, but I think I saw him post over at Rebelscum in last week or two... (trying to remember what his user name is over there...)
Do a search over there for some work he has done here. (I think he had three different names that he went by on different forums, but one of them was changed to Outrider a while back...)
