Watto's Junk Yard / Re: Battlestar Galactica...who's watching?
« on: October 21, 2006, 02:14 PM »
Last nights episode was incredible.  I agree that the tactics used by Adama were brilliant.  One the coolest ideas I've seen used in a sci fi/space show or movie.

I'm glad they cleared up the issue with Starbuck's kid.  The age didn't calculate when compared to Boomers baby so I'm glad we got an explanation for it.

IMO this show just keeps getting better.  The way Tigh handled his wife, the outcome with Starbuck and Leoben and the kid, Adama and Apollo with the rescue...just good TV and good sci fi.

Do any of you guys collect 12" Adventure Team Joes?  Hot Topic has an exclusive Land Adventurer figure coming in November.

No price info yet but I'm kind of psyched for him.  I'm hoping that he'll be on their web site but I'll make a drive to Elmira, NY if I have to to score one.

I was less than impressed with the episode.  I don't know what I expected but the season premiers for "Prison Break" and "Heroes" had me much more excited after seeing them.

The best part of the episode?  Kate.  God that girl is hot.

I finally saw Destro about a week ago at WM.  I passed him up but may get him eventually.

I still wish they would do the female figures; Scarlett and Baroness.

I was in Target on Sunday and overheard a guy talking about them.  Apparently Target is selling some in the game section but I didn't go look.

Saga Collection '06 / Re: '06 Holiday Figure
« on: September 15, 2006, 11:34 AM »
I loved the C-3PO/R2 pack as well as Yoda.  The Jawas were a little weak but still nice enough that I bought a set.  The Vader last year, though, was a slap in the face.

I passed.  I won't be back for more holiday figures unless Hasbro steps up and shows some cleverness like they did with the first two releases.

Saga Collection '06 / Re: TSC Imperial Shuttle??
« on: September 15, 2006, 11:31 AM »
Target also has more stores than TRU.  Target has about 1300 US stores while TRU is down to 587.  According to Hasbro's 2005 numbers they sell 24% of their goods to Wal-Mart and TRU and Target are tied for second at 12% each.

It's possible that, just based on the number of retail outlets, Target can move more of an exclusive than TRU can.  That lowers the price.

The other thing about the AT-AT, for comparison, is that that vehicle still has the sound feature, has more moving parts and comes with 2 figures now as well.  I'd think that the Falcon is a better comparison and that sells for the same or a little less than what the Shuttle will be this time around.

I don't know if this will be a Black Friday item but I found it odd that Hasbro didn't take the opportunity to announce it this week when they started pimping out all the other Target exclusives for this fall.  A Black Friday sale was the only thing I could come up with for it's absence from that list.  If Matt's saying no, then it probably won't be released then.  I just can't explain why Hasbro isn't shouting about it.  Especially when they could use it in a Friday Q&A; "See, we do make vehicles.  Here's a great big ship for $60.  So, quit-yer-bitchin'!"

I'm with Bill on this one.  Lucy Pinder is hot but she just doesn't do it for me.

Nice!  I'm not sure if I'd seen that poster before.

I should rip that VHS to DVD and use that for the cover art.

Watto's Junk Yard / Re: New Line has license for 'The Hobbit'
« on: September 11, 2006, 06:11 PM »
I don't think I'd want to see the Hobbit done if Jackson doesn't direct it.  He gets the story, understands it.  Even though some people disagreed with his adaptation of LOTR it's absolutely incredible and I don't know if another director could have done it.

Maybe Spielberg or Cameron or Ridley Scott...someone on that level maybe.  But, if Spielberg directed I'd be too afraid that Tom Hanks would end up in the film.   ;D

Adam, did you have those at the store yesterday?  You should have pimped them out at the meeting.
