Title: Holo Yoda?
Post by: Darby on March 4, 2005, 04:36 PM
Are they insane? (http://www.action-figure.com/modules.php?op=modload&name=News&file=article&sid=14204&mode=thread&order=0&thold=0)

I wonder if this is just NYC TRU, and not all over.  Talk about taking advantage of your customers.   ::)

Post by: Darth Broem on March 4, 2005, 05:26 PM
Oh, well in that case I won't be on a mission to get this.  I thought they would do the $20 worth of Star Wars purchases and then get it free.  I was going to do that and then go to Target and buy $20 worth there and get that Vader for free.

Guess it's back to spending $5.88 at Wal-Mart for me if both places are going to set the limit at $35.

Post by: Jesse James on March 4, 2005, 05:33 PM
$35 or $20, it doesn't really matter I guess unless the spending limit I had set was $20 anyway...  Seems like there's plenty enough to work up a $35 tab between a couple of stores to get the exclusive...

Hell it'd be borderline worth paying that just to avoid a Wal-Mart after the experiences I've had there the last couple days, haha.

Now, if figures were $1 or $2 more at another store, then I'd definitely go to WM, just out of principle of not paying more than what the SRP is...  That's a rip-off.
Title: Re: $35 for Holo Yoda?!?!
Post by: Darth Broem on March 4, 2005, 05:54 PM
Yeah, you are right.  I plan to get at least $100 worth of merchandise on 4/2.  Maybe more.  I was just kind of surprised it was $35.  They know the diehards are going to pay that the first day.  There sure is enough product to do so.

Post by: Jesse James on March 4, 2005, 06:18 PM
Yeah I think it's just a way to "guarantee" themselves more of their crap goes than the next guy.

I'm not planning to buy a TON right away but I think I can eek out $35 at TRU...  Dunno how Target's handling their deal though with the Vader.   :-\

Post by: JayDouble on March 4, 2005, 06:24 PM
$35 = Unleashed Grevious  and like 4-5 figures, not a problem.   Thats means I should qualify for at least 10 Yodas, lol.   ;D
Title: Re: $35 for Holo Yoda?!?!
Post by: JediMAC on March 4, 2005, 07:50 PM
I obviously won't have a problem spending the $35, of course.  I'll be dropping about 20x that, I'm anticipating...  I just hope they'll give me TWO of the things without a hassle, even if I have to ring my **** up separately.

Then I've got to do more of the same over at Target the next morning, to nab a couple of the exclusive Vaders as well.

I just hope there's no shortages on these figures at either chain, and that they have enough decent MOMC figures to go around as well.
Title: Re: $35 for Holo Yoda?!?!
Post by: Darby on March 4, 2005, 08:35 PM
I'll be spending $35 for sure, but I just think it's a bit dodgy considering previous promotions like this only cost $20.  And since I wanted two, this might make it hard for a poor boy like me.  Assuming they even let you buy two.
Title: Re: $35 for Holo Yoda?!?!
Post by: Ben on March 4, 2005, 11:52 PM
I was kind of hoping for two as well, but I guess I'll stick with just one, since I'm trying to avoid buying carded figures until clearance time.

I just hope there's enough for everyone who wants one. The Silver figures disappeared pretty quick around here, but that was also at $20.
I doubt I'll have a problem dropping $35, though.
Title: Re: $35 for Holo Yoda?!?!
Post by: Pete_Fett on March 5, 2005, 03:10 PM
I think the limit of one-per-person was set in Times Square to ensure the maximum number of people get them on the opening night. While the Times Square store might be getting the most in stock, I'm confident that a good number will show up at each store. If you go in right when they open you should have good success in scoring as many as you need.

If they give me a hard time I'll just have them ring up my stuff in parts. It will be easy to come up with three or four $35 purchases!

After hearing all the hoops that one has to jump through to get the Lavader, does anyone have any info on how the Holo Yoda will be made available?  Hopefully, it will just be on the pegs at TRU like the rest of the figs on 4/2.
Title: Re: Holo Yoda?
Post by: Jeff on March 16, 2005, 10:29 AM
There was a press release for the TRU Times Square store in NYC that said it was a "Buy $35, get one free" deal, but we haven't see any other confirmations of that at other stores just yet...

Title: Re: Holo Yoda?
Post by: Pete_Fett on March 16, 2005, 10:45 AM
My guess is that TRU will be the more accomodating of the two stores. Target is just being jerks with regards to their exclusive, especially since the hoops don't involve moving any E3 products from their stores.

TRU on the other hand wants you to buy stuff from them and get the Yoda for free. My guess is that there will be pegs of Yoda just like there were pegs of the last Silver Vader and if you want to get it for $9.99 you can, otherwise if you spent $35 you get him for free.

The Target situation is laughably bad.  I don't think the Holo Yoda will be a problem at all (at least I hope not) especially if he's available online.

That's great news. My plan is to order 1 when it goes up and not sweat the need to get one asap in the middle of Midnight Moronicness. I can bend all my will towards getting 2 of the stupid Target things.

This just in from today's TRU Press Release (http://phx.corporate-ir.net/phoenix.zhtml?c=120622&p=irol-newsArticle&t=Regular&id=689173&):

Star Wars: Episode III Revenge of the Sith Holographic Yoda Figure from Hasbro

Jedi Master Yoda, a close friend of the Wookiees, travels to their homeworld of Kashyyyk to help personally spearhead the Republic defense of that planet. While there, the revered Jedi sends a holographic transmission to the Jedi Council to discuss recent ominous events. The Holographic Yoda figure features unique translucent styling and is available only at Toys "R" Us beginning April 10 as a gift with a Hasbro Star Wars purchase of $25 or more. Not sold separately. While supplies last. No batteries required. Ages 4 and up.

No need to go to midnight madness I guess if they won't even have Holo Yoda yet...  >:(

What?!?!? available April 10th?

Now this completely throws all of my plans into disarray. Do I go to TRU hoping that the date is a blunder in the release or do I just wait it out at Target?
Title: Re: Holo Yoda?
Post by: Morgbug on March 28, 2005, 11:24 AM
 :o ::)

Are stores actively trying to kill the line?  Doesn't anyone grasp the point here?
Hey, get here by 6:30 to get your Vader but you can only have one and there's only a few per store.  Sheesh.

Oh yeah, come to midnight madness to buy stuff that will be on sale in two months for half the price and by the way, we won't have our exclusive at this time.

Well, we have an exclusive too, but we're not going to tell you what it is.  Neener, neener, neener.

Is this a Hasbro action plan, or are these idiots doing it on their own? :-\
Title: Re: Holo Yoda?
Post by: Scott on March 28, 2005, 11:26 AM
Oh man that is a total relief, I should be able to get that on-line now instead of having to worry about it at TRU that night.  Hmm, this means I may buy nothing at TRU at all that night and may just wait for the morning for Target or Wal-Mart depending on the coupon status
Title: Re: Holo Yoda?
Post by: Pete_Fett on March 28, 2005, 11:34 AM
I think they ARE trying to kill the line - I think they PLAN on making the die-hard collectors frustrated on the 2nd - that can be the ONLY reason for all of this bull**** going on!

Let's look at it all...

1) TRU has the exclusive Yoda which is why MANY people would be going to Midnight Madness at their stores, but now they claim the figure won't be in the stores until April 10th - that is just STUPID. Whoever is responsible for that timing should just flat out be fired from TRU.

2) WalMart has an "Early Bird" kit that no one is able to report on what it is exactly - so it is either a huge turd or something that is going to take everyone by surprise and piss off a lot of people who aren't able to grab one -- the only comfort here is the $30 price tag. But my bet is that its garbage, otherwise we'd be hearing hype about it already. For example: if it was a kit containing four SA Clone Commandos as a tie-in to the new video game (and by some off-chance they appear in the movie), collectors would be STOKED to get this set and if I was WalMart I would be screaming the news that this existed from the highest of mountain-tops to make sure my store was THE PLACE to be come April 2nd.

3) Target is having the Nazi party handle the distribution of their exclusive Darth Vader figure, but reports have come in that there will be other exclusives as well in the form of cups and the micro stuff. While the micro stuff doesn't interest me personally, the fact that there will be more cups w/figures to go with the rest of the already established set of five has me concerned since we haven't seen a single picture yet.

oh, and one more for good measure...

4) KB Toys is re-releasing the VOTC Chewbacca 13" figure with a new paint job and new EP3 packaging when we just got this exact same figure not even a year ago - real original guys!

All-in-all this is just going to turn out to be one VERY frustrating weekend.

Well, while it sucks, tha April 10 makes sense for TRU.  Regardless of an exclusive, I'll spend a bundle at TRU  at MM.  Now, with Yoda hitting April 10, I HAVE TO go back to TRU and sepnd 25 bucks.  It's really quite genius.  Well, I'll save a ship or two for April 10!

On paper it is - but there are loop-holes. I'll just save some of my receipts from April 2nd from TRU and then when I find the Holo Yoda, I'll buy what I need to get the item and then I'll use my receipts from April 2nd to return that merchandise.

It's a dirty trick, but I'm not going to wait until April 2nd to buy stuff HOPING that (a) product will still be there and (b) the product that is there will be in good shape.

Since they are doing it like this, I partly believe that like the previous Silver figures, you will be able to buy the Holo Yoda for $9.99 and save yourself the hassle of the $25 of merchandise.

Man that sucks, whats the point then. I dont get what Hasbro is doing. This is just a huge mess.

Title: Re: Holo Yoda?
Post by: Darth Broem on March 28, 2005, 02:14 PM
I tend to agree with the frustrated folks.  I am not that bothered about the Toys R Us exclusive even if they move it back to the 10th.  I am sure most of us can think of another reason to drop $25 on some kind of merchandise they want.  Then get a free figure.  Sucks if you can't make it on the 10th though.

The Target and WM exclusives are just being executed in a tremendously stupid way.  As for Kay-Bee's Chewy I don't have a Kay-Bee near me any longer after their closings.  I forgot about them but I don't like that 12 inch figure regardless.

And to complete the set, here's the Hasbro update on TRU:

April 2nd at TRU (http://www.hasbro.com/starwars/pl/page.retailer_promos/sub.tru/dn/default.cfm)

Nothing that wasn't in the press release earlier today, but they do confirm the April 10th date for Holo Yoda, NOT Midnight Madness.

You know - I'm starting to consider skipping TRU - if I get a coupon for $1 off each figure, that may seal the deal (so to speak) - I'd much rather take my chances with Target and grab all my stuff there after I've picked up the Lava Vader - if I line up at Target right when they close at 10PM the night before, I'm bound to be the first person in line...

I'm actually slightly relieved that it's not until the 10th -- one less thing to worry about on the 2nd. Besides, I'll have no problem finding something else to drop $25 on.
Title: Re: Holo Yoda?
Post by: Darby on March 28, 2005, 09:37 PM
I actually would prefer they have it on 4/2, since by a week later I will have committed all my MM funds to taking advantage of the cheaper prices at Target and WM.

You know, the more I think about this, the more genius it becomes:

You come in, April 2nd, and buy a whole messload of stuff.

You come back April 10 and buy 35 dollars more stuff too.

I guess I'll just buy the ARC-170 April 10th at TRU and pick up my free Yoda.

I might swing by TRU on MM to see if they do put it out then. I don't think they'd want to miss out on all the hoopla, but then again this April 10th is quite genius in a certain respect.

You have got to be kidding me... just two days before hand they change their minds?

From Toys "R" Us (via their new pimp):

Quote
EXPERIENCE THE FOLLOWING STAR WARS REVENGE OF THE SITH OPPORTUNITIES ONLY ALL THE PARTICIPATING 315 NEIGHBORHOOD TOYS R US STORES THAT WILL BE OPENING ON FRIDAY APRIL 1ST AT MIDNIGHT:

Limited quantities of the Hasbro Star Wars Revenge of the Sith Holographic Yoda figure will be available to purchase. Limit one per customer while supplies last.

SO, if you want to BUY Yoda, show up on Midnight Madness.  If you want him for FREE, wait until April 10th and hope your store still has some left...   ::)

Ugh. I guess TRU is back on for Friday night, but I still don't think they will be my first stop. I'll buy the figure for safety during MM and then hope to return it after securing a freebie on the 10th.
Title: Re: Holo Yoda?
Post by: Pete_Fett on March 31, 2005, 12:53 PM
This IS truly frustrating.

Granted, I hadn't planned on NOT going to TRU MM anyway so it makes no difference to me really. Even though there will be Walmarts open at midnight, my step-son and I are still going to TRU 'cause we've gone to TRU both for EP1 and EP2 so we want to do it for the third and final time for EP3 - we're branching out this year with our plans to immediately get in line at Target as soon as we're done at TRU and then jet over to WalMart, after we've grabbed more figures (for $1 off) and picked up the Lava Vaders, to grab a couple of those Early Bird Kits...

Now more than ever, I'm glad I'm sticking to our original plans and checking out TRU to see if we can score a couple (if not more) Holo Yodas....

For what it's worth, TRU has the Holo Yoda (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B0007PGJB2/jedidefender-20) listed on Amazon.com.

I wonder if this will be available online on April 2 too?

I think Toys R Us isn't the one waivering so much.  It's Philip.  ;)

If Yoda's out a week later, I'll probably just hold off on picking up the couple large vehicles or the Mustafar playset, so I can get a free Yoda with those instead.  I can handle waiting.  More than enough stuff to chase after already as it is...
Title: Re: Holo Yoda?

That is what I will do also.  Not sure which $20-$30 item I will get?  I actually like the Jedifighter with Anakin exclusive.  I might buy the Mustafar set though.  Eh, spur of the moment decision that day for me.

Hey, April 10 is my birthday so that will be a nice present for myself.

RS - Yes Yoda will be at MM
TRU - he's out Apr-10th
PW - MM TRUs will have Yoda
PW - Uh, maybe not out after all

What sucks is that now, I'll probably still head to TRU tonight just in case Yoda shows up since no one has a ******* clue as to what the hell is going on...

Title: Re: Holo Yoda?

RS's April 2nd reporting has been less than helpful. They've actually created more confusion than anything else. At least I got an email pointing me to TRU's site that really helped out. Oh, wait... has that already been discussed?  ;)

I called a few stores yesterday (and need to do so again today) and was told by one store they would have the Yoda for sale along with the rest of the figures. The second store told me they were holding them for the 10th ad. I think the truth is somewhere in the middle, like TRUs have been instructed they can sell a set amount of their allocated inventory starting April 2.

What a pain in the ass.

I just got back from a TRU in Harrisburg.  Contrary to most reports, they DID have Holographic Yodas available.  They got in one case, which unfortunately ran out before I could get one.  But the guy said they'd be getting more for their promotion on the 10th.

It's too late to help anybody on the East Coast, but I figure your West Coast guys might want to adjust your plans accordingly.   ;)

I know Raspet and a bunch of guys he went out with actually got the Yodas at their TRU.  First 11 through the door got one, and they all got there at 11:15pm.  Sounds like it was crazy all over.

Picked up the holo yoda this morning In knoxville, Tn. We have two in the area. I was tipped of at 10:23 that one of my buddys picked one up for 9.99. I went to the one near me and was told the would be avaliable on the 10th. I made a mad dash to the one my friend got his at and they still had four behind the counted and was given one when i ask about it.

The tip was appreciated Bill, I think it potentially did help some folks out.  Good news there.

I didn't even go to MM so I had no hope there...  Not been to the Pitt forums to see what the guys got in their hauls last night, so I need to pop in there.  I've been draggin' all day so no time spent online really.

Thanks for that heads up again though, that was mighty kind.  Catch ya at Bob's room party most likely, or at the PSWCS table at C3.  I'll be at the FFURG table some.

That's me. ;) Yep I got my Holo Yoda ... there were only twelve and I was fifth in the line (at least originally). Neener neener to all the rest of you that missed out. :P Sorry for rubbing it in, it's just that this is the first time I've scored anything that could be considered a rare exclusive. That was the fear I was having.  I ordered mine around 12:05 online and it was already shipping Sat morning.  I received my track number to confirm.  I just wish I would of ordered two since my TRU did not get any of these in ???  And I had planned on using the online one for my loose collection.

Strange.  My order is due to get to my house on Wednesday.  Well, if there's any kind of a goof, I can rest assured thanks to the one Holo Yoda I got at the Times Square TRU today.

Anybody else get lucky?
Yeah I did and so did 4 others in MN :)

The TRU in Toms River, NJ had a single case of 12, they gave them out to the first twelve people in line Friday night. My son and I were #1 and #2 so we were lucky enough to get two.

It was nice to get it so easily, but we had to step aside to get the two figures and since they let everyone in at once, by the time we got to the display it was CHAOS. So we ended up not being able to grab as much as we wanted - it turned out okay though since I found everything I needed by the end of the weekend (for the most part)...

Our local TRU didn't have a MM event, so haven't seen those here.  Are they still possibly showing up on the 10th?  That was sort of what I was waiting for and avoided ordering one online, so hopefully that is the case.

The Holo Yodas weren't supposed to be out at Midnight Madness - they were really supposed to come out on the 10th as a gift-with a $25 purchase.

If your store didn't have a MM and didn't put them out yet, they are probably following instructions and saving them for the 10th.

So are these all sold out already? Or will they still be available on 4/10 for those of us who didn't get any yet??   :(

I have a feeling Amazon shut down orders for the figure after the MM window was over, so they'll have parallel stock for the 10th. I'm not worrying... yet.  :)

I think we should be able to get this.  They have always come through with the silver figures - R2-D2 and the Sandtrooper - in the past at least.

Good news!  Amazon e-mailed me that my order has been shipped.  Phew.

So it looks like these guys should still be available on the 10th.  They sure put a good scare in me though...

Got mine from Amazon as well, both arrived in excellent condition...

I actually opened one of mine to join the loose collection.  It appears the Yoda is the Saga Yoda from the Yoda w/Padawan 2-pack.

The best part is he is just like the Saga Padawan Yoda - no peg holes in his feet, so much for using the peg that is on the holo "jungle" base!  :P

Pretty cool figure, looks pretty good mixed in with the Jedi council - too bad there was no holo cane that came with him.   :(

Got mine today as well.

I think I want another one to keep carded, but I'm avoiding ROTS packaged figures at all costs, so I doubt it'll happen.

Damn, these must have been on Amazon for like 15 minutes. I checked repeatedly on Friday night around midnite and never saw the page go "live" to order them  :-\

And of course, the two TRU stores I went to on 4/2 didn't get any of them  :'(

If anyone needs one, drop me a line.  There are a bunch of these on the pegs now at my TRU.  I picked a couple of extras up last night that I will sell for cost or will work out some kind of trade.

I doubt it. That would kind of defeat the purpose of releasing it on 4/10.

But I bet there are some TRU employees that might do it. Doesn't hurt to try.

How did it go for everyone that went to TRU today?

I managed to get my 1 opener and 1 carded Yoda, but I had to go to two stores, and frustration, to do so.

The first and closest TRU I went to had no new merchandise on the floor. No ARC-170 or Gunship advertised in their Sunday ad, no new figures, no AT-RTs, nothing. Not even the Unleashed figures that I was putting off until today. In order to amass $50 worth of merchandise for two Yodas, I was forced to pick up a Boga, BARC Speeder, Sneak Preview Starfighter, and Agen Kolar. But, when I reached the checkout, they were limiting the freebie to one per customer. They wouldn't let me break up my merchandise into two purchases, either. So instead of selling $55-odd worth of merchandise to a customer, they got $30. Then, the Yoda was unceremoniously pitched into the bag. Thud.

I got the car, checked it out, and it looked terrible, Banged up, dented, the works. I took it back inside, went to the customer service counter, and asked for a nice one -- if they're going to limit them, I figured it was the least they could do. The woman takes mine, grabs another, passes it to me... and it's thrashed, too. When I say that's no good, she hastily grabs the box from below, huffs it on the counter, and rolls her eyes as she turns away.

Quality, all the way!

I drove to the next TRU and found basically the same situation with their inventory, so I asked the counter (this time, someone helpful) for a figure. She opened up a new box and let me root through for a nice one. I just paid the 9.99 for it since I was sick of all the bull****.

I suppose I could have just bought some duplicate figures of earlier figures from MM at Walmart, and returned them at the Wally store, but this whole experience with exclusives has been absolute bull**** and I'm more than happy to pay 10 bucks to have it over with.

Today did nothing to help my opinion of Toys R Us.

I got me one today with a purchase. They weren't out on the pegs, but behind the counter so it was still in pretty good shape. If I ever see em on the pegs, I may get another one, but I'm glad I was able to get him today.

I got one of only 12 my store got.  I'm glad I went early, I would have been upset if I missed out on him.  They had the ARC-170 but no new figs.  I bought five I didn't have yet.

I was able to get two minty holo Yoda's today.  J, at my local TRU in AZ the condition of the figures was just fine.  I got a Luke X-Wing and Tusken Raider Unleashed that I had been waiting to get for the opportune time.

My wife and I tried getting a Vader Bank, but the clerk said only Hasbro items so I got two more Luke X-Wing Unleashed.  Hopefully at the TRU by my job they will have a ROTS Ani and Obi to exchange the extras for.

It seemed like my local TRU had a limited shipment.  The clerk mentioned she had 7 left.

Goof figure and great card / cardback.  While reading the back of the card...

This Yoda figure was created especially for Toys R Us to celebrate the release of the final episode in the Star Wars saga, Revenge of the Sith.

...it dawned on me that the end is almost here.  Boy I hope this is a great movie!

I was able to get one this morning 4/12, as I was visiting my friend in Champaign last night.  I looked for $25 worth of stuff to get, but they were pretty cleaned out.  I went to the counter and asked the lady if I could just buy it for the $9.99 and she said sure.   :)

I headed to TRU about 20 minutes after it opened yesterday, but there was no sign of the Holo Yodas at our particular store.  No big deal I guess, hopefully they'll show up on Amazon again, I've been checking every so often just in case.

I was there right when it opened and got mine.  They did not seem to have a shortage but did not really ask.  It's an ok exclusive but you are not missing anything IMO if you don't get it.  I was glad to get it for "free" with my other purchases.

That stuff sucks.  I can see maybe loosening up the "rules" a bit if by the second or third day there's some left, and maybe someone wants an extra one, but 20 of them...c'mon.

My TRU had a bunch of them in a bin, all with a $9.99 price sticker.  I grabbed the mintiest one, decided what to buy to get to $25 (two figures and the Boga) and checked out.  No problems whatsoever.  I imagine I could have bought it outright for $10 and have no problems.  It's easy to argue when the price sticker is right on the merchandise.

In the UK you had to buy 2 figures to get a Holo yoda.  Needless to say they disappeared almost immediately.  I could not go to MM as I was unwell but fortunately the offer was available online (very briefly) so I was able to get 2 clones for an "army" and a Holo Yoda  :)

Interesting tid bit I stummbled upon because of the Holo Yoda's. On Sunday 4/10 I tried o get credit for the Yoda I bought with a $25 purchase at MM and was denyed saying that corporate said they wouldnt allow it. Figuring that the manager was giving me a hard time, I went again on Monday to try again as was told that they couldnt because they dropped their price guaranty policy. I called Customer service to confirm, and that did go into effect on Monday the 11th, the day after I asked for the credit.

CS told me to talk to the manager from Sunday and ask for the credit and if they refuse, to call them back.

If you can still find one at your local TRU, yes they should be willing to simply sell it to you for $9.99.

One TRU near me just put them all in a bin and let you buy them OR get them for free with a $25 purchase. In sharp contrast another store near me kept them all behind the customer service counter and only let you have one if you were going to purchase $30 worth of stuff. However, last Friday they finally decided "screw it" and put what they had left on a single peg. They didn't last long there.

I bought all my stuff at Wal-mart on the first day.  I figured I'd wait on TRU, because the Yoda wouldn't be out until April 10.

So on April 10 -- I forgot.

I went a few days later, and the first thing I did was stop at customer service and ask.  The kid didn't know and the older woman seemed annoyed that I asked, but said they were out and didn't know if they'd get more in.

So, I walked over to the section, where a big printed sign proclaimed that "Holo Yodo is free with purchase" -- so I took the sign down and took it over to the customer service desk and said they should take the sign down if they don't have any in stock.

By the time I left, the sign was back up.  So I went back to customer service and asked for the district manager's name and told 'em my beef.  The two women that were at the desk then, and some customer who had to stick his nose in, all said the sign was fine because it said "while supplies last."  They told me to call 1-800-TOYSRUS to complain.

So I did, and talked to some guy in India, who didn't seem to understand my complaint.  Then some other guy from India called me back and said he was at the corporate office and tried to make excuses too.  Finally, he said he'd have someone call me back.

It took a couple of days to actually connect, but that person was actually at the local store.  I told him it's my own fault I missed the figure, but they shouldn't advertise it as though they have them in stock.  The "while supplies last" is there in case I walk up two minutes after they handed the last one out.  He said he understood my complaint, and he'd discussed it with the district manager and they'd agreed to take the signs down.  And if I still wanted a Yoda, he'd picked one up while he was at another store an hour away and he'd put my name on it.

Long story -- happy ending. :)
