The Vintage Collection / Re: The Street Date Debate
« on: August 6, 2010, 09:01 AM »
So is today the "street date"?  Was at my local Wally today and they had a spot for the new Vintage, SL and CW, but nada.  They did have three versions of Walmart management discussing the arrangement of the toy isles (really, don't they get a print out that shows them where to put everything?).

So "should" they have had them on the shelf today?

Finally found this today, glad I can stop hunting for stuff at K-Mart.  :P

Is that because going to K-Mart is depressing or its nearly impossible to find anytihng in the Toy section?   I'm thinking their stocking method is to shoot items out of one of those t-shirt guns randomly into the toy area...

Got my pair of Eopies today!

Welcome to 2009!

Pssh, I never bought anything like this during EP1, so more like 'welcome to 1999'.  :)

My 4 yr old wanted to play with the "horsey".  Close enough.

I'm not a Joe collector, so I don't venture into this part of the board much.  But I have to share.  I was at my local Wally this morning to see if they put out any of the new Vintage SW.  They looked like they were doing a reset on the whole toy section and had lots of stuff moved over near electronics on "clearance".  They had red stickers on about a half dozen GI Joe figures (they were the brunette in the black body suit and a blonde in urban camo).  They were marked at $9.88.  I'm pretty sure I could have bought these on non-clearance last week for like $6, right?  Oh Wal-Mart.....

Went by a Target in STL today, they had set up the aisle and had the mid size vehicles out, $24.99 each. No problems scanning.

Also of note - there was 12 feet of shelf space for new figuers, including a lot of pegs:

12 Vintage
8 Legends
4 Clone Wars

My Target near Albany, NY had 8 pegs for Vintage, 8 for Legends, 4 for Clone wars.  I think they actually had 6 pegs for Galactic Heroes.  Not that it necessarily equates to the total volume that the lines are selling, but it sure seems to be a strange mix.

Another sorta sissy-looking Mandalorian, but I'm used to it.  I guess they're all kind of not tough looking except maybe Boba and Jango.

I can not for the life of me remember his name, but he looks just like a comic I saw on Comedy Central the other day..  Down to the haircut & everything...

Found him, Shane Mauss.

Not vouching for his comedy, just that he looks like Jodo....

Nice score!  Can you post the UPC when you have a chance or PM me with it?  My Kmart will probably let it sit in the stock room for a year.

Not sure which digits is technically the UPC (hides face in shame), so here's what the bottom of the figure says:

6   (lines extend down from barcode)  53569  (more lines) 50374  (lines) 3

Does that mean its 6 53569 50374 3  ? :-[

WOOO HOOO.  Found Jodo Kast at my local K-Mart last night.  There were about 9 or so of them.  He was $8.99, which isn't bad because figures at regularly $8.49 or so at that store.

I didn't open him yet, I had to wrap birthday presents last night...

Interesting that there's nothing packed inside the bubble, as in no advertisements for other figures etc.  He comes with his helmet, jetpack, etc.

Happy hunting!

Found the Republic Commando 2-pack today at TRU.  Very pleased that Hasbro made some Commandos.

On JTA, bottom pick, you can see in the shelf below there is a ARF Trooper on an AT-RT, and then another yellow colored walker, right?

What is that other walker?  Has legs more like an AT-ST, right?

Are these the first all-white clones with removable helmets?

Um, did it occur to you that you could offer to push the button for that person right away, making the need for them to be anywhere near a button obsolete?  Maybe it all happened too fast for that.  I rarely hear people ask for help with something like that because they are too shy or don't want to bother others.  I often hold the door and ask others what floor they want to help avoid situations just like that.

I do the same thing, if I'm the first one on, today I was 5th.  I'll frequently hit the button for my floor and ask people where they are headed, or I continue further into the elevator to make room for others.  But I can't offer to help someone when they are first on the elevator and have successfully blocked the entire doorway to the elevator (still not sure how one person managed to block a space 6 feet across, but it happened).  I don't know if its because our building is currently occupied by only a single company (or collectively we're very lazy and most people have gotten pretty good at elevator etiquette), but I regularly hear people asking others to press the button for a certain floor for them.

My point is what happened today was remarkable for how the elevator experience typically goes, and that is annoying.
