The Vintage Collection / Re: Big Items of the Future!
« on: November 23, 2022, 02:36 AM »
I’m still holding out hope for an Imperial Cargo Shuttle from Rogue One that would have the rest of the Rogue One crew as stretch goals.

Ooooo. That'd be a great one I hadn't really considered. If they put it out, they'd have the orange crates from the hovertank to pack-in as well. Hasbro would also be able to rerelease any of the crew members individually in the main line down the road. Just give them a slightly different accessory or cardback in the Has-Lab version and some people would even double dip.

For me, I'd be most likely to back a project from the OT, Rogue One, Andor, The Mandalorian, or the 3-D Animated series. I'd be much pickier projects from Solo, the Prequel, or Sequel trilogies.

I forgot all about this today... oh well at $22.99 I'm not particularly upset.

Denver also has Axe Woves and Morak Fett starting to show up in numbers, but only at select stores. I feel like the Target exclusives have been hit or miss on the pegs. Migs & R2 (Droids) were both pretty easy to find around here, Morak Fett & Axe are starting to look like they might be easier to find, and then Fett (Droids) & Koska Reeves were non-existent in Denver.

I'll be patient with this one and wait to see if it shows up and if it looks decent. At that price, I may even wait it out to see if it drops as Migs did...

Nah. You're wayyyyy off. Sim Aloo will be a surprise reveal next year. He's just a new head and a soft goods robe on any old body they want.
The last 96er figure will be Hammerhead. He's too much new tooling.

Don't forget the Kenner colors Hammerhead & Greedo repaints. Maybe a new Obi-Wan in regular colors first, and then a Kenner-colored rerelease.

I've struggled with this list. I have only seen the movies a few times each, and don't have a huge interest in figures from the trilogy outside of a few, but there is also so much that is still to be made. I am going to go with a combination of figures mostly from the other lists in this thread, a few cool aliens/droids:

  • Knight of Ren Cardo
  • Knight of Ren Kuruk
  • Knight of Ren Trudgen
  • Knight of Ren Ushar
  • Knight of Ren Vicrul
  • TFA - Han Solo (main outfit)
  • TFA - Lor San Tekka
  • TFA - HURID-327
  • TFA - Maz Katana
  • TFA - Unkar Plutt
  • TFA - Grummgar
  • TLJ - Ahch-To Caretaker
  • TROS/TLJ - Kylo Ren - Supreme Leader (w/ swappable heads)
  • TROS - Rey (main outfit)
  • TROS - Finn (main outfit)
  • TROS - Ben Solo
  • TROS - Palpatine (Rejuvenated)
  • TROS - Clone/Rotting Palpatine
  • TROS - Wedge Antillies (final battle)
  • TROS - Lando Calrissian (final battle)

I do like that the head is different. I can't tell if it's new or a re-use of Boba Fett.

I think it is just a repaint of the Morak/Tatooine Fett head. Looking at the image and the figure side-by-side the sculpt seems to line up. It does at least look good with the shaved head paint. Like Nick, I really wish they would have used this headsculpt on the Bad Batch Captain Rex release.

Hard to get really excited for this one, I ended up getting two since it is at least "regular" price (even if that regular price is the new $16.99...) I still like the Clones and ARCs, and am totally falling prey to these gimmick releases. I had missed the SDCC version, so this only feels like the SIXTH time I've seen this sculpt. And I have at least liked most of the decor versions. They had better start putting some Separatists and aliens into the line for them to fight though, or I'm going to lose interest real fast in future clone releases of any kind.

Oooffff. This is not good. The blatant price gouging of the Fett tax is ridiculous (especially apparent with so many Fett-themed items being released, and then re-released, over the last few years). If this was just a regular figure in the line at the standard price, fine. I wouldn't have been overly excited since it is just a gimmick-repaint but it is cool enough looking.

But releasing it as an exclusive with a price tag $8.00 more expensive than the version that came out two years ago? Get out of town. [Keeping politics out of this next bit] With inflation up everywhere globally, people are already worried about money and starting to change how they spend, especially with discretionary spending. I wonder how many collectors will start considering ditching the hobby if Hasbro keeps being this blatant with the Fett-Tax and the number of repaints, repack, and kitbashes in the current line. I feel like I've seen a few more of the more "prominent" collectors on social media starting to hint they are getting fed up or losing interest. I can't imagine the TVC line will survive another 1-2 years if Hasbro continues managing it like this.

The Vintage Collection / Re: 2023 TVC Wave 3 (New TVC Wave 29)

I absolutely love Andor and wanted tons more figures from the show... this however would not have been my first choice for the next figure. I'd have much rather had a NEW character, rather than a second Andor figure, but I get it. They could have at least given us screen-accurate legs/boots, the shoulder-strapped E-10 blaster rifle & the correct blaster pistol. I'd want the rest of the crew from the Aldhani raid too. I'd buy a 4 pack of them if they fixed the issues.

I really wish they just announce a whole wave at a time so that it was easier to combine orders. I ended up only getting two of this one, if it was screen-accurate and $4-$5 cheaper, I would have done several more than that.

I noticed my local Target has an empty peg set for these guys already on an endcap, (no figures in stock). I thought these weren’t due out until next year… Has anyone else seen this at Targets or seen these guys popping up yet?

It sure seems totally unnecessary to have carded the Scout Trooper in the set. I guess that partially explains the price. I really wish they'd have left the pack-in loose and then put it on a card the next time they inevitably re-release/re-pack it.

I do really like the detail that the mortars are basically the canisters that stormtroopers have on their back belts. I know these are largely just another repaint, but I really dig it. I'm in for a few. Pretty cool touch that the backpack holds all the extra shells:

I’m really hoping it’s a blurrg too. We haven’t had a beast in the TVC line since the 2010 Tauntaun. (Not counting Jabba with the Khetanna).

Jabba's not a beast!

 ;D :D :-*

Wonderful, thanks Jeff. Really wasn't looking forward to picking these up on the secondary market. I didn't grab as many as I'd have liked for now. Hopefully, EE keeps these in stock for a while and I may pick up some more down the road.

$140 is steep, but I'll bite. Mando & Grogu make the most sense as a pack-in but man, I wouldn't hesitate to pick it up if we got Amy Sedaris in action figure form as a pack-in.

Man... I have LOVED this show so far. Keeping it short for now but I feel like this is the Star Wars series I've been waiting for 22 years+ (since Lucas first said he wanted to make a Sopranos-like show). I've loved the 'slower' pacing, and the fact that it took until episode 7 for us to even seen a Stormtrooper.

And yeah, I was very excited by Yularen. The wife was confused by why I was randomly so excited by some old white dude, but she knows who I am by now, and she has loved the show so far too. I am very excited to see where this goes over the next 5 episodes + next season.

I also wouldn’t mind seeing a Tantive IV Escape Pod, though it feel like that might be a bit on the large side.
