Hey guys, at the suggestion of Chewie, I wanted to share my version of Sheltae Retrac. She came together really easily, and I'm extremely satisfied with the final results.
Let me know what you think! SCROLL DOWN to see larger images

Hey she looks great. What's the recipe on this one? Do we detect the Annika bust line on this one??
-
That is amazing. If I did not know any better, I would think that a prototype for an upcoming figure. Great job, and keep up the fantastic work!
-
mister_palpatine - thanks so much for the compliment. That's about as nice a thing as anyone could say.
BrentS - here's the recipe Starting from the top down:
ROTS - Capt. Antilles head comm unit, trimmed the front prong
POTF - Ceremony Leia head, darkened eyes, eyeliner, lips... also, I thought it added alot, and I'm not sure you can tell by the pics, but I sliced behind her ears, glued in the thinnest piece of plastic behind, and then trimmed off the excess. This caused her ears to stick out a bit, much like the actress who portrayed the character. If someone could post a pic of her, it'd be much appreciated.
ROTS - Palpatine robe and collar carved out
ROTS - Aalya Secura upper torso
ROTS - Padme arms
ROTS - Mon Mothma mid-torso skirt dremmeled down
POTF - Skirt sliced up the back and glued smaller
And that's it. As pleased as I am with the results, I'm dying to try it again and smooth out any little mess-ups.
Thanks again for looking!

Wow given all these parts I'm surprised it "came together so easily" Very well done!!
-
nice custom of an actual character we saw in the movie
thanks for sharing
-
This is such a great job that it pains me to see you using that awful POTF2 Leia head. The craftsmanship here is stellar, but a better head choice would have made this flawless. I would recommend maybe AOTC Pilot Padme or Lars homestead Padme or even ROTS Padme.
Oh, and post bigger pictures to show the exquisite detail.
Amazing job.
-
I really like the color of all the red Xs. :-\
-
What a great figure, thanks for sharing it here. Everythign about it to me is just about perfect, awesome attention to detail and I think the Leia head works fine, I didn't even realize it was a Leia. I would love to see this figure made.
:)

i'm with Phruby ???

And that's it. As pleased as I am with the results, I'm dying to try it again and smooth out any little mess-ups.
Thanks again for looking!
MESS UPS?? This thing is perfect. I too think this could've been an upcoming figure. Its an elegant design. Excellent job, don't change anything.
-
Thanks everyone for the compliments. I'm really glad that the figure has gotten this response. Hopefully someone else can be inspired, as the parts were pretty easy to come by.
Quazar - sorry I can't post larger photos, as I'm not hosting them myself, but you can click on each to open up the full size. Also, I think that the Padme pilot head is my fav star wars female, and would look very good on this figure.
However, the particular head I used is from the Ceremony Leia, which isn't that bad, as it came late in the POTF2 line - right before Episode 1. However, the way I repainted it, bored out to fit on Aayla's neckpost, and changed the ears, I think it was actually about the best choice. Also, the face is a little fuller than that of the Padmes, reflecting the actual actresses.
Thanks for the suggestion though, I might try the Pilot Padme head for an alternate head? ;)
-
For what its worth, you may be able to get an account on Photobucket to host free images. They accept larger file sizes. That is site I use and haven't had any real limitations yet.
I too would love to see larger photos of this figure!!
-
Thanks BrentS, I signed up for hosting with photobucket. Not sure if this is what you had in mind or not. The camera I have doesn't enable me to get too much better quality than this, but hopefully maybe this will help out Phru and Jedipurge.

Given all the amazing work you did on the head with the make-up and the ears, you really made it work and the bigger pictures help bring out the detail.
This is a great figure. I actually posted a thread about her many months ago (can't find it) asking who this gal was and talking about a hypothetical custom.
You did a fan-tastic job! An incredible fusion of disparate parts. Craftsmanship is top notch.
Great, great work. (I do think pilot padme is better looking, too, but your work on this is just terrific.)

Alderaanian babe (http://www.jedidefender.com/yabbse/index.php?topic=9419) :)
If someone could post a pic of her, it'd be much appreciated.
The only image I know of was that Hyperspace Photo (http://www.starwars.com/hyperspace/member/bth/2004/01/bth20040108.html) photo a while back...

There's plenty more over at The Padawan's Guide (http://www.padawansguide.com/sheltay.shtml)! That site's my favorite source for SW costume reference pictures -- I go there all the time.
Johnboy, thanks for the bigger pictures! Once again, very nice work on Sheltay, and it's always wonderful to see well-done female customs. Inspired by your efforts, I'm going to give this gal a try myself -- just started her tonight, in fact.

In all her glory....

Thanks Quazar for the pic. That's the one that I based her face off of, and I also finally found the full length pic that I used to base my figure off of.
Findswoman - I'm eager to see what you can come up with, are you planning any softgoods for this endeavor? :)

WOW much better then a bunch of red X's ;D. seriously this a really great custom A+ the attention to detail is amazing, even the ears. look forward to seeing more of your work.
-
FINALLY! I've been waiting for somebody to make this spacey BABE! AWESOME job on this one. figures in white robes or gowns can be really difficult and yours came out great. When I got the E3 visual dictionary I was amazed to see how hot this chick was and you have captured her essence well. Keep up the good work. A+
-
Very nice Job.
That looks like a Production Piece.
Keep up the great work!
-
ive been waiting for some one to make this smoking hottie for a while now....well done...it looks lk a hasbro figure not a custome....seamless......looking forward to seeing more of your work
-
Very nice work johnboy. She's great. I may have to pursue this figure.
Thanks for the inspiration.

Here's my version of an Ubese bounty hunter, Bambouzshh Eld. He started from a small clan, becoming notorious, on small outer rim planets, for his thoroughness, and efficiency in completing his contracts. By building up business, he finally made it to the scrubs of Coruscant, where he adopted the more common clothing of the universe, as well as learning the Basic language.
Let me know what you think!

-
I like it quite a bit, pretty original. Got a recipe for it? It looks very cool, and I like the Boush helmet a lot on this custom... looks like a lot of different figure parts went into it.
:)
-
Thats a sharp looking figure. Great blend of parts frm many SW lines. I really like the chest piece and the boots with that armort plating on them. ALso the layered outfit looks cool especially that pic from the back. The weapon reminds me of another more familiar bounty hunter who infiltrated Jabba's palace. Always cool to tie in accessories like that!
Nice work
-
Once again, your parts selection is excellent. I like the layered flow to his robes, that's something I don't see often. Is his helmet removable? Does it have a "working" visor?
-
Dressed to kill! Bambouzshh Eld looks pretty slick. Great use of clothing, like the others said, and I just love that pic of him holding the gun up! I'd also like to see a recipe very much.
-
Nice looking Bounty Hunter. I still expect to see Leia's head under that helmet though. My favorite part is the layering of the clothes.
-
Helmet looks 1/2 Firespeeder Pilot, 1/2 Boussh... is that right?
Brilliant!
-
Thanks for the compliments guys.
Here's the recipe:
Saga Boushh top helmet dremeled out a bit, to attach to the Saga Firespeeder pilot's head and neck post (good catch In Rem) ;)
OTC - Lobot torso
GI Joe - Hannibal jacket
Saga - Barada arms
OTC - Lando Skiff guard hoster, with skirt cut off
Saga 1 - Ki-Adi Mundi Skirt, trimmed out middle
Saga 1- Djas Puhr legs
Saga 1- Jedi library droids, cannibalized for leg armour, and chest piece.
Thanks again!
-
That is a great Helmet Mod! I hope you don't mind if I borrow it.
Keep up the Good Work!
-
I live the use of the double coat look to him. Very gunslinger like.
-
Here's a nice little change to make to the new VSTC X-Wing luke. I added the collar from the Luke Hoth Snowspeeder figure and cup from Target a couple years back, and Bren Derlin boots. I added a dirty/black wash over his flightsuit, and battered up his helmet. To finish off the look, I strategically added small amounts of white paint to look like snow that had gotten caught up on his suit, especially on the left corner of his helmet.
Unfortunately, I forgot to add a bootstrap bandolier when I took the photos, but have since added one from a Bossk figure.
Here's the pics, it turned out especially nice, for the ease of few added parts, and a better paint job.

And finally a little wallpaper I came up with:
-
Pretty sweet.
-
Wow that is excellent. I never would have thought to do that. The attention to detail is amazing. I may have to try this one myself.
Did you just cut the boots off and glue them on or is there a pin of some kind in the leg to hold it together?
Excellent work.
-
I really like what you have done, and would buy this if it was in stores.
-
I would too, its certainly cooler looking that the ONLY one Hasbro gave us 10 years ago.
-
Very cool mod. I hope Hasbro gives us an Updated version soon. If not, I may have to steel this Recipe from you.
Keep up the Great Work!
-
What a great idea. I think the touch of the snow to the custom is terrific. Its amazing how subtle changes (or radical in the case of the boots) can be so effective in creating amazing customs!
-

Thanks everyone for the compliments. I was really surprised by how much it changed the look of the figure just by adding the boots and collar. By adding a dirty wash to the figure also made a huge difference - though it doesn't show up in the pics as well.
Ennis - to answer your question, I cut the X-wing boots off. Since they were so close to the ball joint, it was a bit tricky to get the Derlin boots to fit. I dremeled out a small groove in the top of the Hoth boots to allow for the slightest bit of the actual ball joint to slide through.
Unfortunately, my means of attaching them was with superglue and his right knee joint swivels, but doesn't bend. The left leg works fine, but I move it with care, so not top rip it apart. :P
-
Hey, looks good! I like the addition of the white to the jumpsuit, and the collar and boots looks really good.
My only suggestion is maybe to alter the wide leg stance of Luke...it can be easily fixed by boiling the legs in water for about 2 minutes, then rubberbanding them together for a neutral stance, then placing them in a freezer for about 5 minutes. Works like a charm, I just did it yesterday.
-
I've been busy the past couple of months, and here's the first two figures of a few new ones I've made.
The first is Lando in another outfit, in which he's "dressed to impress." :P
Of course, he needed a cumberbund to dress it up a little.
Also, to make a deal, and to impress his get-together, Lando invested in an old-republic relic, a female servant droid to serve drinks at his little party.
Let me know what you think of them!

Here's my version of padme when Anakin confesses how tortured he has become.
It turned out pretty well, but the pictures are a bit fuzzy.
To further express his feelings, Annie does the "jedi slide" singing "I wish I could wish"
Which, apparently doesn't impress....

Here's a few repaints that turned out quite well:
Snooklawa the wookiee He's big, he's bad, and..... old This guy turned out pretty well I think. I tried to make him a 'silverback.'

Next up is a fairly easy swap of the ROTS pilot Kenobi, and the battlepack head, hands and boots, along with ROTS Agen Kolar legs:
A beat-up protocol droid, C2-KO is a multi-layered repaint of the OTC/HOF rerelease:

Finally, Grievous's guards, who were somewhat patterned off those in the ROTS sketchbook. My brother did the one on the left with the blastshots marks, and I did the slashed one.

Here's a smuggler based off of a GIJOE Scarlett. I added the cloth skirt because I wanted to keep the hip joint look of GI Joes apart from the Star Wars look, and Adi Gallia arms. Let me know what you think. 8)

-
Nice work JB, the wookie is fantastic.
Great parts use on the others and nice paint on the guards, but the wookie
looks alive.
-
Here's a nice custom using the POTC Elizabeth Swann figure as a base. I used VOTC Han Solo arms, endor trooper helmet, belt and vest - cut down, repainted Aayla Secura face and Eeth Koth hair. 8)

Another great figure JB. I really like this one. If i didnt think they would make her as soon as i finihed, i would have made her a long time ago.
Great use of homestead padme.
-
Very cool, i like the silver plating, what did you use? Ayya Vida and what else?
-
Dang, you have been busy. She's great.
-
The Clone Wars have stressed the Jedi Order, spreading their lines thin across the galaxy. Unfortunately, Padawan learners are often forced into service, apart from their masters, to lead battalions of clonetrropers.
Though strong in the force, Freezia has been equipped with clone armour, and a Republic rebreather for the toxic atmosphere of the Swaddle forests on the moon of Norcron.
Here's the pics:

-
Very cool, i like the silver plating, what did you use? Ayya Vida and what else?
Thanks Glassman...
You're correct on the Ayya Vida body. Though I cut down her hip joint, to make her not be quite so wide-stanced. Because of this, the back, or rather her backend looked a a little wierd, so I "installed" an Aayla Secura backend. ::)
For the silver plating I used aluminum tape, cut in very small and specific pieces to fit over the contour of the body, and to look like panels. I finally used silver paint to give it a bit of a wash, and to fill in at the joints.
Thanks again!
EDIT: One thing i forgot to mention was the use of Aayla Secura feet. Easy to put in, just boil and pop, and very carefully drill some holes in Ayy Vida's ankles. For her head, it's an Adi Gallia head, with face kinda shaved off, and her head dress trimmed off.
-
Another great figure JB. I really like this one. If i didnt think they would make her as soon as i finihed, i would have made her a long time ago.
Great use of homestead padme.
Actually need to correct you on this one - it's not the homestead Padme.
Her head is the ROTS version, with the headband added in, and repainted her makeup, eyeshadow, etc.
The upper torso is from a POTJ slave Leia.
The skirt is a ROTS emperor skirt thing, dremeled and shaped WAY down, and then wrapped in 3 different layers of lace, which I then sealed with super glue to get the black and white pattern of her dress.
Finally, the torso cover is the knee pad from some wrestling figure I ran across, and a piece of ribbon for the, er, ribbon coming down from her neck.
-
Here's one of my fav customs tha I've made as of late. i was inspired by the ROTS Sketchbook to make a more rugged looking Jedi. Hope ya'll like him.

Here's a little something I came up with after seeing sketches for Alderann Civilians from the ROTS sketchbook. I thought, what would Leia have looked like growing up, before her senatorial start? Here's what I came up with:

-
Man you have got some outstanding work in these last couple of threads. You really need to post recipes for these. Excellent job on all of them.
-
Nice customs. Now put them in one thread and we'll be in business! :P
-
Outstanding! Leia was quite a cutie pie!
-
Thats one cool looking PLo Koon. I lovw the outer garment. Great work
-
Superb figure. I love that you create female characters-and very well too.
This is my fave of the lot and you have the nack with the ladies. I wish that Hasbro would revisit this scene and create this figure!
-
Thats one of the coolest figures that I've ever seen. I MUST try this female style droid. I commend you for this figure! Awesome work. One of the most creative recipes I've ever seen.
-
Another great female figure. One thing that I love about your work is that you cross into all genres of Star Wars lore. OT, PT, EU, Fan fic, you do it all. I like the skirt piece on this figure. Very unique looking Jedi. Top shelf work.
-
Just great stuff man! That wookie is just awesome! I love the teal with the dark colored wookie. Very creative and I can totally imagine him on the battlefield.
-
Beautiful custom... still can't believe Hasbro hasn't made this yet.
Very well done and creative, and good job catching her very womanly figure.
:)
-
I looked at all your latest customs and I agree with everyone else: outstanding work ;D!
But it would be easier to post them all in one thread and update that one from time to time :).
I can't quite place all the different parts you used for your female customs. Something tells me it's not all SW fodder right? I would love to see some recipes on those.
-
Wow, VERY imaginative job. Excellent use of parts and a wonderful paint job.
GI Joe figures often have great parts, but I don't like the awkward-looking pelvises (pelvi?) and the arms with their large and visible joints.
You found a way to combine the best of both worlds, great JOE legs and, ahem, torso while hiding the pelvis and eliminating the bad arms!
Great job!
-
very creative work
the scarlet fig looks good with that twilek head
thanks for sharing
-
cool choice of parts,
the firefighter works very well here and the cloak is simply outstanding !
-
this is a really successful custom
i like it a lot
-
awesome !
didn't you guys tried something like that some time ago ?
-
it's the same as in gijoe, we need more female troopers, i bet she'll look good too with the new endor rebel troopers from the TSC line
-
WOW! AWESOME job!!
I love it, excellent work. I have one slight constructive criticism - I would try to get a really glossy black paint to paint her top with, to give it that shiny, leathery look.
Otherwise, this is aces!!
-
Great figure! Wow, you're crankin' em out! This is excellent! Very original design, nicely done!
I would love to see a "close up" of the head, to appreciate all the painting and sculpting you did.
But I love it. I have an extra Elizabeth that I've been trying to figure out what to do with. This is an inspiration.
-
LOVE the droid! wish I had one! I can definitely see Lando owning this sleek, shiny, sexy model.
And I dig lando a lot too, but the cape doesn't quite fit. The rest of the outfit is great, though, very creative stuff!!
-
Very cool, i like the silver plating, what did you use? Ayya Vida and what else?
Thanks Glassman...
You're correct on the Ayya Vida body. Though I cut down her hip joint, to make her not be quite so wide-stanced. Because of this, the back, or rather her backend looked a a little wierd, so I "installed" an Aayla Secura backend. ::)

Thanks again!
Wow, that is a very interesting take on a Betty Bot! I never would have thought to take an actual female figure(s) and then silver plate them. It gives it the smooth (and purposly sexy) curves the Betty Bots had. The idea of cutting small pieces of aluminum tape is very ingenious also. The panel look was VERY good.
Could we get some clear pictures of JUST the droid?
Oh, and Lando looks very spiffy himself. I do agree about the cape though...
Spyke
-
Very cute liea JB, Great work.
What parts did you use for her?
-
Nice job you really captured the likeness from those concept scetches. What did you use for the Blue Visor?
Nice Job.
-
Very nice Fembot!
What figure line is Ayya Vida from I'm not familiar with that character.
Great Job.
-
Nice the Rebels can always use a few good hotties. Great use of the POTC line.
Nice Work
-
Nice Solid interpretation of a key Padme Outfit. I'm still banking Hasbro is going to make this on. I just hope it comes out as nice as yours.
Great Job!

This is my favorite of your recent works. Great choice on the Fire Speeder Base. What did you use for the Tunic?
Good Work, Keep em coming
-
Another nice piece. I hope to see more of your work posted here in the future.
Thanks for let us see all your great stuff.
-
Love the Original Wookie Warrior and Battle Damaged Manga. Good Stuff.
Keep up the great work.
-
Thanks for the compliments guys. These were quite nice to take a break from a true custom, and just paint and "battle damage" the figures that were pretty good sculpts to begin with.
-
Outrider - thanks for the kind feedback in all the threads, it's much appreciated.
I do like to make my figures span across the Star Wars time periods as much as I can - and of course, it always helps to be inspired by so many other great customs on the boards.
-
Thanks ;)
Fritz - here's a quick rundown of the parts used:
ROTS - Plo Koon head x2, neck post, hands
ROTS - Pilot Obi Wan Arms
Saga - Imperial dignitary collar
Saga - Capt. Typho tunic/skirt
And of course the legs and torso of the firespeeder pilot.
As for the hood and cloak, it's a ROTS Emperor hood, cut open on the front (the little clasp), and the 500th Vader cape. To make the hood fit right, I had to cut down the extra head a bit in the back, but the hood actually is sculpted as to look like it would be fitting over his natural contours. Since it's a ball joint head, it makes for an easy swap to put the hood/robe on.

Thanks for the compliments. I too, think that this figure will eventually be made, but with the knee pad -that forms the bodice of her dress, it was too tempting to not work on it now.
Quazar - I like your suggestion ---- I may paint it a gloss black, or maybe even just use a clear gloss to give it a more leathery look. Thanks!
-
Hey guys, here a quick parts list that hopefully will cover any questions.
ROTS - Luminara Unduli torso sanded down quite a bit
POTF - Ceremony Leia arms, hair bun
Saga - Leia in Boussh head (which is awfully small, and kinda childlike)
POTC - Rabe' legs just boiled and popped out, and doesn't really affect the original figure, other than making a bit more prone to tipping over.
The visor is simply a carefully cut piece from a notebook insert. It's very thin plastic which makes it easier to work with.
And finally the belt is just a random belt piece from some roman/greek figure
-
Thanks everyone, I'm pretty happy with how it turend out, though the aluminum tape was extremely tedious work to cut mirrored pieces for each side of the figure.
Fritz - Ayy Vida was in the first Saga line, and is seen as Lando's pal in these pics.
Here's a carded pic:

Spyke -I'll work on getting some better pics of the droid itself

Thanks for the kind words - I am a bit excited about the potential for the new endor troops, and I'll try to get better close-ups of the figure. ;D
-
Wonderful and yes you've been busy. This was an excellent idea for a female Endor rebel. Great recipe!
:)
-
She's really pretty and a genius use of parts. Great to see so much variety from you, that makes you really unique and a really fun customizer to watch.
Would you consider a consolidated thread for your customs? It makes it a bit easier for most of us to find your work. :)
:)
-
Could you post these sketches. I've never seen them and since this is such an amazing custom, I'd love to see your inspiraration.
-
I am impressed.
-
Miss Swan does make good fodder. I like the hair going thru the back of the hat. Nice figure.
-
Yah, know that is exactly the way I would invision her. I like the helmet ipod thing. I'm glad you didn't make her look slutty.
-
Very nice figure there. I would have thought that you used that tall ugly Lucas daughter figure for the body and arms but I like the alternative you used instead. I actually have those parts and may have to try this one someday.
-
Great figure on that great figure! ;)

hey guys, just a little update from your friendly neighborhood overworked staffer...
I talked to Johnboy before Comic-Con but obviously I was a bit pre-occupied during the show. I'd mentioned just merging his threads together because, at the time, there were a ton of them pushing the page down. :) He's ok with me merging them together though so his body of work that was on Page 2 here is now all together...
Johnboy this is your thread though so if you want to update it go for it man. I updated the thread title, and you have that ability too (You can always change it to reflect a new update... Like I said that's what some of our members do like CHEWIE and Darth Delicious, and it works out pretty well for them IMO).
Your stuff's great of course too... It's a lot for me to look through right now. I've always got something on my plate but I do keep an eye on the customs here and admire a lot of stuff if I'm not always as vocal as I want to be of late.
Great work man, and glad you're aboard.

hmmm, I you sure that the robe thing is hte impy dignitary. I just checked and it doesn't look like it.

Smartypants - I guess you're referring to my Plo Koon custom. The top shoulder peice is indeed from 1 of 2 Imperial dignitaries released in the old saga line
I got this particular collar from this figure:

As opposed to the other version:

got ya. Thanks, Im definately going to do some customs this way.

Here's the first of my latest two figures.
He's a Sakiyan Jedi named Toll Drank.
Parts used:
Saga - Djas Puhr head, hands
VTSC - sandpeople legs
Saga - Barada belt
ROTS - Agen Kolar robe cut down
Some dollar tree figure for the arms and torso
POTC - Elizabeth Swann bandolier
Let me know what you think:

Here's a Tusken Chieftan I made last night.
I think he turned out pretty well, considering it was based on a cheap dollar tree or Big Lots skull-guy figure. I wanted him to be a head honcho of some of the Tusken Raiders. He had been captured and banished by Gardulla the Hutt, however with time, eventually broke away from his chains to come back and torment the illegal shipping of the Hutts through the Tatooine wastelands.
Parts used:
VTSC - sand person head, hands
Dollar tree body, arms
POTF - hoth trooper feet
Saga - mastiff chains
and various other parts, bandoliers from some Kermit the Frog, cartridges, and kerchief...

Thanks for looking! 8)

Toll Drank: That is incredible. I've always wanted to see a Sakiyan other then Djas Puhr again and again. That dollar tree figure seems to be an excellent platform for muscualar/barechested customs. Great use of the parts from POTC! I keep wanting to pick some up to use, but wasn't sure what parts exactly would be usable, so now I know! The highlighting job looks good and is a lot more dynamic than plain old black Djas Puhr. Good work!
Tusken Chieftan: WOW. This is one of the best poses I have seen a sand person/Tusken Raider in. It looks like a great paint job, made to look that much more indimidating with the torn fabric of the arms and weathering you've done. What dollar tree figure did you use for this? Also, how did you ever think of looking to The Muppets for accessories?!
-
That cheiftain is one of the coolest ciustoms I've ever seen. I love the pose and the frayed fabric. Almost looks like an unleashed figure. Incredible work!
-
Thanks GGPiKE.
I wish I had taken a work-in-progress pic of the parts I used. The dollar tree figure, was all black, with a glow-in-the-dark skull for a head. I'll look for a picture at some point, but essentially a Skeletor looking guy. I like that he had armour, and I used a gold leaf paint, then weathered it, bit I think it reflects the look of the female tuskens from the first saga line.
As for muppets, I'm always looking for figures and potential parts at my local goodwill. It was from a colonial-looking kermit - I'm sure from one of the movies. But I can get alot of stuff at goodwill for pretty cheap. For instance, a POTF complete, loose Slave 1 the other day for $0.25. Not too shabby. ;D
Thanks again for the compliments. 8)

I agree about that torn fabric making this guy look more intimidating! That is an amazing Tuskan! Would be cool to see a diarama of this figure and his underlings plundering!
-
Here's a custom I made a little bit back, but wanted to share it.
I based it off of an old Joe Johnston sketch from the ESB Sketch book.
Here's a scan of the main influence:

And the actual figure:

-
Nice, I like that. The Japanese influence is quite apparent, in fact, that helmet basically looks like TMNT's Shredder.
-
That is a great concept figure! I never knew about the ESB sketch book.
Did you add a cannister to your figure that is like the one on the belt of the sketched trooper?
-
Whoa. Plain awesome 8)! I have the Art of ESB book. It's in there as well, along with other cool concept drawings.
What parts and materals did you use to make this one?
-
I totally missed the Tusken. He just kicks major @%&. I love everything about him. Of course, I kind of have a thing about tuskens myself. I just wish you had a camera that could get you better photos. Your customs deserve better images :) :) :)
-
Thanks for the comments guys. he does kinda look like Shredder. ;)
Straxus - I did put a cannister on the back, I think it was from a 21st Century Soldier, I think. I can try to take some new pics.
T65 - the parts for this one were a real mish-mash. The torso and upper arms are from AT-AT pilot with Veers chest piece, lower arms ROTS Bail Organa, legs are from ROTS Plo Koon - sans boots, then added dollar tree boots, knees (I also cut the feet off a Gi Joe to give him the "stacked" stilt shoes). The head was built around a #41 clone head, using parts from Veers, Cpt. Typho, and CC Pilot helmets.
BrentS - I defintely want to get a new camera, but I'm trying to taske some better pics with the one I have until I get can afford it. ;) In case you missed it - I also posted a Sakiyan Jedi on pg. 7- -- I made the other day about the same time as the Tusken Raider.
I'm off and on working on a new helmet for an new version of the concept trooper, but want to use a ROTS Neimoidian Warrior for the body. I don't suppose anyone has one they'd sell for cheap? ;D

On of my KMarts still has on on the shelf - $7 if you are interested :)

You can always count on Kmart, huh? :) I was thinking something a little cheaper, I wish the KMart closest to me still had some of the Clone Wars figures. I bought a couple for cheap a while back - then they disappeared. ::)
-
Curious if you chose the canister that was part of the accessories of the "Pvt. Hugo Wolff" from the C21 Battle of the Bulge. I kept looking at the canister that came with that figure thinking how cool it would be on a clone, and after seeing your figure and reference sketch it was based on, I realized it would have been the perfect size as well!
-
Straxus - Good call.
It did come from figure - though I think it was from an earlier release (as I bought it a good while back, but it's still the same figure, just popped the cannister right off the backpack). It worked well, I added some white paint on his gear (I also used the ammo pouches on this figure), and it definately makes a good look to have some "snow" stuck around on it. I need to try to get some better pics of the figure.
-
Here's a couple of improvements I made a little bit back.
I used the great base of the VSTC Greedo - though I've always been a little disappointed in the effort put forth on the eyes of the figures - -- they just don't look very lively.
So anyway, I took some very small rhinestones from a local Michael's craft store, then hollowed out the eye sockets, along with some added space for the rhinestones, and carefully cut the circles to a smaller dimension to fit them in. I added a small bit of aluminum tape backing, but the head works just as it did before - only with the look of the reflective eyes that the Rodians have in the movies.
Hope you like them.

Great tip. I might have to try that myself. Did you put them in from the inside?
roron corobb
-
Woah...at first I thought your idea was kinda lame, but looking at the pics, it actually looks cool! It really does make Greedo look more "life-like". :)
-
Corobb - I forgot to mention that, yes I did put them in from the inside, so that they didn't looked "tacked on."
Roton - I'll post a pic of the movie Greedo -- - I think that it gives a bit of the look of the eyes in the movie.
-
Subtle, but totally genus.
