Customizing Tips and Tricks / Re: Removing Factory Paint?

Crazy because I never even saw a 501st clone in a store, but hundreds of #41 (plain) clones.

Some WIP shots

I like it, but for some reason it seems more feminine to me.  Maybe it's the collar and robes, and I'm used to seeing Rodians in pants....

Though he seems a bit too tall, I really like him that way.  The first time I saw him was in the Republic Commando game, and he was HUGE, just like yours.  I think I have a reason to buy a Tarfful now.

Lookin' good CC.

I also like Bacara, he looks like he's straight from the movie.  Neyo's accessories and paintjob are good -- is that insignia on his torso one of those stickers?  Mon Cal guy looks like a good Mon Cal Jedi should.

I have to echo Chewie's comments about the Imperial.  The shoulders look a bit dislocated.  Burrowing them deeper into the torso would improve the look, I think.  Kudos for the attempt, as it's hard to work up the courage to boil, pop, slice, and dice sometimes.

Nice work Finds.  Much nicer area of Oakland than the one I got lost in about 15 years ago.  In fact, I didn't know Oakland had a nice area until now.   :P  I know if I'd had the PPDK as my sidekick back then I'd have shown no fear.

Here are the rest of the Glowbug Boss pics.

Thanks my peeps.  You're too kind.

CC1 - You're always your own worst critic.  Your Boss looks good, more battle-worn, which I like.  Mine does have foot articulation, when I get the pics resized, uploaded, etc., I'll post 'em.

Findswoman - Yes, I am the Ruprecht formerly known as Bjardkerr, or TRFKAB.  I was paralyzingly idle one day and I started thinking of things that make me laugh, and Ruprecht Jamieson from the film Dirty Rotten Scoundrels got me rolling.....sitting there.....all by myself.  Now that the foray into my neurotic and derelict mind is over, a "Deece" is slang for his DC-17m rifle.

Chewie - I haven't had breakfast or lunch, and your name brings visions of warm, soft, chewie brownies to mind.  Oh the humanity!

Here's my first Boss, with modified "Deece."  He's been done for about a month, but instead of posting pics and such I've spent what little customizing time I have trying to learn molding, casting, and sculpting.  More pics to come, I'm tired.

Customizing Tips and Tricks / Re: General Casting Questions
« on: June 15, 2006, 11:11 AM »
Yes, let it sit for a minute or three, depending on what you're casting with.

After I pour it in each half, I take a minute to poke out the air bubbles with a toothpick.  Normally after that, it takes a minute or two more before it's viscous enough to put them together with minimum leakage.  Sometimes I nudge the mold a bit, and when the resin appears "Jello-y," it's time to put the halves together.

At first, no.  True to my character (or lack thereof?) I was impatient.

I then began letting it go 24 + hours until de-mold, and they'd still break.

I'll try a bigger sprue hole as well, thanks for the quick responses.

Glass, I use the same Smooth-Sil 920.  Maybe de-molding isn't working because the donor piece is too hard a plastic?  I used Polytek Easy Flo 60 for a removable Scorch, and that is what I'm having problems with.

I'll definitely be doing the 2-part process in the future, though.
