Title: 2023 TVC Troop Builder - Cantina Band 7-Pack
Post by: P-Siddy on August 25, 2022, 09:04 PM
I'd like to know when Hasbro's going to announce Figrin D'an's counterpart, Nalan Cheel in the TVC line.  Would be nice to get the full band together.

It's definitely happening.  I bought two extras and gave them the old POTF2 accessories for now.

I still feel like the Modal Nodes would be a good army 'band building 4-pack'. Just swap out the three instruments Figrin came with and pack in the other four (include a stool for the sitting instrument) and you are all set.

It would, but you know Hasbro will make it a deluxe figure.

7 band members means buying two 4-packs and being stuck with one extra.

Hasbro will definitely do it this way.

Or, you buy 3x Figrin D'ans and 1x 4-pack?

I was counting on this when I only picked up 2 singles along with the one packed in the case. Hope we do get the 4-figure builder packs and not too far out in the future.

Same. I figured since he came with 3 instruments, that it it made sense they'd release the others in some kind of multi-pack.

I vaguely recall that during the Figrin reveal on Hasbro's livestream, Patrick mentioned something about the rest of the band in TVC, and that they have something special in mind that he couldn't spoil yet.

Well when you say it like that it sounds obvious. 🤦‍♂️

$250 Cantina playset with a small stage for the band.  You heard it here first.

Rob beat me to the punch...

===== my thoughts before clicked post=======
I recall that. And the more I think about it, the more I believe we will not be getting a builder pack but some kind of display that includes the remaining 4. Wasn’t there even a Modal Nodes convention exclusive years ago with music? I’m down with something like that. While I’m at it, I hope it’s one piece of a modular Cantina playset.  :)

A builder pack would be nice, though, as a less expensive way than carded singles to get figures for customs.

It’d just be nice to get some confirmation so we can plan accordingly.  Black series already has the whole band.

I'm afraid you might be right.  It should really be a $75 playset plus figures, but they'll add in all sorts of other crap (small tables and drink glasses) that will crank up the price.

Totally.  If the scale and detail are there… it had a legit bar… a few booths so Han can shoot Greedo first… and fits on a shelf the way they did with Jabba’s palace, I’d be down.

And I’d be fine with the cantina playset, which might be the scenario we get the others band members.
But we’d definitely need Wuher, too. (Unless they make it a Mandalorian version).

I know some people have bought 7 Figrins and just used the old Walmart “stiff “ versions’ instruments but they’re still missing the “drum set” and seat.

I feel like it will definitely be a 4pack, but plussed up with expanding packaging that becomes a stage, like the Emperor's Throne Room from last year. And it will be a $100 Pulse exclusive.

I'd love to see a Cantina in the spirit of the Boba Fett Throne Room, though.

(And for the record, Jayson is strongly implying the next playset will be an Endor Bunker.)

I don't know for certain if a Cantina Band pack would be exclusive to Pulse.  But it's definitely enough of a niche item that it would probably be a Fan Channel exclusive at the very least.  An alcove with sound effects would be my preferred way to see this presented.

I agree about a Cantina playset.  It seems like such an obvious choice for the way this playset line has been moving forward.  And if Hasbro makes a Cantina band alcove that could integrate wtih a Cantina playset?  I'd be all in favor of that!

It was interesting to see that leak from Jayson.  When the new Endor Han Solo got announced I was a little surprised since Hasbro had only reissued the VC062 figure in 2021.  And that figure, compared to the Vintage Collection as it stands right now, is just pure trash.  It never should have been reissued.  To have Hasbro take on Han Solo from Endor again and attempt to right that wrong?  It was stunning news to me.  With this leak about a possible Endor bunker playset, Han Solo is the perfect character to include in that set.  So it begins to make a bit more sense that Hasbro would do this at this time.

You can always use one to upgrade your POTF2 Barquin D'an from the Max Rebo band. ;)

I think there was a Figrin/Bith musician cameo in TBOBF too...

But you've had a full cantina band almost a year ahead of the set (I'm in the same boat).

I'll scatter them around as random aliens, or give some to my son so he can have a cantina setup.

Welp, glad I only did 3 Figrin D’an figures and I left one carded. I can easily repurpose the two extra loose figures.

It almost feels a little deceitful on Hasbro’s part that they didn’t announce this pack back when they first announced Figrin D’an. It feels like they knew people would but multiples of that figure and they they could get them again with this set since it includes the other instruments.

Do we know if one of the figures in this set would qualify as a straight up repack of the existing figrin d’an?  I’m assuming they’re all the exact same thing except the instruments and chair… and I’m just trying to figure out if I should try to sell all 7 of mine or keep one.

So, is this StarWars.com (https://www.starwars.com/databank/figrin-d-an-and-the-modal-nodes) entry the "accepted" line-up for The Modal Nodes?

Figrin D’an (Kloo Horn)
Doikk Na’ts (Dorenian Beshniquel aka fizzz)
Tedn Dahai (Fanfar)
Nalan Cheel (Bandfill)
Tech M’or (Ommni box)
Sun’il Ei’de (Drums)
Ickabel G’ont (Double Jocimer)

It feels like every source I find has a slightly different list of members/instruments that has changed over the years....  just trying to update my loose figure spreadsheet as accurately as I can.

And, now I'm wondering if giving us two Kloo Horns in this set was right?  Most EU stuff says the second Kloo Horn was Lirin Car'n but he was at the table with Myo and Muftak and not playing with the band.  The internet also tells me that the "double jocimer" is small and basically the same as the fanfar so that is probably the instrument they should have doubled up on?

That's same the line-up I used for my list too. I used the Wookiepedia (https://starwars.fandom.com/wiki/Figrin_D%27an_and_the_Modal_Nodes/Legends) as a starting point. I came to same conclusion... I wish they would have just thrown in an extra 8th instrument, especially since it is so small, and then let us decide how to display them.

Opened this set up today and while I'm happy to have it, I must say I'm disappointed that Hasbro didn't make alternate hands for some of the band members like they did for the Black Series version... especially for holding the bandfill, playing the ommni box, or drums.  Feels like Hasbro simply cut corners to appease fans.   ::)

Just got mine but haven't cracked it open.

That is disappointing to hear that there aren't different hands.  That seems like it would have been a really easy/cheap thing to do for what we paid for this.

I opened mine yesterday, as far as sets designed to sell you the same thing 7 times, I like this one.

I didn't really have a problem with the hands, but I don't look at these this closely once they're on the shelves I guess.

It's just the effort in my opinion.  They could have afforded to include a couple different hands for the different instruments like they did in 6" since it's already a boxset and included the extra cost in the price if they had to.  No one would know the difference.  I mean, they already had the tooling for 6" so all they had to do was scale the hands down to 4".
