Title: $1000 Shopping Spree
Post by: chris solo on December 13, 2003, 10:29 AM
Scenario:

You've just won $1000 US credit from ebay to spend on Star Wars products as you see fit (just pretend). You can get as many items that fit in your budget or just 1 big juicy one. Don't forget to keep shipping in mind. Its your chance to get those certain things you wouldn't normally think about spending money on or the opportunity to finish off part of your collection.

What would you get?

What particular items would you aim for if you had money to burn?

Tell us about it in this thread or if your on ebay browsing, post a link to that particular item(s) you would get.

Here's a good start. It was about $750 when I looked at it. Come to Papa.

I'd have to start with shelling out $100 or so, for a nice, mint, loose Yak Face, since he's been the single hole in my otherwise complete loose vintage collection for quite some time now...

With the remaining $900, I'd try to get 2 or 3 real nice MOMC 12-backs, to start that collection off...   8)

So, where does one get this $1,000 shopping spree Chris?!  Do tell!   :D

It was just an idea that popped into my head. I'm strapped for cash lately and was just browsing ebay thinking about what it would be like to have some guilt free money to spend.

If the money was free you'd spend it a bit differently.I wouldn't normally want to shell out $850 for one item, but easy come easy go.

That would have been a great deal. I would have bought it just to split it up and sell it when the next movie comes and prices go up.

If I'd had that kind of money, I probably would have bid on that auction.  Selling the items individually would surely have netted more than the final bid.  Shipping (and customs) would have been rather frightening).

If they go up!  ;)  Prices are good for stuff. Seems some items have dropped in price for now. Remember, its only worth what a person is willing to pay & according to Brent, he would have paid that!   ;D

Perchance to dream....
My collection is sadly lacking a vintage Yak Face and blue Snaggletooth, so I'd look for them.  I'd also do a search for Padmé Amidala and Harrison Ford to see what lovely little offerings I could find there.  It'd be nice to spend a thousand bucks on Star Wars toys without feeling I was over indulging....

Indeed but only for the entire lot.  Numerous items I could have used out of there and plenty of sellable items.

I don't know that much will go up in price vintage-wise with the next movie.  I do think modern items will recover a bit so POTF2 figures sell for $5-7 rather than $2-3 but that's about all.  I'm sure hoping all the slaggy Saga stuff I have (wanna Reek) will merit some trade value at that point. ;D

..... Shipping (and customs) would have been rather frightening).

The shipping and customs would be on the buyers hands. There would be a small paypal fee to the seller (if you went that way), but that would be neglegable.

That is over 100% profit. If you think on a scale of buying $2000 worth of product that will be $4000 in sales making a $2000 profit minimum. A great way to make money on a hobby. Use the profit to finish your "collection" and put your $2000 back in the bank.

I believe all Star Wars products will increase near the next movies release. New collectors will join the scene because this is "the end?" of an era. They will be thinking this is their last chance to get a piece of Star Wars history. Ebay is becomming more popular and gaining members daily. More competition on a limitted market at the perfect time (next movie) should generate a juicy profit.

Their is no better money to be made than doing something you enjoy. Somebody will be selling the product if it isn't you.
