They can do better, but with this new AT-AT, they just didn't.

Agreed - it's Michael Fright or nothing, as far as I'm concerned.

Ah, well that's fair, then. I think we all dream of finding the yokel with the treasure chest of toys who has no idea the worth of what he's got....

Looks like a decent Blue Snag - did the guy know what he had?

Vintage Kenner / Re: New To Vintage Collecting? Some Tips!
« on: December 9, 2009, 09:05 AM »
Everyone's collecting habits are their own, but I personally would never want to fill in gaps with anything modern, as they're just not the same, no matter whether they're made from the same or similar molds, etc. The appeal for collecting vintage to me is that they're the toys I had as a kid (or at least lusted after as a kid). Modern stuff is fun, too, but I don't look at them as interchangeable.

As far as the Dagobah playset, there are definitely sources out there for replacement foam, both specifically made for that set, as well as just general uses. Good luck!

I was just trying to redirect the conversation about picture sourcing in a lighthearted way.  Sorry for the confusion Carpet.

I'm all set. No worries.

The issue was Jesse changing his avatar. Not you. Why would you changing your own avatar save you from the "nightmares" induced by Jesse's avatar? That makes no sense. And as you so eloquently pointed out, you never had a Rebel Soldier avatar, so one would likely make the leap to judgment that I wasn't addressing you, but hey, I guess it's really unclear.

And as usual, your reading comprehension is dreadfully lacking, as yes, I'm aware of your screen name here having two letter J's, but when I wrote:

Yeah, JJ, why don't you go back to that cute little Rebel Soldier pic you used to use? He was so darling.

I was writing directly to Jesse James in reference to your suggesting that he change his avatar. I was suggesting he change back to his previous avatar, the darling little Rebel Soldier pic he used to much fame and attention. I can't imagine why I would suggest that you would change your own avatar when the subject was on Jesse's. Nothing more - it's as simple as that, sir.

No glowing eyes?

Amateur.

I'm certainly capable, but I was just trying to back you up, man.

Rebel Soldier?  Hmmn...I don't even remember that.  I thought I had a clone trooper prior to this one.  Do I have a stalker?  Better watch out for flying pizza Carpet.

JJ = Jesse James, darling.

115
Yeah yeah yeah, but are you going to change your avatar?  Seriously, I'm going to have nightmares tonight.   :o

Yeah, JJ, why don't you go back to that cute little Rebel Soldier pic you used to use? He was so darling.

I don't know what you guys are talking about - you can photoshop ANY picture bigger and get the same quality, every time. Here, look:

Looks the same to me.

With the large amount of SW collector sites out there now, how the hell can you tell who gets what scoop first, unless it's an exclusive to a particular site? Seems enormously petty to complain about this issue, considering it's not an exclusive set of photos.

I'd have to agree with Bill here - how can you derive any pleasure from the hobby if you have to carry it out in secret? I'm not going to say anyone's relationship is better or worse off in any regards, but what's the point of collecting if it's something you have to immediately hide away in fear of, as McMetal put it, "unrelentingly painful punishment" from your partner? I wouldn't go as far as JACK stated and "set ground rules" or anything (some of that sounded pretty misogynistic, man), but you should feel free to, within economical and fair boundaries, carry out your hobbies without threat or fear of retribution. That's just my 2¢, and of course we all have political and social dynamics in every relationship, but life is too short to have to concede the things we love the most, and that goes both ways.
