Site Feedback, Suggestions, and Help / Re: Account issues
« on: December 5, 2006, 09:01 AM »
Just wondering if it's just me or...

I have my account set to keep me logged in. Randomly this weekend, I had to re-log in. Since then, threads I've read before, start at post 1 every time I click on the thread. Is it me or is there some technical error somehwhere?

Same thing is going on with me too.

I think I'm going to save myself a lot of trouble and just get the troopers and battle droids, that is if I can find them all.  Also, since I missed it, I'm going to have to pick up the VOTC Boba Fett too.

2007 Saga Legends Shocktrooper (Battle Pack) X2
2007 Saga Legends Battle Droid 2-Pack (Tan)
2007 Saga Legends Battle Droid 2-Pack (Maroon)
2007 Saga Legends Battle Droid 2-Pack (Blaster Damage)
2007 Saga Legends Battle Droid 2-Pack (Lightsaber Damage)
2007 Saga Legends Clone Trooper (Clone Wars 03-50) X2
2007 Saga Legends Boba Fett (VOTC)
2007 Saga Legends Clone Trooper (new - SA 501st) X2
2007 Saga Legends Sandtrooper (Evolutions - White Pauldron) X2
2007 Saga Legends Clone Commander (Evolutions - Ep3 Grey)
2007 Saga Legends Clone Officers (EE Set - Red) X2
2007 Saga Legends Clone Officers (EE Set - Yellow) X2
2007 Saga Legends Clone Officers (EE Set - Blue) X2
2007 Saga Legends Clone Officers (EE Set - Green) X2

So not as bad as Jeff, but I'm in for at least 22 and I know that I'll be buying all of next year's Battle Packs as well.  Hopefully I will be able to cut back on the basic line quite a bit...

Yeah, they are at $21 right now, but I'm sure they won't last long.  I picked one up last night.  If I'm lucky enough to find another one at $15, then bonus for me, but I don't think they'll be around that long.

I just got off the phone with tfaw and the guy I spoke with said that in most cases it's just the box that has been damaged.  They will take out the saber, check it for damage and functionality, but the box is damaged and has been opened.

At this point I didn't feel too bad about it.  However he continued on.

He also mentioned that it could be a display item that has had minimal handling, and he was pretty vague on whether it could have been a 'return' that is being re-sold.

So all that being said, I'm not going to take the chance on this since there are no returns on these items.  If they could assure that it was only an item where the box was damaged and the lightsaber was mint inside and functioning appropriately, I'd buy one in a heartbeat.

Good luck if anyone decides to get one.

I just scored the Rogue Two Snowspeeder for $14.98! That's no typo! I couldn't believe it when I saw the endcap loaded with Snowspeeders marked with a huge red sign %50 off! Freaking sweet.

That is awesome!  I can only hope that the remaining ones in my store make it to the next markdown.  Merry Christmas to you!

Watto's Junk Yard / Re: Do You Still Use (Or Have) a VCR?

Yeah I still have one.  I use it primarily for my kids' tapes (Disney, etc) and the rare movie I still haven't repurchased on DVD.  It's probably 10+ years old now so I'm sure it will be dying soon.

I just got an e-mail from tfaw.com and they are advertising the Mace and Luke FX sabers in 'Nick & Dent' condition for $60 each.  They also have a shipping code of 'HOLIDAY2006' to get $10 off shipping.

I'm going to call them up later this morning to get clarification of what exactly constitutes a nick and dent lightsaber (is the box just beat up or is there something scratched/dented or otherwise on the saber itself).  Once I find out I'll pass along their description.

Yeah, I ran into these last night and picked up two Snowspeeders.  If you can find them, $21 is a good price for these.  There were only 4 at my Target.  There are approximately 20 Kit Fisto Starfighters on the shelves however, so I'm going to hold out until possibly the next round of price reductions.

Jocasta's Reading Room / Re: Darth Maul: Shadow Hunter
« on: November 28, 2006, 10:35 PM »
I realize the last post on this was some two years ago, but I just started on a Hard Cover book buying spree because my wife is setting up a library in our den.  I thought that I'd let the Star Wars novels take a prominent spot on the shelves, so I started with this book.  In the last three weeks, I've gotten about 20 HC books off ebay for almost nothing (I paid $6 including shipping for this one and it's in mint condition).

Anyway, I really liked this book.  The character development was really good and you get a better sense of what Maul is all about.  This book combined with the Dark Horse comics series on him are a really good combination.  My only regret in reading this book was that you can pretty much guess how it's going to end after the first 5-6 chapters.

Also, for anyone who has not read this book or Cloak of Deception by James Luceno, read that book first.  I wish I would have read this thread prior to starting Shadow Hunter, because now I'm reading Cloak of Deception and a lot of the characters and situations from Cloak of Deception carryover into Shadow Hunter.  I'm only about half way through CofD, but it is a really good read.  It sets up the events from EP1 in a much better light.  Luceno gives a lot of depth to the origins of the Trade Federation and the discontent in the Senate.

I highly recommend both of these books to anyone looking to bolster their pre-EP1 knowledge.

I too would love to see some Rep Commandos stories, but with Traviss signed on for two more novels, I wonder if there would be problems with crossover...

I think that I'm going to have to ditch the single issues of Legacy here soon because I will definitely be buying the 'Broken' tpb when it comes out so there's no sense in me continuing to buy them as single issues.  But I just can't get enough!

Shipping to your local comic book store this Wednesday (11/15/2006)...

STAR WARS KNIGHTS O/T OLD REPUBLIC COMMENCEMENT VOL 1 TP   $18.95

In case some of you haven't picked this up yet, tfaw.com has this on sale for $3.48 (82% off cover price)!!!  That's not a misprint nor is this a nick and dent item.  These are mint copies.  They also have a deal for free shipping on orders of $25 or more.  I just picked up this and a couple of other tpb's I'd been waiting to get.

I agree on the Snowspeeder.  I'd pick up two if they go on clearance.  There are approximately 20 Kit Fisto Starfighters on top of the action figure aisle and no sign of them getting shelf space any time soon.  Unless those hit rock bottom, I'm not going to bother with those.

At one of my local Targets there were only 6 of these on the shelves.  The same 6 that had been there for a month.  I went yesterday to check things out and the end cap that they were on had been reset for the Mace Battle Pack, etc.  I checked the system and these had been moved to the stock room.  There was no tag on the shelves anywhere for these (as well as the Kit Fisto Starfighter and the 3 general Battle Packs).  I talked to the manager of the toy section, and she said that her action figure sections were set for the rest of the year, and if there was not a spot on the shelves for these and there was merchandise in the stockroom, then it is a distinct possibility that these will be heading for clearance the next cycle.  That would be Wednesday of next week for me.

So all that being said, it might not hurt to start keeping an eye out for these items to show up on clearance soon...  I'll re-post next week if I find anything out.

Saga Collection '06 / Re: "Jedi vs. Darth Sidous" Battle Pack
« on: November 16, 2006, 11:20 AM »
For those of us that are looking for these (Jedi vs. Sidious, Sith Lord Attack, and Sarlacc), has anyone else had a hard time coming across these?  The two Targets by me had one case each that they put out a month ago and have never gotten any more of these in stock.  The TRU and the WM's don't even have a spot on the shelves for these.  Is it too early for these to be coming out in mass quantities, or have I just missed them all completely?
