Revenge of the Sith / Re: ROTS Figure Sales (or price hikes)!
« on: August 30, 2005, 05:09 AM »
I got the Sidious/Mace one at the same WM as Ben, and it's good for people interested in scene-specific dioramas (plus, it's $3).  I got a Saga Pilot Obi Wan cloak on Mace, and posed him exactly as he was when he was about to bring the hammer down on Palpy (only to have Anakin jack him) and the Palpatine is good for the moment where he leaps from his seat and lands in a crouch in front of the four jedi.  Plus his head comes off pretty easy, and you can stick the 'normal' one from the basic Palpy on there.

...When you got your first Star Wars figure?
- Around 4 - must have been X-Mas '78.

...When you first remember seeing a Star Wars movie in a theatre?
- I remember ESB with my grandparents in Rock Island, IL, 1980

...Went to your first professional sports game?
- Sadly, I am still a pro sports virgin.  Sigh.

...When you drank your first beer?
- 14, I think.

...Found the love of your life (if you have yet)?
- 25.

Revenge of the Sith / Re: Exclusives Overload?
« on: August 29, 2005, 10:55 PM »
I think there's too many, in some cases overpriced, and some of them like the Lava figures and the Covert thing are just silly to me.  I gave up on exclusives a long time ago, and so the only ones I have from this year are the Holo Yoda and the Target Clone, and that's only because of Ben.  I'd like the EB set very much, but that ship has sailed.

Saga Collection '06 / Re: Anyone Else Bored?
« on: August 29, 2005, 03:52 PM »
I'm not bored, but like Travis, very disenchanted with the exclusives.  Not even angry anymore, it just doesn't bother me.  I think that's what 10 years of collecting SW will do to you - nothing really bothers you, because A) everything is eventual, and B) they're just going to do a better version of whatever it is you're hurting for later on.

I've been through the fog of fatigue, survived, and now I'm pretty up on collecting, looking forward to next year.

I'll bet the Target one will be $13, too, since the red Target clone was.  This is just ugly.  There's no justification in the price, and it's just another way of Hasbro trying to cash in on clone madness without actually giving us what we want.

I'd never pass up a night with my gal for SW figures, especially that Sith Evolutions thing.

I take the bus, but since we're not getting in anything new at all anyway... still I would hate to have to own a car in this situation, and I feel for everybody.

But isn't Hasbro also using these same molds elsewhere?  isn't the SA body also in commission as that Stealth Trooper, and the #6 in the Jedi Temple Set?  Obviously they can spread it around, so why not with the Spec Ops trooper?

Saga Collection '06 / Re: Future Waves/Themes
« on: August 26, 2005, 08:27 PM »
That's hilarious.  Or how about:

BECAUSE SPUFFY DEMANDED IT WAVE:

SA Wedge that does not suck
Dorme
Handmaiden Padme, because duh?
SA Mace
SA AOTC Obi

Saga Collection '06 / Future Waves/Themes
« on: August 26, 2005, 03:19 AM »
I looked around for a thread like this, couldn't find any, so I thought since I'm bored, I'd throw out some ideas on future themes Hasbro could do beyond the ones we know.  I figure 8 waves isn't all we're going to get next year, so:

Clone Wars Wave: I thought this might be a lot of fun, continuing in the realistic style.

New figs:

Scuba Trooper (SA, of course)
Tatooed Vision Quest Anakin w/ removable hand(s)
Superior SA Obi in Clone Armor

Repacks/rehashes:

Snow Bunny Padme (easy enough, all Hasbro has to do is take the Droid Factory Chase Padme and doll her up)
Ithorian Jedi
Snow Yoda (just add hood)
Red ARC Trooper (blue, too)

And in case they don't get to Cody in the Coruscant wave:

Battle of Utapau:

New figs:
Commander Cody (what a shock)
Commander Fox (or whoever he is - funky helmet guy)
Little Utapau Dudes 2 pack
Utapau Minister (royal guard looking tall guy)

Repacks/Rehashes:
SA Clone (Utapau colors)
Pilot Obi (why not)
Nute Gunray (ROTS style)

They better find some way to do Padme, or I will be one upset Spuffy.   ;)

I think it just depends, what figures peg warm.  #6 vanilla clones have been sitting - in numbers - for over a week at Target, and now Bacarra is backing up too.  But then down in KC, I saw TONS of Wookie Warrior #43, everywhere, and he's vanished here in Iowa.  TRU here still has lots of Alaya Secura and Ki Adi Mundi, which no one else has.

The Anakin looks exactly like the 2002 deluxe version, where he slices and dices the Geonosian.  I'll have to fig him out and see.

The Gunner body will work fine for me.  With the leg joints, he's a lot more dynamic than the SA clone (save for the arm joints) and plus he has a removable helmet, which is always cool.

He's a tank gunner through and through.  I just swapped the heads and put the skirt piece over him and viola, instant Obi Armor.   :)
