So is there really a variation on Maris Brood or do we have another situation here where the figure shown at conventions is a pre-production sample featuring flesh colored skin, but the actual product version of the figure has gray/ashen skin color?

For those of you that have found this figure - what color skin have you found? I have a friend who found this figure last weekend and it is the grayish skin "version".

The Legacy Collection / Re: More Ultimate Battlepacks
« on: March 15, 2008, 09:29 PM »
although the figures sound good  there has to be some sorta accessory to make this set worth it. or even a vehicle. The other two UBP's had a vehicle and an accessory plus a handful of figures. thats what made them a great value. all this set has is 8 figures and what? a stack of wood so vader can be place. hopefully there is something that Curto missed.

I'm hoping that they both contain small playset-like pieces - like for the Endor Celebration Set, I'm sure we'll get a pyre to put Vader on, but I also think there should be the deck and at least two huts to represent a piece of the Ewok village.

With the Death Star Escape, I'm hoping that it will include the tractor beam control assembly. They'll probably put the figures in a hangar-like display, but it will be constructed of cardboard.

I know this is sort of "old news", but has anything been said/speculated where the VOTC Han Solo might see release this year?  I know its probably not a real big deal to many, but I was sort of hoping to be able to pick up some more of this great figure - and it really hasn't been available for awhile now.  Maybe it was supposed to come with the rumored Falcon, or maybe its still on the way in some sort of pack available in the last part of the year, but I was just curious if anyone had heard/read anything further on the possible re-release of VOTC Han.

Well - I don't know if it's true or not, but in the latest rumor report from Rebelscum, they say that the two 2008 Ultimate Battle Packs will be Endor Celebration and Death Star Escape.

My guess is that they'll use the VOTC Han Solo figure in the "Death Star Escape" set. Since the belt was a separate piece, they could easily replace Han's regular belt with a Stormtrooper belt.

The droid is slightly painted, but nothing significant other than the colored bar-arms (not quite sure what else to call them) that run horizontally beneath the dome. That's it. There are no other pre-applied decals, so the interior of the cockpit is decal-free.

It does make this ship look rather "plain".

Then again, that would require a set to go out without a Darth Vader in it, and such an event would result in the sun imploding.  ::)

LOL!  ;D Very funny!

You have a great point, this set would have been much better if it had been a kit-bashed Tarfful combined with the ROTS preview Wookie and then three of those Stormtrooper "Commanders". There was really no need for a Vader in this set. We're already getting a Vader as part of the TFU figure wave.

Believe or not....There is absolutely NO sticker sheet included with this ship.  I just found this out tonight at our geeky SW meeting, so this was news to me.  I guess there's lines painted on the droid, but that's all you get.

I'm still buying one though.   :)

This was a surprise to me as well. At first I thought I was missing the sticker sheet, but then when I saw that there weren't sticker label places indicated on the instruction sheet for the ship, that's what tipped me off to the fact that there weren't stickers at all.

Seems kind of odd, but oh well...

I have no doubt that you had to jump through hoops to get the correct sticker sheet for the ROTS TRU release.

I went through the same hassle trying to get Hasbro to send me two - since I bought two of them. They never sent me a second. I ended up using it on my opener, but I really wanted a sheet I could have left un-applied for my MIB one.

30th Anniversary Collection / Re: 30AC Star Wars Comic Packs

Has anyone ever seen the Mouse/Basso set where Basso DOESN'T have the should pauldron?

I saw that Rebelscum posted an update to their photo gallery on this set saying it's a variation, but once again (like with the Clean Black Pauldron Saga Legends Sandtrooper that has yet to surface) - we're dealing with a sample obtained from Hasbro for the original photoshoot and then the production piece has the pauldron.

Well as it turns out, I picked up a Blue Obi-Wan JSF a while back and opened it up to find (a) it's the same ship as back in 2005 and (b) the incorrect sticker sheet.

I packed it all back up, retaped the box and returned it to the store.

If the white had been changed to a better looking light gray then I might have kept this ship, but since it was the exact same one I already have, I passed. I did get one to keep MIB for my TAC collection, but that was for the packaging.

The Legacy Collection / Re: Ideas for Future Evolutions Sets?
« on: March 9, 2008, 12:15 PM »
WOOKIEES - I think there's a solid idea here, but I have a different lineup that I think would be stronger
-Zaalbar - KNIGHTS OF THE OLD REPUBLIC video game
-Tarfful - REVENGE OF THE SITH - SA, proper blaster (The ROTS version wasn't that good)
-Chewbacca - THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK - SA w/ breath mask, tools & bowcaster

I don't see anything wrong with this line-up, I think it's a really solid mix of three wookies.

I think that these Evolutions sets are probably going to be our best bet for getting more figures from the KOTOR era.

30th Anniversary Collection / Re: Hermi Odle... Sort of Uncommon?

I saw another Hermi just the other day. I didn't have any trouble picking up this figure. Ephant Mon was a much harder figure to track down IMHO.

The Clone Wars '08-'13 / Re: Clone Wars Wave 1

My comment was with regard to the toy line failing. Not the series or the airing of the first few episodes in theatres. I have no doubt that both will do extremely well.

Hasbro would be foolish not to be taking note of the luke-warm response the style change has received. Perhaps sales might indicate differently, but based on collector feedback I've seen, I don't see collectors factoring in to the success of this line. In order for this line to succeed they're going to need buy-in from kids. Hopefully Hasbro has plans on advertising the line during the show itself.

30th Anniversary Collection / Re: Recent 30AC Purchases
« on: February 23, 2008, 12:41 PM »
The limited you on the purchase of all 2008 Wave 1 figures - 1 of each. I tried to order two of each and it wouldn't let me put my order through until I had reduced my quantities to 1 of each.

They've done this before with figures from new waves.

2864
So what is their excuse reason for the substantial price increase?

If this is the new regular price for each 12" figure, I think I may have to drop out of this line, I just can't justify spending $90 on something that should be in the $40 - $50 range. I was willing to accept the jump from the Hasbro $20 price to the Sideshow $50 price based on the better detail, better bodies, better scupting, etc... but a 450% increase in price from what we used to pay in 2005 to now is a bit much.

You almost want to tell them to get off their high-horse, increase the production runs and bring the overall cost of the figures down.

Well, I do find it interesting that the press release said 28 and the reports from the collector event indicate 23 figures. So already, Hasbro is coming off as cautious with regard to this line.
