Title: Most Wanted (non-carded figures)
Post by: Mister Skeezler on October 25, 2010, 10:06 PM
I know we have a lot of want lists as far as carded figures go, but I thought I'd start one for figures (or creatures) that don't fit on a standard card. The new Jabba set has me pretty geeked out because it's different from the norm. It seems like we get figures, vehicles or battle packs, and it was cool to get something that doesn't really fit into those categories.

Having said that, what are you guys hoping to see in the not-so-distant future?

Here's one of mine...

Emperor Palpatine with throne

Preferably, I'd love to have those two little tech stations that are in front as well (Luke jumps into one while he's fighting Vader). The spider web window would just be the icing on the cake.

Wouldn't that constitute a playset?  :P  How about making it an articulated Emperor with softgoods robe?

Well, we definitely need an articulated emperor from ROTJ with softgoods, but we also need that throne. I'm just thinking of what else they could throw in there to increase the value a bit.

I guess in some ways it would be a playset, but only as much as the current Jabba set is a playset.

They 'could' make this as a plastic base with a cardboard backdrop, a two piece snap together chair; kinda more like one of the vehicle dioramas.

I want a Gundark. Or whatever that thing was that demolished the Rancor on that Video Game preview.

They did that... in 1997 (http://www.rebelscum.com/POTF2finaljediduel.asp).  :P

I ditched the Emperor figure that came with that cinema scene a long time ago, but the chair works well with any number of the recent Sidious/Emperor figures until they can put out something new/better.

Tuan-Tauns!
Luke's, Han's and a generic echo Base one would be sweet but alas, Hasbro no longer knows how to do running changes.

I know it would never happen, and its been sort of done before, but gun stations.  I'm thinking a whole turbo-laser battery, or atleast a single gun, like the ones seen on the first Death Star firing at Luke 'n Friends.  I just think it would be a cool way to tie a bunch of the Imperial figures together.  Again, never going to happen, but I think it would be a cool piece for display (especially since it seems that so much of the Rebel firepower is in snub-fighters, so logically their counterpart would atleast partly be Imperial gunner crews...).

If all you want is the throne, I highly recommend you find the Halmark Emperor from I believe last year or the year before.  Once you pry him off the throne, it's unmatched in detail and figure-scaled.  It leaves a hole in the seat, but covers up with a figure just fine.

I have it on my impy shelf right now, and love it.

I'd be down for more logs of various sizes and colors.

Although it's Sidious, here's a photo of the Hallmark Throne (http://www.yakface.com/TGuide2004/ActionFigures/TVC/basicfigures/VC12/lf28.html) with a 3-3/4" figure.

Perhaps a Shadow Log?  Or even a McQuarrie Log?

Cool pic Jayson...

I was really pleased with that.  I knew the moment I saw Palps ornament that I had to have an extra, so I waited for the sale...  The bitch is getting him off the throne without damage to the arm rest area.  The hole is easily filled in with a little mighty putty or something (seriously, I'm not making that up.  Mighty Putty is great filler for plastic, and can be sculpted before curing to look like the cushion).  Mine had the arms glued to the arm rests, but I pried them up and sanded a little and it was fine.

It makes me hope for more "environment-specific" bits from halmark's ornies because they're almost always to-scale.

Another case-in-point, the Bespin Gantry an old Vader ornie came with...  It's not a cheaper ornament though, but it's a perfect scaled representation of that piece of set.  With Bespin Luke and a Vader figure beckoning, it's really a cool "scene" you can do for relatively little cash.

NICE!!! I've got to pick that up. How did you remove him from the throne?

I have a long/thin flat-head screwdriver I just used to pry him GENTLY till he snapped loose at the points he was glued to the throne.  It broke the Emperor figure/character itself, but that was fine by me.  I only wanted the seat.  I got it for 75% off or something too, so it was super cheap.

As you can see in the picture Jayson showed, it's a really great sculpt.  Fantastic deco, super detailing on the arm rest panels.  It's vastly superior to the POTF2 throne, which was cool in its own right.  This one though, has its own base so it sits by itself just fine.  Very cool.  It's a central focus on my Impy's shelf really.

BTW, I'll second som Imperial artillery...  The Vintage Death Star's cannon actually is pretty well-scaled, but requires a base be made for it to sit properly.  It's pretty nicely detailed other than the seat being a little sloppy since it's for figures without articulation really.  I've seen customs of it that look insanely impressive.  I've stocked up on a few of those guns even with the hope of doing a gun section someday.  THey're well detailed pieces.  I'd love Hasbro to do a new one though, obviously.

You know, I'd be happy with a log too.  All this damn caffeine that I can't just seem to quit is wreaking havoc with my........ oh.  Never mind.
