On tap for the first wave in the new "Shadow of the Dark Side" (Hasbro's name, not mine) packaging:
- General Grievous w/cape
- Pre Vizsla
- Mandalorian Guard
- Aurra Sing
(http://www.jedidefender.com/gallery/files/gallery/Conventions/Toy_Fair_2010/Hasbro_Star_Wars/Collector_Presentation/Slide8.JPG)
...and possibly a new Mace and ARF repaint. Both were shown in the displays (http://www.jedidefender.com/gallery/imageFolio.cgi?direct=Conventions/Toy_Fair_2010/Hasbro_Star_Wars), but Hasbro wasn't sure they'd make it into this wave or the next.
-
This wave looks VERY good from the pictures I've seen, especially Aurra Sing. 8)
-
Aurra does look sweet...I am psyched about this one!
-
Yeah, really nice wave overall - and one I'm looking forward to as well.
-
These look fantastic. The likeness on Pre Vizla is one of the best I've ever seen from Hasbro.
-
This looks like a solid wave. I'm very pleased to see the Mandos this quickly. The updated Grievous looks like it might be my favorite out of the group.
-
I'm just surprised that they went that Mando guard in the less exciting uniform, instead of the big helmeted guards that protected Satine. Nice figures though.
-
I'm hoping we see Satine and the Mando Guard both before the end of the year.
-
Really nice looking bunch, I'm really looking forward to Aurra and Vizsla. Hopefully he comes with a helmet. Is it just me or does it look like they both have ball hips as well?
-
yeah they both have BJ hips ;D
-
The Mandalorian Guard barely looks like he belongs in Star Wars. And, despite saying "Grievous with cape", every other indication, including leaked in-package images, show Grievous without a cape. I wonder if Hasbro confused this with the Grievous to be released in the ROTS wave of TVC.
As for Aurra Sing, what a great figure. ;D I hope the realistic version to be released in 2011 is this great.
-
Yep, the new CW Grievous doesn't include a cape, but includes interchangeable battle damaged parts instead.

Which, to me personally, is WAAAY better. ;)

Where's Pre's Wicked Cool Black Lightsaber? Looks like he is pictured holding some kind of knife. When did he use a knife in that episode?
Agree 100% that Aurra is the runaway winner of the lot. Count me in for multiples.

That is the Dark-saber he's holding.
-
Yep, it's the darksaber (http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Darksaber_(lightsaber))

-
Well, shut my mouth. :-X
So it is.
Oops!
-
I'm shocked that the saber is not full length - or is it? Wasn't the blade longer in the cartoon? To me, it seemed to be the same length of a standard lightsaber.
-
Nice shots of loose figs from this Wave on the front page.
Aurra's antenna is starting to bug me though...looks like some kind of weird growth from the top of her head. Wish they had slapped a different paint app on there.
-

Isn't that what it was? That's what I thought it looked like to me in the toon.
-

It's supposed to be an sub-neural antenna grafted to her head. Depending on which source you reference, the color varies.
On the Premium Format Sideshow figure, it is clearly differentiated from her natural chalky skin tone.
On the show, it was colored white. In the films, it's really hard to tell if it's even there in most shots. On the figure, they made it a lot thicker too.
Anyway, Plo Koon chopped it off, so it's sort of a moot point I guess.
-
iirc from earlier shots it looked to be removable - only problem is then she had a divit in her head.
-
It is removable... if I remember correctly, the POTJ figure has NO antenna at all.
-
Probably premature to be posting this, but my company recently relocated some business offshore to Manila, and we have a contingent headed over next week to start the advance work. The gal that sits behind me is part of that team, and graciously agreed to hunt for the Wave 1 TCW figures that are out over in the Phillipines now. She's due back in about 10 days I believe, so with a little luck I may actually have these carded buggers in hand before the month is out. We'll see.
-
HTS now has this wave listed on their website. All are shown as "out of stock" though...damn. >:(
Gettin' closer...
-
:o
:o :o
:o :o :o
TRU.com has this entire wave in stock and available for sale online - $7.49 each!!! (Plus shipping and handling)
I just ordered all 4 new figures - Grievous, Pre, Aurra, and Mando Guard for $36.46 total.
All are still in stock as of this writing.
They also had the new Interceptor Tank, plus a few of the new Deluxe Vehicle Figure packs, but most of those were sold out already.
If anyone out there is as pumped as I am to get these, might be worth a look! :)
-
After realizing I could get free shipping with any order over $49, I went back and canceled my original order and re-submitted it with the new Clone Interceptor Tank thrown in to put me over the threshold. $60.83 total for 4 new TCW figures, plus the Vehicle. I figure that's probably not much more than I'd be likely to pay in the store anyway. Plus no brutal six week wait. ;D
Super psyched about this, hope some of the rest of you guys get in on the action too!
-
Yeah, I also treated myself to some new toys. Three Clone Wars guys (Grevous, Aurra, and Pre) and the snowspeeder. My total after tax was $54ish, which isn't too bad. The way I figure it is that I'm paying about $5.00 to get some new swag a bit early. Plus I will spend $50 less in August.

Stopped in at TRU today to do some b-day shopping for our daughter, and found these on the pegs (as well as the "new" Legends figures - no sign of Vintage). Kind of cool to see something new on the pegs.

Where do you live, bro?
Did they have the new Deluxe Vehicle Figure packs out too?
-
All the TRU's around here are managed by Nazis who treat street dates like the freaking 10 Commandments.
Yeah, heaven forbid that those employees keep you from getting YOUR TOYS that you're ENTITLED too. Buncha jerks...
-
LOL, for sure I knew someone would get bent out of shape about that...purely tongue-in-cheek. I respect anyone trying to do their job, I just wish we had more of the types around here that don't give a whoot.

I live in Nebraska (Lincoln), and they didn't have the deluxe vehicle figure packs out. Just that first wave of CW (Aurra, Pre, Mando, Grievous and repacks I believe), and the first wave of Legends (Bossk, IG-88, etc.). No signs of anything else, at least not yet, but it was nice to see something new.
-
The funny thing is that I keep running into Wave 15 - the one that includes all repacks and General Grievous. :-\
I even had two more cases of Clone Wars brought out to me this afternoon and they were the Wave 15 cases.
McMetal - none of the three TRUs where I've been and had success at getting at least ONE new item at have had the Deluxe figures, I'm thinking that those haven't found their way to the stores yet.
-
Thanks Pete, I think you are right. I haven't heard or seen any reports of the Deluxe stuff on shelves yet, I just thought it might be since it was up on TRU.com like the other stuff recently.
My order from TRU.com for this wave arrived today. Wow, talk about some badly warped cards! I am fine with keeping these as openers, but I'm definitely going to have to pick up some mintier cards at some point.
They're all nice, but Aurra and Pre are the clear winners. Two of my favorite figures they have done so far, for sure!
-
I agree, Pre Visla is an awesome figure and will fit in nicely on modern shelves as well

Hasbro is actually referring to these waves as wave 1 and 1.5. And of course Grievous doesn't include the cape, contrary to what Hasbro told us. Personally I think they got mixed up with this one and the Vintage Collection ROTS wave Grievous.
-

I came across my first big finds of Vintage and Clone Wars figures today, and without really even knowing who was in the Clone Wars wave, I saw it for myself and decided Aurra and Pre were the best 2 and bought them. No regrets at $7.49 each. The $9.99 Vintage price at TRU bothered me, but even at that price I did buy an AT-AT Commander.
-
I apologize if this is something that was already covered somewhere, but I discovered today that the chest plate on the new Grievous comes off and that the legs easily separate at the swivel joint above the knee.
I found this pretty cool 'cause putting on the battle damaged head and popping off the legs leaves you with a version of Grievous that is exactly like how he appeared in the Lair of Grievous episode in Season 1 after Kit Fist and Nahdar Vebb sliced off his legs and the Clone Troopers shot Grievous in the face.
The legs also easily come off at the hips exposing the ball joint.
When I first opened this figure, I will less than thrilled with it - but now that I've discovered how much more versatile it is for displaying Grievous in a variety of battle-damaged ways, I'm much more pleased with how the figure turned out....
-
Found these today, picked up Vislaz and Sing and like everyone, am very impressed with them both. But didn't the early pics of Aurra have her with balljoint hips?
-
But didn't the early pics of Aurra have her with balljoint hips?
She doesn't have ball-jointed hips?! >:(
-
Nope, just the standard swivel hips. Vislaz has the ball joint hips though.
-
I picked up Aurra Sing and Pre Viszla both on Sunday at my local Target.
-
So I'm confuzzled - are the battle-damaged limbs meant for Grievous' arms or legs? Because in the cartoon, Kit Fisto slices his legs off. However, in most pictures of the action figure, the damaged parts seem to be meant for his arms, and it doesn't look like Hasbro tooled his legs to attach to the damaged parts.
-
Cracked open Mr. Vizsla tonight. WOW. Awesome figure. May have to cave on the Mando BP when it hits.
-
Saw all of this wave today, except Mr. Viszla. I was terribly impressed by Aurra Sing. There was an overly-healthy supply of Mando Guards, and I have a feeling those won't go too fast. I hope I'm wrong, because with this relaunch I hope my local Target doesn't get caught behind so early because of damn pegwarmers. This is the point for all retail stores to start 100% fresh and burn all of those leftovers they had.
-
I only had enough money to buy one figure today, so I was tied between Grievous and Aurra. Eventually chose Grievous since he had more accessories and what-not.
No other TCW waves past this one have shown up so far - hope to see them soon.
Viszla is the most popular by far, I haven't seen him at all. Next I would say is Grievous, then Aurra Sing, then Mando Guard. I'm shocked Aurra isn't one of the first to go, especially because she's such a cool character and well-done figure. If anything, there's an over-abundance of her.
