That booing was a farce.  Packer fans should be embarrassed.

Which booing?  Are you saying they shouldn't have booed Favre or should have booed him more.  I was pretty embarrassed by the stupid signs in the stands saying "we still love you Favre."  Buncha pansies.  Those aren't Packer fans, those are just Brent* fans.

Yes, I know it's Brett.  I have decided to just call him Brent from now on.

Nah, he deserves applause.  They should be booing Ted Thompson.  Meanwhile, Favre's throwing TD passes all over the place on the Packers, swept the series, and took a stranglehold on the North.

Rob, since you're not a Packer fan, I'll try to be understanding of your position.  As an actual Packer fan,  I completely side with those who are loyal to the team and not to an ex player.  I root for my team and boo for the opposing team.  Every opposing QB that takes the field at any NFL game gets booed by the fans and Favre should be no different.  He was a great player for the Packers, but if you take the field playing against the home team, you should get booed just like anybody else.  The people with no class are those so loyal to Brent that they would wear Green and Gold and still cheer for him as a Viking.  I'm I Green Bay Packers fan, not a Favre fan.

As for Thompson and the rest of the organization, I don't think Favre really gave them any choice.  You should try building a team around a guy who can't decide if he is going to play again year after year.  How do you draft not even knowing who your starting QB is going to be each year?  They did their best to accomodate him for a few years and then they went in another direction.

And yes, Favre is playing some great football right now, but I guarantee you he would not be having this kind of season with the Packers.  His success is tied to the supporting cast of the Vikings (Allen, Peterson, the Williams Wall) and I'm sure he feels rejuvenated playing for a new team all over again after all these years.  As I recall, most experts predicted the Vikings to win the NFC North even before Favre signed up...if they can win with T-Jack, they sure as hell ought to be winning with a guy like Favre under center.

Nice game this week Cranes.  You got hosed with that Slaton injury, especially since his backup Moats had a field day.  Better luck next week!

Outside of the Vikings not being able to cover a LB...old fashioned ass whoopin.  You guys remember that Farve used to play for the Packers?  They didn't want him anymore

That's a pretty simplistic view of what happened.  It wasn't that they didn't want him - they just couldn't build a team around a guy who wouldn't decide if he was playing or not until a week before the season.  Switch Favre and Rodgers around in the game today and I think you'd see Rodgers walk away with the win instead of "We'll never forget you Brent."  I think Peterson gives the Vikes a bit of an advantage as well.

Overall, a pretty fun game to watch despite the outcome.  Looked like it was going to be a blowout at first, so I'm glad the Cheese put out a little more effort in the second half.  Kudos on the win Vikings fans!

I saw one go last week go for under $30.   :-\  I have a mind to snag one of these for my collection, but I never got the original Pit Droids either.

I have a spare set of the original pit droids for cheap if you want 'em Darb.   ;)

ANH by far.  I like the Empire and need to see ROTS again sometime soon, but somehow ANH is the one I end up seeing most of the time.

Hey GT!

Welcome to the forums and the unofficial site of the most obsessive Kubrick fans around!  What has been the primary source of your collection?  Do you have connections overseas or are you just picking up what you can on Ebay?  Be sure to share some pics with us if you can.

As for the Kubie's Most Wanted List, mine would include several of the ones you listed.  I've been lucky with a few chases, but the ones I'd most like to track down at this point are General Veers, Zam Wessel, and Yakface.  For unproduced Kubies, my top five would probably consist of these guys:

1.) Hammerhead
2.) Hoth Rebel Soldier
3.) Kit Fisto
4.) Weequay Skiff Guard
5.) Durge

Maybe Ree-Yees as an alternate as well as long as I'm making a wish list.   ;)

Well, they apparently are going to correct them and there will be two different versions, so I think that is the definition of a variant, right?   ;)

Yeah, I know what it means thanks.  I was sort of hinting that I wonder whether they're still going to fix them or not, since I thought they were fixing them before anything shipped.

Well, I was sort of hinting that Hasbro already confirmed there will be two versions.   ;)  If you read the statement Jayson linked above, they clearly state it:

"This was just a production variant from our China vendor, and we have actually already made a production correction to the eyes to give him black eyes. "

They aren't saying they are going to correct it, they're saying the initial release is a variant and that they have already made the correction, which would indicate alternate black eyed figures have already been produced.

I checked on the prices on this since the new one came out. It's dropped like a brick. Looks like it can be had for under $40.

That's not that big of a drop.  I think I got mine about a year ago off Ebay for about $45 shipped.

That's what I thought... I wonder if this means there will be a variant.  Because the eyes on mine are light with black dots.

Well, they apparently are going to correct them and there will be two different versions, so I think that is the definition of a variant, right?   ;)  Got mine yesterday and they are the gold eyes as well - I definitely prefer the black eyed look on the back though.

The Legacy Collection / Re: 2009: Worst Distribution Year Ever?
« on: October 31, 2009, 01:14 PM »
There is someone at Target who specifically goes through the toy section aisle by aisle looking for low inventory counts on a regular basis.  They are trained in what they do (contrary to Jesse's comments about all retail staff not knowing their ass from a hole in the ground) and they will zero out inventory as E mentioned to reset counts when they feel it is needed.  The automated system is there to simplify the process and take care of 95% of the work, but there needs to be someone checking on it and able to correct it when needed.

I don't know about Wal-Mart or other retailers, but I would be shocked if they didn't have a similar process in place.  I've met some very helpful and intelligent sales people at WM who have gone the distance to help me out, so Jesse, I find your comments indicating that they are all untrained ignorants to be pretty offensive.  Kind of ironic that you are calling them ignorant then talking out your ass about inventory management systems you know nothing about.

Now are these people "merchandising specialists" who are expressly trained in knowing the nuances of every item in the toy section inside and out?  Of course not.  But they don't need to be a specialist in toys to understand that empty space on the shelves should be scanned and investigated and are trained to do that fairly simple task.

The problem with Star Wars is that you can't easily tell the three different lines apart.  I don't blame retail people for that - there are numerous UPCs per DPCI code and a slight color change on the packaging is all that they have to go by.  They are told to front face all the pegs when cleaning up the aisles, and if they can't tell the figures apart, then they're going to be putting Legends and CW figs on the Legacy pegs - they're just trying to do their job.  Hasbro obviously realizes this is a problem as they've already commented that they will be making the packaging more distinctive next year.

I think we're all a little frustrated by some of the distribution issues of late, but I think what retailers are doing is a very very small part of the issue.

Everything I've ever heard counters that, but I don't know many Target people either...  One of my best freinds is a WM manager though, and they've got no control over it except to contact distribution centers/regional and comment on the issue.  Usually to no avail.

Well realistically, there are manual overrides to everything.  Would it make any sense to set up an ordering system that is 100% dependent on an automated process that couldn't be corrected in the case of errors?  As far as I know, it's not as easy as just entering a code and ordering a couple cases as the earlier story suggested.  However, at Target you can zero out your store's inventory and by default that should mean the DC is going to ship you new product as soon as they are able.

I honestly don't see how anything changed, when WM's on automatic renewal like everyone else...  An employee may say they're going to order more, but they ultimately cannot.  It's out of their hands.

Jsut because they have an auto-order system doesn't mean they can't override the process to order more stock.  It's been a long time since I worked at Target, but we could zero out the counts, effectively ordering new product as soon as it becomes available.
