Remember seeing a pic of this guy in an Insider a while back? Perhaps it was the issue with the Clonetrooper on the cover.
Anyways, has anyone heard anything about a figure being made? I thought this was a very cool design, and I hope we don't have to wait around forever to get a figure made. I remember it took until POTJ to get a Gungan Warrior figure, and at that time there were already 4-5 Jar Jar figures...
Thoughts? I think this guy looks great, and could also have awesome customizing potential...
:P
-
Word out of Hasbro's been that they realize the potential with "army building" a bit more than they have in the past... The Neimodian's a neat sounding figure, and a must-have, so I'm just hoping he'll be a worthy figure in the end.
Judging by most articulation seen, I think he will. I hope they follow the design in Insider as well. Nice continuity. It was a pretty great design anyway as I recall.
-
I don't think they will make him right away. Instead they may try to focus on the multitude clonetroopers, wookies, battle droids, Vaders, Anakins, Kenobi's, Yodas, and the like. If we do get him it will just be one figure.
-
Sure would be cool if he made an appearance in the Collection 2 series, but you are probably right.
:P
-
I sure hope they do. The Neimodian character design is actually pretty neat once you put them in non-silly hats and robes. The soldier looks cool, and I'd buy a bunch if they weren't preposed things.
I have a feeling this will end up being the ultimate army builder movie. There's tons of seperate conflicts to recreate involving tons of races/Seperatists/Clones/Jedi.
I really think that once they get core characters involved in the central plot of ROTS out of the way, there's even vast potential to power a SW line in a much more in-depth way that the Clone Wars line barely scratched.
-
The Nemoidian Solider is on a french list that's been circulating. I'm sure we'll get it at some point in 2005. Especially since this character might see some action with one of the main characters in the movie. Patience, young padawans.

Hmmm... yeah, I have a feeling they will have a run in with a young Jedi...
:P

Someone posted a picture at Scum that was of a custom I think, but had the Neimodian soldier picture behind it... Why, I do not know.
If I find it I'll post.

There he is...
I knew I saw that somewhere.

I remember seeing that too. Just a simple custom of course, but still nice to see.
I think I'll try and customize my own Nemoidian Soldier for an upcoming photonovel. Hopefully it won't turn out too bad.
:P

When I posted that though, I did so more for the image behind the custom, haha (I'd actually not even realized the custom was a Neimodian soldier... whoops). The soldier picture behind him's the one from Insider though I think. They were the reserves being used by the Separatist forces when battledroid lines fell or something, I dunno.
-
I like the design of the character. It would make for a nice figure I think.
:P
-
It probably would hit the shelves as a single figure in Collection 2 and my guess on that would be July or August...considering past releases

I could go for that. Ever since EPI, I thought there should be some sort of Nemoidian soldier in a film. Hope they do get a figure out!
:P

Anyone plan on making a Neimodian army? I know I am as these figures look great and once I stat my first photonovel I have plans for them...........
-
I'm probably only going to get two of these and the Utapauan Warrior. They just look pretty lame, from what I've seen.
-
Depends on the Neimodian's quality more than anything... I haven't seen the figure first-hand yet to really judge, but if it's a good figure, I'll stock up. They seem to be a race heavy enough in the war to warrant amassing an army to fight Clones.
I wonder if they sport a removable brain bucket or not... I like that Lucas ran with an EU design on these that was established, rather than establishing his own idea on them.
-
I'm holding off on any army plans until I see the movie. If they only really appear in one specific room on one specific planet, I'll probably only get enough to recreate that scene.
I've got a feeling the action feature arm thing he has going on will turn me off from the figure, however.
-
"I like that Lucas ran with an EU design on these that was established, rather than establishing his own idea on them."
These guys were from the EU? The only image that I had seen of them prior to the film were from comics that had been drawn after the movie was shot in 2003.
Would love to know more.
Anyway, these figures look neat, but the big goofy un-holdable gun just about blows it for me. Who knows, maybe I'll give him Tion Meddons rifle.
-
I think I want about 10 of them. Gotta have several for various dioramas, and of course photonovels.
:P

I'm pretty sure that Joe Corroney showed the Neimoidian Warriors in his HoloNet News series of illustrations. Those appeared in the Star Wars Insider. I'm pretty sure his look for them corresponded with the way they appear in the movie, although I can't find those images on his web site.
-
While I may change my opinion once I get my hands on one of these figures, but I really really really wish Hasbro hadn't put any action features into this figure (or the second Wookie Warrior for that matter). It's passable that they put the quick-draw action into the #6 clonetrooper mainly because we're getting the SA Clonetrooper #41 and that won't have action features.
I'll probably get two to flank Nute Gunray and the rest of the separatists as they cower in the bunker on Mustafar. ;D
-

Yep. I've got this guy and he sucks. :(
He is pretty limited in the articulation area and his "rocket-firing cannon" is pretty much useless.
I can't seem to put him in any pose with that rocket-launcher gun of his that doesn't look goofy. All he looks good doing is standing there with the gun sort of on his arms like he's guarding a door. If only he would have had a bit more arm articulation and a smaller gun, he probably would have been a better figure.
His helmet is removable though, so there is one little bright spot for customizers wanting to use his head for something better...

Can you post any pics Jeff? Or want to trade it to me for a Clone or something? :)

Sorry, my OCD demands that I keep this one for my loose collection (whether I like it or not). ;)
I'll try to post a picture or two tonight...

I'll definitely be getting one. And I would like a small army, around 8-10. If he really is akward with the gun and I don't like him I'll just customize them a bit. :)

Yea...that's mine.
It's not done....that was an in progress picture.

That's the Joe Corroney illustration I was referring to.
-
Better finish that custom soon Jediknight!
:P
-
That illustration is done from a still from the set of E3. In fact, I think it was one of the firts E3 images that Lucasfilm published. The comic guys get photos very early for their work. I'm sure the illo was published before the photo. Remember, the movie was shot in the summer of 2003.

NIcklab...I realized that...Wasn't trying to rain on anyone's parade. :)
CHEWIE: You wish...it's been sitting there since whenever I out it together. (Long before I had taken the picture) :D

Here's the pose I have mine in:
Nice and neutral.
On the legs, he has swivel ankle joints, but no knee joints. ::)
On the arms, he does have ball-jointed shoulders, but he has only cut-joints ont he arms. His gun has a goofy handle that he can't really hold. Like I said, I didn't really like any other poses I could get him in where he was holding his rocket launcher.
He looks really nice just standing there though... :D

Hmmm...
I'm torn on liking him now. Helmet sounds cool, arms sound passable (if you give him a new gun anyway, that gun he has is incredibly ****-tacular), but no knee articulation blows for any army builder after the greatness that is the 4/2 army builders.
Hell, even some of the non-army builders really.
Anyway, I'll take a few but I'm not going nuts with this one I think. If I can find a good rifle for them that matches their EU appearance (or guns they have in the films... I somehow doubt they're all packing an attomic bomb launcher like that) then I'll maybe nab more...
The leg articulation is a bummer Jeff, sad to hear that. The arms may be too. Hmmm
-
Thanks for the pic, Jeff. I can confidently say I will stick with 2 openers and 1 carded, and pass on army building.
-
Wow, they really blew a golden opportunity on this one. Sad thing is, we'll probably never see a resculpt of it giving it the glory it deserves.
Count me in for several still though, I think I can customize them to my liking.
:P
-
That gun is absolutely ludicrous. When I get mine, I'll sub different blasters or maybe force pikes.
-

Same here - two open for a Mustafar diorama with the seperatist leader figures from the two screen scenes (minus Dooku of course) plus Wat Tambor and Lott Dodd.

So, who's excited to be getting another one of these suckers in the Final 12? Boy, I sure am, 'cause the first one's been an absolute bitch to find so far...

Dude, you crack me up sometimes.

Ooooh I might pass out fromt he excitement

Something good is going to come off those French lists eventually.

Somthing good from the French? :P

Yup. It's called "fries," you should try some.

I can't! My diet!
What's this French List that is spoken of?

To be honest, I'm actually looking forward to this figure. I love the Nemoidian Warrior - I'm shocked that so many people seem to think it's a lame figure.
:P
-
I don't think it's lame, I actually like it. I bought 3 or 4 so far, and I'm bringing them home en masse come clearance time.
However, that figure is an easy repaint. And I hate to see it reissued so soon when there's 30 on the pegs at all times in every store, when I still don't have Bacara grunt, Cody grunt, Cody, Gree grunt etc.
Nice figure, but still a bad choice.
-
Quick note
On the Hasbro figure poster for Episode 3, the Warrior pictured is actually Silver Decoed like this new Variation. I would guess they had this planned all along and were going to do a running change at some point. Weird one to do it one but, whatever

Matt, you know what they would have told you at San Diego if you said that...
"Well, you whiny collectors asked for army builders, so that's why we shipped so many."
To which I say, a character who stands in one position and does not move for the duration of his two seconds of screen time and of which there are only two of does not an army builder make. When Nute Gunray, Rune Haako, and Lott Dod, all of whom have lines and (in the case of the former) have prominent roles and abundant screentime in all three prequels, don't sell as action figures, Hasbro should have the common sense (HA!) to realize Captain Statue of the Bug People isn't going to move past the collectors.
One of the funniest things I've ever seen happened today while I was out of town on business. I had heard of people rearranging the pegs at stores so each peg had one character on them, but I'd never seen it. Well, a Wal-Mart on my trip had fallen victim to this. And the grand champion?
The Neimoidian Warrior, who took up four entire pegs with 31 figures. The Wookiee Warriors and Clone Pilots each rang in with 22 each, and the only other figures represented were Tarfull, Palpatine (35), Grievous' Bodyguard, and the Super Battle Droid, all of whom had one entire peg to themselves. Bail Organa was the "winner" in this competition with only two figures on one peg, but I laughed for a good ten minutes at the absurdity of it all.
Three of the biggest pegwarmers out there (Neimoidian, Clone Pilot, and Wookiee) and Hasbro is trotting all three of them out again at a really late stage in the game to further clog pegs nationwide. Brilliant.
-
I think the character looks nice, I just hate that gun
and the articulation
-
I actually like the figure too Matt, but the point stands that he's littering pegs in a film-used costume, so the silver paintjob "Commander" isn't a GREAT idea.
My like of the figure is that I think it looks good, and the Neimodian Gunner was a nice figure, he just isnt' popular. I disagree with you some Michael on it NOT being an army builder because the character sucked, I think Hasbro over-estimated is all... I've bought a handful, and will pick more up (especially come an expected clearance on these).
The figure's not perfect, but he's pretty close... SHort of some knee articulation he's really poseable. I have mine doing an assault on some Clones using Battledroid guns till I find a suitable rifle replacement for them.
He's a good figure, just a bad figure to re-release... I like the new paintjob even, but like the Grievous Guard he's EVERYWHERE. :(
I will say, my army builder glut are dwindling. The Neimodian's lagging behind the Wookiee and Clone Pilot, but all 3 are moving VERY slowly. In my neck of the woods, Bail and Mas Ameda are reigning pegwarmers.
This Neimodian's one of those figures where, as much as I love the figure and want more of it, I gotta just bite the bullet that what i want isn't what's good for retail at the moment. Way WAY too many of this guy around for most. He's not a bad figure though... Give him the right gun and ball/socket knees and he'd be damn near perfect.
-
Does the head seem a little small to you guys when you take the helmet off? That's one thing I found a little weird.
-
Definitely smaller than others, yet in the movie it looks small when you see the helmet and really compare... I'm chalking it up to just variety among the species, since they really do differ between each other.
