Watto's Junk Yard / Re: Doctor Who

I watched my first Hartnell episode last night, An Unearthly Child.  Interesting to see how it all began.  Hartnell seems to play the Doctor as a cranky old man.  Really different than an of the other Doctors I've seen (Tom Baker to Matt Smith).  Too bad a lot of these old episodes were destroyed by the BBC.

Is the panic button on the cell phone?

No, a panic button on the control pads for the alarm system.

Why not ditch the security system and go with a self monitoring system over the internet? A system like that could send updates to your cell phone. You could even add cameras that can be accessed from the web.

It is much easier for the company to call me to tell me an alarm has gone off and should they send the police then getting a text at 2AM where I have to get up and get to a computer to see if someone is breaking in.  Plus I have a panic button that automatically summons the police if someone is breaking in while I'm at home and the alarm isn't armed.

I'm 36 and have cable and internet from the same provider.  I ditched the landline several years ago and just use my cell.  The only people who ever called the landline were telemarketers anyways.  The only downside is an additional fee for my security system.  However, the fee was less than what I paid for the landline.

Is this one shipping yet?  I just got an email saying my waitlist was about to be cancelled due to no one cancelling orders.  This would be the first time the waitlist has failed me.

1:6 Scale Figures and Collectibles / Re: 12" Modal Nodes

They were clearanced here...  Really easy to get.  I wasn't even into them at the time and picked up Figrin D'an who was supposedly the hardest one to get, and got him pretty cheap.   :-\

I agree that another Clone's maybe not the route to go, but another Cantina alien that hadn't been done by anyone would've been more appreciated IMO.  Something particularly weird.

I paid a little over retail for them off of ebay when ebay was pretty new.  Maybe $2 a figure extra which I didn't think was bad at the time.  My Walmarts were consistently bad with exclusives through the 90's.  I only found their 12" Degobah Luke exclusive once, and it was the last figure.

I prefer this set over yet another clone.  I would have thought they would have moved on to the Fett's by now.  At least they did make Hammerhead.  Also, the Hasbro Nodes were a Walmart exclusive early on in the run so they weren't that easy to find.

At this point I have to wonder how the Caps would fare during the regular season if their schedule was more like baseball.  Meaning that they play a three games series with the same team.  For yet another year where the Caps can be the top seed and just stink in a playoff series, I just wonder if they could win consistently during the regular season if they played the same team in small series.  It just seems the opposing team can figure them out, but they can't figure out the opposing team for the long haul.

Well the Doctor is back. What did you think of the first episode? Nice shots if Utah there. Freaky looking alien huh?

Awesome episode.  I'm guessing this may have been the set up for the whole season.  Nice little cliffhanger...I wish they had played the first two episodes back to back.

I think you may be too kind to Caps assuming they won't self destruct again before reaching the finals.

I am so far behind on Lego right now.  I really have to go through the collection to see what I'm missing.  I haven't even picked up the last UCS set or two.  I hope this SDS doesn't come out for a while.

I'm just hoping that the Caps can actually win a series as the one seed this time around.

Two helmets would sure be better than another exclusive stand.  I figured they must have a bunch coming out soon since there are only a handful of preorders that have yet to be released.

Watto's Junk Yard / Re: Who Wants to Lose Weight?
« on: March 16, 2011, 07:05 AM »
I'm 5'7", 165lbs at the moment.

Might not seem like much, but I have felt "fat" since I eclipsed 150lbs about 6-7 years ago.  In high school, I weighed about 175 lbs and felt really fat.  I dropped 35lbs in one summer before college, which was really hard but at age 18 that's a lot easier to do than it is now that I'm in my 30s.

The past 18 months, I've been going to the gym about twice a week, I lift for about 30 minutes then do a 3 mile run in about 23.5 minutes.  I started out at 170lbs when I started back in the gym routine, and really haven't lost that much weight because that really hasn't been my goal, but am lifting a lot more weight than I ever could and a lot stronger.

However, I've still got a bit of a gut... I blame my eating habits.  I love fast food (though it's usually roast beef or grilled chicken sandwiches), and I have this awful habit of eating chips at night right before bedtime.  I can easily eat half a bag of Doritos 3-4 nights a week - if not for that, I think I'd be able to drop down to 150 pretty easily, or even down to 140 if I wanted to.  At one time I dropped down to 125 in college, when I was running 5 miles at a time several times per week.  But I know I can't do that anymore, I just don't have the time.  Plus it seems like every couple months I am getting sick with something that sets me back and I miss a week at the gym... heck, I've had two bouts with pneumonia since November - it really makes it harder to run like I was and I've actually cut back to 2 miles at a time most days now because I just can't handle more at the pace I like to run.

Anyways, my goal is by June to be down to 150 lbs.  If I don't get there I won't be too upset, but I should get close... I have always believed that the way is to eat less (and better), but stay active.

As you probably already know, fast food is a killer, even the "healthier" items.  Check out the nutrition on Arby's page for their roast beef and deli sandwiches.  As I recall, they weren't too much different than a Big Mac.  As for the chips, part of that is the eating before you go to sleep.  One thing you might want to look for is the fat free or nearly fat free versions.  They can be a bit hard to find depending on the grocery store.  They have Ruffles, Lays, Doritos and Tostidos.  The Ruffles and Lays are fat free, I can't remember if the other ones are completely fat free or were 1 gram of fat per serving.  They actually very close in flavor to the full fat versions.  Just look for bags that are white on the bottom and light blue on the top.

The "off switch" is the cooling water.  You can't just stop a nuclear reaction.  This could be much, much worse.  At this point, there has not been a failure of the reactor containment.  Many of the building have been destroyed, but I don't think you build to withstand a 9.0 earthquake.
