I am up to 5.... been hunting for these like a dog. To me it's just a slightly dirty VOTC Stormtrooper and works well for Endor scenes.
:)
-
So far I have 5 as well. I think my limit may be 10 but Im not sure yet.
-
I'm at 6. Definitely hunting for more, will probably stop at 13 or 14.
-
I only have 1, and I'm stopping there.
-
:'( none, but i'll be taking any donations. ;D
-
I currently only have one. However, I want a total of eight, four of which I will customize into Stormtroopers by removing the dirt with "Goof off".
-
Does that good off stuff really work? Does it eat the plastic at all, or take away from the shiny plastic finish?
:)
-
(http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b82/Flacksguy/0755b358.jpg)
The Stormtrooper on the left is the VOTC Stormtrooper, and the two in the middle are Sandtroopers with their dirt removed with "Goof off". The one on the right is, obviously, the Sandtrooper without his dirt removed.
I think they look really good.
-
I think I have 5 total now.
On the goof off topic - I've never tried that stuff but I hear good things. I know that CHEWIE has used some sort of spray paint to make dirty troopers look white. I'm sure he'll show us an image when he hits this thread again.
-
0 here, the wave hasn't seemed to hit town yet - or if it has, I've missed it totally. I don't think so though, as the pegs are nice and toasty with the Coruscant and H & V figures. I'd like to pick up a few of these as well, to use as Stormtroopers. I might even have to try the method above for cleaning them up, although I've never altered any figures before. I've got a couple of Evolutions and POTJ sandtroopers, so I'd rather have more VOTC style Stormies than more Sandtroopers - hopefully things will show up soon, I'm really looking forward to this wave.
-
I do not have one either. I did see a ripped up package of one on the floor at Walmart.
-
0 as well for me so far, but as of yesterday, I finally have the rest of the wave. I don't know how many I would get if I actually found a couple of pegs full of sandtroopers.
-
I have 1 MOSC for myself, and 1 to sell if I ever get paid for it.

First off, Jedi Shawn that does look really good. I might have to try that... where can I buy goof-off?
As for the spray paint that Brent mentioned, I used a brand by Krylon called H2O satin white latex on a couple of the Evolutions Sandtroopers.

I only have one. I am hoping for a few, mostly to turn into stormies but no luck. All I see is ****** Solo
-
None... just like my
VTSC Biker Scouts (period), Snowtroopers, Commtech or better Stormtroopers...
My "army" sucks. :( Sometime I need to get like $15 or something to spend, and get a couple Commtech Stormtropers and a Snowtrooper or something at least. It's mind-numbingly lame; death by POTF2.
But if I see any of these, I'm grabbing them. Our Wal Mart just restocked with, mysteriously, old UGHs (I got a Fett though:)) and Coruscant Wave figures. Again. No Tatooine Wave, no Heroes and Villains (but maybe that's a good thing), no VTSC. Just the same first four waves of freakin' basic figures.
I'm hopefully going out of town soon though... maybe I'll get lucky enough to find one of these?
...or maybe all they'll have are Anakins, Bib Fortunas, Vaders, and Gummy Mundis. Or, they'll be full of H&V crud, like Anakins and Vaders! Yaaaaaay.
I have considered trying to do some paint removing on troopers once I get some, though; I have two evolutions Sandtroopers, currently I've got one sitting and pretending to be a normal stormtrooper with my ROTJ figures. Chances are, if I get one of these Sandtroopers, I'll be making him into a normal stormtrooper; if I get two I might keep one as a Sandtrooper though.
-

I've seen ONE Solo, and that is the only sign of this wave. I'd really like to pick up close to 30 of these puppies and turn 20 or so into pain white troopers, but that doesn't appear as if it will happen.
-
Just one so far. I don't know that I'm gonna go crazy on this one. Because when I tally up the POTJ Sandtroopers, the Sandtrooper 4-pack and all of the Evolutions Sandtroopers I have...it's a lot!
I'll probably get at least 4 more. I actually like the accessories a lot. But the pike does NOT fit well in this Sandy's hand. And then there's also the matter of what to do with the thermal detonator when this Sandtrooper has the backpack on. I'm kind of stashing it in one of the voids in the backpack, but then the backpack doesn't fit as flush as it should against the armor. Oh well.
-
I have 4 and I thought that's all I wanted but if I see more I will not hesitate to pick it up.
-
Big goose egg on the Sandtrooper so far... Disappointed to, but so far the H&V have a chokehold on the pegs around Pittsburgh so Tatooine is barely making it out at a trickle if at all.
-
I have ONE carded Sandtrooper. Still looking for a dozen or so openers - and it isn't looking good.

I'm shocked! You usually have a countertop or so of troops!
Kevin
-
Yeah, I'm wondering if most of them hit stores while I was out of the country - and army builders are hotter and hotter these days with collectors (and scalpers) so it's not a suprise that they're bought up more quickly now. Nevermind that it's essentially a VOTC Stormy for $6.63
Kevin, make sure you go sign up for Fantasy Football before those roster spots lock up.
-
I have one, and that's all I'll need. I was never big on Sandtroopers, and I have a bunch of Hasbro's previous versions, so I don't see the point in going nuts on this one.
More for those who want them.
-

They're a different SKU number, so the H&V wave isn't holding things up. This is a pretty common misconception. Look at The Saga Collection basic figures from the battle waves as something akin to Collection 1 from past lines, and the H&V and Greatest Battle waves as something akin to Collection 2. How can you tell this? Go to a Target store with the newer model of scanner. The new scanner not only gives you a price, but also the SKU and stock info. The H&V wave figures have a different SKU from the rest of the line.
The only thing that may be holding regular TSC figures from getting on the pegs is real estate. If the pegs are full of the H&V wave, then the directive the employees have is to not put new stock out until old stock has been cleared out. But the inventory of new TSC figures may actually be in stock at that store.
-
Have not seen any Tatooine yet.
-
None, this wave has not hit Jersey yet.
-
None, this wave has not hit Jersey yet.
Au contraire, mon frere! They're in Jersey.
-
Found another today. At three. Three more to go. Vader and Hammerhead are already pegwarming my WM, TRU and Target. There were six of each tonight at WM.
-
They're a different SKU number, so the H&V wave isn't holding things up.
Riiight, and like I said, the H&V are keeping the figures from hitting the pegs, Nick... Whether you want to interpret what I said as it being an order-issue or "real-estate" as you called it, that I believe is your faux pau, not mine... I'm well aware they're different SKU #'s though, so that didn't escape my attention... THe fact remains though, they're not hitting the pegs in anything but a trickle (at least near me) though, and it's not for any reason but the H&V as I stated...
However, it may surprise you to know that different SKU's don't mean that purchasers aren't differentiating for the retailers. It's not uncommon. They maybe just are refocusing their puchases on what they think the hotter collection is (ala Col. 1 & Col. 2 have a habit of doing because one is expected to appeal more to who the purchaser(s) feel are the market). Target's trying to differentiate the two clearly with unique display racks on the shelves however Wal-Mart, K-Mart, and TRU are not that I noticed, so it is possible that one SKU is now getting the shaft in favor of the other. A purchaser may have replaced one for the other completely, or orders substantially less of one in favor of the other... So at the end of the day, visually around here, I can safely say the H&V are what's keeping Tatooine Wave from hitting in any quantity be it for one reason or the other.
-
CHEWIE, I found "Goof off" at Home Depot near the paint area.
-
I have ONE carded Sandtrooper. Still looking for a dozen or so openers - and it isn't looking good.
Well it's not because I snagged them that is for sure. I've found all of 1 at a store.
So I have 1. I have 6 Evo troopers, so for my 12 man squad I need 5 more Saga Sandies.
-
The biggest reason I'm not panicking about these guys is the glut of Evo Sandtroopers that I already have. But I'd still like to get a large fist-full of these guys. In some ways they look even nicer than the evolutions ones.
-
I have two thanks to a local Tatooine King- Jedimoses is the man for finding the sandy figures in Minnesota ;)
-
In some ways they look even nicer than the evolutions ones.
For me, that's due to the leg stance. The evolutions are nice, but they are too far apart. The VOTC/New Sandtrooper stance looks more natural.
Another plus for me is the black, grunt, ranking. Now all my Sergeants and Lieutenants will have somebody to boss around.
-
Pick up some more Sandies over the last few days bringing my total to 9.
-
One. Could have gotten two, but I passed on one for Commander Cody... boy was that a dumb decision. :-[
-
I picked up 2 more the other day, my total is up to 6 (I really hope I don't see anymore, well maybe).
-
I have one. I have two Evo Sandtroopers, so at least he's not lonely. I hope to get 6 of the Yellow Clone Trooper Evolution Sets, and then another 3 SAGA Sandies to bring my eventual total to 12. Well, depending on how many I may need for the SAGA AT-AT I hope to get, maybe another 6 Saga Sandtroopers after that. I think Sand Troopers look way better than Storm Troopers.
-
Having run into Hammerhead, R5 and Han about six times independently, I have yet to see any Sandtroopers. Hopefully they'll start to sit around a little longer as the wave starts to saturate.
-
Two now. I finally found my first case of Tatooine tonight. :)
-
Two now. I finally found my first case of Tatooine tonight. :)
Whoo hooo get up on a table and dance!
:)
-
please, don't. ;)
I still havn't even found the most basic tattoine wave, let alone Sandtroopers. :'(
-
I found three this weekend at a little tiny wal-mart in a small town I was driving through in Texas.
So I have one carded, 3 loose.
Exciting.
-
Up to 10.
-
Today, I went to a Walmart after celebrating Father's Day that was on the way home... and BINGO. Scored 10 Sandtroopers (they had at least 5 more) - best selection of figures I've seen anywhere since the ROTS line was out.
I also bought some Goof-Off and am going to see how much I can use that to get these to be like VOTC Stormies like Jedishawn suggested.
:)
-
Scored 1 today at a local KB.
KB is having a buy 2 get 1 free on all basic Star Wars figures so I scored 4 Hem Dazons,3 Garindans, a Firespeeder Pilot (brings me up to 4 now), and the Sandtrooper (only 1 they had) all for $44.98 :D
Now all I need is 4 (or more ;) ) R5-D4s, Momaw Nadon, and about 5 more Sandtroopers :)
BTW, if anyone wants a ton of red holos, visit my Swap Shop ;)
-
Still at zero... Tat's still at a trickle at best, so I'll catch a Momaw or Garindan here and there, or Han/Vader, but everything else is generally long gone. Sandtroopers especially, unfortunately.
-
I haven't even seen the Tatooine wave yet. :'( I really want that Hem.
-
I guess I am at 15 now... sounds kind of high, but with how many toy runs I've been on, I've overpaid due to gas. I guess I do want a few more, and like having all those cool Sandtrooper staff things.
I tried the Goof-Off method last night... it does seem to work some, but it's hard to get the dirt out of the holes on the wrist armor... very hard. Also it removes the black paint so I'll have to retouch that.
:)
-
I was a total geek and divided my Sandtroopers up into squads to figure out what my limit will be. As it stands, if I get 4 more Saga Sandtroopers, that will put me at 4 squads/1 platoon. Each squad will consist of 6 black Sandies, 1 gray, 1 white and 1 orange. I also have enough Sandtroopers that I have not opened yet from Evolutions and POTJ to make an additional squad if I painted some of the shoulders black.
After that, I may get one or two to take the paint off to make them regular Stormies.
-
I finished my search of these over the weekend and am happy with 6.
-
I have just 1 loose one so far.
Including the Saga Sandtrooper, I have almost a dozen different Sandtroopers now, so I think I can stop with just one of this kind.
-

Sure you can... :)
Remember, this is the best sandtrooper. Super articulated stormtrooper goodness. Throw the others away, and get more of these! ;)
-
Found number 11 this afternoon.
-
22! Whoo Hoo!
Several came in the mail today as payment for some commissions I'm working on, and two are going to a friend as a surprise gift.
The rest, I am keeping. Probably won't get any more, but maybe I will since this is the easiest way for me to build my VOTC Stormie ranks. That goof-off stuff does work!
:)
-
Got my first one today. They had two, but I didn't want to be greedy, so I left one for a fellow collector to pick up. ;D
-
Up to 30 now.
:)
-
I have six sandtroopers as of today. I just opened my first one as I'm starting to open my Tatooine wave. The first one I opened has a problem with his right hand - it is filled in with the black pastic. Is this common for all the troopers or did I just get a production error? It kind of stinks because he can't hold both of his weapons. My other five troopers are at home so I'll have to open them and check it out.
-
I'd really like to get at least 6, though 10 would be prefered. That's my goal number for pretty much all troopers. None yet though. :'(
-
That is really odd Brent... perhaps you could switch his right hand out with a Clone's hand? Or make some sort of custom out of this, don't know...
:)
-
I'm stuck on 3 loose, 1 carded - can't find them for the life of me.
-
Up to 30 now.
:)
:o
My preview wookiee army could smoke 'em though. All your troops would be arm-less.
-
I bought the only one I ever saw :'( but would like 5 more eventually :)
-
Up to 30 now.

:o
My preview wookiee army could smoke 'em though. All your troops would be arm-less.
I guess I'll have to clone my clones to try and catch up with your Wookiee Army. How many of those do you have now? Isn't it close to 100?
:)

Hell by the time you pay for shipping (unless you order lots and lots of them) that's about the same price as the VOTC stormtrooper.
I'd like to find another two dozen of these, but not for more than 7 bucks each.
-
Yeah, yikes on the price.
I got another tonight. One lone one at WM... Had the rest of the wave save for Hem Dazon, he seems to be the hot alien out of the wave... I'm shocked he'd sell better than say Garindan. I mean, that's a good figure too so I dunno.
Sandtroopers are definitely in short supply though despite my seeing them from time to time. I'd buy a good many more too Rob, especially with the thought I may be able to clean up a number of them.
-
I'm at a measly 4 now. I found another case tonight, I've still only seen these guys twice.
-
Found five today between two stores, funny thing is, all five had a Vader holo. :P
That brings my total to 16. Two I'm going to try to convert to clean, regular Stormtroopers. I think 14 is going to be my Saga Sandtrooper limit.
-
Still haven't found a damn Sandie...I haven't seen any Tatooine wave either.
-
I found the jackpot today - went on a 3 hour run and came home with 7 Sandtroopers - bringing my loose total to 10.
-
Thats an awesome run Rob.
-
Yeah, I was out for 3 or 4 hours - went to a dozen or so stores, and found nothing until the very end.
One wal-mart had 1, one Wal-mart had 5, and one TRU had 1.
This was also the first time I've found a non-exclusive item that I was looking for at TRU in probably 2 years.
-
Great haul Rob!
:)
-
Thanks. :)
I could use 5 or 10 more, but now at least I don't feel like I'm behind by a mile.
-
I'm up to 20 now. 2 have been converted to standard troopers and I'll probably convert 2 or 3 more.
-
I just hit the 5 mark with 2 more for trade.
I may pick up a few more but I want to see that Tarkin/Stormtooper EU 2 pack first before I commit too much more to this paticular figure.
If that set is a cool as it might be I might have a lot of imperial officer customs.......
-
I've gotten 3. I'm not too impressed with this figure. They're using that damned cheap, gummy plastic again. The backpack won't stay on; the detonator won't stay on. The legs and torso joints are kind of wonky. Weak figure.
-
I found two more today bringing me to 12.
I've noticed that the second assortment of the Tatooine wave is shipping, and instead of there being 2 sandies in the cases now, there's only one. Our long lost friend the snowtrooper is being packed in this case, along with Cody.
Ook - I guess you can hate this figure. But it's a VOTC stormie for $6 and change. The gun isn't any different than the VOTC one. I guess I'm not sympathetic to your situation because my backpacks and thermal detonators do not fall off. And the "torso and legs being wonky," well, it's the VOTC torso and legs. I'll gladly reimburse you your cost and shipping for the 3 figs if you want to unload them. Lemme know.
-
Wow Ook, I gotta say I love this one... They are using a weak plastic on the backpack and detonator however I feel the plastic's not so much the issue as a smal "ridge" one the tab would've been ideal to "snap" the items in place and have them still be removable while being held on sturdily... It's a design flaw over the plastic.
If I was gonna gripe on the plastic used I'd have thought the pike would be a rubber band... Ironically though Hasbro seems to be learning to use rigid (or more rigid) plastics on things like staffs. This, Sun Fac's... They've improved in that regard and I was shocked to see that. I figured they'd still pull an Amanaman with staff accessories.
Anyway though I like it... I've loved the VOTC Stormtrooper since its unveiling though so I'm just giddy for this one. I'd take a lot more but unfortunately I haven't seen any lately.
Repacking the Snowtrooper? Fabulous idea Hasbro... not enough of those around and wow what a quality figure too. ::)
-
6 making total of 12 Sandtroopers (the other 6 being Evolutions)
-
Repacking the Snowtrooper? Fabulous idea Hasbro... not enough of those around and wow what a quality figure too. ::)
Yup, I found 2 Tatooine Wave cases on one of those glorious red Target carts at 8 AM, hatched them both open with my car key, only to find that the Sandie is now packed 1 per case, rather than 2 like it used to be, all in favor of a snowtrooper.
Thought I had found 4 sandies, turned out to be 2.
:-\
-
Most of my Target stores have Snowtroopers as it is... God that's annoying.
-
That snowtrooper isn't a straight up repack - they put more normally posed legs on him - so he's not in that crappy half-running position that the Saga one was in.
It's a significant improvement IMO.

Okay, well, it's still got a list of knocks longer than the list of tragedies on my fantasy baseball team:
1. Non ball jointed shoulders
2. Unarticulated elbows
3. Unarticulated wrists
4. Unarticulated knees
5. Unarticulated ankles
6 total points of articulation basically makes this figure a statue.
-
That's true. Hopefully the rumors about the VTSC one will be true.
-
That's true. Hopefully the rumors about the VTSC one will be true.
They should be, and it'll be just as popular as the VOTC stormie and VTSC scout.
For the life of me, it makes no ******* sense to give a figure like Garindan 12 points of articulation with ball jointed shoulders, but in the same year reissue a figure like the Snowtrooper, kit bash it with a previous snowtrooper, and still give this trooper who was involved in perhaps the biggest ground battle of the original trilogy just 6 points of articulation, and still totally unable to hold his weapon in a firing pose. And that was Hasbro's 4th attempt at this figure!
I don't get it.
-

In one of the recent Q&A's Hasbro sort-of addressed this. They basically said that they have to balance the amount of articulation they can give a certain wave...based on cost.
Here's the response they gave:
"** For the most part, its much more expensive to produce figures with the ball joints. Every figure we do is a balaning act between articulation, deco, accessories and the overall complexion of the wave. We add articulation where we can afford it and where it makes the most sense for each figure, but ball joints are not going to become the standard on Star Wars for the reasons stated."
-
Yeah I saw that, but that's still not an explanation for why Garindan and Hem Dazon get ball joints and 12 points of articulation, and a snowtrooper army builder is given the unarticulated statue status.
-
Sure it is. They say that they're absorbing the extra costs for ball joints and the like on certain figures by not doing so on others.
Why would they spend a bunch on Snowtroopers when they're working on a SA version. They're just trying to milk the one they have for whatever they can before it becomes utterly obsolete.
-
i still have yet to see this figure on the shelf at any store at all. nothing at my tru, walmart, kmart, target or any where else. but hope fully i'll be able to pick a few up sooner or later!

You're right. I wonder if we could get decent articulation on ALL new figures if Hasbro ditched the holos and stands - obviously they add cost.
-
The holos and stands probably aren't that expensive in the long run - because they a) have no moving parts and b) are one shot deals. They sculpt the stand once, sculpt each holograph once, and then just spit lots of them out. Creating all the tooling for individual elbows and shoulders and knees on individual figures costs a lot more in the long run than a few cheapo pack-ins.
-
I don't get it.
I do. $$$
I'm sure the Snowtrooper was on the short list for VTSC and it seems like the order of the year was one army builder in every wave. Sure, the could have given us a good Hoth rebel trooper, but why make a new sculpt when you can kit bash and sell less for more. ;)
I chose not to army build with this one hopping we'd get a better one down the line. For once, it looks like a gamble is going to pay off.
-
Let's see- I have 3 Saga sandtroopers, 1 of which I swapped bodies with the orange-pauldroned Evolutions version for a little dirt variety, one I stripped of his accessories to make the dirty Stormie in the back of the group that confronted Garindan, and one that remained the same. I also have 2 variant grey Evolutions versions: one atop the dewback and the other in the sand dunes looking for the droids. Lastly I have one other orange Evolutions version at the front of the group talking to Garindan. As far as I can tell, there were little to no orange pauldroned versions out in the dunes.

I did see a lot more of them in Mos Eisley, but I know of at least one in the dunes:

The thing about Hasbro's answer that doesn't register as satisfactory to me is that yes their ball-jointed style costs more to produce however it's like damn near everything else in life where if it's costing you more there's usually a cheaper way of doing things.
I'm all for articulation in a general sense, obviously... I think Hasbro's ball/socket articulation is without a doubt among the tops in this scale, hand's down, but it's a process of injection molding that costs more during production, blah blah blah... It's great on army builders though and characters you'll sell assloads of because you're going to diminish all the fixed costs to practically nill over time as you sell more and more units. Sure you'll still be sinking $ into production of the figure, but your mold toolings will cost (in theory) $0 eventually as you'll have earned enough off the toy to offset that fixed total.
Now, my opinion is that if your ball/socket joint is costlier during production... drop it for the less costly style. I personally would like a straight hinged knee joint with a pin holding it in place over NO knee joint... Or how about going the route other companies chose by having a hinged knee where the lower leg simply "pops" into a groove/peg built into the figure's upper thigh? Fairly well conceiled, sturdy if properly designed, incredibly cheap to produce by comparison...
I'm ok with angle-cut elbow joints too... They work for me on most figures. Save the ball/sockets for the figures you're gonna do well on like army builders and main characters, but don't cut articulation all together on figures you CAN do better on... Just cut the style of articulation.
Did Garindan need ball/socket shoulders? No... Give him straight shoulders and ball/socket knees then. Did he need his boots to swivel? Hell no. Give him hinged knees instead maybe.
Does he need ANY of that articulation? Say what you want, but I believe he does. He's a $7 freaking action figure... He should be poseable if all he did was walk in a pile of **** for a split second of screentime.
As far as stands and holographs, I personally have to disagree that they're a minor cost Rob, but that's just my POV. That's 12 mold toolings just for the holo's... The stands require their own plus the decoration (minor point on the deco but it is sort of a particular paint ap and a cost). For my money, that's better put into the toy, as the stand and miniature holograph mean jack to me... :-\
Anyway, I think Hasbro can do a tad better... When we have a company slapping ankle joints on a figure like Sora Bulq, or Bacara, and they're points of articulation you can't even USE, let alone the costs involved (supposedly) in them being there in the first place... Well I just know by that, that Hasbro's capable of better for collectors.
Personally, while I know the molding process for the ball/socket joint is costlier, I don't believe it's as costly as they let on... That's me though. I've always felt that Hasbro plays the "poor us" game at times when it came to how they portray their efforts with the line... When they're the ones making the money and we're the ones spending though, I really don't look highly upon their POV and feel they can do better by me, and my wallet.
-
"As far as stands and holographs, I personally have to disagree that they're a minor cost Rob, but that's just my POV. That's 12 mold toolings just for the holo's... "
It's possible, I'm not an expert - I just look at it like this, you pay someone to make 12 low-quality sculpts (comparatively not that expensive) and then you just have to make a single mold of each. No moving parts, no assembly, no paint, no anything. It's a one time cast - and the tooling can't be all that big a deal on just one piece. Hell, one of our maquette sculptors could make those at work in a day or two from scratch if he had the right kind of plastic to inject into a mold.
-
I finally picked up two of these at Wally world last weekend. I found two more at Kohls last night but I refuse to pay $9.99 retail for these. You could even see the $7.99 sticker underneath so you know they just raised the price on these recently.
-
Five now. Scored two of those this morning. The thing that I'm really liking about these is the ball jointed head. I can pop the heads and swap the pauldrons from the Evolutions Sandtroopers with these Sandtroopers. It makes the ranks look a little more diverse.

I agree Rob on your view of it... 12 sculpts spread over the line, but it's still 12 molds that impacted the costs of figures ultimately... They're still production items and all is what I'm saying, so the molds are higher-cost stainless steel machined molds, whereas I'd guess your maquette sculptors are working with something faster and for smaller scale (akin to resin, right?)... It's a cost is all I meant by my point though, and one I don't feel is a necessity when the cost can be pushed into the toy's themselves. Same for stands IMO. I prefer the figure or figure-centric accessories getting the investment.
I'm sure it cost less to make the 12 molds for the minis than to make a single new SA figure though if there were to be a comparison... I just wonder what the costs of the pack-ins would have been like had they been spread across figures... Like ankle joints on Cody, or knee joints on Veers maybe... That was more my point I guess.
-
I'm only speculating. It also seems to me that every time they put a new pack-in into the line, that's when the price of a figure jumps a dollar or more. Commtech Chips, These Holograms, Flashback cards... etc... Which makes me wonder if the price increases are to offset the costs of making the pack-ins, or if the pack-ins are used as an inexpensive way to legitimize raising the price.
I'm guessing the second.

Does anyone have the ranks that correlate with the pauldron colors handy?
I'm under the impression that the orange is the highest ranked, and the black the lowest, with white and grey somewhere in between?
???

I read orange is "squad leader", white sergeant, black, as you say, is the low man. No idea about gray.
Also, there's a page here (http://www.theforce.net/SWTC/insignia/stormtrooper.html).
-
The only source to really delve into it... was the Vis. Dictionary for the OT, Matt. It sort of tries too hard to associate specific rank to color though and of course doesn't go beyond the films.
The way I view it...
-Orange (In the Vis. Dic says it's Lt.) is any rank of Officer, from 1st Lt.'s on up.
-White (in the VD is Sgt.) is the varying levels of non-coms.
-Black is the grunts... Privates, Corporals, etc.
-Grey (debateable... Shots from the film clearly show that there is a pauldron that is NOT white, but not black by any means. It seems it's a very very light grey to me, but it's not white by a longshot simply by comparison of the trooper's armor) is what I've simply labeled as "specialist". Be it a comm specialist, engineer, etc.
-Yellow from Dark Forces2: Jedi Knight series is a heavy weapons specialist.
Of course though white, black, and orange are the only definites, and also there are troopers seen without any pauldron though it seems they're performing stunts.
I personally feel the pauldrons are a dumbed down method of identification for in the field or in civilian situations where average joes may need to speak to someone.
-
Went to Target today to get some snacks before going to the movies and stumbled across one more.
Which makes 11.
-
I picked up my first three this weekend, so I have...3. Happy to find some though - the Tatooine/Mos Eisley wave has shown up twice at our local WM now, and sold out in a matter of a day or two.
-
Came across 4 more at Target this morning bringing me to 17.
Keep 'em coming.
(15 from Target, 1 from Walmart, 1 from KB total)
-
Must be a regional distribution thing... of my 12 (one carded) 10 were from Wal Marts, 1 from Target, and 1 from TRU.
-
I got 3 from buddies locally yesterday. I could've gotten as many as 5 more I think but I passed to show a little self control. Great figure though so it was tough. I doubt I have that kind of restraint in the future. ;)

Hey man, a VOTC stormie for $7. Go to town. No restraint necessary.
:)

I think it's funny that you've bought almost all of your Sandtroopers at Target. It must be their way of payback for you boycotting their $13 clones. :P
-
Thank God for Northern Texas...while passing through last week, I scored one.
Total to date: 1.

Ha ha, yup. "We're gettin' Dressel's money one way or the other!!"
:)
-
I got two more tonight... Argh I gotta be saving here but they're like crack.
-
I'm currently up to 22.
-
Wow, I didn't think this would be figure that people would army build into the double digits! I only have a measly 5.
-
I'm currently up to 22.
Weren't you gonna stop at 10?
-
I stopped at 5 loose Sand Stormies. Once I switched the pauldrons around, I didn't have much cause for any more.
I'm nearing 20 VTSC Biker Scouts though...can't help myself...must seek help...
-DD
-
Part of me is compelled to buy the Sandtrooper simply because he's a figure I searched for desperately at a higher price, and with more cool **** too.
I've got a nice collection of Imperial bombs now. And these sticks are useful for something... I think.
Hasbro's got a winner with this one. This year's been tough with army building. Very costly. The Scout doesn't help my situation either DD, though I will say I've gotten to about a 25 Scout trooper limit I think... Part of me may reneg on that statement if I see them cheap at some point, but for now I have a hefty scout/recon platoon to form up with my infantry.
-
Sad thing, JJ, my buddy Mike just called me up...and he found 6 more that he wants to split with me. That'll put me at 21. I'm gaining on you. ;D
Of course, your infantry will be a little larger, since I'll end up customizing a few of those... :P
-DD
-
I'm up to a whopping 5 right now, all of mine have been found at Wal-Mart. I've bought the only five I've seen so far. I really hoped to be into the 20s by now... :-\
-
Scored another 4 this morning to bring me to a total of 9. I think maybe 3 more and I'll stop.
-

Dont' forget to check your mail this week. ;)
:)
-
Keep your eyes open at TRU Ryan, they're getting this wave in bulk from what I've gathered from a friend. Lots were there recently at all the ones I visit locally it would seem.
-
I have found that I have about 4 extra. I've consider doing the Goof Off thing of taking the dirt off, but I figure I'll just dish to buddies....
-
I'm currently up to 22.
Weren't you gonna stop at 10?
I was until I saw how easy it was to convert them to regular stormies. 14 are remaining Sandtroopers to round out two squads and everything above that is being converted.
-
I am up to 8 with this badboy. The magical number for me is 20. :)
-
I have 8, I thought I was done at 4, but that did not go so well. I could have 10, but I left a couple on the pegs today (cringe).
-
God, I wish I could find these! If I find 'em they'll be the first Stormies I've got...except one EVo Sandtrooper.
-
I finally picked one up at Target on Monday, so that brings my grand total up to: 1.
-
I picked up two more today and with a pending trade, that will bring me to 25. I traveled today and found some at 5 of the 6 stores I stopped at. Aside from the 2 I picked up from one store, I left the rest. I think I reached my limit.
-
I'm building up a small army of these for a large custom project I'm doing. I think I have around twenty or so. Now I'm only picking them up if the paint aps. are perfect.
Fritzkrieg
-
I went out today to pick up a pair of Skirmish at the Senate packs on clearance, and found another one.
12 loose.
-
1, for me.
-
I was until I saw how easy it was to convert them to regular stormies. 14 are remaining Sandtroopers to round out two squads and everything above that is being converted.
Are you removing the dirt from them? If so how?
-
Goof off Ray. It removes the brown paint they used on the Sandie. ;D
-

Sweet! Guess what I'm buying tomorrow ;D. It'll be nice to add some VOTC Stormies to my army without shelling out $20 bucks a pop. Thanks Robb!

Glad I could help. ;D
-
With the help of our resident wookiee, I'm now up to eight loose. At least I have a small squad now.
-
I am actually beginning to see these and the VOTC Bikers sit. Not many, one here and there but I have left at least a dozen of each on pegs in the past 10 days. Im holding off at ten.
-
Grand total as of now, 2.
-
An even dozen now. That's it for me. The next Sandtrooper I buy should have ball jointed hips and a Dewback packaged with him.
-
7 loose now, and three carded waiting to be set free eventually!
-
I might buy a couple more to make regular troops, too. Glad to hear about the Goof Off tip!
-
I'm customizing-impaired and too lazy to read the rest of the thread, so would someone mind filling me in on what Goof Off is, how much it usually costs, and where I can get a small amount? Also, would this Goof Off work for the ROTS 41 Clone in terms of getting the brown damage off him too?
Um, yeah, I have 2 and was going to make one a clean Stormtrooper just for ***** and giggles. ;D
-
Someone said you can get it at Home Depot. I imagine it would be a tub with a pound or two but I have not made it that way yet. No mention of price in the thread.
-

I just picked some up over the weekend and it was $5 and some change. It's not a tub but rather a liquid that comes in a spray bottle (well the one I bought did). It was bought at Walmart in the hardware section where they keep all the glue.

Is "Goo Gone" the same thing? I ask because I already have a bottle of that (damned CD and DVD label things on the spines and edges), but I don't want to spray it on their and suddenly have my Sandtrooper fall apart. ;D

I tried Goo Gone first. It's definately less effective as Goof-Off. The difference is almost night and day.
-
2 more recruits today, brings me to a legion of 5 ::)
-

Yeah, I gave Goo Gone a shot last night and aside from taking off the dirt on the chestplate, it didn't do a whole lot to the extremities. I'll definitely pick up some Goof Off tomorrow and see how that goes. :)
-
Victory. I finally found two of these awesome figs at a Target tonight...
-
1 more today brings me to 19. I have no intention of limiting myself on this whatsoever considering they function as both sandies, and regular stormies. An SA VOTC figure with dead-on likeness for $7.
Now this is how you do a figure Hasbro!! THIS is how you DO IT!!!
-
I only have three so far. Only found three in a store despite seeing the rest of the Tatooine wave countless times in huge quantities.
I removed the pauldron from one of them, and didn't use the GooGone on it. To me, it can pass as an Endor Stormtrooper. I think the weathering present on the trooper could pass for that you'd find in a forest somewhere, such asn Endor.
I have two for my Tatooine display and want one more for my Endor display. Four army builders is all the space I have.
-
I think the weathering present on the trooper could pass for that you'd find in a forest somewhere, such asn Endor.
That's true, caked and dried mud usually has a tannish color to it...
-
i got 3 just want 1 more
-
I just broke double digits, 11 now!
Now I just want to see the dewback done better. Maybe retro with that cute dino look.
-
5 more tonight brings me to 17, 1 has been customized though, so I've really only got 16. I doubt I'll be able to stop at 24...
-
I found one on Monday so now I have 10. I want at least 2 more so I can do Han and Luke Stormie customs.
-
I have 11 now. I'm really hoping I can find more.
-
23 and i'm not stopping until retail availability makes me dammit!
-
Well, I bought a total of 20 and that's all I'm going to buy..I've seen some 20 odd since and NOT purchased. Of those 20 I originally bought when the wave first hit, My boy has 1 and I have 1; the other 18 went to help out other folks.
-
I've seen every figure from this wave, except for the Sandtrooper. I must be slow on my feet.
-
I found five more Sandtroopers last night bringing me to a total of 21 (And one additional trooper that has been customized.)
I've noticed a few of my troopers have rather loose torso joints, has anyone else noticed this?
-
Yes...I was able to get 2 throgh the forums and one has very loose joints in the knees and hips. I guess he wasn't as battle-ready as the Empire wanted him to be. ;)
I'd be curious to see if the yellow plague affects these new troopers as fast as the older ones.
-
I picked up two more last friday. I think I've got 8 total now.
-
A LOT of these... :) I haven't done a recent headcount but I keep buying them as I see them basically. I've passed on some but not many. I have a friend with a handful (3 I think) he's holding for me and I just got another one tonight... I think I may be up near 20? I'm not sure.
I love it though, it's one of the best of '06 so far IMO. :) I love the removable thermal detonator, the pike, etc... And SA... I love it. I just wish more figures were like this is all. I'll buy more if I see them too, it's too good to pass up.
-
Jesse, I'm with you one this. I can't pass one up if I see it. However, even with that, I'm only up to about 9 now.
-
I gave Jesse a weird bronze 'washed over' back pack version of this...never seen it anywhere else..suspect anomally before variant.
-
I had 10 but I let a local collector friend have one. I'll get a few more down the road Im sure.
-

Yeah you will! I have them packed up and ready to go ;D
I saw about 1/2 a dozen more at a local TRU today- I left them, but it was tempting...
-

Quite a few of my Sandtroopers have the same "bronze" paint on them.
-
on the sandtrooper or the backpack ;)
-
Yes, the back pack. My mistake. ;)
-
I tried the goof off. It sure is an effective paint remover, and I had a really hard time cleaning next to the black without pulling that off too (I had to do some touch up).
I sure hope the eventual re-release of the VOTC stormtrooper does not have some ewok poo on it or some other such nonsense.
-
The dirt's AOK by me because the Sandtroopers, to me, just look like troops that have been out in the field a while... Muck and mud more than sand and stuff. I'm ok with it in that regard so I won't be removing the damage... I figure they'll just go into outdoors dioramas. Field Stormtroopers probably get dirty no matter what planet they're on. ;)
The figure's fantastic though when you think about the value you get... Hasbro really did up the anty on this one. New equipment, a pike you didn't really need, a removable bomb you didn't need... This really is a top-notch figure but Hasbro did a little better for the fans even.
Not often that happens in the line so I'm enjoying it by buying as many of these as I can. Love this figure.
-
Got three more from a trade. I'm at 25.
-
Got 2 at target, I'm at 13.
-
I picked up 4 more. I'm not sure of my total so far. Probably more than 10 but less than 15. I've just been buying them as I see them. I'm sure I'll go back and paint some of them straight white.
-
Scored 4 this morning in Wally World bringing me to 27
-
Got another tonight. Whee. :)
-
I actually traded one away for a DS Gunner, but got another from another trade, so I remain at 25 after dipping to 24 for a day or two. :P
-
2 more, 29 now.
-
My wife found one more of these for me when she went to Target. I still need to count...
-
Found another one of these a couple days ago. I'm now up to 7.
-
I have 13, and that's where I'm stopping. I was aiming for 10 but got carried away.
-
I now have a dozen...I know I said I'd stop at 6, but still...they are so cool...
-
20 is where I'm at and where I usually stop the cloning. With this badboy, it's gonna be difficult.
-
Where did you guys find 20 to 30 of these guys :o I've only seen 4 and bought everyone that I saw. I have some very dedicated scalpers/collectors around here.
-

For me it's been Target. KB really hasn't been all that dreadful lately either. A few at Walmart as well.
-
20 is where I'm at and where I usually stop the cloning. With this badboy, it's gonna be difficult.
Feel free to pass them along ;D
-
I've found them at the 3 biggies... TRU, Target, WM... I've found more at WM, next Target, and a few at TRU here and there though mostly bought for me by friends.
The KB's are all in malls here so I rarely see what they have, but given that EVERY retailer is $6.99 (or thereabouts), KB doesn't look bad to me either... Nor does K-Mart who've kept fairly routine stock usually a wave behind or so (but good for getting stuff you miss) and are charging $6.99 like the rest of the ******** retailers.
I've never found large #'s of Sandtroopers at once but small dribs and drabs, yes.
-
Just received 2 more from trades, at 27 now.
-
Picked another up. I'm at 14 or 15, I can't remember.
-
I just finished opening mine and counting. I'm at 14.
-
I picked up another today. I'm up to 8 now.
-
Another came in from trading. 28 now (about half of which are converted to regular troopers.)
-
I now have enough (2) to say that I have a small squad being lead by EVO Sandtrooper (thanks to Darth_Anton).
-
Got an email these are back in stock at Hasbro.com Habsro Sandtoopers (http://www.hasbrotoyshop.com/ProductsByCategory.htm?CD=121&BR=495&ID=17062&PG=2)
-
Got another today and 2 more on the way... I may even order some if they're available for a bit. Too good to pass.
-
Zip......still! Man, I hate living in Jax as a collector! >:(
-
I picked up my fourth today. I'm not planning on getting anymore.
-
Received my 9th one today in a trade. With 8 loose and 1 carded I think I'll stop there.
-
I'm at 24, soon to be 26 I think, but I'd like more honestly...
With the Evo Sandies, they're a nice little group... Plenty of grunts in there. I use teh greys as "specialists", and 4 officers. With Evo's in there I'm over 30 though and they look quite snazzy.
-
I'm at 23 now, 24 when the one I customized is counted. I need at least one more. Ideally I'd like around a dozen more, putting me at 36, a small platoon worth.
-
16 for me now.
-
Where did you guys find 20 to 30 of these guys :o I've only seen 4 and bought everyone that I saw. I have some very dedicated scalpers/collectors around here.
For me it's been Target and Walmart. You will need a lot of gas, motivation, and sanity.
-
25 for me, I forgot 2...
I got one with 2 right hands that I forgot I had in my customizing bin, and the one on display with my Impy's is still there too... 2 more on the way from a friend locally too. :) I loves me some Imperial Field Stormtroopers (Sandtroopers don't exist dammit).
-

Yeah, I always kind of thought they were general purpose field stormtroopers too. Sure, they may have had some sort of AC unit for their armor in the case of being on Tattoine, but I never thought that was just a "desert only" uniform for them. Episode 3 kind of lends credence to that theory, in my opinion.
I wish some of the stormies on Endor had the pauldron as well, but oh well...
-
The cooling units I figure are in the pack... the packs are so clearly modular and visually give the impression of being dismantled and fitted with other modules for other terrain. Like de-humidifying module for jungle environments, maybe a small shielding module for hazardous environments, etc... The pack is the key I think there.
The reasons I think we see no pauldrons on Endor are that they're not in a "public" setting so they're not considered needed, and that perhaps the environment just doesn't warrant the need to see a clear designation of officers, non-coms, troops, specialists, etc...
I could talk this nerdstuff all day. :)

They could even be fitted with a rebreather like the ANH spacetrooper's backpack. I'd still really like to see that figure made.
I guess the deal with the Endor troops could be that they weren't really troops out on a mission, they were just troops on guard duty with uniformed officers commanding them. I guess that would eliminate the need for distinguishing pauldrons.
-
Received two more in trade bringing me to 30. I'm not converting the latest 2. With my Saga, POTJ and Evo Sandtroopers I was at 54 total which is one and a half companies. Might go for two full companies now so in addition to the 2 I just got, I'd need 16 more. We'll see how long the trading can go.

Are you independently wealthy? ???
-
Someone picked up 4 from a brand new stocking at a WM nearby. Currently all my Sandies (SA and Evolutions) are chilling in a quickly slapped together diorama of a destroyed building they're using as a CP. Gotta love this figure, but the time I spend displaying them was a while to get them in just the right poses.... Till the cat decides to rain terror down upon them.
-
I found one in Wal-Mart today!
I have four set aside for Paul (Paul, if you're reading this we should meet up sometime so I can give you these!) - so this brings me back to 11.
Looking for one more.
-
Yay ME!!!!
That will put me at 26..meaning I either need to get 10 more or get rid of 2....I think I'm going to get a few more.....
-
Cool - I'll give you a call sometime next week and we'll see if there are any lunch hours that work out.
-
I'm up to 32 I believe. I was originally going to try and stop at 24 but I don't see myself stopping any time soon. I think I may try for two full platoons worth of troops.
-
Here's the desert troops...
-
i have one and its carded-i've seen four but i've passed for scorchs, codys, and jangos-cause im a completist. wish i could find more but my targets aint getting any more tsc's at least until; november @ the rate gb's are landing on the pegs in place of them... :-[ :'(
-
I found one. I also had two Evolutions Sandtroopers. I don't have any VOTC or still even commtech/OTC Stormtroopers yet, so I'd removed one of my evolutions Sandtrooper's armor to make him a dirty normal Stormtrooper.
Now I've done that to my TSC Sandtrooper, and put his gear on one of the Evolutions Sandtroopers. I'm thinking about customizing/removing the dirty spots from the TSC Sandtrooper eventually- I have no desire to pay the $20+ one needs to get their hands on a real VOTC Stormtrooper these days. I think I'm going to, long-term, have that guy for my SA stormtrooper, keep the two evolutions stormtroopers as I have them now, and try to get some Commtechs/possibly a POTJ sandtrooper. I have a handful of POTF2s for "dummy" stormtroopers already, and one POTF2 Sandtrooper.
I don't army-build, I militia-build :)
Also, "tacky stuff" is wonderful for keeping the thing attached to the back of his belt in such a way that it doesn't tend to fall out so much, but is still completely removeable. Tacky stuff has been one of my best friends in this hobby...
-
I have about six of those Sandtrooper guys. They look so nifty en masse...
;)
-
Are these things shipping again? I found another one today at Target.
Second this week.
-
Yeah, they are. There's a Endor wave revision case with the Sandtrooper, DS Gunner, At-At driver and Utapau Clonetrooper.
-
Picked up a few more in a trade(up to 20 I think). Gonna convert them into Stormies though.
-
I have 9, and I'm good with 9.
-
Picked up 2 upon Dressel Rebels suggestion.
Kevin
-
4 for me
-
I've been getting a lot of these in trade and have been converting most into regular Stormies. I just counted last night and I have 70, not including the 3 on the way from another trade :-X
If you must know, I'm aiming to replace my comtech stormtroopers, that's why they're still on my trade list.

That's interesting that you brought that up. I was talking with Kevin and I posed this hypothetical. The POTF2 stormie was an improvement over the Vintage stormie, and the Commtech stormie was an improvement over the POTF2, then the VOTC/SAGA 2 was an improvement over the Commtech. Is there any way Hasbro can improve the VOTC/SAGA 2 to make a "leaps and bounds" improvement yet again?
Cuz I think we might be near the pinnacle of Hasbro's ability here.

I agree, though there are four improvements that Hasbro can make in the Stormtrooper:
1) Slightly larger (more proportional) helmet. - That's for you Travis.
2) DS Gunner like holster
3) Ball joint hips
4) Wider grasping hands
That said, even if all of those improvements are made, I they shouldn't make the VOTC Stormtrooper obsolete as long as the same standard is held to that superior sculpt. In fact, none of those improvements should effect the base parts. The thing that worries me though is how the Tin Sandtrooper turned out. A new upper torso was sculpted to accommodate the human head. For some reason, that piece was slightly larger and the shoulder area wound up looking more like a Comm tech trooper shoulder with black space between the armor strap and the shoulder joint.

Saw two of these at Target but easily passed on 'em.

Then you gotta make sure you have the $14 on you next time.

I had money, I even picked up a Chief Chirpa... I passed on 'em cause I di'int want them. I already have the Evo Sandtrooper and that's good (If not better) than the TSC one.

Mmm yeah most collectors pass on a top ten figure of all time which also happens to be an army builder.
I already have the Evo Sandtrooper and that's good (If not better) than the TSC one.
Nope, evo is lacking the waist articulation, making the VOTC stormie (and it's souped up counterpart SAGA2 sandie) superior to the evolutions sculpt.
Even if it weren't for the waist articulation issue, the SAGA2 sandie has both standard stormtrooper and sandtrooper capability, whereas the evo can only be a sandtrooper.
I'd be interested to hear how you think the evo sandie is better than SAGA2. But I'm afraid this is just another one of your attempts to zero in on an all time great that everyone has at a minimum in their Top 20 of all time, and say you pass on it and don't like it just for the attention, even if it's negative attention.

Just to wrap up my thoughts on this subject, from Rebelscum (http://www.rebelscum.com/story/front/Greatest_Hits_2007_Fan_Favorites_Round_1_Results_100933.asp):
Greatest Hits 2007: Fan Favorites Round 1 Results
Posted by Curto on October 20, 2006 at 01:49 PM CST:
In case you missed it:
Because of the continued demand for the basic figures from both consumers and retailers, Hasbro is going to release a line of "Greatest Hits" figures in spring 2007 to run alongside The 30th Anniversary Collection. This will be a series of straight repacks packaged similar to TAC, complete with collector coins and including figures from across the entire modern Star Wars collection. As revealed in today's Force-Cast, the VOTC Stormtrooper ran away with the lead votes, earning more votes than ANY OTHER FIGURE.

Somebody must be mad about everyone dissing the Naboo Soldier. :D
-
I found one more today at a TRU. I think it must have been in one of the revision cases because there weren't many other Tatooine figures there.
I'm up to 33 now. That's 33 more than the Naboo Soldier, and I can't say I'm at all saddened by that.

The Evo and TSC are practically the same sculpt, but the Evo one has an orange pauldron and a cooler gun.
I never said I didn't like the TSC Sandtrooper or the VOTC Stormtrooper, I would pass on both of those because I already have a Sandtrooper (Evo) and I already have two Stormtroopers (CommTech and LucasTrooper).
:P
-
saw 1 at kb but didnt have any money so had to pass :'(
-
I just got my first one last night. I found it at WalMart for $5.
-
I saw a couple at toys r us a while ago, thought to myself...well I've already got the evo so I passed on it and went to go see a movie with my girlfriend instead.
-
I believe I stopped at 3. Quite enough for me considering the several Evos and 3 POTJs I have.
-
2
-
8 now, but I may go for a couple more if they are around for some sales.
-
A rough count last night had me, I think, up near 40 of them... NOt counting Evolutions Troopers which I have about 16 of or so... That's not a bad total I think, and since they double well for troopers in any "field" situation I love 'em.
This is really shaping up to be my favorite of '06 I think... Hasbro done good.
-
I picked up 2 more in the last two days as "free" figure at TRU when buying Endoo wave figures.
-
I got 3 more FREE from TRU when I got my OT tins.....so I have to go count again...
-
I really gotta get my ass out for this sale... :(
-
Found 9 more which puts me at 29. :) For me, this is the only good thing about the revision cases.
-
I got another... Lone guy sitting at the local WM... And I got a chance to see who picks the aisle over and knocks SW crap off the pegs and leaves it on the floor routinely. He's a real charmer this guy, as he raced through the toy aisle with his cart, pushing children out of the way (I kid you not).
And here I thought I'd have a WM where competition would be slim... silly me. ::)
-
Slightly OT, I'm sure I'm late to the party on this one, but as I was cleanng the dirt off another trooper, I took a good look at the mounth and remover the excess paint. Makes a world of difference. Now I have to go back to about 30 converted stormies to remove that paint. :P
-
7 so far but if i find 1 on clearence for cheap i'll buy 1 more
-
9 now. Sometimes I am in the store, and just need to get something star wars.
-
I know I've crossed the 100 mark. I only bought about 30 at retail, the rest were trades. I've converted 70 into regular stormtroopers. With the conformation that the BP stormies will be clean, I may settle on 4 more before I call it quits on these guys.
-
I just keep getting one here, one there... They keep having a single one out on the pegs at my nearest WM, so I go up to get dish soap or whatever I'm sent there for, and I cannot help to get yet another Sandtrooper... I've now lost count. I have 6 sitting here in front of me till I get another plano case... Ugh.
Oh and one I got needs an orthopedic shoe because he's lopsided. Another one I got when they first came out had 2 right hands... Weird. I've bought so many I've gotten two distinct flubs from the factory.
-

Funny you should mention that. I think there's a design flaw with the VOTC body. I'm fairly certain that the left leg is shorter than the right. One was pretty obvious when looking at it, but I've noticed that it's all but impossible for any of the sand or stormtroopers to stand with both feet resting on the Saga2 stand using the left foot peg.
-
I've found there's a certain bowing outward effect on them, but I've not noticed the legs being uneven... Some (many) can definitely having legs that bow outward at the calves though and it makes some of them appear lopsided. I've fixed them with heating/cooling customizing techniques when they've been too noticeable.
-
Thanks Jesse, I'll have to give that a try.
-
Got one less than an hour ago. None on the pegs, so I asked an employee who was surprisingly nice when I asked if it was in the stockroom.
-
i have 4....i find the waist on some are pretty loose though :(
-
Yeah some definitely are looser than others, but I haven't found a Sandietrooper that can't hold his pose yet because of it... That's a positive.
These things just keep showing up and I just can't help buying it seems. I pass here and there, but not often... it's insane at this point, even by my own army building standards. I love this figure though...
I've got so many now that I've gotten a couple error figures...
-

Same here. I'm curious as to what types of errors you've come across?
-
The lopsided leg I've seen on two... One leg noticeably shorter than another is what I mean there.
I've gotten one with 2 right hands now, one with 2 of the same feet... I've gotten some with paint missing on a part of the figure, like half a clean torso, spotless, and one half with spray on it... I got a pauldron that was missing the dull sheen, it was very glossy... Weird stuff.
I think a lot of it is the volume of figures I bought. :)
Also Slothus mentioned this too but I've noticed some figures he sent me have distinctly muddy backpacks while few (if any?) I bought out here have this heavier "mud" applied to the backpack. That's weird unto itself.
-
2 of the 4 i have suffer from "lopsided leg disorder"
-
hehe i now have 5 sandies. walked into the bay today....doubting any saga figures (they usually only have mon motha and palpy. but BOOM one sandie siting all alone on the pegs :).
then i went to sears and found 2 utapau clones one cody and a UGH scorch =0. i bought all but the cody cause i already had them but still.
but yeah bacl to topic. 5 sandies :)
-
These have really shown up a ton again in KB, Target, and TRU and I've been picking up about 2 a day for the last week and a half. I lost count, and have them stashed in too many places, but I'm up to about 50 and I'm not stopping until I can't find them anymore.
These are great for sandtrooper dios and stormtrooper invasion dios of any of the planets involved in the Galactic Civil War.
Speaking of which, did anyone else here pick up the New Essential Guide to Alien Species? The Dresselian bio and pic rocks. What a book. He's holding a freakin' pump shotgun and the article talks about how they repelled the Empire with slug-firing weapons and guerrilla tactics, while rejecting blasters and technology.
-
I found another pair at Target today... I think I have around 20 now. I might turn a few of them into Stormtroopers at this point.
-
have 7 so far probably will get 4 more so i can have 6 stormies and 5 sandies
-
I finally hit 50 of these the other day, and I don't think I'll stop. :)
I've now have more Sandtroopers than any other army builder.
-
with the 2 I got at Christmas, I think I'm up to 14. :)
