Hello there, as an adult collector I suppose most of you are still buying the potf2 figure you have missed in the late 90s. If you pick them at retail, briantoys, ebay, walmart or wherever you choose, this will be the opportunuty to regitrate our purchases and comment the likes on these potf2 depictions of classic characters.
So I was buying at retail during may and july some characters like
the classic stormie with commtech; at at driver which I liked a lot beacuse his combination of different gray shades for boots, suit, etc is superb and more definite than tlc or saga versions.
On previous years I got Thawn, death star trooper and the Jedi Duel tri pack.
I still want to get more potf2 characters and read about your findings.
-
I got a POTF stormtrooper for 25 cents couple months back and this weekend an R2 for 5 cents at yard sales. Lando for 50 cents, had his cape and I found a Dewback Sandtrooper rifle for him in the box he was in.
Also, an X-Wing missing the canopy and 3 laser guns for a buck. That and the landspeeder seem to be most common used finds as far as yard sale and flea markets go.

Good to see that my collection is holding close to its original value. ::)

I picked up another ASP-7 at the Pittsburgh Steel City Con a while back. My army of cheap labor grows.
-
I have some boxes of these stored away. I honestly can't remember which ones I have.
-
Pick today the Death Star Imperial Gunner at Star Wars Universo Expo in CAFAE

I am acquiring some potf2 figures I missed during 1998 and 1999.
Picked up yesterday: Luke Skywalker with blast shield helmet, in the shop of my friend César Plasencia
in Lima Perú.
-
So following this registry, yesterday 1 / 2 / 2012 I bought POTF2 Jawa with Gonk Droid
from the commtech wave.
-
Nabbed myself yet another ASP-7 Droid at the local Toy Show earlier this month. My streak continues but fewer and fewer are found at every new show I've noticed. I'm causing the supply to dry up I guess. :P

Hoe many are you up to?
-
I have no clue J, but I've gotta do a head count... literally, as I bought just an ASP-7 head too at that show in an accessory parts box. the head will look ok in a diorama or something.
-
I've been having good luck on e-bay... I refuse to pay more than $6 shipped though since you never know what you're getting (condition wise).
-
Continuing a streak that I think may go back as far as I have been attending the Pittsburgh Steel City Con, I picked up another ASP-7 Droid.
Why? Why not, I say!
For some reason it's become a joke that at every show, I somehow get one. One year all I got was the face to one, but I counted that as getting one. It was like $.25, which I thought it was funny the guy charged me at all.
This year, mine was sort of free. Part of a bundle I pulled off. :) Hooray for the labor pool of the galaxy! I don't know how many I have, but when I start setting them up like they're doing something, they sure look like they're getting nothing accomplished.

Actually made it to one of those craigslist yard sales that said STAR WARS before anyone else (in the past I've shown up 30 minutes after the sale started to hear "we just sold all that..."). It was all POTF to Saga era stuff.
I got...
Loose:
Luke with Speeder bike
SCout Trooper with speeder bike
Rebel with Radar Laser cannon (i'm doing good on Hoth stuff this year)
Luke Imperial Guard disguise sans cape (i still had that bare neck, btw)
Boba Fett with giant deluxe jetpack minus missile
Han Solo with smuggler flight pack (never owned this one before)
Crowd Control Stormtrooper (missing claw)
Plus
Darth Maul episode 1 deluxe missing lightsaber (never had this one, it's goofy fun)
Jabba the Hutt deluxe minus gong and Bode/Feed (never owned him, either)
MOC Destroy Droid
MOC dirty Battle Droid
MOC clean Battle Droid
All for $15...I made them an offer...I cheaped out. LOL.
Some kid showed up and start picking out some figures for $4 each or 3 for 10. Yeah, its funny that kid's going be enjoying figures, some over twice as old as himself...ones that have been largely adandoned by adult collectors for newer versions. Will POTF2 MOC wind up being rare because they were all sold 15 years later to kids who opened them? ??? Probably not.

That and collectors who open to make more room and to more easily display their figures.
I find that it's hard to find great condition cards... if anything those will/are the rarest of finds to be found cheap... it's getting harder to find POTF2 red cards that are in amazing shape (for a good deal).
-
Got a 25 cent yard sale landspeeder. Missing the windshield. They are always missing that. Sometimes the rear middle jet engine, but always that windshield.
-
Nice find, they're always nice to display a couple figures in riding it.
-
I found today mint condition sealed ugnaughts from 1997
in the store of John Chipana at 30 soles or 11.5 dollars.
-
Picked up this morning potf2 Grand Moff Tarkin sealed, at Chipana store in Magdalena, Lima, Perú
25 soles or 9 dollars. 8)
-
Picked up tonight Zuckuss with slide!! :)
-
You ever need POTF2, hit me up. I'll do far better than $9 on a Tarkin figure. :P
Wonder what shipping rates are like for you from the states? Could probably get a lot of what you're after cheaper that route, EG.
-
Picked up a POTF2 Oola figure recently. I much prefer the POTF2 version over the pack-in version we got with Jabba's Throne Set. Actually, I hate the newer version.
-
thanks Jessee I am in Lima Perú, hope to consult how to buy... for example
a potf2 tie fighter pilot, either green or orange card.
Today I bought space trooper from potf2, at 35 soles, carded
this was more expensive, it made 14 dollars.
-
found tonight potf2 Leia all new likeness
in Lima Perú (carded new) at 25 soles
or 9 dollars.
-
Picked up 5 ASP-7 Droids... yes, I'm a #droidwhore at this point.
I pick up one at every Steel City Con... 5 this go-round for fairly cheap. Good filler.
Also nabbed a yellow R5 from the one Y-Wing release but can't recall which one it was... know it's not POTF2, but thought I'd mention it as another droid I got.
-
Picked up a $3 Vader Tie complete...I guess it's the POTF2 version. I find one like every year...okay, the past 2 years. Where are the plain TIE's?
Got some other stuff, but it's not POTF2 and cannot be listed here.
-
Buddy of mine got a Vader TIE in a box of stuff... had silver markings for damage on it. Never realized they'd done a half-assed "weathering" on a Vader TIE ever. It was lamely done, so I didn't feel bad at not owning it.
-
Looking at the photo archives at the 'scum, the verison I got today is from Saga 2006, since it has solid green missiles and painted details on the hatch, cockpit interior and half-Darthed weathering. All three of mine are from 2006 onward, it seems.
Not sure about the weathering, but I like the POTF2 version's consistent coloration over the Saga's 3 shades of grey (body, wings and hatch...all different)
-
They've technically never done this ship in the correct light grey color it should be... Its model doesn't seem to have a ton of weathering either. A little, but nothing major (not counting the damaged version after the crash).
-
Got a box load of loose figures at a moving sale, mostly POTF, but some Episode 1, Saga 1 and Tartakovsky Clone Wars as well. Haven't even finished going through the box. Finally got some of the original 90's EU figures, Thrawn, Dark Empire Luke, Mara Jade, young Emperor and a Sentinel (had one already, MOC). They are decent, Luke and Palpatine seem less preposed than their comic pack versions (which is why I skipped the comic pack).

Is the Sentinel the figure that was supposedly modelled after Atha Prime?
If so, I still need that.

Yes, that's him. Atha Prime was based on Royal Guard concept art, IIRC.
The figure is essentially a "salt shaker" with 3 joints, but still cool looking. Light-pipe eyes, too.
-
I didn't mind the comic versions but their capes are stupid. And I'm real anti prepose stuff if that helps. I loved those EU when they came out... God I ordered those of the fan club. Blah.
-
I picked last Wednesday 15.01. 2014 THE POTF2 EU Dark Trooper at John Chipana store.
-
This afternoon I picked up Sote POTF2 Luke Skywalker in imperial guard disguise. Sealed.
-
Tonight I picked POTF2 Flash Back Obi Wan Kenobi.
-
The recent ones I got were C-3PO with removable limbs, the ugnaughts, Owen Lars and Beru Lars. I'm hoping to get Admiral Piett.
-
I got the potf2 Gamorrean guard tonight, in its blister.
with slide.
-
I recently got Motti but without his Commtech Chip and I also had gotten the Admiral Piett figure this month earlier too.
-
Why the interest in POTF2 figures? Granted some are good sculpts, but a lot of figures have been greatly improved over the last 20 years.
Are you guys just filling holes?
-
Perhaps. I'm doing that really just here.
-
I have several opened POTF2 figures. They are RD-D2, Lando, Fett, Tatooine Ben, and Vader. Looks like the original price was $6.99 each so they've gone down in value I suppose. I agree with some earlier comments that the newer lines are so much nicer then these. The defining characteristic of the POTF2 in my eyes is how ripped out the majority of the figures are. (Space Steroids?)

Got POTF2 Flash back Anakin Skywalker this week. :)
-
Got Tie fighter pilot, green card.
-
Picked up today the potf2 Luke Skywalker with T-16 model commtech at Origin Toys in Lima, Perú.
-
I just got a couple of those prototype vehicles from the "Art of Start Wars" series they did, namely the prototype Snowspeeder and Bespin Cloud Car. I remember seeing them in stores back in the late 1990s, but didn't bite... Then this past week, the bug hit me and I found them MIB for under $20 on eBay and Amazon. I've read these vehicles didn't sell that well, but I thought they were actually done quite nicely. The Snowspeeder had some decent weathering and paint apps in particular and the action features aren't too funky. The figures (naturally) aren't the greatest, though I rather like the look of the prototype Cloud Car pilot...
-
Yeah, they were shelf warmers, but by then there was a glut of Star Wars product building up everywhere.
Air speeder was cool. The pilot was oddly quite tall.
The Cloud Car was a disappointment for me at the time. Maybe because the real deal was better and wouldn't be made in the modern line for a decade. And the silly shooting nose cone (means every time you find a used one, that nose is missing!)
The Rebel Speeder Bike is worth getting, even if it seems more like a riding lawnmower. :P
-
I love the CC now for that reason Scockery... It's like it goes up 100% thanks to that Saga beauty... Speaking of, I have like a dozen of those I need to sell. :-[
The Airspeeder I army built... That was an old EU rebel speeder so I always intended on repainting and detailing them. And yes, an absurdly tall pilot. He's like a whole other scale.
I will say the CC pilot was odd but he had insane levels of detail for the time.
The Rebel bike though, man it sucks. :( The pilot was bland too. Easily the worst.
There was definitely an issue in 98 with over production and then the clearance floodgates opened and man you could get those for like $5 I think? Kaybee and Hills... TRU too I think? Man I overbought during that.
-
Remember the $10 AT-ATs?
-
Oh yes. Should dig out what I have and sell. He'll the BATAT is pretty pricey now too and they clearanced out fairly cheap.
-
I never got $10 AT-AT's. :'(
I still never got the cruise missile trooper. The idea of a non-removable figure was offensive. Strangely, in all my garage sale goings, I've never come across one or parts of one.
-
I got one but man it's one of the goofiest things ever made.
Hills was where the toys were... And that's where I got the $10 ATATs back in the day. They were blowing out stuff since they were going under.
-
Picked up today the potf2 Expanded Universe Speeder Bike with pilot.
-
My dad found a Darth Vader's TIE Fighter at a yard sale. The top hatch snap/connector tab is broken but the hatch was surprisingly still there and its tabs keep it on. No torpedoes, of course, because...kid-owned.
Why is it almost always the character ships? LOL. I've got a squadron of TIE ADVANCED now...(even though Vader's design was unique even for a TIE advanced...bah!)
-
An A-Wing today for 25 cents. The side guns and canopy were missing and the landing gear needs fixing.
Good thing there's a healthy star wars repro parts industry.... :(
-
That's a lot of work, but a quarter is a quarter I guess.
A crashed AWing with an ejected seat might be an easier custom than trying to fix it though.
-
I've taken one with faulty landing gear apart before and swapped parts with another. In fact, this one may donate to that one someday or vice versa, because that one had the guns (but no canopy).
-
Found Ponda Baba, sealed at 29 soles in Perú; i.e. $
8,49 aproximately.
-
I ordered the Millennium coin Emperor Palpatine this month.
