My wife threw me a surprise birthday this past Saturday, and there were about 50 people invited to it. I got a bunch of cool stuff (mostly money which was all spent at the recent toy show), but I did get a 12" Luke Skywalker w/Tauntaun. I've always wanted one, but wasn't really wanting to dish out $60 for it. Now I didn't have to. :)
You know, usually my wife is the queen of birthday cards, but I woke up this morning without one anywhere. That's not like her, but she did recently throw me a huge party.

Generally my birthday celebrations are fairly low-key. For instance, I decided not to tell anyone at school, as they have a habit of wanting to sing "Happy Birthday" to people really loud, and really off-key. ;)

Guess I should explain now, though it's the abbreviated version of the story. It involves the MR Anakin's FX saber, a glass ceiling light fixture in our bedroom and a high speed collision. The saber made out without a scratch, and the light fixture, well, let's just say it's gone to a better place now. ;D So with that out of the picture, that just opened up the door for the ceiling fan my wife has been wanting in there for several months. But no, just because I had to go buy it and pay for it yesterday, doesn't make it a birthday gift to myself. :P

So YOU'RE the guy who did the damage to the ceiling fan! I didn't understand who that story was about. HAHA!!! I almost did the same thing to our ceiling fan in my master bedroom when I got my lightsaber. I had the lights off, it was nice and dark in the room, and with the lightsaber glowing it looked like the scene out of AOTC (between Dooku and Anakin). I was swinging that bad boy in all directions when I hit our ceiling fan. The second I hit it I jumped to the ground because I thought it was going to fall on my head. It didn't break or anything. Both the saber & ceiling fan were in good condition afterward.

Well, for the record, it was just a regular light fixture, not a fan. But as a result of it, we now have a ceiling fan in there. Probably explains why my wife didn't seem to care too much when I broke the light in the first place. She knew this was her chance to get that fan in there.

Happy 30th birthday sp00ky!!!! I just turned the big 3-0 in April, and it does feel quite different than being 29. My wife threw me a suprise birthday party, and it was themed on "Over the Hill." That sorta made me feel old. And now anytime someone asks for my age, I have to say 30, and that makes me feel even older than I am. Thankfully I still look 18 though (seriously).

I was hoping to sneak this one by everyone, and thought I was about to, but alas - Scott finally caught me! ;) No idea what those little pills up there are there though... :P
Got some nice SW swag from the wifey, the family, and of course - myself! ;D Mom-in-law hooked me up with a fancy, cool Star Wars watch made by Fossil, with that old famous Hildebrandt SW picture in it from back in '77. Patty hooked me up with a couple SW books, and the Jedi Luke/Snowtrooper/re-release wave (a day or two early, but who's counting).
...and I hooked myself up with... well, a whole bunch of stuff - the Playskool line, more of the Snowtrooper wave, the CW vehicles and 3-packs, and some MOMC upgrades - among other things! 8)
But the best Birthday present, was our new house closing escrow on Wednesday, July 30th. Official homeowners now, we are! Though we're letting the previous owners rent back from us for another couple weeks still, so we won't be moving in until the 19th. But soon enough! I'm right behind ya' John (and congrats on your 12th)! ;)
Also getting some other real fun little Birthday gifts tomorrow when I get together with my buddy Jared, who's hooking me up with the last figure that I need to complete my entire modern carded and loose collections - my second Ep. 1 Battle Amidala (to open). He scored it in Japan for me recently for CHEAP! 8) Technically, I still need a FF Weequay and Sandtrooper too, but those are more carded variations, so I'm not counting them! Plus, he's also hooking me up with the ROTJ Kubrick Fett variant that I need to polish off that collection for the time being as well! So Happy Birthday to me!!! ;D (thanks Jared, you're the man!)
See now - the older you get, the greater the propensity to ramble on and on and on... So thanks again everybody! Guess turning 33 ain't so bad after all... ;)

Thanx peeps. My girlfriend's son snagged me a female Tusken w/child (now I have 2. My girlfriend got me a $30 gift card for TRU (spent it tonight too). Got another $60 ($40 was used at TRU).
At TRU I managed to get a lego squad car (been neglecting my Legos since the summer started). For my Muppets I got Rizzo The Rat. For the Mattel Batman line, finally got me a Joker (just wish I had enough left to get the Batmobile). For Star Wars, grabbed an R2 Droid Factory Flight, Secret Ceremony Anakin and a Mynock Hunt Chewy (all TRU had and I wish I could have found Barriss or Aayla, but it is nice to see some 2003 figs north of the border).
Also got my order from Legends (Ordered Monday night, order shipped yesterday morning, never seen shipping that fast not even from peeps here in the same province). That order was Saga - Padme Droid Factory Chase, POTJ - Eeth Koth, Sabe, Zutton, Obi Wan (Jedi Training Gear), Shmi Skywalker, FX-7, X-Wing Pilot Luke, Emperor's Wrath Vader. Great price some POTJ stuff at the moment, 10 or 11 figs are going at $2.99 CAD a piece.

Dragon Con was a ton of fun, and yeah, I did do a little drinking. :P I'll have pictures to share soon. And I got severely spoiled with gifts by a certain significant other: A loose Ledy Tusken Raider (squeal!), a vintage Villains 3 pack boxed, and a carded ROTJ Raider. Chris Georgoulias also gave me a vintage Tusken Raider mask. I made out like a bandit, big time.
Let's see..... We caught a great show by Cruxshadows at the convention, attended a very, uh.... entertaining collectors panel featuring Peter Mahew (why? Right, same question I asked myself) with the guys, saw the Kling On beauty pageant (which was great, because one very brawny female Kling On wouldn't leave John Alvarez alone), met Aria Giovanni, avoided certain death by the hands of SLT because he didn't show, and met a bunch of new people. The convention was a spectacle indeed, I'll definitely go back next year.

I did get some good loot - yes they are cows!
Chris agreed to let me snatch up 3 retired ones off ebay and those are in transit.... In total I got about 12 cows from family.

Funny thing is, at dinner tonight at Applebee's, my voice cracked while I was talking to Alison.

I racked up today. 10 DVD's and a PS2 game. Also got free desert at two resteraunts and good ol' Hollywood Video gave me a free New Release rental.

34 and chugging along nicely. Old enough to know what seeing the original Star Wars ANH in the theater 19 times and to have own some great vintage before they were vintage only to see them burned crispy on a pyromaniac binge in my teens.

Funny story. My grandfather (well, my half brother's grandfather, so not really my grandfather) recently got remarried to the most evil woman on the planet (we think she's trying to kill him by starvation. She's been married 4 times prior, all husbands died, and within months of marrying him, she started trying to convince him to change his will to leave her everything, but thats another story). Well, I always get a cared and some money from gramps, but this year I just got a card. No big deal though.
The thing that pisses me off, is the card. On the envelope, when someone would just write the person's first name, grandpa's evil wife wrote "Adam Lowe". WHAT THE HELL OTHER ADAM THAT THEY KNOW HAS A BIRTHDAY THAT DAY?!?! Jesus... Plus, when she gave it to my mother to give to me, she said "Here, this is for your son". I dont even think she actually knows my name. Popular family theory is that she filled out the card, lied to grandpa about putting money in it, and purposely gave the card to my mother, in front of grandpa, to throw him off. This woman is pure, unadulterated evil. The card was also signed, grandpa signed it grandpa, as usual, and his wife signed it "Katherine Siddons". At least she doesnt expect me to call her grandma.
I just want to start calling her and politely hint that I intend to kill her. "Gee Katherine, it sure would be tragic if you slipped and broke your neck this winter"

oh, you guys (actually, not you guys... just you matt) are oh so funny with the "old" jokes ;)
so... what did i get for my birthday this year? how about 4 days off from work (so far) with a severe case of bronchitis and a side order of influenza? that sound like fun? i've been on so many meds that i didn't even know what day it was, since i haven't been out of bed since sunday except to go to the doctor. but i'm actually feeling a little bit better today - a little - enough that i can stand up for more than 30 seconds without grabbing onto something while the room spins around me...
well, thanks all for the birthday greetings, back to bed for me...
