2017 SDCC Exclusive 6" TLJ Rey & Luke 2-Pack

Interesting!  And the packaging is very much in keeping with some things we've seen from the summer convention exclusives over the past year.

While I love new stuff, 3 con exclusives for the 6" line seems like a lot of money to be throwing out. I kinda liked it better when there was just one.

We had three last year:  Jyn Erso, Obi-Wan Kenobi with table & holo Leia, and the unmasked Kylo Ren. 

But the size alone of this year's offerings are significantly bigger.  The landspeeder with Luke is pretty big.  The whole Thrawn set is fairly large.  And this 2-pack?  Kind of big, too.  I think if you bought one of each at SDCC, the three sets would probably run you about $150.

The saving grace is that these sets are going to be available via HTS after SDCC.  And moreover, the landspeeder will see general release, but with different accessories for Luke.  And Rey, Luke and Thrawn are due out in the first wave of the TLJ 6" figures, but in basic packaging without all the exclusive accessories.

So the 2 basic figures in exclusive packaging, ala Jyn and the FO Stormtrooper. Easy pass, especially since this will run $60 easily.

Don't worry - if TFA is any indicator, they'll update the deco in a later wave to get you to rebuy it... and then add a new accessory a few waves later to get you to re-buy it again!

These look great, but I liked Rey a lot more before she grew sideburns.   

I'll probably wait for general release if this is just an exclusive package.

The set LOOKS nice, but it seems to be more about the packaging than anything else.  But I think I'm going to hold off on this one, too.  Per this morning's press release this set will be $49.99.  But I don't get the sense that there's anything in this package that won't be in the single releases of Rey and Luke come Force Friday.  And I suspect that there will probably be some sales happening at that time, too.

I don't think it's confirmed given we haven't seen the individual releases yet.  The release from Jeff's post above shows accessories that I think would likely come with the single figure release as well.  Unless they're planning to not include Rey's staff or Luke's cape, it seems pretty likely that there's nothing "exclusive" beyond the packaging. 

That said, if this is the only version that has removable sideburns for Rey, I will get it.

We should all be able to make a better informed decision following the Hasbro panel on Friday.  If they don't reveal the first wave of 6" Black Series figures for the TLJ line, I'd be genuinely surprised.
