YodasNews reveals a couple pretty cool Jedi Knight builder sets. Weird that these are obviously collector focused packs but in the Vader line look. I imagine these will be some exclusive - my first guess, Target
Pack 1 (http://www.yodasnews.net/HasbroHR2013/swboghighresbox1.jpg): Sephjet Josall, Sarrissa Jeng, Roan Shryne and Clone Commander Ponds
Pack 2 (http://www.yodasnews.net/HasbroHR2013/swboghighresbox2.jpg): Que-Mars Redath, Khaat Qiyn, Selig Kenjenn and Clone Captain Deviss
-
pure awesome! these Battle Packs blow up my AOTC wishlist here on JD.com. Will I need to go tweak it? lol
update: seriously just checked - these packs knock off my top 4 I wanted from this movie - thanks Hasbro! Now why didnt you show us these at SDCC???
-
I'm leaning towards TRU only because of the figure count but I was thinking how well these tied to Targets 2-packs too Jayson. Outstanding sets!
-
These look pretty awesome! And I think it's the right way to present these particular Jedi. On their own, I think they would have the potential to pegwarm. But in this kind of multipack, I think it's going to get more potential interest. And this definitely knocks some characters off of my AOTC wants list!
-
Count me in for one of each! Great sets.
-
Finally that girl with the braids. Reissuing old Clone Trooper officers as EU characters is a bit cheap, I see a strange black stripe on Deviss's "nose" (Does it make sense that the Target Vader pack aimed at kids has the new Shock Trooper, but these sets use the older clone mold?)
Missed opportunity to make a realistic CW Ponds, scene accuracy be damned.
It's nice to see obscure character sets like this, but it also reminds me of how boring the Jedi are to me, especially random human ones.
How many Weequay Jedi were there?
-
This is nice to get some background characters out of the way. There were only 2 Weequay Jedi as far as I know.
Now, couldn't they get us some packs like this with Cantina/Tatooine characters?
-

+100...you really mean to tell me that you think you can sell these better than a set with like 8 Cantina Aliens and 8 Jabba Goons?
-
I'll buy these, but not overly impressed with them. I need two more clones like I need a hard slap in the face. Some of the Jedi look cool, but I hate mixed packs of hard goods and soft goods. Give them all cloth, or don't give them any - looks dumb mixed together. It would also be nice to see some other aliens in there. Apparently the Jedi were 95% human, 4% weequay and 1% other.
-
I am glad these are coming out and we can get these out of the way, but human Jedi are a little boring and have about the same screen time yet less appeal than that 15th Cantina alien.
Justin, there are definitely more alien Jedi, they've been released (and re-released) already: Yoda, Kit Fisto, Aayla, Nikto, other Weequay, Luminara, Shaaki Ti, Barriss Offee, Pablo Jill, alien padawan... to name a few.
-
I know. I was exaggerating.
-
I think aliens are more appealing as single figures... I think that's why these are as they are and few aliens Are in the sets. Army building is still on hasbros radar, a lot. I think cantina aliens or jp aliens are much more appealing single carded. Though I could see a set of human goons for Jabba like these. :)
-

Totally agree with that... also I'm not sure if you saw the mockups that "localgotal" made but they would be great for this format... at least I think so.
-
I just saw these posted on TRU Canada for pre-order. i guess they're TRU exclusives then? I imagine they'll pop up on the US store before long.
-
"Estimated Ship date: 12/31/2013"
-
"Estimated Ship date: 12/31/2013"
Tha'ts probably not accurate. Apparently they put that as the default ship date when they're not sure when they'll be out. They had the same thing for Transformers Masterpiece Soundwave and he's starting to ship now. I imagine they'd have them out in time for Christmas, probably Oct or Nov if not sooner even.
-
I missed the announcement of these. Kinda cool, but not a priority.
-
There's been no official announcement, just leaked photos and now an actual store preorder listing.
-
Yeah that's about the weirdest thing in a long time it seems... nothing, then a store listing seems to at least confirm they're coming in some capacity, and to who, but still not a peep from Hasbro. Like they just didn't care about this set yet it's by far one of the cooler things we've seen in a while.
-
Maybe a Canadian exclusive? ;) ;D
-
Pack 2 (http://www.yodasnews.net/HasbroHR2013/swboghighresbox2.jpg): Que-Mars Redath, Khaat Qiyn, Selig Kenjenn and Clone Captain Deviss
Did not realize until today that Selig Kenjenn is NOT from AOTC, but is instead a Hasbro figure creation of LFL employee Leeland Chee based on an illustration by Joe Corroney.
Is that a sign that we're officially running out of Arena Jedi if Hasbro is now making them up in order to finish out box sets?
-
It's a sign that nepotism ain't just a river in France. There are more arena Jedi, but they probably didn't want more than one female in set. Still, there's tons of EU types fans might want.
-
I'd dig seeing the "self-portraits" done away with... Movie guys or generic.
Like the Endor Rebel TVC figure, they really needed to aim for screen accuracy. As near as can be told, there's only one trench coated sergeant and Sideshow got him right... Hasbro chose to do a headsculpt that not only wasn't generic, it wasn't even accurate to one of the actual handful of troopers, and that bites.
-
Yakface has the details on these via Canadian TRU... Looks like they'll be out soon and can be pre-ordered on their site for under $34... They should be free in the U.S. then if the odd price differences stay true.
-
I guess I'd take them at "free".
-
I'm excited for those! Jedi Army builders? I'm in... I'd take another round of generics even. Mix in a new alien race we haven't gotten before in each pack and I'd love it.
-
Jedi are boring. I appreciate any new characters at this point, though (and most more interesting characters require more new tooling). It would be nice if they made the female green Nikto (I still want to call it Klaatu)...I think it was female, from ROTS.
Speaking of Jedi army builders. You can buy super-articulated episode one Obi-Wans from Hong Kong sellers super cheap ($2 a figure or less) , but his neck joint size doesn't seem too widely compatible with many figures.
-
I like the variation with these... It adds things. It's one of the only prequal areas I find interesting at all, at this stage of the game. This and redone "premium" Clone Wars/ROTS Clones... Fordo styled Clone Commanders, realistic unique Clone Wars Clones like the shinies... Stuff like that appeals to me. It's far better than the Clones Hasbro is putting out like the Sergeant or 41st Grey markings one they half-assed.
-
Was this really supposed to be a general release item?
-
Was this really supposed to be a general release item?
No way. These things screamed exclusive from the start.
-
Yeah, the debate was just to who... Target's had all the Arena packs so far, but this had the TRU multi-pack build, and they apparently are the winners. Looks good to me... Like I said I'd take two more of them really.
I'd like to see Imperial and Rebel sets done at some point as well... These army builder packs they've rolled out are outstanding IMO. From the Pilots to Ewoks to these.
-
So, we're pretty sure from these pics that the clones are 03-50 sculpts (like the EE sets) and not the newer VC45 body, right?
That's the only bummer for me. I like all the Jedi, but I would have preferred they use the VC45 sculpt so we'd have the Red and Yellow officers to go along with the TVC blue Lts and TBS olive green Sgts.

Correct.

Although really, really boring the Death Star Conference set from a few years ago was one of my favorites. Why not another pack with:
Ozzel
Piett
Jerjerrod
Veers
Sheckil

Found in AZ today.
-
The $34 reported was with 15% off. So these are $40 (?) normally.
-
I like to display one of every Jedi, so these sets are a must have for me. Seeing them on sale, I couldn't resist, though they're not supposed to be available until Nov 1 up here in Canuckia.
-
40 is in quasi line with last rebel sets I think? I forget but it's about right these days plus the inevitabal BOGO 50% off
-
Found them today in my neck of the woods. Picked up two of each set so I could open one and keep the other MIB.
Great sets - will add nicely to my Geonosis Arena display. Didn't mind paying the $40 price tag, had $10 in Rewards R Us bucks so I applied that to the sets, so I basically got them for $37.50 + tax which isn't as good as getting the pilot and Ewok sets under the BOGO last year, but still okay considering that the Jedi are all Vintage/Black-Series quality figures.
What gets me is that this is clearly a collector-focused pack so why isn't it packaged as either a Vintage line item or a Black Series line item? Would have been kinda neat to get Black Series boxed sets.
-
Yak Face.com reported that the Weequay Jedi and the Jedi Woman (not Sarissa) have their left hands mixed up. I wonder if that is going to be case for the whole production run.
-
I saw both of these sets at TRU stores near me. However, at both stores I visited they were priced at $45.99 each. I passed at that price. Especially since they're on TRU.com for $39.99 each.
-
Got a note from my buddy Jim that he got me the set with the Yellow commander. He saved the receipt, so I'll take it in and get the price adjusted using my $5 off $25 coupon and I think I have a $3 coupon too... So $8 off, hopefully. I have another $5 off $25 for the next one too, soooooo I should get $13 off total from both sets. Not bad.

TRU will price match their own website
I got these about a week ago and I really like the sets. Its a nice change of pace to get some background human jedi - plus they look really nice in hand imo
-
I found a TRU $5 off $25 or more purchase birthday coupon left on a counter at the post office. I'm now a member of the Smith family. Heh-heh-heh...

Where does one procure such a coupon, other than the counter at the post office?
-
Let's just say, if you were to have many children, you'd have many birthday coupons sent to you... like, say, every month. :-X
-
Yeah, you have to sign up for the Geoffrey Birthday Club or somesuch thing. It's free, so why not? I get two of those things every year, they come in handy.
-

And if I have no children, isn't it a little weird to be signing up for a club that gets kids a call and card from a giraffe on their birthday, just so a fully grown adult, can save $5 off $25 every now and then?
-
Would your dogs enjoy a birthday card and call from a giraffe?
-
I picked up one of each set at TRU this morning. I was surprised when the purchase total was around $40 short of what it should've been, but it turned out the cashier didn't scan a set so I told her. $80 plus tax was steep all at once, but it breaks down to the same as basic figure pricing.
I was really disappointed with the paint quality. The store had 3 of each set on the shelf, and I ended up picking the ones with the least flaws. Sloppy hairlines, misplaced eyes (like the Yoda mini-rig), and very messy clone helmets were significant issues I saw. I'm not 100% sure if I will be keeping these sets, but if I do hopefully the construction quality is better than the paint upon opening.
-

You can elect not to have the giraffe call you. ;) But thanks for the reminder. I need to update my kids' address so we get ours.
-
I've never gotten a call... I may elect to get one now. Hmmmm.
-
I was under the impression Giraffe's vocal chords weren't that good. Get a call and it's infrasound.
-
I got to open my sets tonight... Thanks to my buddy Jim picking me up a full set by the way, but I don't think finding these will be tough. My TRU had several full sets just chilling. $40 is too much on these, I'm afraid.
That said, they're nice... but easily something you should wait to get for BOGO50%Off at least.
I like getting filler Jedi... They're an overlooked "army builder" because they're not generic, but years back I said, "Boy I'd like more Jedi army builders even if they just slapped new heads on some of these good Jedi sculpts!", and that's exactly what they've done with these.
In some cases it works... others, not so much.
The big drawbacks are the skirt pieces inhibit leg articulation on several... I am a huge fan of either very flexible plastic or fabric used here, and in this case they really used neither. I'd say some of the paintjobs are suspect as well... I have several lightsabers where the hilts aren't painted totally for instance, and several figures the hair isn't quite perfectly painted.
MOst seem to have good eye paint though, and other small details seem done right, but it's largely hair paint that's just not quite there on everyone.
Another gripe, easy to make too, is a lack of saber hilts... ALL Jedi figures should have hilt accessories. No excuses. One could argue a cloak is required too but I'm ok without everyone getting a nice cloak... The hilts though, that bites.
The headsculpts are all nice, but some of the body choices are kind of odd... For instance the Asian male Jedi uses a recent Nikto Jedi sculpt... The neck's a tad oddly thick in that case, but not too distracting. Just slightly off, and makes his head sit lower on the shoulders.
I like picking out what the bodies are they used... They seem, mostly anyway, to be re-used. I can't tell if any are new honestly. They all seem old except possibly the Weequay Jedi's. I can't place his.
The Clones... These are the bone of contention, but to me this figure was considered the pinnacle of this line for so long, and I think it's still a great sculpt. I found the paint on them to be crisp and vibrant... I liked the binocs as a nice extra new bit. Sure I'd rather had 2 more Jedi but 2 Clones isn't hurting me either.
I took my 2 sets back to the store... I had 2 $5 off $25 coupons and 3 $3 off $3 coupons... So the woman who waited on me at first was hesitant because it was over a week on one set I believe, but she wound up doing it without any prodding. She took the initial $14 off one set and used my other $5 off $25 coupon on the 2nd set, so I got $19 back and that was cool. That made this far more worthy in my eyes... These are definitely closer to $60 for both than $80. And as always, TRU has them priced perfectly to sell them for about that on all their sales.
So yeah, wait... I won't say that often, but on these and most of TRU's stuff, yeah just wait.
But I'd probably be up for one more set of these if Hasbro wanted to... That'd give us some more generic Jedi goodness. You have to have the guys laying around dead after the battle.
-

Weequay Jedi uses TLC Tarados Gon (http://www.yakfaceforums.com/TGuide2004/html/TLC/basicfigures/49.html) as a base. The only real "new" one in the sets is Sarrissa Jeng (the female with the five head) - she has the most new pieces (arms, head, torso, skirt).
-
If these sit around as long as the Rebel Pilots and Podracer sets have, we should have no problems being able to get these on sale.
-
Oh yeah, I forgot the Nicole Kidman figure... yeah, she's definitely new.
-
So I don't know if it's too late to be helpful to you guys, but on Friday I wandered into Toys R Us and these were marked down to $29.99.
Then, they were also buy one get one half off.
Throw in the $8 e-gift card they sent me, and I walked out the door with a set for $41 - which I'm going to return on the receipt where I spent $88.
Getting these for $41 is a hell of a lot easier to stomach than $88 - just a heads up in case anyone else was looking for a better deal.
-
Since I got $15 back from Amazon on the Droid Factory set, I took some coupons to TRU and got the set with Sarissa Jeng for $20. Really the only one of the two I wanted, and definitely worth it at that price.
-
Weird that I have completely ignored this thread. Yesterday, I went to TRU and found both of these sets for $29 each. I thought they were new since I've never seen either set at TRU until yesterday. They only had one of each.
