Thanks for posting this OCB!  I was hoping we might get a look at these figures this week, and I think they look great.  I've always really wanted a new Lando Skiff, and its great to see more aliens to add to Jabba's palace.  This whole group of figures really looks good to me.  I think that the 2004 figures continue to impress overall, and I really hope that everyone who is looking for these can find them.  It looks to be a great year of collecting IMO :).

Wow!!!  :o :o :o

The Luke Hologram looks a little funky. I'm glad to see that we may start getting holograms with a little color to them (here's hoping for a new Spirit of Obi-Wan), but this seems too dark and not blue enough. I'm hoping that gets corrected a bit.

Lando looks awesome! Hopefully we'll see a new General Lando as well done as this. I love the blaster holster and the helmet looks great!

J'Quille looks cool. I made a custom of J'Quille that I sculpted from scratch. After seeing this, I like my custom even more! I'll definitely be getting this, but my J'Quille custom won't be retired to another shelf as I had originally thought.

Rappertunie looks great too. I've been hoping to get this guy since '97. There was just something cool and "Muppetty" about him.

Elom looks to share parts with J'Quille, which doesn't bother me at all. I mean, they are both shaggy, so it really makes no difference as long as the paint is correct.

I'm going to reserve judgement on Jabba until I see actual photos of him without the tongue. I do like what I'm seeing at least better than '97 Jabba!  :-[

B'ommar Monk, Bubo and Wol Cabbashite...bring 'em on!

Indeed, a nice looking wave thus far...

Nice scoop there Scott, way to go!

Who wouldn't say Lando's the BEST looking of the group.  Holy cow!  Working holster, removable helmet, force pike...  he's sharp.

The 2 new aliens of the group do Indeed reuse the body mold which was expected/feared by many...  If that's the case for the actual props I'm cool with it.  I like their blaster rifle too (though it'd have been nice if one of them came with a unique gun, but I digress).

They appear to be pretty well articulated too, for a couple background furballs.

Jabba's Jabba...  We've been down the road of what could have made this guy better and what we SHOULD have probably gotten in a $20-ish set (The good news, ROTJ Vintage Jabba's dais isn't expensive).

Rappertunie is...  Well, he's like WA-7.  He's set dressing, even as an action figure...  Very uninteresting to me, and not useful for much more than sitting next to the other Jabba's band figures we have already, haha.

Bubo ROCKS, for being basically an accessory...  :)  The B'Omar's unfortunately a rehash, as I too was hoping for a new sculpt with maybe just the 4-legged version of the B'Omar Monk...  It's not something I really wanted a 2nd of, but I do want that Bubo cuz he rocks.  The other "thing" in that set is funny that it's even being made...  It's also funny that he licked 3-PO's head.  I'll probably have to incorporate him into that mottif somehow.  It's his claim to fame afterall.

The Holographic Luke looks to be the "weakest" of the group, but for some reason it's still welcome to me.  It's something I know I wanted for no good reason.  What I'm curious about is, why the sabre?  :)  Not that I mind getting an extra one of those awesomely sculpted Luke Jedi sabres (That's a NICE accessory), but he's a hologram! :D  A "projection" accessory that attached somehow to R2's dome and connected to Luke would've been better IMO.  A sort of "force effect" thing.  He looks to be simply the ROTJ Luke sculpt reused, like Holo Sidious...  That's fine though.

That Lando still holds the title for best of the bunch, with the 2 aliens (Whiphid and Elom) in a close 2nd for that title...  Lando is just a truly vast improvement, and I didn't even want a resculpt of him till now.  They really REALLY improved Lando...

Now I want even more resculpts of POTF2 figures...  If they are all this great, how could you not want to see more resculpts?  That puts the POTF2 Lando Skiff to shame and I used to think it was a half-decent figure.

Everyone loves Lando.  ;)

I agree, I really think that the Lando is the best of the bunch.  They all look great, the Luke is probably the worst..although I do think that the hologram Luke does seem to be the same mold as the Jabba's Palace Luke we have coming next year, which isn't a bad thing I guess.  Anyways, that Lando is top notch, and I agree with JesseJames, it makes you want to see some more of the POTF2 characters resculpted.  The waves keep looking better and better, can't wait to see what the rest of 2004 holds for us.

J'Quille and Elom look fantastic!  Both aliens will make fine additions to my collection.  The rest of the wave looks pretty good too (Lando, Bubo, Licky Jabba, etc), for the exception of the piece of crap that is Holo Luke.  It looks horrible!

 ;D ;D ;D

So far Hasbro is hitting all home runs in 2004.  This is a great bunch of figs.  I kind of like Luke, but yeah, he could be a little more blue.  J'Quille is fantastic, as is Elom, and along with Rappertunie are my favorites.  It's all good.
Title: Re: Jabba's Palace Wave Pics!
Post by: SilverZ on October 28, 2003, 08:48 PM
;D Those are some mighty nice looking figures!

Have to agree that Lando looks great, especially for a figure that I didn't think really needed a resculpt in the 1st place. I stand corrected.

Rappertunie: Best. Figure. Ever.

That holo Luke is interesting, but yeah, he should be a lot more blue. Maybe this is a figure to hold off on judgement of until the finished product is shown. I have a feeling that the production plastics used may be an important factor in making this work. Still think the sculpt is great, regardless.

I'm really suprised there's not another piece of Jabba's throne room in there with the Monk and Bubo. I had my hopes up that they'd sneak it in somewhere.

All of the figures look AWESOME! Except for the Holo Luke. WTF was Hasbro thinking?  ??? There are so many things wrong with that figure, but I won't list them all. I'll be getting everything except for Luke. Hopefully they'll be easy to find!

Awesome!

My love for freaky deaky aliens is really going to come out with this wave.  J'Quille, Whiphid, a musical turtle-frog hybrid, an alien dog and a droid licking (that doesn't said too good) ceilling hanging creature.  Not to mention the main man slug, Jabba.  Lack of dias aside, he still looks pretty good.

The two humans look great also.  Luke looks a little weird, hopefully there is a little more blue to him in the final product.

All in all, an awesome lineup.

Yeah, someone said Luke looks like candy.  I could see him sitting on the end of a giant lollipop.   I'll still get him anyway.  I think the Lando looks great, too.  But like SilverZed3 said, I really didn't think he needed to be done again.  I'll have to look at it next to the last released Skiff Lando.  I love Rappertunie and look forward to seeing the drummers eventually being added.

I am impressed with the entire wave.  I won't buy them all but they look great IMO.  I still don't see what the problem is with Luke Hologram.  It's a much better figure than I thought they would chuck at us.  I will be all over the J'Quille and Elom.  I've wanted those ever since the new line was announced and I thought they would not make them.
Title: Re: Jabba's Palace Wave Pics!
Post by: Mister Skeezler on October 29, 2003, 10:04 AM
I'm betting that we'll see changes to the Luke Hologram as it nears its release date. I think its going to be much lighter at least. I'm hoping they use a similar method and give us some spirit figures. This really seems like a more translucent Dagobah Vader. I'm also sure the final product won't be so shiny.

Luke Hologram, needs to be a lot more blue, it looks disgusting!! I can't even look like at the figure.  It looks like it was dipped in a glaze and that's it.  Damn it sucks!!! That by far is the worse SW figure i have ever seen!

Wow!  Really the worst figure ever?  I don't know about that but that's been the consensus here and at Rebelscum.  Oh well I don't even want it to begin with.  I am sorry everyone dislikes it so much.

I really don't mind it. I think when its finally produced (I'm sure the coloring will be altered at least slightly) it will look different. I'd be curious to see how it looks with less light reflecting off of it and more light shining through it.

Luke Hologram:  It looks like it needs a little less color and a little more translucency.  But I have a feeling that if you can display this figure with a lightbulb behind it, it'd be stellar.  We'll find out.

Elom/J'Quille:  I noticed that this is the same figure, with a different head.  I don't really mind because as long as they are not standing right next to each other in Jabba's Palace, you won't be able to notice.  But man, they still look pretty cool.

Lando:  Bang!  Hasbro nailed it!  Even the ivory appearance of the mouth part of the helmet...

Rappertunie:  I never even noticed this thing before, but hey, it looks cool, and I dig it.

Bubo and his 2 friends:  I really want this for Bubo.  I've already got 5 B'Omarr monks from back in the internet exclusive day, I was obsessed with them after reading Tales From Jabba's Palace.  And I always wanted to toss Bib's head into one of those bowls.

Most excellent!  Skiff Lando's top notch, especially for a human character which Hasbro usually has trouble with (face).  I thought the POTF2 one was just fine, but obviously this one's even better.  Give it to me!

The Holographic Luke doesn't do much at all for me.  Not even sure if I'll buy it.  I'm sure it's just the same mold as the upcoming Jedi Luke, just with the translucent plastic.  It should definitely have a more blueish tint to it.  Not Spirit of Obi Wan blue, but still a bit more blue.  Though it's totally out of the question, I'd have liked to see it come with an R2 in the Ultra assortment, where it would look like R2 was really projecting Luke, and a much more authentically taller Luke holograph at that.

Rappertunie looks perfect.  I've been hoping for him ever since the SE's came out 6 years ago.  Just a few more band members to go now.  Come on Hasbro, I know you can do it.  Now give me some drummers!   8)

J'Quille and Elom both look good, and any aliens are always welcomed.  I can understand the body sharing being done by Hasbro here, but in a perfect world I would've liked to see each done seperately.  I believe in ROTJ one of these two is actually taller than the other by a good foot or more, so that would have been nice to see.  But I'll take them as is, over nothing at all!  Maybe I can do one of my hack customizing jobs on the taller one.   :P

Jabba still bums me out.  That Jabba Glob mold was just too small to re-use here.  Not nearly enough girth to authentically portray the ROTJ Jabba.  Nice paint job on him though, which helps.  Oh well, I'll probably just stick with the vintage version in my diorama.

Love the Bubo!  Who hasn't wanted that frog dog for about 20 years?  Nice to finally get one!  That slug thing stuck to the wall is still absolutely surprising to see included, but I'll take it.  Just give me a wall or archway to stick him to though.  B'ommar Monk is fine.  Already have a couple, but it's been a while so I'm sure many newer collectors would love to have a shot at it.

All in all, an excellent wave of figures!  2004 is going to be amazing.  Now where are the pix of the Yavin wave which Hasbro promised to show us this week?   8)

Skiff Lando is the MAN.  The sculpt on this figure carries this wave.  The Blaster that the Aliens come with is gonna look great with a Tattoine Stormtrooper too!!!

I am just stoked for the Lando though...he was one of the figures that in my opinion the Vintage Version was better than the POTF2 one.

Now that they seem to have Lando's visage down from the ROTJ era, they can get to making a General Lando.

Plus Lando's Accessories look to scale.  Hasbro is definately improving.

I don't have any of the "Hologram" figures so I wasn't going to get him anyway.

Yeah its a weird one, I love J'Quille and Elom, 2 I've wanted for a while, but there are a bunch of Jabba's goons I'd rather have...so I guess its a little bit of jealousy that my needs weren't met :-\

Hermi
Yarna
Doallyn
Klaatu (Palace)
Kithaba
Vintage Nikto

All excite me a ton more than Holo Luke and Rappertunie and even J'Quille and Elom...Lando Skiff is a great figure, wasn't high on my wishlist either

I'm just hoping there is another Jabba Wave down the road and all will be better for me

Seems to my eyes that the Holo Luke looks a little better than the shots originally released. Not so milky weird.

Really, really pleased with Lando, he looks even better on the card than the Hasbro shots, too. Is that knee articulation there?

Rappertunie is a LOT bigger than I thought he'd be; the card really points out his scale. That's a pleasant suprise too.

Good wave, me thinks!

They look pretty good carded (Except for the Luke, which still sucks ass). I'll be picking up Rappertunie and Lando for sure!

Post by: Snively Bandar on January 19, 2004, 06:12 PM
Holo Luke is still blah, but Rappertunie looks great, but his colors are a little off in places (face, stomach).  Not too good of a blend with the yellow and green there.  But I still can't wait for this one.

Something's out of whack with Lando's face too.  Doesn't look right, and doesn't even look like some of the earlier loose shots we saw a month or two ago.  Hopefully it'll look better when it hits the shelves soon, since it would be a shame if Hasbro somehow dropped the ball at the last minute on what looked to be an incredible figure.  The rest of him looks great though!
Title: Re: Jabba's Palace Wave
Post by: Jesse James on January 19, 2004, 06:53 PM
I'm loving the Lando...  That's shaping up to be a simply amazing figure.  I love that he finally got the holster/blaster as well.

Looks to be well articulated also...  From what I can tell anyway.  It's pretty well hidden, whatever is there.

Rappertunie is interesting...  I'm  not sure I really care one way or another about this figure, but only because I don't really care about the character.  It's an SE character I just didn't really give a hoot about.  It'll help flesh out the other band members we got in the 2-packs though, and I would be interested in seeing the drummers then too.

Holo Luke is filling a Holo Luke Void...  Nothing more, nothing less.  The sculpt's a fine reuse of the Jedi Luke mold...  I'm sure they could've somehow improved it to look as nice as the Holo Sidious figure did.  THAT was a great Holo figure.  The Luke doesn't stack up, but it also is so insignificant to me that I'm content with this version and hopefully never seeing another one.

To me, Lando's making the wave...  I noticed the pinched head in the photos too, but I think it's maybe a bit of an illusion.  I have a feeling it's gonna be a nice figure in person...  Probably even ranking up there as "great" in my book, for an effort from Hasbro anyway.

Jabba isn't looking too bad. But then again, it's not that great of a pic. But I'm still buying it. I don't know about the denizens pack. I've two B'omarr Monks and still ahve another in the white box. (I sent out for a lot of Spirit Obi-Wans in 1997.)

My enthusiasm for the Ultra Jabba dwindles with each shot. We were so close to getting what was needed back in the Deluxe Beast Asst days that this is obviously something that could be done so much better. Now that they've set a scale for him and his accessories, I think chances of a revisit are a long, long way off. With that in mind, I'll reserve my final judgement for when it's in my hands, and in the meantime hope for the best.

I can't wait to get Bubo though! :)

Yikes!  No sooner do I finally get caught up again, than another new wave puts me right back in my state of incompleteness once more!   :P  Hard to keep up lately, not that I'm complaining mind you.   ;)

This is going to be a fun wave to pick up, but it makes me want an official Jabba's Palace playset even more now.   >:(  I really wish Hasbro would look into the possibility of playsets again.  There's really not that many "important" ones to do - just Jabba's, the Cantina, and the Death Star (1 & 2).  How hard would that be?  Guess I'll just have to buy one of those $1,000 jobs off of eBay someday to get my playset fix.  Shame on you Hasbro!   ::)

Lucky day for me...

I just found the Jabba's wave today, all of it, at a local Wal-Mart...  Not a bad haul at all, and they had Bar2-D2 as well, though I'm still in need of all the rest of the Tatooine Wave.

JP wave is a good one...  Keep your eyes peeled.  J'Quille and Lando are hands down some of the best figures I've seen in a LONG time, short of the Super Articulated Clone.  they're real nice...  And a big kudos to Hasbro for at least using rigid plastic on Lando's pike.  No gummy weapon for old Lando, nope!

Went looking for these guys today and zero joy.   :(  Not finding much of anything lately.

I hear that, Spuffy. Both local Wal-Marts are barren of SW and LOTR swag. :(

The only things at any local Wal-Mart over here are the basic (generic) lightsabers. Lots of empty pegs.

Maybe with the Toys-R-Us sale they will get them this week since they are on the add.

If not I am sure this wave will show up at Target like the rest have.

Sounds like the new Ultra Jabba and Ultra Palace Denizens (Bubo/B'monk/Wol) are now hitting the West Coast as well, so keep your eyes peeled for those too!

Such short lived joy in being completely caught up...  Now back to the hunt!   8)

I found the new Ultra wave today at Wal-Mart in Mattoon, IL.  They had two Jabba's and two Court Denizens packs.  They are both very well done.

Jabba's Palace wave is hitting Wal*Mart's all over Michigan in full force. No pun intended. I found full cases at three different stores near me yesterday and today.

Tonight I found the Ultra Jabba and Dens at WM.

A friend of mine picked up the Jabba Palace wave of figures earlier. So they are in Indy. I now just need to find the figures.

Found 'em all today.  Nearly perfect figures as far as I'm concerned.  I want a couple more Landos for customs.
