When the Official Site said "coming in March", they meant it!
The Toys R Us exclusive Imperial Inspection LEGO Set was spotted by yours truly in Minnesota today!
For $49.99 plus tax you get:
the Imperial Shuttle, four all-new stormtroopers, two Imperial Guards, two Imperial Officers, the Emperor, and Darth Vader.
I like the new-look for the Stormies, very nice! Too bad the rest of the set is re-hashed stuff... :(

It's a nice set and had I not picked up the Shuttle last fall for $25, I likely would have been really thrilled to see this. It's a great ship and a great assortment of figures but no thanks.
-
Very nice set but I also have the shuttle from when it came out. I would just like to have the Stormtroopers.
-
I want new sets, not rehashed ones, so I'm passing on this as well.
I wouldn't mind getting a few of the stormtroopers and officers though.
-
I guess I'll be the only one trying to pick this up - I never even saw it at retail the first time.
Um, what exactly is different about those Stormies? Is it just the rifles that are new?
edited for poor English, not sure I improved it ;)

I don't think this is necessarily a TRU exclusive. I saw it at a LEGO store today.

From the official site:
"On the subject of updated sets, Bruns offered a tantalizing glimpse of a surprise Toys R Us exclusive coming in March."
Meaning TRU gets it as the retail exclusive, BUT LEGO can sell it via their stores (retail and on-line) like they do every set. The same way that Hasbro can get away with selling store exclusives at their "Once Upon a Toy" store at Disney.
What they mean by "exclusive" is that it is not going to be available at Wal-Mart, Target, etc. I guess, technically, it should be a called a "shared" exclusive.

Ditto. I'd like to know this as well, and if there's any other changes to the minis, or the Shuttle, in this set. No way in hell I'm paying $50 to get a couple slightly altered Stormtrooper figures. I can tolerate $10 for a couple Hasbro rehashed updates, but not $50 for an all new (mostly old) Lego set.
Same **** can be said for that damned Tie Fighter set with all-new light-up saber Vader. That sucks donkey dork as well.
Lego's really running their OT product into the ground of late. Granted, I'm excited about the UCS Death Star and purported Sandcrawler, but that's about all there is on the OT front it sounds like.
Not to mention, I'm exceedingly annoyed that most new/high-end Lego sets are no longer available at regular retail. That pisses me off. I much preferred when I could nab the uber-expensive sets on clearance at Target. Hence, I've fallen way behind with this line (Cloud City, UCS SD, Snowspeeder, etc). :-\

You could be like the people where I live and just use an exacto knife to extract the Vader, leaving behind a useless Tie >:( ::)

Seen that plenty out this way as well.
Good tip though. Thanks! :P

Looks like more than just the weapon. Both legs have markings, also has markings below the waist line.

Thanks for the pics Dale. 8)
Well, I hardly think that a little extra paint on their legs is worth getting too excited about.
-
Those new Stormies are badass. But $50 for them? Geez, thanks a lot Lego. :-\
-
You could try your luck and find them loose on eBay. Theres none out there right now but there were a couple of auctions a few days back that ended.
-
I know there used to be a site where you could order Minifigs seperately. I think it's called Bricklink? Not sure, and I don't know if it's still around. I may search around to see if they have any.
-
I saw this actually about 2 weeks ago at a TRU on my lunch break. I didn't know it was exclusive or out a little early. I did look at it and thought it was really, really cool. But I don't have the space or money to collect the LEGOs too.
:P
-
I don't think it's much of an exclusive since most of the set is a rehash. I won't buy it unless it went on clearance and it'd have to be pretty low to beat the $10 I spent on the Shuttle.
-
Anybody out there end up grabbing this set? I've been so tempted a couple times since I don't have the original, but the price has stopped me everytime. $70CDN - it's too much. Sadly, because this is a TRU exclusive, it'll likely never drop in price either.
-
I've been holding off on it myself, since I've got the same set from before. I guess this ones got some different Stormtroopers though, I think. No idea what's different about them though. Anyone know? Travis? Jim?
Price likely won't drop at TRU, but have you scoped out eBay Jesse? Sometimes you can find a little better deal on there...
-
Yeah, the Stormies have waist and knee paint.

Also, Vader's face no longer has eyebrows, Palpatine is grey colored, and the Imp. Officers are peach colored. Those are all the changes to the minifigs, I also believe slight modifications were made to the Shuttle itself.
I too am waiting to get this set. I was going to, but I blew $250 this week. Perhaps in a few weeks when I can work up some more cash.
-
I saw it and decided to pass... to much $$ for what you get. :-\

Well ****. I didn't realize that all of 'em were different this time. I'd only heard about the Stormies. Crap. Add yet another set to my list of needs then. >:(
-
Yeah, I still have 2 or 3 Episode 3 sets to buy as well as the Sandcrawler. :-\

Some many Legos so little money
