Vintage Kenner / Re: Do You Collect POTF Coins?
« on: August 5, 2004, 06:15 PM »
I hear you about the prototype coins, it can be really expensive. It wuld kill me to have the coins with out the figures anyway.

As for the variations, I would like to pick up a few of those but have never come across any.

Well I have all the Droids and Ewoks coins as well because I have a complete set of the figures MOMC. I have both versions of C-3PO as well.  I keep hearing about a gold Droids POTF version of the R2 coin but have yet to see one.

I also have the 3 coins that came with the bendy figures a few years back.

Well i think the hardest ones were the Skiff coin and the Hoth Trooper. They are pretty tough. The Hoth Trooper coin was the last one i got to finish my collection. Boba Fett is not really a tough find, but is over priced all the time so i waited til i found one at a reasonable price. How about you, what was difficult for you to find.

I also have this smaller Luke X-Wing coin that pops up every one and a while. I am sure someone has a pic of it. I have read alot about it and most people have no idea what it was going to be used for. Its the same Luke X-wing as the POTF coin, but the back has a different description and a little Yoda. In my eyes it is another POTF coin, so i figured why not it didnt cost much.

Well I am pretty disgusted with the Star Wars Shop. They offer nothing to us for damaged merchandise. There was no disclaimer when the figure was first ordered. This is just really terrible the way everything is being handled.

A friend of the family, who is a retired carpenter made it for me!

Very nice, thats really awesome. I actually may do soemthing like that with my set seeinghow nice it looks. I think I am going to hold off though for the 63rd coin before I do any framing. I know i will get it eventually. Perhaps in 4 years when I finish getting my MA and Ph.D. Here's hoping to finding a job and having some spending money then ::) and not being broke the way I am now

As for time, it took me a while as well, probably 2 years. Some coins are just so hard to come by.

Well being the huge vintage collector that I am I say go for the Droids, Ewoks, and POTF Coins. I have complete sets of all three mentioned above and i think that they are my favortie vintage items. (still need Vlix and a 63rd coin) The Droids and Ewoks cards have some of the nicest artwork. They are pricey now but are very cool.

Kubricks / Re: Power of the Kubricks!

Simon,

Where exactly are Kubricks sold in Japan?  Are they at Toy Stores exclusively or are they sold more widespread than that.  I picture a display by the cash register where you can pick a few boxes up for a few Yen and hope to get a Variant Boba Fett :P

To be honest I was always curious as well. I wouldn't mind hearing this.

Well let's put them in order:

1. Vlix - I yearn for this guy, he has infiltrated my dreams and and my thoughts. One day he will be mine!
2. 63rd POTF Coin

Other lines that I need and want that I would consider "grails"
1. MOTU Tytus
2. Thundercats PVC Snowman and Snow Meow
3. Thundercats Mad Bubbler
4. MOTU Wonder Bread He-Man

Dreams that will never be that are rarer than "grails"
1. Yarna Da'l Gargan prototype
2. Droids 2nd series prototypes
3. Ewoks 2nd series prototypes

Why another Call Mattel day?

Mattel isn't going to take it seriously.

I like some people at the .org, but they tend to have their heads up their asses in regards to the reality of their favorite toy line.

You know what, honestly your not helping the situation. It s aphone call. Its not going to kill you to give it a shot. If it doesnt work oh well, at least we tried.
