Other Collectibles / Re: Finemolds 1/72 Millenium Falcon in the works.

The front page here has several model kit stories but the one that pertains here is the first images of a completed Fine Molds Falcon.

The ship looks great...  Awe inspiring really by its detail.  This will be a superior product to even the likes of MR or Code 3 if you ask me.

The AMT/Ertl kits look nice too, and hefty if they are matching the dimensions I've read online.

That Falcon's just amazing though and the diagram with it appears to be all the figures for inside...  Seems like a nice mix of characters for inside the cockpit or around the ship outside.

Revenge of the Sith / Re: Who the Hell does this?

There's a slim chance that it's collecting because you like how a slew of carded clones looks, which does seem odd but nothing is out of the realm of possibility I figure.  I'd certainly have suspicions of hoarding, or scalping though, no doubt.

Of course they could just not have the time to open stuff and display it right now so the best way to keep their stuff stored at the moment is carded in Hasbro cases.  I could see that...  I know a lot of people with boxed/carded stuff they haven't opened yet but intend to at some point.  That seems to be a theme with some of us actually. :)

The Luke can go with Peasant Disguise Anakin, like father like son so to speak.

Nicely put...  I'm amazed at how horrid that figure looks actually.  I was expecting to be underwhelmed but Hasbro managed to even go below my already low expectations on that one by those pictures.  I hate the telescoping lightsaber on modern figures too...  There's a REASON Kenner didn't do that with later vintage figures, and I think "Nostalgia" is about as bull**** a reason to get a feature as anything.  You want Nostalgia?  Vintage Luke's in good condition can be had for $20 or less and you actually own something to feel nostalgic about.

The Leia I like well enough.  To me it'll be good to put with the R2 w/Holo Leia figure but it isn't near definitive or anything.  VOTC is still about as good as it gets IMO, and short of them releasing her with a clip-on hood accessory I'm pleased with her as is...  This will just be a decent enough hooded Leia I guess.  The arms are a little meh, especially since she doesn't have the right gun or the right pose to her sculpt to hold the right gun even if she DID have it, so that kinda is a letdown...  meh, it's ok.

R2 I'm unimpressed with but that's because I've got better versions already.  The rolling R2 is boring to me anymore.

Chewie looks like the winner to me.  VOTC's great but "hair-do" specific to one film, so I'm happy to get a good Chewbacca for the previous two films and not shabby for Episode 3 either really.

Is he $30 good?  No, and none of the other figures are.  I really hope these sets are done and over with.  The idea was not the best one, the exectution was just as poor, and the cost was simply frustrating.  Chewbacca's cool but the other 3 are mediocre or downright bad efforts overall.

Revenge of the Sith / Re: "Evolutions" assortment...

I was just playing "posing" my Sith set a little while here on my desk...  Outstanding.  I really was thinking this would be the downer of the 3 but I have to say that in my opinion this is probably the BEST set of the 3.  At least the figures seem of a higher overall quality anyway as they're all 3 heavy on articulation (no corner cutting save for Maul's elbows), the sculpts are fantastic, there's full accessories...

A couple little downers plague all 3 sets I've noticed.  The Clones aren't all super articulated, the chin sticking out on Bly's grunt is distracting too (and very odd that they let that happen.  That's the kind of thing picked up on before they go to production, but whatever), the lack of some weapons/gear...

On the Anakin set it's the lopsided articulation between figures that brought it down, however the lack of sabers (why is that I wonder?) and a lack of a 2nd robe for E2 Anakin were disappointments too...

The Sith set though, short of a couple more neutral sculpted heads for Maul and Palpatine (A ROTJ-ish Emperor face would've been nice), and maybe some hilts for Maul, Dooku, and Sidious to clip on their belts too.  They're great figures though as far as sculpt and articulation goes.  They pass the other two sets and I find that kind of funny really.

The sets are all 3 fantastic though, and I love these things so much.  It sucks tremendously to be among the areas short-changed on getting these in at retail.  I really have to thank SithLordChaos (Ryan) for helping me get my set of these (I owe you...  Literally).  He made my collecting much more enjoyable.  :)  Thanks man, again.

I want the Luke Hoth one as soon as I can get my grubby mits on it.

These aren't something I collect (yet) but they are great items I believe...  Affordable, diverse...  Proof that accuracy in this scale's possible too as they're tremendous sculpts in comparison to some of Hasbro's work.  They aren't bad fodder either I've found.  Not bad at all. :)

Pittsburgh lost a hard-fought game today from both sides.  outplayed is outplayed though.  We had shining moments but the attempt at a latteral was ultimately the turning point I'm afraid.

Kept me glued to the TV right to the end, but the D didn't do squat for the last drive and we just didn't match up well today.  Was a fun game to watch but my toe's still stinging from kicking the wall, heh.

But this is a good sign for those still looking Jim.  Hopefully they'll be out there en masse at most stores so people have the chance to get these.  I'm still on the prowl for my doubles and extras of all 3 sets.

I just hope Hasbro sees these as hits because this line has a bright future if they continue the same quality and pricing.  $20 for 3 great figures and gear is a good deal to me.

I'm glad you guys are safe and sound down your way.  The remnants are fluttering up here tonight and the rain's about 5 - 10 miles west of my place right now I guess.  No flooding expected, just downpours, and we need the rain anyway.  Stuff's dry around here lately.

Star Wars Ships and Vehicles / Re: Quality Walker Custom
« on: September 22, 2005, 12:22 AM »
The AT-ST legs look like an improvement to me because this puts it as another class of walker really.  Between the AT-PT (Or RT, which I personally view their history as the PT being a vast improvement/replacement for the RT chronologically) and the AT-ST.  A fire support walker, enclosed, capable of damaging a small piece of armor and infantry but not capable of taking on the "big boys".  Stable, small, speedy...  Don't put it head-to-head with the Alliance's best armor and you've got a winner vehicle.

I'm definitely intrigued with the concept and the parts.  This is easily something I kick myself for not thinking of.

I hope all you down there batten down the hatches and are ok.  I think no matter where you are in the area you're going to get a lotta rain, and the people on the shore I can only feel bad for.

I seem to recall some *******-ishness that took place over army builder pictures.  Rob, if you read this did you ever catch any **** privately from people?  I'm an army builder and even I wanna send Rob a scathing PM.   :P
