TV-9D9 / Re: Kenobi (Disney+) - (SPOILERS possible)

Vader didn't finish her because to do so would have been a mercy, and mercy isn't the way of the sith. Reva has spent her whole life plotting revenge against him, and she just took her only shot, only to discover Vader knew the entire time who she was and what she was planning. He then proceeded to utterly humiliate her, showing her with no shadow of a doubt that she never stood a chance and never will, not even considering her enough of a threat to bother drawing his own lightsaber against her. Now he's left her gravely, but not fatally wounded, utterly beaten, and denied the only thing she truly wants. Just like him. Now she has to live knowing not only did she fail, but she will never succeed, she will never have what she wants most, because she never was, and never will be powerful enough to take him on. She has to live with that now. Just like him. She has nothing left now, her thirst for vengeance will never be satiated. All she has now is her hate, and by letting her live, it will consume her. Killing her  would have been putting her out of her misery, and that isn't a very Sith thing to do. Letting her live and abandoning her there is the cruelest thing he could have done to her.

Well, there is the hokey story that R5-D4 can use the force. Maybe he joins Boba to mess up the pikes.

Was it ever confirmed if the R5 unit that Peli Motto had on Mos Eisley in The Mandalorian was the same R5-D4 from ANH/Skippy?

Pretty sure they confirmed it in one of the behind the scenes episodes. He's still got the scorch marks where his motivator blew and everything.

I know they've done a lot of fan service in this show, but I hope we don't see R5-D4 split apart and have a missile inside him.

I'm sorry, but that would be amazing!

This is exactly what I was thinking, and why a Mando focused line would be easy in a number of ways, and I believe incredibly popular. I just spent some time this week going through my loose extras tote, pulling out Stormtroopers, Biker Scouts, Tuskens, Death Troopers and other figures that have shown up so far. They could pretty easily put together waves of 6 and even include repacks like this to offset their costs. Throw in a beast assortment and a handful of vehicles and off we go!

Just for fun, lets pretend it's 2008.

The Mandalorian Toyline

Wave 1 – Season 1 theme case of 12

Mando w/ Child (non beskar) x2
Stormtrooper x 2
IG-11 x 1
Cara Dune x 1
Armorer x1
Greef Carga x1
Moff Gideon x 1
Jawa x 1
Deathtrooper x 2

Wave 2 – Season 2 theme case of 12

Mando w/ Child (beskar) x2
Ahsoka Tano x2
Bo Katan x1
Boba Fett w/ Removable Armor x2
Fennec Shand x1
Tusken Raider x1
Darktrooper x2
Stormtrooper x1

Wave 3 – Waiting for New Eps theme case of 12

Mando Tank Driver Disguise(removable helmet) x2
Boba Fett (new look) x2
Frog Lady x1
HK-87 Droid x2
Luke Skywalker x2
Mythrol x1
Heavy Mando x1
Koska Reeves x 1

Deluxe

Wave 1 – Season 1 theme case of 4

Scout Trooper  w/Speeder x2
Kuill w/ Blurgg x 1
Mando w/ Blurgg x1

Wave 2 – Season 2 theme case of 4

Mando and Grogu w/ Speeder x2
Krykna Queen w/ 1 Mid sized Krykna and 3 baby Krykna x2

Battle Packs Season 1 theme Wave 1 case of 4

Prison Break 1 – Mayfield, Xi'an, Republic Security Droid, Davanx  x2
Prison Break 2 – Mando, Burg, Quin, Q9-0   x2

Wave 2 – Season 2 theme case of 4

The Tragedy – Grogu w/ Stone, Dark Trooper, Stormtrooper, Battle Damage Mando x2
The Marshal – Cobb Vanth, Mando w/ krayt guts deco, Tusken Raider, Weequay bartender x2

Razorcrest Vehicle

Even if they were just 5-9 POA I'd probably be all over the lot of em. Who else would be game?

The worst part is, even with the TVC line getting drowned in it's necessary repack percentages, I can see the supposedly popular Black Series slowly but surely becoming more reliant on repaints, rereleases, and kitbashes to maintain its profit margin. That 8-year old line line has a lot less depth than the TVC does at this point, so the prospects there are scary and could strangle it to death if left unchecked.

There does seem to be an inordinate amount of fancy repaints with special "premium" packaging coming out lately. All that carbonized stuff and vintage stuff. I don't have a problem with it, but it does seem like half the time there's an announcement these days it's something like that. Hopefully it just helps with the overall budget much like the re-use in a line like Marvel Legends helps to get more of the unique sculpted stuff and isn't an ominous sign of things to come. Or rather lack of things to come.

I grabbed myself 2 halves as well just recently for a good 30% off and for that price, I must say I'm rather impressed with it. I think this is one of those odd things that just works so much better when you have it in person vs pics online. It really is quite huge when it's all set up.

This is why the loss of the basic line sucks. I know there was a ton of vitriol around 5 POA, but it was nice for actually having some decent character selection that we likely won't be getting any other way. TVC didn't become more expansive with it's fall, we just have less options now. It would be nice if they could revive the basic line in some form or another. That there isn't a basic Mandalorian dedicated line seems like leaving money on the table if you ask me. Missed opportunity.

Lets hope this is one of those low production run hard to find waves and doesn't end up clogging up the shelves.

One angle I'm not seeing talked about much is why it's assumed it's a done deal that Luke has Grogu now. Who's to say that he's going to be successful in training the kid at all? I keep thinking about Ahsoka and the contrast between the two. Ahsoka sits with the child, "speaks" with him, gets to know him and understand him, and tests him and comes to the conclusion that he's too attached to Din and that she can't train him because she thinks that attachment could be a problem. Maybe that's just her oldschool jedi indoctrination at work or maybe she just has enough foresight to recognize how things might go if she separates them. Compare it with Luke, who pretty much shows up, convinces both parties, who are clearly hesitant, that he knows best, and takes the kid without a second thought. He's force sensitive, so he needs to be trained. Maybe Grogu's training won't go very well at all. Maybe his emotional connection to Din will be a problem ultimately. Maybe he will eventually abandon Luke and his training after sensing Din is going to be in danger, mirroring Luke ditching Yoda in ESB.

Din sent Grogu with Luke because he thought that's what he is supposed to do and what was best for the kid. Grogu went cuz he thought that's what Din wanted him to do and wanted to make him happy. I've often held the thought that the overarching plot here isn't that Grogu needs to be returned to his people, the jedi or whatever. That's just a misdirection. Din and Grogu eventually discovering that they are each others people and that they need each other, and this is just another bump in the road for their relationship, and the eventual discovery that Din is basically his Dad and Grogu his son. At least that's my hope. I want a tiny mando helmet wearing Grogu who decides to follow the way of the Mandalorian.

This could also be a first glimpse at Luke's setup for where he ends up in the sequels. Watch the scene again with grizzled Luke in mind. He's in full on Luke Skywalker, Jedi Legend mode here. The way he's mirroring Vaders Rogue One scene. His final move on the last Darktrooper, force crushing it rather than just ending it simply. It's cool and badass and everything and it's really fun to watch, but it's not very jedi like. It comes off as a little arrogant and show offy for a jedi. Think of Yoda's words and teachings. Adventure, excitement. A jedi caves not these things. A jedi uses the force for knowledge and defense. Never attack. Perhaps Grogu will be one of Luke's first lessons that being a jedi master isn't as simple as swinging a laser sword and being all mystical and legendary, eventually culminating in his failure with Ben Solo and the rise of Kylo Ren. I'm likely looking too much into it, but there may be more nuance to that ending beyond just "wow, Luke is a badass jedi."

According to this image there's 2 of em, one with full hair and the other one is balding. The holiday special character just throws more confusion into it.

Just watched the 7th episode. This show desperately needs it's own dedicated toyline. It's a hit with fans and casuals alike.

If we were still back in the Legacy days, that last episode probably would have gotten us a couple of 4 figure battle packs. How about..

Set 1

Mandolorian, Mayfeld, Quin, Republic Prison Droid

Set 2

Xi'an, Zero, Burg, Republic Prison Droid (battle damaged)

I still think Solo would be better off continued as Disney+ series. I enjoyed the film, but the whole time I was watching it i couldn't help but think it has so much more potential as an episodic tv show.

Jawa is definitely a wait till a sale figure but it's a solid offering, and easily repainted into an offworld version so I'll be down for a couple at least. Solid wave overall, but a shocking lack of actual film related figures.

I'm not 100% sure but I think the R6 droid might be the same one from the Y-Wing lego set with Zori Bliss.
