Hasbro.com has posted some new images of #56 Obi-Wan Kenobi-Red Leader Pilot (http://www.hasbro.com/starwars/pl/dir.arena/dn/default.cfm) without his cloak.
It looks like we finally have a ROTS SA Obi, to go with Evo ROTS Anakin. :D
From what I can tell he looks to have ball-jointed shoulders/elbows/knees(can't see his right knee though)/ankles, and attachable lightsaber hilt.
I was sure ReHashbro would definately drop the ball on this one, but to my surprise they might actually deliver. (hope I haven't spoken to soon :P)
-
Sweeeet! So far I've skipped the ROTS Obi-Wans -- not only due to the action features, but more so because the headsculpts simply aren't very good. This looks like the high-quality one I've been holding out for.
-
Awesome. Now to find it at the increasingly bleak retail level. :)
-
Excellent. Too bad it will be a bitch to find. And hopefully it will sit in the Jedi Starfighter, which I hope to pick up on clearance.
-
Nice. I had a good feeling about this one from the first pics we saw of him. I wouldn't have minded a little paint weathering on his outfit though, but I'm just being nitpicky. I'll have to pick this one up.
-
Very nice indeed... Looks like potentially ball/socket ankles there, which is great. A nice SA Obi-Wan. There's yet to be a really good AOTC Obi-Wan even, and ROTS has the semi-OK Collection 1's but this guy look great.
Not a fan of the robe myself... It looks ok, but for siting in a cockpit it looks impossible. Bust out those softgoods robes I guess.
Tons of articulation and what appears to be a hilt you can clip to the belt too? Nice.
-
Also noticed the Turbo Tank Driver's now redubbed the AT-RT Pilot... Interesting. Makes sense since he appeared to be just that in sculpt.
Also noticed he has an odd removable chest armor piece. Veeeedddddddddy Interestink!
-
I like this one. It will be my first ROTS (well Prequel) Obi Wan. It looks like it has what evey figure should have, Good Sculpt and Plenty of Articulation.
Also like the AT-RT Pilot.
-
This is a pleasant surprise, I wasn't sure what to expect from Hasbro with this figure. It looks like we will indeed have a nice, SA Obi-Wan from ROTS, and that is a great thing. From the Hasbro Q and A that GH.com had up today, it sounds as if the Evolutions assortment will just be the sets we know of (for now), so its good to know we'll at least have a close to "ultimate" Obi-Wan from one of the prequels...and like it was mentioned, it should go nicely with the evolutions Anakin. Hopefully we can find this one at retail. Things have really slowed up around here with the figures (pegwarmers) that are left. I guess everyone has enough Polis Massans, Clone Pilots, and Mas Ameddas ;).
-
Or red saber Palpys. Hopefully the #56 Obi will be packaged with his starfighter eventually. I'd pick that up.

Galactic Hunter (http://www.galactichunter.com/absolutenm/templates/full_article_template_1.asp?articleid=4717&zoneid=2) has a nice preview up (with plenty of pics) of the upcoming Obi-Wan (Pilot) figure. It really looks quite nice, and it looks like we'll have a VOTC/Evolutions style Obi-Wan from ROTS on the way. Can't wait for this figure, we've waited a long time for a nice Obi-Wan :).
-
Hasbro dropped the ball by throwing in that crap #1 Obi wan with the ship. Morons.
-
This figure is and looks awesome. We finally got a SA Obi Wan with removable cloak and pilot gear. nothing can go wrong in this figure. i bought 2 of these bad boys today and it looks so nice in the packing i dont even want to open it ::)
go job hasbro on this one.
-
I just wish the cloak was soft goods so he could sit with in in the starfighter, but I'm NOT complaining since everything else is VOTC quality.
Now if the red starfighters would go on clearance....
-
NOTHING could be worse than the POS Obi-Wan with the gimp leg and gimp arm.
That's the only ROTS Obi Wan I have purchased so far and I'm yearning for something better...which could be a dog turd in a blister card.
-
I am so happy with this guy. Hands down, this is the best PT figure they've ever done. Perfect in almost every way (sure he could have had soft goods, but I prefer the molded cloak). I'm buying like three of him. :)
-
I just picked this guy up tonight and as others before me have said, it's a great figure. Super-Articulated all around, including torso articulation similar to the SA Clonetrooper and ROTS C-3PO. You also get the ball joint head, 2 ball joint shoulders, 2 ball joint elbows, 2 swivel wrists, 2 ball joint knees, and 2 ball joint ankles, along with the standard hips. The sculpt is fantastic and I think really matches Obi-Wan's look quite well. My only concern is his somewhat wide leg stance, which if you look at him straight on is a bit odd, but nothing major and is hidden when you put the robe on.
He looks good with the robe on or off and can hold his lightsaber just nicely. It even comes with a saber hilt to attach to his belt when he has his robes on. Both sabers are also well detailed, which is a great plus. I am a little disappointed that they didn't give the same robe for Obi-Wan as they did for Agen Kolar, because that would have allowed for him to hold his saber at the same time. The headband is well done too and is a great improvement over similar ones included with the Clone Wars figures.
My only nitpick with it, besides the robe choice which isn't a huge deal to me because he won't be wearing his robe on display, is that they chose to paint the ankle joint the same color as his pants, as opposed to the color of his boots. So it looks a bit awkward having these cool detailed brown boots, with a slight tan line in the middle. Outside of that, this is really an outstanding figure and I think this is one of the best ROTS figures, ranks right up there with the SA Clone and Count Dooku. It's also great custom fodder, I'll want to nab another one or two down the road.
If you see this guy, don't hesitate to buy him, it's just an awesome Obi-Wan and puts all others to shame. If you're worried about your other Obi-Wans, just donate them to charity, cause after this guy you won't want them! ;D
-
I'm really happy with it too. I just picked one up and have to say it's the best Obi-Wan released IMO.
-
Yeah, I just picked him up, and I must say I'm really happy with him. He looks great next to Evo Ani.
I really wish he'd come with and extra left hand in the "v" pointing postition he used before fighting GG. That would have made this figure the best ever.
Love the face too. Something so right about it.
-
I've got three of this figure opened and displayed in various dioramas now. What a great figure. And I can't wait to use the cloak for some customs.
:P
-

That would have been cool. ;D
-
Finally found one this morning and cracked the package open. I completely agree with everyone here. This is the best PT Obi they've done. Maybe the best Obi, period.
What a pleasant surprise.
I was so happy to see the balljointed waist. It makes a huge difference in the amount of poses he can do. Articulation all round on this guy has me happy. I couldn't ask for much more.
The headsculpt is dead-on and they finally nailed the greying highlights in his hair.
My gripes are small. I'd have liked a soft goods lower tunic piece because the plastic one is a little wide at the slits to accomodate sitting well. It's an understandable tradeoff to get a figure that will actually sit properly, but soft goods might have been a better solution. Still, it's only a nitpick.
His legs also seem a little skinny. But no matter.
Awesome figure. And from Collection 1, no less. :)
-
Buddy of mine picked one up at the Toy Show for $10 this past weekend... Of course, after I was done rolling my eyes at his lack of patience I had to check the figure out since he opened it. :)
Fantastic... Best Obi-Wan in the modern line, easily, and I'd gladly re-buy this figure for customs, and for an AOTC Obi-Wan.
Like CHEWIE said, it's worth having a handful just for in different dioramas.
BTW, if you're looking for a 2-finger-posed hand ala the GG fight, Obi-Wan's Outlander figure had a poseable hand sort of in that pose, so you very well may be able to pull that and put it into this Obi's left hand socket. Just a thought, it's not terribly complex customizing by a long shot (if it's snug, run a little hot water over the hands to soften them, but I've found hands pop easily on Hasbro figures).
May answer your prayers Mike, so it's worth a shot if you can get an extra Outlander Obi. :-\
-
What a great figure! This really should be the benchmark by which other core character figures are measured. I have been nothing but pleased with this figure thus far. Put this Obi-Wan right next to the Evolutions ROTS Anakin and it's perfect!
The only nitpick I have about it is the cloak, but you know what: it's removable and you don't have to use it. It's easy enough to use a SG cloak from VOTC Ben, SAGA Obi-Wan pilot or one of the accessory pack Jedi robes.
Well done, Hasbro!
-
best figure to date. in my collection anyway, still have yet to get my hands Ani evo yet. I got 3 of him so far, i plan to use 2 of the robes 1 for Ani evo & the other for a luke custom. maybe one of the obi's for a better Mace custom.
-
Great figure..unfortunately it's so easy to compliment..whereas it's more difficult to criticize. If I could find one con about this fig. is that it appears Hasbro forgot to paint the gold rim in the pilots' mic/head harness to match the movie/picture on card. Ok so this was the one thing I disliked, still it gets a 95% rating(would be 100% if they painted the head gear)-and that's saying itsa quality product!
-
This is my first (and will be only) prequel Obi Wan....he is greatness. He has the ball joints in all the right places, and other articulation where it should be expected.
I do think they should have used the same color plastic for the ankle posts, but that is really my only complaint.
My wife snagged it a Wal Mart because I told her to grab a figure OVER #54 if she found one. I guess I should have been more clear, because she cannot remember if they had ATRT Pilots and Mustafar Sentrys too.
-
Agreeing with everybody here, it's an excellent figure. It's also my first Prequel Obi-Wan since the first Episode 1 Kenobi. This should be the standard for Jedi figures. If you dislike the plastic robe, I was able to get a VOTC Obi-Wan robe on him, and he looks damn cool. My only gripe would be about the color of the ankle joints, but I can easily look past that since he's SA.
Now, Hasbro, get me an AOTC Obi-Wan just like this one. My Evolutions Anakin needs an SA master!
-
I'm a bit bummed (but not surprised) that Obi Pilot is already starting to pegwarm. It was bound to happen in comparison with the other new figures in the case both being army builders to some extent, but I didn't think it would happen so soon. It seems to be that every Obi is destined for pegwarmer status.
Maybe Hasbro made a mistake branding him as "Pilot" Obi, or even putting him in the blister with the static robes on, instead of behind the figure. Perhaps they needed to show off the excellent SA sculpt he has, and put him in an action pose, similar to how they did the original Clone Wars SA Clones. He's the best Obi by far and deserves better than sitting on a shelf being passed over for repainted clones using inferior action feature-laden tooling.
I did take advantage of his availability to pick up a couple extras for easy customs. Has anyone tested a headswap with the AOTC Outlander Obi head?
-
I think someone did this Custom, Jared... Darth Delicious perhaps? Not sure what head he used though. I know I saw this somewhere recently.
I'm amazed he's warming pegs for you already... He's yet to be seen on pegs by most out here... He was even relatively "rare" at the Toy Show amongst the other scalped items. He can pegwarm all he wants here for me, as I'll be picking extras up randomly for the obligatory Jedi Customs. :)
-
Sadly for such an awesome figure..he's a fat pegwarmer here in Antelope Valley- He's still in 3 stores (10-20+ each a store)
-
Here's the one that Darth Delicious made using the new ROTS Obi Wan, and the head from the new Jedi vs. Sith 5-pk.

I'm surprised this figure isn't selling faster than it is; but it's definitey not a perwarmer in my area (at least not yet).
:P
-
The thing is ..who buys an army of obi-wons....? not only this but he comes out in 4 case assortments; coll.1 wave6,coll1wave6rev.1,coll1wave6rev2,coll1wave6rev3.
So eventually you're likely to notice him pegwarm since he's in every assortment...the atrt's are army builders=they don't stay, the mustafarians are in only one case assortment(rev2)(that I've seen) see EE for case assortments

I hit the 2 WMs in Valencia today, and he's pegwarming in a major way at both of them as well. That's in addition to the Anaheim WM I hit yesterday. TONS of him. Wow.
Nice figure though. Wish you could see his hands a little bit at the ends of his sleeves, but other than that, I think it's a pretty good figure - nice and neutral looking.
-
are you guys serious? He's warming shelves in your area? I wish I'd lived where you guys do! I can't find a single new figure out!
-
I think this weekend, with as much inventory as Walmart recieved of the Obi wave, it's pretty safe to call him a pegwarmer. Enough of them hit at the same time to probably satisfy local demand as well as send the message to the scalpers/hoarders/speculators that there will be plenty to go around.
Hopefully everyone gets to have similar luck finding these guys and then stores will quickly shift to a refresh wave full of clones, otherwise this wave, minus the AT-RT Driver, will be the next Nim Warrior and Wookiee.
Thanks for those pics from Delicious, guys. Looks good. I tried the same thing this morning, and it works like a charm.
-
Well I saw him on Saturday, and they had tons of him (along with the other figures from the wave, minus the AT-RT Driver). I went back to the same store today, and all of the figures were gone - it was back to the regular stock of Nemoidian Warriors and Jedi Masters.
So it must be a South California thing, at least currently, for him to be pegwarming.
-

It is?!? I wish it was pegwarming in my area, that way the eventual clearances (they still have to happen, how else will stores get rid of all of those Neimodians and Mas AmeddA) will effect this figure as well and I'll have a nice army of Jedi fodder awaiting me. :)
-
This is the greatest Obi wan ever! ;D
-
I finally got my mitts on a #55 Obi-Wan today and I can finally concur with what you all have been saying: I am really pleased with this Obi-Wan - great accessories, great articulation, great sculpt!
I can see myself grabbing a second (or more if they go on clearance). They will make great custom fodder, and for sure a great base for an Ep2 Obi-Wan custom!

You guys are killing me! :)
I think part of his pegwarming status has to be the fact that Jedi Fodder's in no short supply right now too. I've noticed the better a figure is overall the more it does tend to move (or at least the longer it moves, and steadier). Customizing has its place I think in the dwindling of specific figures. For instance, astromechs... For all intents and purposes, astromechs are rather dull figures, but a good version of one tends to move no matter how many get out there. Why would that be though?
I have noticed Agen Kolar's one of the faster moving Jedi from ROTS too... Why? I can only imagine it's the robe, the customizing potential... Someone's making Jedi figures I'd think, otherwise it just seems odd that he'd move so much better than some of the other Collection 2 Jedi...
Tonight For the first time since 4/2 though, I can honestly say that Clones were in some level of supply at stores around here. At least Toys R Us had a substantial quantity whereas WM and Target weren't so spiffed up.
Makes me wonder if Hasbro isn't working a little overtime to make TRU look better. They tend to hold their retail hand a bit more than the others I know.
-
The stores around here he hasnt been pegwarming. Which sucks cause I want a few more for customs. :)
-
By some miracle, Obi-Wan #55 is in-stock at the HasbroToyShop.com :o
http://www.hasbrotoyshop.com/ProductsByBrand.htm?BR=495&SBR=219&ID=16420
$6.99 plus shippnig for the desperate...
Jeff
-
I am desperate but I am 6.99 and shipping desperate? Hmmm
???
-
I'll wait...now if the red shocktrooper were in stock as well.... :-X
-
When I checked, the AT-RT Driver was in stock too, but I passed. The local WM is doing a toy reset right now, so I'll just be a little more patient and maybe it'll show there.
-

???
I still think its funny that Hasbro charges more than most retail places.
-
Sadly Hasbro is the cheapest online store. :-\
-
That is sad but I could not bring myself to paying $33 for 4 figures, it is just too much, especially in a movie year. I already took the big hurt ordering some overpriced clone 4-packs and even though they spiced up my diorama, I still feel cheated and raped. :-X
-
Finally a decent Obi-Wan! He looks great dueling Evo Anakin.
-

Wow - having a nice AOTC Obi-Wan like this makes (IMHO) the price of buying another figure and a Jedi vs. Sith battle pack JUST FOR THE HEAD, worth it!
See, now to me, this seems like a complete no brainer. Why not just release the Obi-Wan in the Jedi vs. Separatist five pack that's coming out as this combination?
-
I've added Obi-Wan to the Image Database (http://www.jedidefender.com/gallery/imageFolio.cgi?direct=Collectibles/Modern/Revenge_of_the_Sith/Basic_Figures/55_Obi-Wan_Kenobi_-_Pilot). I still love this figure. :)

Great pics Jared. I'm really looking forward to finding this figure, it looks to be one of the best of the year. Obi-Wan is probably my favorite "main" character of the prequels, and it is nice to see that we're finally getting a quality figure of him. Can't wait to find it. From the looks of the pics, this is a perfect example that Hasbro can give us VOTC style figures at the normal pricepoint (without all the special packaging anyways). Now we just need Hasbro to do the same for the AOTC and TPM versions :P.
-
Finally found him and him alone today at Target.
All I have to say about this figure is...
;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

I couldn't stop posing him fighting with and against Evo Anakin last night. They're a great pair. 8)

I just got the Anakin Evo set today along with another Pilot Obi-Wan, just to maintain a duel between the two... ;D
(http://home.comcast.net/~negatech1/anakinevo2.jpg)
The only problem I'm having with the 2nd Obi-Wan is his ankles are a bit loose so standing up has been a bit problematic for him.
Jeff: great pics in the image db, at first glance of the thumbnails, they look like real publicity shots from ROTS.
-
MMMMmmmmmm Super Articulated Dueling... MMMMmmmmmm ***drool***
Many kudos to Jared's photo-skillz by the way. He's been putting together the highest quality image database on the net I think, and working hard to do it. Many thanks for that kind of work.
-
Man, I can't take it anymore. Where is my Obi Pilot? WHERE?!?!?
-
I just opened a recently purchased Obi Wan pilot, and I have to say...
It sucks.
It really sucks.
In the package with the cloak on, it looks great. Perfect for the scene where Obi Wan appears at the end of the ship ramp to confront Anakin on Mustafar, looking serious in his cloak.
But when you take the cloak off, 2 things jump out at you immediately. His legs from the knee down are WAY too skinny. It really looks quite ridiculous in person. In fact, with his cloak off, Obi Wan also looks way too short. And his legs from the waist down are kinda bow-legged. And then his right arm is also too short, very noticeably shorter than his left arm.
Hasbro has really continued their age-old tradition of doing a **** job on prequel obi wan figures and mace figures here.
My guess is that a lot of you who have been praising this figure haven't had one in your hands yet, because it is really a bigtime disappointment.
Two thumbs down.
-
This is the one and only Obi-Wan figure that I have purchased from ROTS. I think he is the best looking one out of all the others that I have seen. I still prefer Clone Troopers to any of the rest but I still think this is a good figure. I've no complaints.

Oh brother. Did the plastic fumes go to your head? You're making some odd calls here. Arm too short? I have him right here, and it's definitely not any shorter than the other arm. This is the best looking Obi-Wan they've made. The poseability is great. It's funny how we can all see something different in a thing, especially with such drastically different takes on it.
-
Yeah, I couldn't disagree more with you on that Dressel... He's one of my favorite figures. I've even been comparing him to a costume still from ROTS and he's spot-on in every way. The legs, the height appears right (especially next to Evo Ani), the headsculpt... I'm viewing this Obi-Wan as probably one of the best figures in the modern line.... all 10 years or so.
The legs are a LITTLE apart, but not terribly so by any means. He still has a very neutral stance, but is capable of many great poses for combat too. It's currently only rivaled by Clones and some VOTC for my "favorite" figure in my collection.
-

Wow, talk about two different takes on a figure! Mine's not even displayed, and I'd return it if I could.
Different strokes for different folks.
I have to admit though, maybe I was a little harsh comparing it to the EIII Mace Windu, but I stand by everything else I wrote.
:D
-
It happens. :)
I was having some nice in-depth discussion with my gf's kids about Obi-Wan actually while they checked him out this weekend and they're wanting this figure now. I wish I hadn't gotten them the kicking ones for their birthdays. That figure blows... blows hard.
Perhaps Pilot Obi is your RFT? Hmmmm... Interesting.
