Title: The Clone Wars: Best of 2009
Post by: McMetal on December 27, 2009, 07:49 PM
Figured the line deserves its own thread in the appropriate forum.

It's a bit tricky to make a definitive statement because for the most part I am a strict non-opener, but I actually started buying extras this year because some of the swag was so cool.

Best TCW figure: Luminara Unduli

Best TCW vehicle: Octuptarra Droid (finally bought an extra and put it together X-Mas day, what a marvelous design!)

What did you guys really like this past year?

Best Figure(s): Toss up between Yoda (2009), Luminara or the various IG Assassin Droids

Best Vehicle(s): Turbo Tank (for sheer fun factor), Y-wing (for the nostalgic factor), Tank Droid, Octuptarra Droid

Best Figure: IMO it's the Commando Battle Droid, just for the articulation.

Besty Vehicle : I can't decide between the Turbo Tank, Octuparra Droid, the CA Tank Droid, or the Y-Wing. All four are great....

I had to look at the release lists to remember what we've gotten this year, but here's some of my favorites:

Figures: Jawa 2 Pack, Yoda (2009), IG Assassin Droid, Luminara Unduli, Padme (Adventure Gear), Cad Bane

Deluxe: Obi-Wan with Freeco Bike, Dooku with Speeder (for the more articulated Dooku, and another chance at the bike for those who missed it)

Vehicles: Y-Wing, and although I don't have either, I'll put a vote in for the Octuparra Droid and the Turbo Tank.  They do look like a lot of fun.

Overall, a pretty nice year for CW.  If a person (or kid) were collecting just this line alone, it does come out a nice pace and looks like it would be a lot of fun overall for those really enjoying CW.  In some ways it reminds me of what the vintage line was to us as kids, for the kids today.  I've been buying most of the figures myself too, and have been really enjoying the show.

My favorites for 2009:

Basic Figure = Cad Bane - great character, great figure

Deluxe/Multipack = Turbo Tank Support Squad - loved their deco and their guns

Regular Vehicle = Corporate Alliance Tank Droid - about time we got this, I've wanted it since 2005

Giant Vehicle = Turbo Tank - a lot of folks may whine about it, but I love it (my kids do too)

Here are mine:

Figure(s): Cad Bane & Commando Droid (can't really pick one over the other)

Deluxe Set: Obi-Wan w/Freeco Speeder - the speeder is great and the additional articulation Obi-Wan is the way the figure should have been from the start of the line

Battle Pack: Rishi Moon Outpost

Vehicle: Corporate Alliance Tank Droid

Large Vehicle: Y-Wing

Exclusive: Octuparra Droid

Cade Bane tops it for me with the figures.  He can be used flawlessly with the regular ones.

The Y-Wing, Turbo Tank, and Octupura droid were the best vehicles.  Really, it seemed that this year the Clone Wars line got some of the best vehicles all around.

The Turbo Tank or imperial juggernaut is one of the best toys from the clone wars. It is also a vehicle that can fit with OT action figures, because we saw it on Rebellion comics (Dark Horse).

I had a few favorite figures, so in order:
Cad Bane - greatly sculpted, even if it's not SA. Great accessories.
Luminara Unduli - amazing sculpt, great character.
Yoda - proves what Hasbro can do with a realistic Yoda.

I was also pleased w/ the Turbo Tank, it's a very collection-worthy vehicle.
