Galactic Heroes are dead, long live (this version of) Jedi Force. :P

No, these are not like the 6" Jedi Force figures (later called Force Battlers) from 2004-2005, they are a new style of figure. Sort of a mash-up of Fisher Price's Imaginext and the Galactic Heroes. Way better articulation and different price-points.
I can certainly see my boys picking up some of these sets - Han and Chewie to help Imaginext Batman; Darth Vader and Stormtrooper to help the Imaginext Joker. ;) Same with some of the Marvel sets too - they will love to have Spiderman, Batman, and Vader all in essentially the same scale/style.

Hate to say it, but it's a good idea.

OK, I think I've managed to get past the shock of losing my beloved Galactic Heroes line and am actually getting excited about this new line. It's cool to see that they're reusing some GH ships for the Jedi Force line.
Jeff did they allow you to hold the figures? You mentioned improved articulation, how much do they actually have? I've never checked out the Imaginext line, so I'm a bit of a noob regarding this style of figures.
And how about price point? Did they mention any MSRPs to you?
BTW, great pics! I linked to your flikr account from my blog. 8)

Most definitely no, in fact they have security all over the place to keep you from touching things.

Very similar to the current Imaginext figures, basic 7 point articulation: Neck, ball-joint shoulders, wrists, leg/hip. Sometimes more (waist), sometimes less (like R2 and Yoda).

No mention of price, but since they are designed to be in the same aisle and compete with Imaginext. I imagine the Playskool pricing will match up nicely with the Fisher Price Imaginext Pricing, which goes something like this -
$5.99-$7.99 for the figure 2-packs
$9.99-$11.99 for the small vehicles
$17.99-$21.99 for the large vehicle sets
$39.99 - $44.99 for the large playsets

I wouldn't be surprised if Star Wars fans had to pay a premium to get their kids started young.
That said I am not opposed to picking up select pieces anyway. :P

OK, I guess my opinion is mellowing on these, a bit. I really liked the GH line, but if some of the ships are going to be reused GH molds (I didn't really believe it until I compared the yellow Jedi fighter shown at TF to the existing GH one) or atleast vaguely compatible, I see a few I'll be picking up (is it too much to hope that they'll "reuse" to AT-ST mold as part of Jedi Force? Yes, but I can hope...). I'm still not excited about the figures, but I'm a bit outside Hasbro's target demo, so maybe my boys will like them...
I guess its positive that Hasbro is still looking for ways to renew interest in SW toys, right?

Thanks for all the great info Jeff.

Now there's an image. SW Fanboy taken down by security. Oh, a video like that would go viral instantly.

I think Colin will have a complete collection of these.
It might keep him out of my office/collection room when he becomes mobile. :D

I think there's a picture of practically just a security dude in our coverage somewhere... earpiece and everything. It's like protecting the president since the pilferring of a prototype happened a while back I guess.

Why is Han wearing a hair dryer?

Hmmmm, at first I was bummed by the news of this line, but maybe they will make a regular TIE fighter that we can use with our GH figures- the landspeeder looks promising.
-
Received an e-mail from Entertainment Earth this morning and wave 1 is in stock!
-
These are far better than the GH line but still fall well short of anything I'd call good. I'm just glad they don't look like they're having a crap.

For anyone still interested in this line, I spotted the new Vader's TIE a couple weeks ago at Target - I think it's new, anyway. I didn't notice any new figure 2-packs though, and can't even recall what's still on tap for this line at this point, if anything. Anyone else remember? I've been grabbing the OT pieces from this line, much like its GH predecessor. Makes for good play fodder for the nephews when they come over. Does anyone recall if this TIE is the same as the prior one in the GH line? I should probably figure that out before I mistakenly nab a duplicate ship here.
-
I'm really late to chime in here, but Vader's TIE is different from the GH release. If I remember correctly from Hasbro's images, they redesigned the body so that it can spin in your hand. Otherwise, I believe it is basically the same size and a similar sculpt.

A shot of Commando Luke on Speeder for this line showed up on Scum's front page today.
Here's hoping Playskool/Hasbro milks the bike for all it's worth with Scout Trooper (C'mon), Leia and Ewok versions.

Anyone buying these? If so, a couple new sets shown at Toy Fair:

I might pick these up for Colin.

Logan has a bunch of these manning the ImagiNext pirate ship. Too bad these figs all have different peg holes on the feet. Love that new Jabba set.
-
Kohl's has an exclusive Endor set with ATST, Speeder Bike and some figs. Really neat looking, but $60
-
Nothing at Kohl's is full price, ever. There is always at least a 15% coupon available and most times 30% is not unheard of. That would be in addition to the sales that are constant. I bought Logan a Thomas Trackmaster set there that was priced at %79 and after a series of discounts got it for around $25 (just one train alone is "worth" around $10). Bargains can definitely be found there.

Has anyone found the larger scale Darth Vader yet?
