The Vintage Collection / Re: Brian's Toy Exclusive - Jocasta Nu
« on: July 19, 2012, 08:14 PM »
It's interesting...collectively, Star Wars collectors aren't very fond of Brian's Toys (and the practice of scalping) for a variety of reasons, yet, mysteriously, Brian's Toys continues to strive....and mysteriously, people still place their orders for a figure of that old bitty, and do so with a smile.

Hey!  What are you doing here?

Anybody else having a tough time finding a movie version of Cap?  I figured he'd be somewhat of a pegwarmer, so I put off picking one up when the line first hit.  But now all I see is the Super Shield version and an occasional rocket launcher concept version.  I've seen way more unmasked rocket launcher versions than I have movie versions lately.

From the sound of things, even if you do plan on attending SDCC, you've also got to plan on doing just about nothing else but trying to get the exclusives.  My little brother goes every year, and he couldn't even get tickets to get in line for Hasbro stuff for a couple of days.  Thankfully he was able to finally get through and get me the Marvel Universe Masters of Evil set, but by then, both versions of Jinx were sold out.

I probably would have committed seppuku if I'd missed out on Sgt. Slaughter, Business Suit Cobra Commander, and especially Zarana, but as much as I'd love a classic Red Jinx, I can live without this exclusive.  The character will be getting a movie version eventually, and that will work for me.  No way I'd pay a secondary market premium for this one.

Thank goodness my little bro picked me up a MOE pack at SDCC, because those came and went before I checked.  Missed out on Jinx, though.  Bummer about that, but am excited to get Baron Zemo.

2012 Digital Comic Exclusive will be Marvel Universe Old Man Logan with baby Hulk. This will be offered at NYCC when you sign up for Marvel's Digital Comics.

Hulk baby is a repaint of the Luke/Leia baby from TSC/TAC Obi-Wan & Bail figures  :D

That's quite a coincidence, considering the subject of my latest Marvel Universe Photonovel....

Been workin' on a little stretchy-twisty-headed Reed Richards action.

I've been tinkering with a few things (chopping up old Legends and FF Movie figs, even the Superhero Sqaud version), trying to make a stretchy Mr. Fantastic, but nothing that looks decent.  I'd love to give him one or two stretched out arms...any tips?

Looks like some cool stuff is coming down the pike...Hercules, Puck, Scarlet Witch, She-Hulk, etc.  They're putting She-Hulk in a comic 2-pack with Wolverine; I wish they'd do the same thing and get Vision back out there with the Scarlet Witch in a 2-pack.  That's a no brainer that won't happen.

From the Marvelous News site's pictures, there were some blurry pictures of Rogue, but I couldn't tell if she's a single carded figure or in a pack that has four guys I've already got.

Marvel Digital Comics is running a promotion where you can get 30% off an annual subscription and you get an unmasked Dr. Doom figure free (for $5.17 S&H).  The fig is the standard Doom body with a Steve Rogers Cap head and the removable Infinity Gauntlet that came with Adam Warlock from the Thanos 2-pack.  Link to subscribe is here:  http://marvel.com/victorvondoom

Saw Spider-Man and loved it.  I liked the Raimi ones a lot, especially the second one, but I think I actually preferred this one.  Really good.

And does anybody have any interest in those little dinky figurines?  Seems like such a waste of resources.

Looking at most of the convention pictures, it looks like the imagination well ran pretty dry...everything is ninja, zombie, or zombie ninja.  The updated classic characters are the only things I'd have been interested in, and they'll probably never see the light of day.  The fact that Kwinn got as far as he did and is unlikely to see a release is depressing.

To be fair, those DKR figures are basically Happy Meal toys...total garbage.
