Yep, I'd agree with that assessment.  Too bad Brodeur will be standing on his head tonight.   :-*

Oh sure, when I'm looking for a Pierce you can't find one (truly an unlikely story - can't find a Celtic figure in La La land).  But when Minnesota boy wants a baseball fig, you find it lickety split.  Sure, fine, I get it.  Staff first :-* ;D

Sith Lord Cosmo, what do you collect in this line?

SLC, you have the same name at sportspicksarena and spawn?  I'm not there all that much, but I don't remember seeing the same username.  What McFarlane do you collect?  There's a thread around here somewhere...

Saga '02-'04 / New case assortments available online
« on: June 2, 2003, 04:11 PM »
Not sure about the sponsors of this site, but my regular online retailer has the following available today:

Collection 1, Wave 16
4 each of Anakin Skywalker Pilot,Scout Clone Trooper,Yoda w/ Hover Chair. ETA is June/July 2003.

Collection 2, Wave 17
(2) Waitress Droid, (2) Night Club Alien, (2)Darth Sidious, (1) Luke Skywalker, (1)Darth Vader, (1) Wat Tambor, (1) Colman Trebor, (1) Ashla and Jempa, (1)Archive Droid. Release is August 2003.

If anyone knows of details or pics of the figs, help would be appreciated.  I grabbed wave 17 as it should be easy to unload some of those duplicates.

Wave 16 is surprising to me.  Was the Yoda/chair figure that hard to find that it needs to be four to a case?  And Anakin pilot?  Huh?  Clone Wars?  Sorry, I know I should remember this, but I don't.  I'd be happy to have one Yoda, one Anakin and the four scout clones, but not so keen on trying to unload the remainders.  Anyone interested in splitting (Scott?)

The Original Trilogy / Re: Original Trilogy on bootleg DVD
« on: June 2, 2003, 01:58 PM »
Nope, I don't have them, but wish I did.  More so now that my daughter is starting to like them.  DVD's allow for jumping to specific scenes (as you all know) much more easily, truly a benefit with a 3 year old around.  I'll likely break down soon and get them.

I suppose that answers the question regarding for or against.  Hey, Lucas has had ample opportunity to release them.  I would buy the official product the first day it was out, but it's not out and I really don't expect it until 2006 in a big old boxed set, possibly 2007 allowing him to reap the profits of a solo release of Episode III.

I believe olde Jorg has said only the special editions will be on DVD as well, so that may further push me.  I'm not nearly so opposed to the special editions as lots of folks (quickdraw McGraw not withstanding) but for the nostalgia appeal.

I'd pay about $50 US shipped.  That puts it right in line with single DVD's in Canada, price wise.

Thanks Cory.  Lots of the other Pred to be found (well, 2 on the pegs for a couple of days) but no luck with that one.  Love that oozing green blood.

Need to find the wife a Trinity figure.

I swear, I'm going to turn her into a collector yet.  She works in the Phys Ed faculty at the local University so I gave her a white Vick already.  Trying to find a black Vick as well.  Will get her a Patrick Roy when NHL5 comes out and then add in a Trinity.  The path to the dark side is not always so clear...

Power of the Jedi / Re: Biker Scout - Clean Version
« on: June 2, 2003, 01:30 PM »
Early shipments were clean for us, later were dirty.  I grabbed a couple of clean, but traded one away, so I only have one remaining.

I would like to have many clean versions (hint, troop builder set) for the shuttle diorama, but not too be.  Otherwise I just imagine the Emperor zapping all the scouts that couldn't be bothered to clean up for inspection.  Terrible mess he makes.

Power of the Force 2 / Re: is my price too hight?
« on: June 2, 2003, 01:24 PM »
Very wise move Hung.  I must admit to being surprised how cheap things are right now.  Had I known that a year ago, well, not much would have changed, but some things I would have held off on.

Nope, no way I'm parting with more Canadian Pesos for this.  Like Brad, I'm hoping it will make its way to me eventually.  Like Snively up there if the raid and more lightsaber duel footage go up, that is the ultimate in betrayal.  Put the crap on the site along with good stuff, but put out the great, exciting footage with the DVD's.  Those scenes better show up in the 10-box set.   >:(

Saga '02-'04 / Re: JD poll results are in: Most wanted VEHICLE!
« on: June 2, 2003, 12:43 PM »
OK, assuming a relatively to scale (skiff comparison), no power F/X type sail barge, opening side panels, removable roof, etc.  What is this thing going to cost.

With a shuttle running at around $100-150 US, about the same, maybe a little more?  Call it $125?  What do you think?

I'll vote for the Imperials as well.  Multipose snowtroopers would be uber cool.

Biker scouts would be a nice addition to my little Ewok barbeque diorama.  Bunch of biker scouts roasting Ewoks on a spit with the heat coming out of the back of the speeder bikes.  Removable helmet biker scouts would be very helpful for that ;) ;D

Vintage Kenner / Re: Who collects vintage?
« on: June 2, 2003, 12:36 PM »
Thanks for the words TopJedi.  In time, I may begin.  So many other things of interest though (Kubricks, Master Replicas, back filling the Riddell helmets) and only so much cash ;)

You are however wrong about Ewoks.  Vile little things leaving fur everywhere, eating cats.  Terrible house guests they are.  All Ewoks must die.  Simple as that. ;D

What benefit would it have if you did?  Would you get some satisfaction out of it?  Would there be a point other than you can?

The deal is that Philip is responsible for the site and as such, legally responsible for the content.  I do not agree with lots of what RS is doing right now, but the content that may be deemed offensive, whether you think so or not, is Philip's responsibility.  That the words "Japs" and "Nazis" are deemed contextually offensive or a liability risk is not at all unusual.  Is it correct?  Nope, not necessarily, but hey, run your own site, make your own rules.  When the Japanese veterans society lawyer sends you a letter regarding the "harmful content" of your site, you can take the risk associated with your decision.  Similarly when the Jewish community gets up in arms (or the non-Nazi German community is offended) you can bear the brunt of their anger.

Are those events happening?  Nope, I seriously doubt it, but in the litigenous US they easily could.  The point is not what you find offensive, it's what the site owner finds offensive.  Try the same stunts at boards you remain fond of and see how long your behaviour is tolerated.

That said, I'm not much of a fan of RS and haven't been for quite a while.  It's been far too juvenile for this old man for too long.  It's sad, but I've never seen the point of pouring gasoline on an open flame.
