I'm not sure how accurate this piece of news is, since it comes from another site, but I feel it may be worth sharing anyway.
Anyway, they're saying that this fall, Sam's will be getting two exclusive sets. The first is a repackaged Mustafar playset with 4 Clones. The types of Clones are not yet known. The second is an ARC-170 with 3 Clone Pilots and an Astromech droid. Both sets will be $30.
IF this is true, I'm definately getting the ARC, possibly the Mustafar set too, depending on what Clones they pack in.

Even with the extra Clones, I'm still not that interested in the Playset.
But the ARC-170 with extra Clones & Astromech, now that's a great deal. Assuming they charge the same price as current retail for the regular ARC-170.
-
For people that don't already have these toys, that's a great deal. Both the playset and the ARC-170 are selling everywhere else for 30 dollars on their own, so 30 dollars for the existing toy and 4 figures? Even if this is more "other site" (I like what you did there, Diddly) bull****, it really isn't such a bad idea.
Given that most Sam's Club exclusives tend to be existing stuff that is simply packaged together (with little or no new stuff included that you can't get elsewhere), it wouldn't surprise me if this was along the lines of the OTC Millennium Falcon set (with the figures in a box attached to the top). Still, an ARC-170 with three Clone Pilots and an Astromech (I'm thinking it would be G9), and a Mustafar set with four Clones (possibly 4 Shocktroopers?) AND the already included Obi-Wan and Anakin figures are both really good deals.
In fact, the Mustafar set with 4 Clones sounds like an awesome (pardon the Hasbro hyperbole) Christmas gift for charity. Imagine waking up on Christmas morning and having an entire play environment AND the two main characters AND 4 other bad guys all at once! Very cool, I think. :)
Again, though, this is all contingent on you-know-where not blowing you-know-what up everyone's you-know-which for the millionth time. ::)
-
I've heard a bit of interesting news about Sam's Club lately that goes beyond this stuff, but I'm not surprised to hear Star Wars in there too. They've been doing stuff like this every now and then so that's a good thing.
I'm curious if the figures will be different though... THAT will suck.
-
Getting four Clones (red or white) would easily sell me on the Mustafar set.
And if the Pilots included with the ARC are black ones, I'll pick up another one of those. You can never have too many Clones. ;)
Now I just hope this is true.
-
For the most part I do not buy 99% of the vehicles that come out anymore, though my son will buy some. I have liked the ARC 170 but not for a plain #30. However, at Sam's for that price and 4 figures, I may have to consider that. How much do you want to bet the R2 figure is like Obi Wan's Jedi Fighter one, basically the top and side and it just slides into position!
-
I will definitely buy these at whatever price they charge, plus the 10% mark-up for not being a member (I refuse to join Sams Club when I'm already a BJ's member).
I'm hoping that the Mustafar Playset will just be packaged with #6 Shocktrooper repaints and the ARC-170 will be packaged with R4-G9 and three gray or black pilots. That way, there won't be any need for me to buy openers of either. Although, the fact that figures are now $6 each and both sets come with four, that means you're really only paying $6 for an ARC-170 or the Mustafar playset. Not a bad deal.
-
This sounds fantastic, considering I don't have the ARC-170 or Mustafar yet.
But this sounds like too good of a bargain to be true. (http://www.cheesebuerger.de/images/smilie/konfus/a015.gif)
-
Agreed.
I would buy it just for the clones and ship for the same price of the ship.
Although it seems to go to be true, I think it might be accurate. When Sam's offered the Falcon last year with 5 (?) figures it was price at 54.99, same as the Falcon by itself elsewhere (at least that is what I remember, wasn't it?). So army builders and cool ship lovers might get lucky this year.
Bring on the clones ;D
-
i should've waited to get the ARC :-[ but who knew on 4/2 that the ARC would be a shelf warmer and the Gunship no where to be found :-\
-
Well once i see pics, i will consider them.
-
I would not mind having another ARC-170 with all it's figures. I hope at least that the astromech droid is a painted unlike any we already have. I think that may be too much to hope for where the pilots are concerned but even a new helmet logo for them would be cool. Three black Clone Pilots would rock the world. :)
-
I think they should skip the Mustafar playset and give us the Gunship with clones. ;D

Now that's a very good ideal. :)
-
Sam's Club should get army builder packs on the cheap... SA Clones in a single box for on the low price side. Word is they're doing that with another toy line, so I'd think it should happen with Hasbro too. Help get those variants out there to those who want them in droves.
-
Hopefully with these items being exclusives, coupled with the fact that you must be a member to get into Sam's, (unless you get a free pass or one-day coupon) these will be remotely easy for most to attain. Cuz I'm tellin ya, with four figures included, these are an incedible deal!
-
Any ideals on when the hunt should start for these?
-
Time to get to Sam's Club... look what turned up in a MO Sam's Club (and was immediately put on eBay (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=5997519126&ssPageName=STRK:MEWA:IT) ::)):

The Mustafar set should be arriving shortly as well...
and a quick addition:
From the Sam's Computers...
HASBRO STAR WARS FIGHTER & PLAYSET ASSORTMENT
Item: 703736
Price: $29.73
-
Now that is a deal ;D
-
Which clones are they? They don't look like #41 or #6. They look like the Target clones minus the emblems. :(
-
How do I become a member? I live in Canada and am going to the states in a week or so and would love to get one. Any info would be cool thanks.

If you are just going down to the USA for a bit, you can sometimes get 1-day freebie memberships to "try it before you buy it", so I would check with the store first before buying a full membership...

Jeff's right.
It depends on the individual store.
Some are like the Pentagon when it comes to entry, others could care less.
-
cool thanks for the tips.
-
Two plain white clones and only one pilot? That seems rather odd to me.
What astromech is that? the ROTS preview one?
If the figures are 100% repacks as opposed to being some new variation (i.e. the Target SA Clone w/o any emblems) then I'm only going to get one of these for the packaging variation.
The Sams Club by me charges a bit extra to go buy something if you're not a member. I think it's like 10% more or something. Being that I only shop that Sams Club when they have exclusives like this, I'm willing to take the 10% hit.

I might be wrong, but it almost looks like the ROTS #7 R2-D2 figure. Very weird. I would have thought an ARC-170 with a generic repainted astromech and three Clone Pilots would have made more sense, but oh well.
As for the Clones, I'm not sure what they are (I don't have that good of an eye to tell with the glare and the fuzzy photo), but the Target Clone was a ROTS Clone head slapped on a Clone Wars SA Clone body (with paint apps), so they could have just used that one again as well for this, since all other Clone SA bodies were being utilized for the Chevron Gas Station exclusive Oil Slick Clone Trooper. :)
-
Hope the Mustafar set comes with at least 2 red shocktroopers. I have a better chance getting those clones that way than the regular carded versions.
-
Hopefully I can get in there without the membership. I had one once, but now it's $30 to join. Bleh.
And I hope the Mustafar set has some Shocktroopers in it. Hell, I'd buy it if it had regular white Clones, but I'd really like Shocktroopers.
Knowing Hasbro, the Mustafar set will come with a Pilot or two as well. ::)

Didn't ya hear? Everything is coming with a clone pilot from now on, the Plo Koon Fighter, the Target Steath trooper, the final 12.... :P
-
They were going to do bonus holographic figures but due overstock the assortments will be accompanied by either a clone pilot or a crappy neomiodian warrior. :P
-
I like it and I will get one for the package variation.
-
Well I went to Sam's today and saw no sign of these babies. They were reorganizing the store though, so that could be a reason why they didn't have any.
Anybody else seen any of these?
-
Just a heads-up to those of you who are looking for the ARC-170 set and don't have a Sam's Club membership: The new Wal-Mart sales circular that started being sent out this week has a "one day pass" coupon on the back page for nonmember entry into a Sam's Club.
So if this is something you really want to look out for and you're lamenting your lack of a SC membership, the next time you're in Wal-Mart, grab one of their sales circulars and there you go. :)
-
At RebelScum they hav pics of the ARC and Mustafar Playset w/ the bonus figures. ARC includes a Clone Pilot, 2 SA Clone Troopers, and the first ROTS Artoo. the Mustafar Playset includes 4 SA Clone Troopers.
-
Wow! Those are very good deals on both the ARC and especially that Mustafar Set. $29.99 plus the figs. Hmmmmm...
-
At least we can see enough detail to know that these are the #41 clones. In the initial pictures, I couldn't see the dirt detail and thought they might be CW SA bodies with ROTS helmets. Whew!
-
Anyone know if either of these sets has started to show up in stores yet?
-
Both of the Sam's Club stores I've been in have a pallet FULL of these things. They've had them for about a month now. They're not flying off the shelf by any means but are selling slowly but surely.
-
My local Sam's (four of them) had them in and they sold out but samsclub.com still has them in stock.
-
I haven't been able to check my local Sams Club for these. I would like to get them over the normal versions to get some extra figures and build up my clone trooper infantry forces.
-
I was able to pick up the Sam's ARC-170 back around the 15th of October and I'm very glad that I did. :) It is one sweet set at a very sweet price. 8) For the moment at least, they still seem to be pretty easy to find but starting tomorrow, all bets are off. ::)
