Vintage Kenner / Re: Who collects vintage?
« on: June 2, 2003, 01:52 AM »
Vintage bad, tree pretty.  Oh, sorry, Buffy-ism there.

No to vintage, at least not yet.  I'm sort of hanging around stalking the forum but really know diddly squat about the fits.  Some I genuinely don't like, but since I broke my completionist ways, that's not such a big problem.  My main worry is simply getting taken on ebay.  Given that ebay functions on a competitive basis, I'm not likely to be able to score any superb bargains.  Oh well, perhaps in time.  I suspect I would never own a vintage Ewok though. ;)

I wanted to be Mara Jade when I joined CSW but it was taken so I went with her ship instead and I used it ever since because it was never taken anywhere else except theforce.net (where I am LadyStar because she's a character I drew back when I was a little girl - think Storm/Catwomen and you know what she looks like as well as her super powers  :) ).

That sounds pretty cool for a character.  Send me some pics for my daughter ;)

Morgbug - Morg is taken from Borg, a mentality some of my fellow moderators and I were accused of having at a site I used to moderate at.  Moderator + Borg = Morg.  Bug is in relation to my career of choice (yes, I said choice) - entomologist, ergo, bug.

And for that reason alone, Jersey MUST prevail.  Well, that and I'll feel fully justified starting a thread with all of Matt's quotes regarding the Ducks and the Lakers :-*

Dang, that's the predator I can't get my hands on.   >:(

I also want to get my wife a Matrix figure, but I haven't seen them up here yet.  Need to start slipping collectibles into her office to justify my own purchases ;), doncha know?

The McFarlane stuff is really amazing quality and detail.  Me like.

I just feel so much better now.   ;D  Well, not as lonely anyway.  Last three things through the door were a case of figs (hey, I count it as 1), a Hobgoblin (which my daughter loves - so much for hiding it) and a Marvel Legends Magneto.  Heh. :-*

Heh, must be time for a post from the dark side.  Now, before y'all go gettin' your knickers in a knot, I trade fairly and by the given rules of whatever board happens to be the origin of the trade.

No one here has responded with respect to McFarlane sportspicks.  Totally, absolutely different world.  The rules of value there are governed by ebay (price/value wise).  Like any other board, I'll help folks out and have had the same in return.  Largely, I am now trading with guys that I know from previous trades and we try to match up as best we can.  The most scandalous trade I made was a Saints Ricky Williams for 2 hockey variants :o  Anyone from the spawn board that hear's that trade thinks I'm nuts.  Whatever.

I have also traded variant figs for multiple SW items.  Typically I ask for 3 SW figs for a single variant, so I am asking $15 for $10 worth of "value".  The catch is that is the way those boards work.  I have yet to sell anything on ebay.

As far as chase figs like Doombot, no mask Wolverine or gold Ironman, hey, I'd buy two if I found them.  Dain Bramage and I have an agreement to trade them fairly to each other to help one another out.  If I found multiples, I'd grab them for other board members around here or elsewhere that I know.  That seems contrary to the philosophy of many around here.  I used to scoff at the thought of scalpers buying SW stuff around where I am.  Ebay isn't much of a market right now nor is there locally.  That was until I got into McFarlane stuff.  Hell, I know the scalpers by name and I'll be damned if I'd leave something for them to drag off to the local flea market.  Am I taking it away from a kid or other collector?  Yep, but they can find me on multiple boards and I'll help everyone out.  Can't do much about the kid, but no way a schoolkid is going to score a chase figure on a weekday.  Stocking at our stores is overnight or early am, so collectors and scalpers are out en masse early.

Mmm, haggis.

Greetings sir.

You will not find Patty anywhere, I assure you.  She is here helping my wife clean my star wars room.  With a toothbrush.  Matt seems to have forgotten that he sent her here, but she is indeed.  Have you passed me in post counts yet? ;)
