Watto's Junk Yard / Re: Metallica Rant

Thomas,
I couldn't agree with you more about Maiden and Priest.  I stopped going to see Maiden after the Powerslave tour and really never bought another album after that point, other than "Best of" types.

I can only presume you have seen the movie Rock Star.  Did you enjoy it?  Halford was indeed Priest, one and the same.  Having never been at a Priest concert anywhere but in the first four rows, his revelation was a tad disturbing (surprising), but I could have cared less about his orientation and wish he had stayed with the band.  Again, another band I live in the past with.

AC/DC remains solid in my opinion.  Granted it's some 20+ years since Back in Black, but they are hanging in there with some decent tunes from Razor's edge.  I think I could to some degree accept an argument that they are more rock than metal, but that may well only be because metal seems to have sped up and they remained the same.  Classic metal versus speed metal if you will.

Duly noted.

At least until I pick up the variant for ya. ;)

I might have to get one too, just to go along with the two variants I can't unload.  Baseball sucks, well, the figures anyway.  Right Jim?

I was hoping the first Twin would be Cory Koskie, but not to be.  Maybe they'll do a Puckett in the legends line.  Of course the body shape would preclude using the mold again for another player, so maybe not.

Dang, I thought it was going to be an announcement for the She-Hulk movie :-\

Cool link.  We have a youth encouragement committee up here that does talks just like that guy.  sounds like he's pretty good at what he does too.

Bug's rock, but wouldn't you know it, my daughter is afraid of them.  Heh, that will change ;)

That is way to many Hulk figures. Imagine if every Walmart had that many in each store in your city, you could actually melt down all the figures & make a real life size Hulk figure & still have some plastic left to make Brent a She Hulk figure.   ;D

hmmm, customizing.... :-*

Do we have any clue where these will be distributed?  Non-US I understand, but is Canada still a different country?  I know the first three cleared at Walmart, but they did sell a ton initially, so no worse than many other items.  Or am I just living in a fantasy world? 8)

The Original Trilogy / Where'd the AT-AT go?
« on: May 20, 2003, 12:21 AM »
ROTJ, Vader's shuttle is landing on Endor.  AT-AT can easily be seen slogging along in front of the landing platform.

Why wasn't it there to crush those pesky little Ewoks? ;)

Whew, pulled one out today :-\  Going back to Jersey does not make me feel comfortable.

Ducks Devils would be interesting, but horridly boring (I said that already, right?) but I'd like to see the Sens in there.  Even in losing, Brodeur looked pretty good tonight.

Commercialization sucks, don't it?  Saw a funny set up with the McFarlane Metallica figs.  Somebody had customized them wearing "Napster sucks" t-shirts.

I like Metallica.  I first saw them back in the early 80's (I'll try to find the stub) at a place called the Playhouse theater.  It held 1400 people :o  I was wearing a jean jacket, ergo, I was the only person not wearing black.

I am a banger from way back.  Though I find it entertaining to think that Metal has gone away (seems my night to disagree with Scott ;)).  I tend to think of it as evolving.  It's really quite funny to think of bands like Zeppelin, Deep Purple and others as "heavy metal" but in their respective day, they were it.  Parents loathed them, governments feared them.  I consider Pearl Jam, Nirvana and the like to essentially be metal.  Yeah, I know, grunge, but the difference would exactly be what?  Driving guitars comprised of about four chords, heavy bass and thundering drums.  Now, what does that describe?

Other bands I love (in no particular order):

Maiden
Priest
Sum41
AC/DC
Green Day
GNR
Deep Purple
Kiss...

If I haven't gained anything else from this thread, I have come to realize that Canadian men look like the most passive, normal men on the face of the Earth.

But then you peel back that handsome exterior to see their Star Wars nerdy-ness, and it's all downhill from there.  ;)

Heh. ;)

Watto's Junk Yard / Re: Rank the Star Wars movies!
« on: May 19, 2003, 11:56 PM »
Hey, I liked AOTC but when even my wife says this looks like The Sound of Music, you know a grievous plot error has been made.  Haydn was perfect, brooding and whiny.  Dooku was perfect, calmly evil.  The effects were interesting, more Jedi, cool battles.  But geez, 45 minutes or so for the love to develop?  I want my Star Wars packed with action and schlock.  Love interest development gets 10 minutes.  Total.  Tops.  For 3 movies.

RE: ANH - blasphemy is all I can say to you punk. ;)

Blah, blah, blah.  Could they make anymore long winded speeches?  Sheesh.  Good movie overall, worth seeing.  Leave feeling very depressed, just as after the first.  Cool effects.

Could be an expensive year next year for DVD's.  Probably a four pack (5?) for The Matrix series and what do you figure, about a 15 pack for LOTR? ::)

I know, some of you non-American folks are writhing in pure ecstasy, getting to watch the U.S. collectors squirm at lack of availability for once!  So enjoy the show fellas...   :-*

If you're patient, she will come...   8)

You got that right, Bub.   ;D  No offense meant, it's just nice to have company for once. :-*
