Title: So I'm turning 30 this year...
Post by: JesseVader08 on September 17, 2005, 03:02 AM
... And I need to figure out a unique way to celebrate this.

I've been warning my wife since the day I turned 29 that I would likely be doing something pretty stupid when I turned 30.  And I'd hate to let her down.  :D

For the first 6 months I bugged her that I was going to buy my dream car, a 1970 Olds 442 Convertible, but I'm having second thoughts.  (Of course, the money involved to get my hands on a car like that is playing a small role  :-\).

So, any ideas?

Congratulations.  You could:

1.  go skydiving
2.  get a tattoo
3.  go on an adventure/trip (i.e. backpack/bike in a foreign country)
4.  go on a mission -- i.e. go on a church trip to a third-world country -- or for that matter the Gulf Coast -- and help build a house
5.  Have a baby ;D

1.  go skydiving

That's the first thing I was going to say.

Also be sure and have a big party with all your friends, lots of booze and puking, and wild monkey sex. Hell, after 30 you won't be able handle any of that anymore. :P

Sell your collection. That could be considered doing something stupid. :P

Which has been known to lead to No. 5. on my list:

Have a baby ;D

I'm a pretty mild mannered guy, and am 28 now (feel like I'm 18 still though), so I really don't have any "crazy" ideas.  My idea of fun would be an extra week vacation from work.   ;)

 :P

Hmmm... some good ideas in here.

Except for the sky diving.  I'm pretty sure my heart would either stop instantly or simply explode when I jumped out of the plane.  I'm a wimp when it comes to that.   :-[

But mountain climbing, getting a tattoo, those sound great.  Oh, and wild monkey sex too.   ;)

As for the baby, I've got a beautiful 4 year old girl, but I'm not sure I'm ready for another.  Of course, it's debatable if I was ready for the first one.   ;D

Keep the ideas coming!

For my 30th, I went with about 10 friends to Vegas and we had a weekend party. My actual birthday was on Monday I think, so by the time that rolled around it was time for the "nice dinner out" portion of the trip.  But before that, we managed to have all sorts of fun.

Some things you can do in Vegas that most people don't usually think of:

Rent exotic cars and drive them as fast as you want out in the desert.

Extreme sports like Bungee, skydiving, racing, shooting ranges, etc, etc are all a quick drive away. Check out those tourist places on the strip for great ideas on those.

BTW...indoor skydiving (a huge fan) is also something they have there.

Plus..there are all the stupid things you can do in any other town. Tattoos, bars, etc, etc.

And...of course, what happens there stays there.  ;D

You could buy a gun.

I know Canada has very strict firearms regulations, but provided the right paperwork goes through, you could get yourself a pretty sweet set-up, Jesse.

Take a few friends to the range and a bottle of Beefeater, and your insured a good time, and a trip to the E.R. ;D

I don't think Canadians say "Ya'll." That's Charollete talk. ;)

Up North they'd most likey say "Hey, watch what I'm aboot to do, eh?" ;D

I skydived back in the 80's and you don't jump out of a plane, they kick your ass out!  :P

Seriously tho, you just hang from the strut of the wing so you have to get out which you are assisted by the instructor and they tell you to let go. If I ever have the chance to do it again I would. It's one hell of a rush.  8)

Pictures below are just for an illustration.

You may want to try a champagne hot air balloon. Peacefull and relaxing.  8)

If you have gliding in your neck of the woods, do it. Soaring in a sailplane is an enjoyable experience. Damn I miss my youth.  :'(

And I'll hold you beer and watch eh!  ;)
