Believe me I'm incredibly happy they didn't take him...  :)  irregardless of how our season ends (it'll end bad irregardless), I don't want him getting hurt at the Olympics...  I'm a huge detractor of any NHL'er playing in the Olympics though, and I just don't find the games quite as entertaining.  I liked the youthful games is all though and feel these players have obligations to their respective city's teams first.

I'm shocked at the final 4 really...  I'd have never guessed that...  I'm ready for the NHL to be back and this to be over though, even if I don't have much to look forward to as a Penguin's fan. :)

That's right Jesse. We are not like them. However, I do know some SW collectors who are like the HW guys though.  >:( One of them is a huge sandtrooper guy.

Ran into a couple at C3, yeah...  Still, I mean there seems to be a big age gap (averaging just what I observe here) between the Hot Wheels guys and Star Wars guys...  there's also a general sense, at least around boards like here and some others, that this isn't a for-profit gig for us...  I know that's not what a lot of the remaining oldies at Rebelscum are like either like the staff or some of the members, though I notice more and more that the membership there is plagued by scalpers irregardless of how many get banned.  One just got banned tonight for outing himself as scalping then trying to smooth it over (I think he got banned anyway).

When I see those Hot Wheels guys they're like ravenous animals though and you can almost see the dollar signs in their eyes like a cartoon.  Star Wars guys I run into (despite the odd opportunistic prickball I run into) are usually strolling the aisles but a HW freak will knock down his own mother to get the "chase" UGO with the fireflame paintjob or whatever the hell they're after.   ::)

And they smell, but I can't go to a con anywhere without noticing that people who collect toys attract a lot of people who have an aversion to soap and water, and likely deoderant too.

A guy looking for Hot Wheels one night that left the aisle literally left a smell trail from where he was in the toys to where he went to get out the store's front doors.  It lingered like a fart in a car too, like poppie on Seinfeld.  It just sorta funked everything up.  I've stunk, but not to the point my odor stuck to everything I was near...  Cat piss smelled more pleasant than the funk permeating from that knucklehead.  It literally made me ill.

Revenge of the Sith / Re: TRU 2-pks
« on: February 22, 2006, 03:20 AM »
Nabbed a 2-pack that had Ask Aak and a Wookiee heavy Gunner.  Only one I saw at two TRU's tonight too, I'm a bit bummed, but happy to have gotten one more.

Noticed too that my figure I got tonight is a LOT greyer than the other one I had...  Like, to the point it seems more than just a random paint app difference, I dunno.

I heard a couple TRU's in the area got dumped with these, and the 501st packs I half expect ot see on the 11th at the local Toy Show...  Just a sneaking suspicion.

Another observation I made tonight...

One local TRU, a high traffic one, had a literal wall of Carkoon wave for $6.99 last week...  This week, with the price drop to $4.99, these figures were down to 8 or 10 total in the store, a mix of Leia Boussh, a Barada, and Bib Fortuna's...  Every other figure was gone.  The store was practically cleared out totally and there had to have been 100 figures at least if not more...  Literally falling off the pegs.  I could count over a dozen Boba Fett's one day I was there, and now everything's gone practically.

I hope TRU sees that a $4.99 price sells TREMENDOUSLY better than the $6.99 price...  I hope Target's got its eyes on this too and realizes they can move more crap if they'd adhere to the competitive spirit Wal-Mart's set.  It's been too long dealing with these ****-tacular prices.

Clone Wars '03-'05 / Re: EE exclusive Clone Trooper 4-packs!
« on: February 22, 2006, 03:15 AM »
My pointing out there's no reason not to is probably all the reason they'd need.   You're right Ryan, I shoulda kept my mouth shut.

Me - "Sora Bulq really needs knee joints, I mean he's a Jedi for cripes sake, the guy's flying all over the Arena hacking up droids, he's a rockin' character no matter how background he may be..."

Hasbro - "Yeah...  Let's give him ankle joints, but we'll leave the knee articulation off...  Good idea."

I love Hasbro, they're fun to observe.

It's like those monkey commercials where they're all dancing because sales are up but in reality they have the graph upside down...  but they don't care and they leave it that way and keep celebrating.

Hasbro rules!   ::)

How's it go with the sheep elsewhere?  Something along the lines of, "We should be grateful they even make this stuff!", or some asinine nonsense like that...  Yeah, the day I should feel as though I owe someone even after I pay them, that's the day hell freezes over I'm afraid.

Customizing Tips and Tricks / Re: Image Hosting

I'd recommend a Photobucket account as well.  I got mine set up and when I mess with photos to host them that's been a reliable service, it's free, it seems to hold a lot...  At least a lot by my standards.

I'd say go with Photobucket too then.

Conventions / Re: Pgh toy show
« on: February 21, 2006, 11:58 PM »
Another show on the horizon...  It's become a tri-annual thing around here if I'm not mistaken with a March show, a show in summer-ish time I think?, and of course the first weekend in December show that has become the "big one" in the area.

http://www.pittsburghtoyshow.com/

There ya go for all the information...  The upcoming show is March 11th and 12th at the Pittsburgh Expo Mart.  The Expo Mart is in the Monroeville suburb of Pittsburgh, which is easily accessable off the Parkway East from downtown Pittsburgh and also easily accessed by the Pennsylvania Turnpike, I-76.  It's very easy to get to, traffic is light...

This is also home of the upcoming Pittsburgh Comic-Con as well, due in April if I'm not mistaken (lost my paper, it's here somewhere).

If you can make either show I'll be at both on their respective Saturday's.  The PSWCS West group, and the 501st Stormtrooper Legion are always in attendance as well.  This March Toy SHow I hear is gonna have Czechov from Star Trek!  They've moved up quite a bit from Eddie Munster, the Soup Nazi from Seinfeld, Horshack from Welcome Back Kotter, and Greg Brady...  :)

Good stuff though, always a great show to browse and enjoy the sights....   Unfortunately I've found that conventions have certain smells you don't wanna enjoy but that's all cons in my experience.  :P

If you can make a weekend of it, Pittsburgh's a beautiful city to visit...  Good dining, nightlife, shopping...  You'll have a good time.

Bear in mind Jades, that the show isn't very Star Wars-centric.  At least not in my experience in the past.  The show's cool but I'm usually done seeing anything Star Wars I wanted to within an hour.  I'm going for Park's autograph this year I think, skipping the others unless someone good is signed on I don't have already, but beyond that I've seen little in the line of toys and things at the show, it's a very much comic focused show.

Sometimes they have some Dawn of the Dead Hooplah going on too because it's where the mall is that the original was filmed at too, but Star Wars always is kind of a sidecar with it.  I wish it became one of the "big" shows because it's such a nice area, convenient, and really could be big like SDCC as a top East Coast show actually.

Saga '02-'04 / Bail Organa's Stand... Was There More To Come?
« on: February 21, 2006, 11:34 PM »
So I'm in the midst of cleaning display dilemma's and things, so I was perusing my AOTC figures and noticed Bail Organa's stand...  again.

It's pretty underrated as far as figure accessories go really and it's got one of the most unique holographic figures ever.  Far cooler than the current pack-ins we're getting in 2006.

Anyway, the stand Bail comes with...  It's part of Palpatine's Office (the holo-communicator table), and has a tab...  Like it was supposed to connect to more of the same.

Anyone else wonder where Hasbro was going with this thing?  It connects to nothing they've made...  It wouldn't even connect to itself if you had two of them.  Was a Palpatine's Office in the works that got fairly far along?  Other figures from the office that didn't get stands maybe?

That stand sticks out to me though, I'm just sorta curious where this was maybe going...  What more could have been in the works, or even partly finished.

Star Wars Ships and Vehicles / Re: Custom AT-TT
« on: February 21, 2006, 08:15 AM »
Aurabesh is a font you can download online, it's a real font/letterhead, not made up by Lucas for the SW universe...  It's pretty easy to find, just do a google search and you can download it to put it into MS Word and type crud up in the Star Wars ffont....

It's seen in the films a number of places including the Control panel of the Impy Officer who's directing the Shuttle Tydirum in during ROTJ.  It's in the prequals too and some things in ANH were altered for the DVD actually to nix "english" lettering and numbering to be replaced by Aurabesh...

CIS and GAR were covered well enough.  :)

As far as weathering goes...  People are going to give their honest opinions, which is as it should be, and while I can understand if you're not for it yourself Clone Hunter it's still something a lot of people like...

Does the Republic and Empire military organizations have cleaning specs for their vehicle crews?  Undoubtebly, but as we see in ESB the AT-AT's are pretty grimey and not from action on Hoth...  The AT-TE's aren't pretty when they're dropped into combat on Geonosis either, and Gunships are battle scarred as they just fly around Coruscant's pretty skyways.

The "lived in look" is important for the Star Wars universe...

more to the point though, If you peruse some of the top modeling/hobby sites and things you'll notice that weathering brings out detail...  Some of it's just to show shadow and depth, it just depends how you weather...  Some people go overboard, but some people can get it just right.  Definitely worth checking out model websites to see what I'm talking about.

It's kind of the difference between looking at a model of a 2006 Ford Mustang, and a model of an Abraham's Tank just prior to being sent to war...  The Mustang's gonna look all polished and new.  The Abraham's is going to look dull, it's gonna show shadow, you're gonna see panel lines clearly for hatches or things like that...  It won't look dirty, or battle damaged, but it'll show "things" better than the polished smooth Mustang would.

Kinda hard to explain really I guess...

Anyway, if you're not into weathering that's fine too, and you just don't of course and nobody's going to think less of you or the work for it.  But at the same time people who do like weathering will either look at that as a negative on the custom or they'll just look at it as a personal preference, but either way they're gonna say it's something they think differently on but it's not a big deal either way really either.

« on: February 21, 2006, 04:56 AM »
There's EU saying those droids were "imperial" but I don't necessarilly buy that either...

Also the black R4 unit was seen in a publicity still with R2-Q5 somehwere from ROTJ as I recall so I assume he was in the Death Star Hangar somewhere but not seen in the film or barely seen if he was...  They probably just re-used him to fill things out.

The others though that were rolling on the Tantive IV, I chalk that up to just some asinine EU writer wanting to make everything, no matter how insignificant, interesting beyond what it probably was or should have been.

As long as his knees and elbows are ball/socket joints, I'm ok with some basic shoulder joints Jeff.  :)  The headsculpt is great too, nice to see we got something new as opposed to just popping the AT-TE Gunner's head on there and painting on a scar.  nice.

yeah, that's the McQuarrie A-Wing paint design...

Due to blue-screen processes in filmmaking at the time, anything "blue" was omitted from production and the A-Wing became red...  That's why "Blue Squadron" was nixed from the film but showed up in the novel and radio dramas actually.

The Blue A-Wing is a beauty though and since it'd be cheapity cheap for Hasbro to make I'm all for it.  The sculpt isn't totally accurate to McQuarrie's drawing however, but I'd actually prefer the film accurate sculpt of the toy with the unique paintjob.

The Green A-Wing was one of my favs from the past, a Blue A-Wing that actually had some "history" to where it came from would be all the better to me.

That Falcon I was wondering what was up with it's paint...  That's the YT-1300 Freighter from E3 then?  Weird (I refuse to call it the Falcon regardless of Lucas's thoughts ;)  I hate coincidences).

I watched a guy cus his wife out the other night as they dug through a pile of messed up hotwheels crap...  Anyone comparing us with them, man that's just not right.  That's really insulting. :)

Other Collectibles / Re: EE's Next Exclusive...
« on: February 21, 2006, 04:44 AM »
I'm with the majority in assuming this is Kir Kanos since that's been the strong rumor and they have the sculpt handy dandy.  They just need to give him a proper weapon really.

no huge deal, nothing to go giddy over, and nothing a customizer probably couldn't have done a better job on I'll wager.  Oh well.   :-\

I'll be surprised if it's something else, and if it comes in at a reasonable price (by my sense of reasonable anyway since some people seem to think it's ok to tell everyone that $10 is a reasonable price to pay for the current level of quality we get...  I, however, humbly disagree with that nonsense).

Me too, that's kind of where I am as well...  I want more Wookiee's more than anything as I didn't get but one of the Heavy Gunner and wanted quite a few.  Unfortunately I haven't seen any 2-packs around here but know they surfaced at least at one or two stores...  Gotta keep looking I guess.
