Yuck.  Well, that's a sure fire way to kill the line.  Glad I'm all caught up through wave 5.   :-\

Thanks for the head's up on pricing Joe!

No problem, funny thing is I checked the price at Toys R' Us on Sunday and they still sell them for $7.99.  I never thought TRU would be the cheapest price around for figures. :o

Well, I'm sure THAT is just a matter of time.   :P

Wow.  You're ranking my current team on my year ago team performance?  That makes no sense.  Outside fo the fact that my team is completely different, Carson Palmer was injured in the first few weeks, McGahee was under-utilized (as evidenced this year), and Moss was spotty at best because of Brady's injury.  Houshmanzadah was also impacted by the loss of Palmer and I was a year early on Greg Olsen.  For that you're going to rank my #1 scoring/record F09 team at #7?  Come on.  I would be undefeated had I palyed any other team in week #1 this year and I was without Gonzales this last week. (Gonzales also didn't show up at all in week #3, so I can use Brent's "Owens Excuse" for not having even more points I guess). I lose both Rodgers and Forte next week, so that should be my most vulnerable week of the season (barring injuries).

And Brent - I whooped you by 22 points, end of story.  Add in the Guru's 8pts each for Owens and Gore and you still would have lost that game.  Owens had what, 60 yards this week?  Sorry, but he is not an elite receiver anymore.  You had a nice score this week, but biggest point differntials versus the Guru came from your Houston defense and a kicker.  Talk about a team "over performing" - Cutler and Gould only get to play Detroit twice my friend.

That is awesome.  I gotta get back to an NFL game soon.
Justin, true fan... I like that! Admit chances are slim, but you're going to enjoy the game anyways! Cool that you are going to the game tonight!

Thanks guys!  I'm pretty excited about lucking my way into tickets for tonight.  If you're watching the game, be on the lookout for two guys in Packer garb waving a green and a gold flag!

Take it from someone who's been in the last 3 consecutive JD super bowls - JMan's squad is currently outperforming themselves, and the bubble will pop.  The best 6 rosters, despite what the scoreboard says after 3 games, are Rob's, Bug's, mine, Ruiner's, Ryan's, and JayDouble's.

Dressel - have I made your top 6 yet or is the #1 team still "outperforming themselves?"   8)

I like the Vikings tonight.

You've been over-rating the Packers since Playoffs 2007.  Vikings have a better D, better O-line, better running game, and the QB's are close - although I give a very slight edge to Aaron Rodgers.  The Packers have a better receiving corps.

Well, I think I posted earlier that I give the Packers about a 40% shot of winning tonight.  The Vikes have a stronger line, better running game, probably a better overall defense and they're playing at home.  Rodgers does not have a good track record against them and we had no running game to speak of last week against lowly St. Louis.  I think the Packers are faster with the 3-4 in place and we probably have the best cornerback tandem in the league right now, but if Benson can put up 140 yards on us at home, I'm a little worried about what Peterson will do.  All that said, I'm going to the game, so I'm going to cheer them on until the end.

How about neither Cinci nor Cleveland being able to beat out the other until the last few seconds of a 5th quarter yesterday.  That was either a fierce rivalry game or two of the most pathetic teams playing right now.  I had high hopes for a second Detroit win yesterday, but as usual, they let it get away from them in the second half.  Now we just need to see the Packers pound the tar out of the Vikings tonight... :D

A local Target here in Minnesota raised the price of Marvel Universe figures from $7.99 to $9.29. :o  That's about the same price K-Mart sells them for.  I hope this price increase won't be happening at all Targets. :(

Wow, that's ridiculous.  Which of our Targets did you see this at?

It was the Hwy. 7 Minnetonka one.  I went to some more Targets on Saturday and all of them increased the price of their figures on 9/30 to either $9.29 or $8.44.  The ones with the higher $9.29 price seem to be Targets with no Wal-Marts in the area to bring prices down and the ones with the $8.44 price are ones with a Wal-Mart in the area.  Wal-Marts sell them for $8.44, so Target decided to match their price it would seem. :(

Yuck.  Well, that's a sure fire way to kill the line.  Glad I'm all caught up through wave 5.   :-\

Who is The Cranes manager?

I believe it's Rob's girlfriend's dad.

That is a sick amount to get from D.  It's rare enough getting 10+.

I can't remember the last time a team had 3 defensive TDs - pretty amazing even if it was against the lowly Rams. I'm sure benching the SF defense for 32 has got to hurt.  Luckily, it looks like he'll win anyway.

If anyone's interested, C. Benson is available for trade.  Looking for WRs.

Dude, that looks awesome.  I swear I've seen that phot before though - did you post it elsewhere?  Can't wait to see more shots of the full figure!

Well, Obi-Wan is certainly an easy addition, but Visionaries had a number of different stories, so there's lots to pick from.  This is a pretty far out guess, but one of the stories is about a young Rebel trooper on Hoth...what if they include Maul and the previously planned beardless Hoth trooper?

Yes, it's much better to be persistent & waste time & gas by going on daily toy hunts at multiple stores.  It's for the "thrill" of finding something new.  Makes so much sense...

Well, it makes a lot more sense than assigning the same DPCI # to multiple items so that customers can't call up on the phone and confirm what specific items are actually in stock.

The absurdity of the retail inventory system, coupled with the gross incompetence and unwillingness to help exhibited by most retail employees, essentially demands in person stock checks at multiple outlets, at least if you want to be assured of scoring whatever limited quantity of new product they decide to throw out to the shelf.

I think the sarcasm is misplaced. Why does it matter how other people see fit to spend their time and money in pursuit of their hobby anyway?

Don't worry about FG - he only shows up once in a while to make himself feel better by putting others down.  That's why he can't fathom that people might be going to Target or Wal-Mart for other shopping needs for some of their trips or that people might actually like getting their butts off the sofa togo browse the toy section.  Heaven forbid you should be more than ten feet from your toilet or your fridge FG!  ;)

I used to make plenty of store runs on the hunt in my younger days and there was definitely something of a "rush" in finding new stuff in person at the shelf.  These days, I have much less time and can rely more on the JD network to help track down new stuff locally.  For me, the internet is just another option to help track things down if all else fails or a good deal pops up.

The Legacy Collection / Re: Beginning of the End?
« on: October 3, 2009, 11:37 PM »
The end?  No, I don't think we're there quite yet.  However, I do believe that Hasbro will scale back the number of waves of figures per year until the saga finds new life in the theatres in 3D form (as mentioned earlier).  That will create new life for these characters and Hasbro can ramp up production again.

Agreed.  I just can't see this line on the way out yet.  Lower production numbers? Sure. Fewer waves? Perhaps, though we haven't seen that yet have we?  As much as there's talk of lower Legacy sales, I bet sales still beat the tar out of anything else in the action figure aisle.  If a line can support equal or better sales than movie-backed figures (GI Joe, Transformers), retailers will continue to make space for it.  And if retailers still want it, Hasbro will continue to make it.

This seems to be s disturbing trend.  There are reports that Walmart jacked the prices on their Clone Wars 2-pack exclusives from $12 something to $16 and change, now the Marvel figures.  Not good.

   E...

Well, Wal-Mart has always had their marvel figs at $8.44 as far as I know.  I'm sure Target saw that and said, "why the heck are we selling below Wal-Mart?"  They seem big into price testing at various stores, so it makes sense to offer up a $9 price point and see how these sell.

I was surprised to see Wave 9 show up at our local Target this week, and even more surprised that aside from one Green Arrow, the entire wave was still sitting on the shelf four days later.  Maybe this line just isn't super popular in my area, or maybe people just haven't been checking the stores for it very regularly anymore.

That is shocking!  Nice find though.  The sets around me are all around the corner from the action figure aisle and not on pegs, so they're kind of masked.  I'm guessing placement over there isn't helping anything, but pretty amazing that they sat for 4 days!
