When the Transformers and Spiderman movies came out, there were large display banners and special sections for these movie's toys. Are you seeing something simular displays for Indiana Jones? As of today, I have not seen ANY Indiana Jones toys. I don't even see price tags or empty shelves or even a banner at my local Targets. Is Walmart or TRU doing something special (like they did for ROTS)?
-
We had the little center island thingy at both TRUs. Our other two retailers really had nothing at all. Not boding well.
-
My TRU had an endcap, but that's it.
-
I havn't seen a Target that has them yet. Walmart was pretty stocked except they only had Mutt Williams and lots of him.
-
At our TRU, when you walk in there is an entire aisle of Speed Racer stuff directly to your right. As you continue on, there is an aisle facing the entrance that has a combination of Narnia, Dark Knight, Incredible Hulk, Iron Man, and Indiana Jones stuff. Indy has the far right part of that display, but it wasn't a real big section overall. WM has them in the regular aisle next to the Star Wars stuff, in a display area about the same size as SW. I haven't made it to Target yet, although I doubt our store has them out until Sunday.

That sounds just like what I saw at Walmart. I'll have to check TRU tonight.

"...as you continue on, there is an aisle facing the entrance that has a combination of Narnia, Dark Knight, Incredible Hulk, Iron Man, and Indiana Jones stuff..."
And as of today, the IJ section was picked clean, while all of the others look well stocked!

WM had them tossed in one of the aisles. not even displayed properly. all the 12' where stacked up on a shelf. the DLX were down at the other end on the very top, which i would have never noticed if it wasnt for my dad looking at them. and the GH were all trough on the bottom shelf mixed in whith indy toys. it was a horrible display..but just like SW only the troop builders were missing.
-
The local TRU has exactly what Brian posted. The Targets and Walmarts that put them out have the toys in the regular isle. The displays are pretty picked over.
-
A very small endcap on a feature display. And only at Toys R Us so far.
-
TRU had them in the front with Batman, Ironman and Hulk. Pretty picked over. Speed Racer had the huge display with pictures and banners.

The biggest display I saw was at my nearest TRU. However, it was very underwhelming for a new movie display. The really did not have that many single figure carded figures. Well they had them all - ROTLA and KOTCS but only a few rows of pegs and not and entire or half aisle full. Maybe a quarter of the entire aisle tops. But they only had the troop car a few deluxe figs and that was it.
Wal-Mart and Targets had some in the main aisles. A few had them out in the middle of the aisles. Again it was hit or miss as to what they had out. Most of them were smart and did not buy up a ton of 12 inch figures. I did not see a glut of Indy stuff in any store.
To be honest I think it's better that the line is not glutted in the stores for a major movie release. Maybe they will sell through quickly and the stores will not be shy to reorder new stuff and we get through the waves quicker? It is always annoying to have new waves of figures never make it out because the idiots order 5 million cases of waves 1 and 2.

Target looks like they finally started to stock indy figures. They put them right next to the star wars stuff (that they refused to stock)
-
I was at the Times Square TRU. That had about 30-40 Mutts! That's it!
-
Two of our four retailers aren't carrying the figures at all. Walmart's been abysmal. Only TRU has been stocking anything at all and only Raiders stuff thus far.
-
A WM I hit tonight had a scant 8 figures, all Mutt Williams...
The next film title? Mutt Williams and Pluggers of the Mass Retail Outlets. Queue the Indy theme.

I checked out TRU tonight as I had to meet a friend there for his Kuby fix. I walked in & under construction around where the figures are. I walked all the way around the back of the store & nothing thus far so I venture off around the whole store & back to the figures. Not a bloody thing in that section. Then I spot them, 1 square island with Indy tucked away. This is the first time I have seen them, I never bothered to go out & hunt them down before.
1 side had the single figures, GH & 12". The other had the deluxe & truck. The rest was the electronic whip. Yep, pretty sad. ::)

I would have to say that for the most part, the displays I have been seeing are pretty pathetic.
I'm glad that the stores really didn't seem to over-order. So perhaps they will come away from the situation looking that the movies lines and see that Indy is indeed a popular line.
For example, I was in TRU this morning when they opened, the Indy stuff is with Batman, Iron Man, Hulk and Prince Caspian stuff - meanwhile the Speed Racer junk takes up the marquee area across from these displays. The rest of the movie lines are fully stocked - plenty of things to choose from.
The Indy space on the other hand had the following: 2x Indy w/Bazooka, 1x Mutt w/Sword, 1x Mutt w/Snake, Deluxe Indy w/Temple Pitfall, a 12" Mutt Williams and the Role Playing Whip. That's it. No vehicles, no figures other than the ones I list. Nothing. Two days ago, this space was filled with product.
I'm really glad to see the line selling well - I really don't want anything to jeopardize the ToD wave.
