Other Toy Lines / Re: Modern Masters of the Universe

I checked three different Big Lots stores in my area this week - no sign of any MOTU.

I just want to see more OT themed ships.  Maybe the repainted Slave One is a sign of more OT vehicles... heck, even the tank repainted in Imperial gray similar to the battlefront colors would make me smile.

I actually didn't buy any of the Yoda style class I vehicles until the TJ Maxx dump.  The reason is, I'm just not a fan of Clone Wars stuff and am close to being burnt out on prequel merchandise.  And I thought this was a pretty good assortment, but needed some sort of OT love.

Yoda Starfighter - I thought it was a neat idea and the interchangeable astromech dome is very cool.  But, Jedistarfighers are just overdone to the point where I almost hate them... despise them, in fact.  And all the Yodas that I saw had really bad pain on the eyes.  So, I just couldn't pull the trigger.  Saw these at TJ Maxx, and still can't get excited.

Clone Dropship - Not a bad ship by any means, but just not interesting to me.  If it was some sort of ground vehicle, then I might be interested.

AT-RT - To me this thing was a letdown... the clone looked pretty bad in my opinion, and the vehicle's paint scheme just seemed too animated to me.  I guess there are times when I just feel like Hasbro takes for granted that repaints are going to automatically sell just because it's Star Wars... I dunno... just wasn't impressed by this set.

MTT Droid Fighter - By far, this was the coolest set in my book... BUT, I still didn't buy it until I saw it at TJ Maxx.  I came close several times but never could pull the trigger... which was due to the Obi Wan figure.  It's a pretty neat set though and I am glad that I bought it.

Now... the line sorely needs some OT deluxe sets in 2014.  It's been so long since we've gotten any, other than the Yavin sled.  Right?  Or am I forgetting something?

As for the video game chat - I can say that my 6 year old son and 5 year old neighbor played with their action figures 90% of the time until back in May when they discovered Skylanders on XBOX.  Now they spend at least 75% of their play time together in front of a video game.  We have to restrict their XBOX time...

Maybe Hasbro needs to work out a deal for a new Battlefront game with a similar concept - you buy the figure that comes with a stand - put the stand onto a portal and you can be that character for the game.

The Vintage Collection / Re: $5 Vintage Collection @ Five Below

$8 would be great, with a fair mix of some SA figures and some that are lower quality... I've be happy with that.

5 Below tends NOT to be regional...  If one gets, they all will.  Like I said above, I think it's entirely possible this was a store with depleted (or no) stock, and wheelbarrow stuff came in and they put it out early...  I think a wheelbarrow display is a solid bet since they've done one now for a couple years.

A couple guys on FB also reported finding this wave in other areas, so I would assume most of the Five Below stores will get some of these in... or at least hopefully they will.

I wonder which one he hit.  I was at one earlier this week and they had the WM TPM wave and a couple old Weequays.

I was at the one in Fenton, off Hwy 141.

Middle Earth / Re: The Hobbit - Toy Line

I guess I'm not surprised to see fewer places picking these up now.  The first wave of figures ended up on mass clearance at Kmart, didn't move too well at TRU, and I never saw evidence of a Wal-Mart or Target carrying them in my area.

These aren't bad toys though, I rather like them and so does my son.

I got some of these sets last week at Target.  The seeker droid is kind of cool, and the Vader was better than I thought.  I bought a coulpe of the Fett set too, which was mostly because my son convinced me to.

The clones looked pathetic though... easy pass.  My 6 year old son even said they looked "silly."

Just another example of Hasbro being all over the place.

We get a mix here of kid oriented and adult oriented toys.  Why not go one direction or the other?  If they are aiming at kids, why not pack in a more kid aimed Sidious and the new 5POA clone?

And why in the hell would Vader be clutching a lightsaber when being operated on that table?

Hasbro makes no sense to me anymore.

I'm more concerned about the helmet...

All Hobbit stuff marked down to a super cheap $1.99 at my local Kmart... I bought the three Orcs on the dog beast things they had left.  Now my son and I have a great army... thought I did use a couple of the Orcs for customs.

Saga Legends / Re: Saga Legends Rumors
« on: June 12, 2013, 12:40 PM »
There is speculation that the AT-RT with Clone is from the cancelled AMP'D line.

With this one cancelled item still in the database, it makes me question the validity (or at least the certainty) of all of these figures being released.

I hope that AMP'D remains cancelled.  But new 3.75 figures, I hope, are released.

The Black Series 3.75" / Re: Realistic Clone Wars Wants?
« on: June 7, 2013, 11:06 AM »

I think we kind of got a realistic version (or close to it) with the Cad Bane that comes with TODO-360.  For me at least, it fits in fine with realistic figures.

As for others, I just think there's a lot of opportunities for more aliens to be brought into the mix.  I'm about cloned out though and totally burnt out on main characters like Anakin, Obi Wan, Mace, etc.

Bring us NEW stuff that's eye popping, Hasbro.  Stuff like Xiro the Hutt would be all kinds of awesome.

I saw the new sets at TRU this weekend as well, but held off for the moment.  They always seem to be a bit higher there, so it would probably be better to wait it out.  I was tempted to get Elrond's council though, or even the wizard battle one.

My TRU also had those out - but both stores now pulled them off the shelves.

Street date or something?

Did get my son the little Gandalf vs. Sauramon set though before they pulled them, and we put it together.  He really wanted it for Sauron's "eye."
