My order for this set arrived from EE yesterday. Not a bad set, not a great one. Better than the TFA one, but nowhere near as good as the RO one.

The Rose is the best figure in the set - slightly different legs from the 2-pack set, poncho is made of really flexible soft plastic so it won't interfere with putting her in the cockpit of the ski speeder, she has wrist articulation and sculpted on her torso is the necklace she wore in the movie.

The First Order figures are decent enough, and it's always welcome to get more figures to add to the First Order ranks, so they get a pass.

The Rey is included here because that's the pattern for these 4-packs, but I would have much rather seen them include a Resistance Ground Trooper than this Rey sculpt again.

Did they indicate whether or not WalMart would be getting solid cases of their two exclusive figures or are these figures just going to be mixed in with whatever assortment is shipping at the time?

Fingers crossed that it's solid cases cause then they should (hopefully) be pretty straightforward to find.

The Mimban Stormie, at least, is just a repaint with a cloth cape and new guns.  But Rey I REALLY want a couple of her.  Ugh.  She should be the basic figure and the repack should be the exclusive TVC carded one.

Exactly - oh you want some TVC exclusives WalMart? Here - choke on the TVC carded versions of Kylo Ren and Rey from TFA!

That's definitely a good sign - 10% in one day. I was hopeful that it would hit that much this weekend as hitting that 10% milestone could be considered a good indicator as to whether or not this makes it.

Hopefully at some point they work it out where Canadians and other collectors around the world can back it as well.

In looking at that close-up of the Tank Driver, it now occurs to me why the Scarif Trooper isn't on the radar for the TVC line.

The Tank Driver IS the Scarif Trooper with a different head, belt piece and deco.

UGH - really?

So right out of the gate 5 out of the 6 figures are repacks AND there are only 8 figures per case? Fantastic - that means that online retailers won't even have the option to sell full and half cases.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, when is Hasbro going to put their heads on straight when it comes to these damn case ratios? If you're going to go with cases of 8 FINE, then the wave is either 8 figures at 1x, 4 figures at 2x or 2 figures at 4x - easy math! For example, if you're going to lead with re-packs, have it be 8 repacks at 1x each, that way, collectors who are going to want to get these just to keep their carded collection going, they're going to buy an entire case and at least not feel ripped off or forced to buy a 2nd repack just for the sake of keeping the collection going or if it was the 4 repacks at 2x each, the online retailers could sell half cases to the same type of audience.

Solo: A Star Wars Story / Re: Solo 3.75" Figure 2-Packs

Could that 2-pack of Han & Chewie be from when Han first meets Chewie and rescues him?

Honestly, not a great wave, that line-up is going to be a tough sell.

It really should have consisted of Rey and Kylo from TLJ, not TFA and instead of Jyn Erso, they should have poked their heads up and said "what is the one RO 3.75" TBS figure everyone is clamoring for? Ah yes, the Shoretrooper, got it!"

So the wave could have been:
(new) TLJ Rey - they made the figure and instead of bolstering this wave, they reward WalMart?!?!
(new) TLJ Snoke
(newish recombo of existing parts) TLJ Kylo Ren - use the same body from the TFA figure but put a TLJ head sculpt on it since Kylo is helmet-less most of the movie
(repack/repaint) TLJ First Order Stormtrooper - basically the executioner all in white/black
(repack) RO Shoretrooper
(repack) ESB Hoth Rebel Trooper

In future waves we're getting two or more new sculpts - out of the gate the best they could do was ONE?

Also the Tank Driver is not with the tank.  I've read a few people say that Hasbro at one time said it was, but I don't recall them saying that.

Thanks for the clarification - just saw a good shot of the Tank box it says "Figures in vehicle not included" - so I guess that settles it.

I'm glad, that way I can get a bunch extra of the figure like I'd normally want to do.  ;D

Hasbro rep:  Fear not!  These will be readily available in good time and in abundant numbers at your favorite local Walmart just like the Kylo Ren throne room and the TLJ Black Series wave. Oh wait...

Fixed the Hasbro rep quote for your there P-Siddy

HUGE groan from me on this news - why is WalMart even being allowed to sit at the table after how badly they handled the 3.75" TBS exclusive line?!?!?

So the Tank Driver that's in the box with the Hover Tank will also be carded individually? Or is the Tank Driver no longer going to be included with the Tank?

Here's my thinking on how this went down...

- Hasbro decided they would give making this vehicle a go, perhaps even due his potential retirement looming on the horizon, they had Mark Boudreaux (who is an awesome guy, if you ever have a chance to talk with him at a show like Star Wars Celebration, I highly recommend it) take a stab at it
- the vehicle was designed, the process was documented and Hasbro made a prototype with the intent on using the prototype and the documented process to sell it to retailer(s)
- unfortunately, they couldn't get any retailers to take the plunge, they may have even been in talks with Toys R Us to carry it until the bankruptcy decision occurred - frankly the line as a whole is in trouble at retail, nothing ever sells through and most launch-day times stick around until deep discounts/clearances, Hasbro is now 3-for-3 with the recent movies in this regard
- instead of just wasting the development resources already put into the piece they decided to do what other companies have done (such as Mattel with Castle Greyskull) and go the crowd-funding route
- they picked a drop-dead minimum and that's where the 5000 comes from. At $500 each, my guess would be that Hasbro is estimating that it will cost them $1.25M to create the necessary molds and manufacturing process to mass produce, at a minimum, 5000 units, which would mean that for each Sail Barge sold, Hasbro makes $250 profit

Granted my profit to cost ratio of 100% may be off, but how else can you explain that there is a pretty complete looking prototype AND that on the deadline day of the backing period, if the required minimum is reached they will ship all backers a bound book detailing the development process of this piece.

I applaud Hasbro for finally being willing to give it a try. While I want to see it succeed, I pledged my support for two of them with the thinking that there's only a 40% chance it's even going to get to the 5000 backer goal. Having 3000 signatures on a petition is A LOT different than getting 5000 collectors to commit to a $500 purchase for a item they won't see for almost a full calendar year.

The biggest reason why I want this to succeed is because it opens the door for other iconic items to be in the running for similar treatment - Death Star Playset, Star Destroyer, Cloud City, Ewok Village are all potential candidates for this kind of treatment. It doesn't have to be big projects either - another great idea for this type of process would be to finish up remaking modern versions of the old Kenner Vintage line Sim Aloo, Power Droid, Max Rebo Band - and entire TVC wave that's crowd-funded - at least then the purchase price for a set might be in the ball-park of $100 for 6-7 figures - a lot more accessible from a pay-to-play standpoint.

Do you pay now or only if it makes 5,000?

Only if it makes it to 5000.

Who is gonna pony up $500 for a 4’ Skiff with tons of interior detail a Jabba Figure and 2.5 square feet of display space by april 3rd?  🤔

I am, already submitted my backing for 2 via the Hasblab site. The count was less than 20 backers when I did, so I can proudly say I did my part for making this a reality.

Some for sure, and they always like to keep PR good with the old folks like us, but collectors are not even the same as when we all got into this mess.  They're now 6" fans, or there's the people who were little when the PT came out and became fans in a different way than we did and stuff.  I just don't think we're all that important.  Or rather, maybe, not as important as we once were maybe.

What also doesn't help is that if we were draw a venn diagram of "Star Wars Collectors" and "40-something Star Wars fans who hate everything since Disney bought Lucasfilm" there is unfortunately A LOT of overlap. There is an entire site dedicated to showing how large the overlap actually is.  ::)

So if you're a licensee who paid $$$ to acquire that license, do you appease a vocal minority who seem hell-bent on bashing everything your licensor is doing or do you get on the bandwagon with your licensor who, at some point, is going to pressure you to totally ignore that vocal minority because it's contribution to the bottom line is negligible?
